New Year's Day Footer
It's a big, big start to 2011 in English footer today. The action starts in a few minutes with United's trip to the Hawthorns (7:45am EST), followed by Leeds hosting Boro (8:30), the regularly scheduled fixtures including relegation six-pointer West Ham v. Wolves (10) and finally Arsenal's trip to Birmingham at 12:30pm. Celebrate 2011 the right way by tuning in and chatting on the LOB.

One of the big talking points this morning is who will win the 2011 sack race. There have already ten changes in management in the Premiership this season. At least five managers are under severe pressure: Woy, Avram, Houllier, Moyes, and McCarthy. Who will drop first? Stick around....
Good morning BD. You make an interesting point. Only five points separate the bottom ten teams . It is really tight at the bottom.I agree with your list of five except for Moyes. I don't see him going anywhere. Avram has some time due to some recent good results.
Th teams kick off from the Hawthorns. Morrison tries an ambitious effort from long range, but Kuzsack is wise to that effort.
YEs!!! ROON SCORES HIS FIRST GOAL FROM OPEN PLAY SINCE mARCH WITH A WELLK PLACED HEADER OFF A CROSS FROM eVRA AFTER GREAT WORK FROM OBER.jUST TWO MINUTES HAVE BEEN PLAYED.
Drac makes a run down the right, but is tackled in the box. Roon appeared to be really relieved. I want us to get three points from this match, not another away draw.
Ober wins a corner down the left as he shows his pace.He took the corner, but it was headed away.
Morrison went past Evra on the right and sent in a decent cross for Thomas, but shot wide with a difficult effort as Nev fell asleep at the far post.
I think Kuzsak is playing against his former team as Nev concedes a corner.
Brunt took the corner and Vidic headed away
Great work by Roon is ruined by Fletch as Roon was fouled in midfield, but got up[ and played a great ball to Fletch on the right, who put in a poor cross.
STRUTH!!! MORRISON SCORES WITH A GREAT FINISH ,BUT NEV FAILED WITH A POOR HEADED CLEARANCE. 1-1 AND GAME ON.
I am upset as Nev failed to deal with a routine long ball from Brunt despite the great finish.
There is no score in the Edinburgh Derby and no score as they have just kicked off at Elland Road.
We seem to have trouble dealing with the long ball as the Baggies are winning the second ball. I don't like it one bit.
Ober nearly wins a corner with his pace, but two Baggies defenders converge upon him to prevent the corner.
Thomas shoots at Kusczak after Fletch lost the ball.
COME ON FLETCH. HE RUINED A GOOD MOVE AGAIN WITH A POOR CROSS.
COME ON UNITED. THE DEFENDING IS PATHETIC. THE BAGGIES SHOULD HAVE HAD A PENALTY AND NEV SHOULD HAVE BEEN SENT OFF AS HE FOULED DORRANS.
Then they lost the ball cheaply in midfield and brunt shot just over.
We are lucky to be on level terms as SAF needs to give the hairdryer treatment. Nev needs to be subbed as he starting to show his age with an absolutely horrible display.Fletch should be subbed as well.
Roon is flagged offside as Ober plays a great ball. That was the correct decision.
Mulumbu seems to have cramp as he down for the Baggies.
I am upset as the Baggies have been the better team after we scored early on. We should have taken it to West Brom.
Owen is warming up after being out of the side for ages due to persistent injury problems.
David Weater had given Middlesbrough the lead at Elland Road. It has not been a good New Year's Day for our Uniteds.
COME ON YOU UNITEDS!
COME ON UNITED!
Roon put Ober through down the right, but the cross was pathetic.
Roon wins a corner and the Baggies heada away as Ober took the corner.
Two minutes of stoppage time as Dorrans shoots into the side netting after a great ball from Odemwingie. Horrible defending from United.
The free kick from Brunt is deflected for a corner.
The corner is unsuccessful and it is 1-1 at halftime from the Hawthorns. We are so lucky to be on level terms after a poor first half display.
Brighton lead Leyton Orient 2-0.
Millawall vs Palace has just kicked off in what should be a feisty SE London Derby.
Morning, MUR! Good to have you on board. That was such an absorbing half that I didn't have time to run to the computer to comment.
Good to see Roon back on the scoresheet, albeit with a somewhat unconvincing header that Carson should have probably saved.
Brilliant strike by Morrison to level things. And deservedly so. WBA probably the better side.
And what about that penalty shout? The Neviller has had a 'mare in my opinion and was lucky to stay on the pitch. Stone cold pen really. Andy Gray is still fuming about the decision from Referee Chris Foy.
My Leeds boys are still 0-1 down to Boro. How does that happen? I need three boys from the lads today. No slip-ups. Boro are near the relegation zone and we're at home. No excuses.
I agree. Nev has been pathetic and should be replaced. We are lucky not to be losing. I do agree that West Brom should have had a penalty.
I am surprised to see Boro in the relegation zone because they should be challenging for promotion. This is a tricky fixture against a side that is probably good enough to be in a playoff position.
Millwall have taken the lead against Palace.
