Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

I've got Radio Five Live up and running here in Blue Devil HQ. They've got live reports from the Emirates on Celtic v. Lyon right now.
Kick-off time at Elland Road then. I'm going to try to keep up with the action through LUFC.com.
The teams for today:
Leeds: Schmeichel, Connolly, Collins, Naylor, Bessone, Howson, Kilkenny, Johnson, Gradel, Becchio, Sam. Subs: Higgs, Bruce, Grella, Hughes, Bromby, Somma, White, Lees.
Wolves: Hennessey, Zubar, Van Damme, Jones, Berra, Craddock, Guidorra, Henry, Ebanks-Blake, Fletcher, Jarvis. Subs: Ikeme, Keogh, Doyle, Halford, Elokobi, Ward, Edwards, Stearman, Foley.
Grayson is still resting Billy Paynter who picked up an ankle knock against Hartlepool last weekend. I hope he's available for the Derby match next weekend.
From LUFC: "Twice inside the opening 10 minutes, skipper Richard Naylor made two timely clearances as Leeds came under some early pressure.
But it was United who carved out the first decent chance. Neil Kilkenny whipped a ball into the middle, Bradley Johnson's downward header came back to Luciano Becchiuo, but the striker couldn't apply the finishing touch from close range."
Lyon are currently 2-0 up at the Emirates against Celtic.
New Fulham boss Mark Hughes is taking charge of his club for the first time as they play Pompey today.
Leeds "looking bright" according to the Five Live reporter. We're using our new all blue away kit.
No using the word United... there is only one UNITED!!
YESSSSS!!!!
Diminutive winger Max Gradel has fired Leeds into the lead, slamming home a rebound after the keeper had saved a Richard Naylor header from the corner.
Hey, that wasn't me - that's the reporter on the LUFC website. I'm always careful to call LUFC "Leeds." I think there's only one other side that should be called "United," other than ManYoo and that's Sheffield Utd and only when they're playing Wednesday. Otherwise it gets a bit confusing.
Half time at Elland Road now. Leeds finished the half strongly with Lloyd Sam feeding Jon Howson from the by-line. Good strong performance so far and Mick McCarthy certainly has some questions to answer before the Premiership season starts.
Wow - Lyon were cruising it but Celtic have managed to come back with two goals in eight minutes to draw 2-2, Georgy Samaras equalizing in the last minute.
Bugger - Wolves have equalized right at the stroke of half-time through Matt Jarvis.
1-1 at half-time.
Kick-off time at the Emirates, then. Arsenal v. Milan.
YESSS!!!!!!!!
New boy Lloyd Sam has fired us back into the lead after the interval. Gradel was the architect with a tricky run and Sam converted his cross with a cheeky back-heel to make it 2-1.
Some nice early flicks and touches by Chamakh, but Arsenal fans would love to see the new boy get on the scoresheet before the season starts.
Leeds have a penalty claim turned down as Joey Craddock is seen to have handled in the box. Shame.
Also, Richard Naylor has gone off with what worryingly looks like a thigh strain. New signing Bruce has come on.
Good morning BD and UWS. I tried to get the Leeds match, but was unsuccessful. I think I have Arsenal vs AC Milan on veetle. There are lots of friendlies today.
Morning, MUR! How are you, mate?
I'm not sure exactly what's going on with Maurane Chamakh's hair. There's definitely some gel involved but what exactly is he going for? It's a shocker.
Great. How are you? I watched Man United vs Chivas last night on streaming video. We lost 2-3. Hernandez played a half for each side and scored for them, but not for us.
There's no coverage of the Leeds match today. I'm following the text updates on the Leeds United website:
http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20100731/wolves-live_2247585_2107222
Typical Arsenal. Lots of great possession, but no end product.
I saw that. I missed the match but I was surprised that United were up for another match so quickly after their exertions against the All-Stars. Only a week left until the start of the Championship season and the Community Shield, eh?
Yes, I agree. To my mind, the jury's still out on whether Chamakh will be the needed "Fox in the box" for the Gunners.
Decent header just wide by Vermaelen.
WOW! Vermaalen nearly scored twice in a minute with headers. One was well saved by Abiatti and one went just wide.
Still 0-0 at Elland Road coming in the last period. New striker David Somma has been introduced.
Gunner old Flammini nearly put Milan 1-0 up off a deflected shot. Flappianski did well to save that deflected shot.
The Gooner is none to pleased with Matthieu Flamini this week. The old boy has waded in on the whole Cesc to Barca flap by advising Fabregas to move to Spain.
YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!
Bradley Johnson has added a third goal at Elland Road with a firm downward header from a Gradel cross.
Pompey are 1-0 up against Fulham going into the final minutes. That won't please new manager Mark Hughes. It looks like a full strength Fulham side. Mark Schwarzer in goal today but still rumoured to be going to the Arse.
On the Pompey are at least four players who will be leaving - John Utaka, David Nugent, Prince Boateng and Kanu.
That result will be a confidence booster for Leeds. I do not blame Gooner for being upset. I understand that Calamity James is now a Bristol City player. Should we wish him a happy 40th birthday?
It should be an interesting season for Pompey. I heard that they may be docked up to fifteen points for improperly exiting administration.
That's what I heard on Five Live this morning. I thought he might be going to West Ham as Rob Green seems likely to replace Schwarzer at Fulham.
Yes - this week is key for Pompey. They're in the same situation that we were a few seasons back with a hearing scheduled this week. I expect a 15 point deduction. We had the same and still made the playoffs under Dennis Wise in the 07/08 season. We would have easily been promoted without the deduction.
Half an hour in at the Emirates and - no surprises - it's still 0-0.
GOAL! Chamakh comes good with his first goal in an Arsenal shirt. Didn't he take it well! Terrific run from Arshavin and he fed the Frenchman well and all he had to do was pass it into the corner.
GOAL 1-0 GOONERS!!! A great run by Arshavin and a great through ball to Chamakh. he slots it in the corner pat Abiatti.
Nearly a second there for the Gunners. Nasri played a lovely ball over for Rosicky and Abbiati had to be alert to keep it out. The Italian keeper has kept the score down.
Leeds have wrapped up a 3-1 win over Wolves at Elland Road. That's an excellent result for us ahead of next week's league opener at home to Derby County. Can't wait!
That was lovely skill by Nasri as he turned the defender. Abbiati made a great reflex save from Rosicky.
Oh - Pato with a brilliant curling effort just over the bar. I really like that kid.
Well done Leeds!!!. Here's hoping for a great campaign, so we can renew the Leeds Man United rivalry.
Again, I'd have to say that that's a poor showing for Mick McCarthy's side against a recently promoted Championship outfit. I thought he'd made some smart moves this summer but Wolves may struggle to survive once again.
Halftime and what is a deserved 1-0 lead to the Gooners. It has been an entertaining half. Let's hope the same is true in the second half.
The teams are back out at the Emirates and Gael Clichy and Theo Walcott have come on along with Bakari Sagna.
And those changes almost pay immediate dividends as Jack Wilshere nearly latches on to Theo's ball in.
A nice first contribution by Walcott.
The commentators are going over the rules of the tournament but does anyone really care who wins the Emirates Cup?
Flamini has another go at goal and it's well held by Flappy. Does it seem as if Flamini has a point to prove today?
Flamini was really jeered after that run. I would just go for the three points and play as if it were EPL rules. I thought that was a foul just outside the Milan box.
Oh - Arshavin brought a great save out of the keeper again after a delightful flick from Chamakh. Walcott couldn't follow up.
That was a nasty clash of heads between Vermaalen and Boriello. It seems as if most of the Gooners are playing as if they have a point to prove. Wenger must have said something
Merkel is on for Gatusso, who is booed by the Celtic fans due to his Rangers connections. Is Merkel German?
Yes - I believe that Merkel is German but hasn't played for the senior side yet.
By the way, I'd boo Gennaro Gattuso just on principle alone. He's a nasty sort.
I would boo him too. Zambrota just cam on as a sub as Milan are making several substitutions this half.I was asked about the substitution rule in friendlies at Reliant. I replied by stating that they are normally an unlimited amount.
I think Gattuso is past it and has maybe two or three seasons left at most.
Oh - lovely touch from Vela nearly brings a second. Chamakh is being withdrawn for Mark Randall.
That was brilliant skill from Vela as he went past three players and curled his shot inches wide. That would have been a brilliant solo goal and an early candidate for goal of the season.
I think that's right - the last thing that managers want to do is risk any injuries in a friendly so the subbing is unlimited. They also obviously want to watch as many players as possible.
GOAL! The Duck has equalized for Milan. I'm not sure he got much of a touch on that free kick but he's claiming it. It's a typical goal for the Arsenal to give up. Sloppy.
GOAL 1-1 !!! Pato scores a header off a fee kick from Seedorf after Sagna gave away a cheap free kick.
One more round of boos for Flamini as he comes off.
I noticed that Aston Villa vs Feyenoord will be on www.atdhe.net at 4:15 PM. The Revs are playing at the same time and will be on the same web site.I think they are playing Philly.
Oddo is on for Pato.
Yeah - I noticed that. I think we're on at 3:30. Atdhe is one of my favorite online speakeasies because of its American focus. JustinTV can't be bothered with the MLS.
That was nearly a winner for Milan as Zambrotta's long range effort bounced off the top of the bar after a cheap give away by Clichy.
Full-time: 1-1
In the end, a bit disappointing for the Arsenal. They led for so long and should really have scored a second. But you're right - Zambrotta could have won it.
The match ends tied at 1-1 after entertainment and quality. I am off to San Antonio to pick up my daughters from camp. I will be back home early tomorrow evening. Cheers BD. Take care. It was great chatting with you.
The Gooner was mentioning the new trend toward wearing half-shirts under the kit shirts but I hadn't seen one until just then with the players walking off. They do look alarmingly like jog bras but I suppose they're cooler in the warm weather than a full undershirt.
Cheers, mate. I'm here at the office for the afternoon doing some grading for my summer course, so I'm going to dip in and out of the afternoon's matches.
I'm back watching the Revvies take on the Philadelphia "Freedom" this afternoon.
Bugger! Sebastian LeToux has slapped home a nice curling effort to put the "Freedom" ahead in the 25th minute.
Half-time: We started off well but have fallen apart since the LeToux goal. It's 1-0 at the half. I'm off home.