The second half kicks off from the Hawthorns.
Leeds trail 0-1 at halftime.
COME ON YOU WHITES!
Just wide by Brunt.
I wish Neb would be subbed, but we don't have a right back on the bench.
Dorrans has a shot deflected for a corner after a great pass from Brunt and more shocking defending from Nev.Scharner heads just wide from the corner, beating Vidic to the ball.
Drac is well offside as he had a chance on goal.
I'm expecting a great deal more from the Whites in the second half. I'm sure you are from your United as well.
Yes. Both Uniteds need to improve in the second half.
Chicharito is warming up and will come on for Drac
Darren Gibson will come on for Ober.
BLOODY HELL! THE BAGGIES HAVE A PENALTY AS RIO TRIPS THOMAS IN THE BOX. A CLEAR PENALTY.
YES!!! ODEMWINGIE SHOOTS WIDE FROM THE PENALTY KICK.
Big chance for WBA with that penalty. Spurned by Odemwinge.
I was not surprised to see Obertan come off - he was poor today. Very surprised to see Drac come off, though.
SAF is really furious.
Zuverloon is on for Stephen Reid as the young Dutch player is rEcalled from a loan spell to the Tractor Roys.
Roon made a great run,but was stopped by great WBA defending.
Cech fouls Roon just outside the box.
Ibanez comes off for treatment. The free kick from is headed clear then thumped away by Morrison.
Leeds still 0-1 down. Come on, you Whites!!!
Brighton now lead lead Leyton Orient 3-0.
Tchoyi is on for Ibanez and Fabio is on for Roon in a move that should have taken place at halftime.
I meant to say Fabio on for Nev and that should have taken place at halftime.
SAF is really furious and rightly so as United have been poor. Gibson wins a corner due to a lucky deflection.United should have had a penalty as Thomas lifted his arm to make a block. I guess that makes up for the first half decision.
GOAL! Chicharito steals a yard on his marker and nods home from the corner.
1-2 United!
YES!!!
Chicharito scores a header of a corner to give United a 1-2 lead with another vital away goal.
Half an hour left at Elland Road.
COME ON!
Chicharito scored a late winner in our only away win, against Stoke.
Brighton now lead Leyton Orient 4-0 and Hearts lead 1-0 in the Edinburgh Derby as the match approaches injury time.
At this point, I will take a 1-2 win as Vidic cleared off the line from Tamas.
Brunt shoots over with a decent effort.
Great back tracking from Chicharito as he prevents Morrison from making a run down the right and wins a free kick too.
It would be quite an achievement to get a second away win with such a poor performance. Chicharito is booked for a foul.
Fabio is booked for a foul on Thomas. O thought that was a fair tackle.United clear the free kick from Brunt.
Thomas shoots over as the Baggies look for a late equalizer.
WBA have a corner as United head away. Then Kuzcsak misses a cross.Brunt is booked as Roon attempts to break.
Morrison should have been booked as he made a cynical challenge on Roon.
Roon hobbles off to receive treatment.
There will be five minutes of stoppage time as United hang on.
Hearts have 1-0 in the Edinburgh Derby.
Vidic is booked for a foul on Tchoyi on the right wing.
Gibson heads away, then United break through Chicharito. Great defending from the Baggies as United win a throw by the corner flag.
Fortune is on for Mulumbu. What is the point in making a change with only a minute of stoppage time remaining?
At this point, I'd take a 1-1 draw. Inexplicable that we would lose to Boro at home but there it is...
Morrison volleys wide after some head tennis.
United grind out a hard fought and rather fortunate 1-2 win at the Hawthorns. We were lucky here, but that makes up for being unlucky at St. Andrews earlier in the week.
Brighton now lead 5-0.
Still 0-1 at Elland Road.
COME ON YOU WHITES!
Well done to United. It wasn't pretty but as we all know, champions have to win even when they're not playing well. Hard on Albion, though. They were good today but let down by Odemwinge's penalty miss.
About five minutes left at Elland Road. UWS is not here to say it so I'll say it -
IT'S LEEDS TIME!
Morning Fellas
Happy New Year
I watched the match upstairs in my bed. Great start and very pleased to see Rooney score.... it's a new year... good riddance 2010!!
United were hopeless. Their passing was atrocious. A lucky AWAY win!!
Leeds drawing... it is LEEDS TIME!
Next on FSC is Man Citeh vs Blackpool.
It is over at Elland Road and it ends in a draw
More points dropped at home!
Leeds apparently miss a sitter very late on
COME ON BLACKPOOL!!!
I have a link for SS but the sound was hopeless. I found another one but it is slightly behind the other one!
Millwall have doubled their lead at the New Den against Palace
COME ON BOLTON!!
Liverpool are not many points above the dwop zone
Good morning UWS. Leeds pulled out a late draw with a goal from Becchio. It was definitely Leeds Time.
WELL DONE BOB!
I can't believe that Liverpool last at home to Wolves. Surely Woy must be on his way out if they lose to Bolton today.
The match kicks off at Eastlands as Spiderman sits with the Citeh fans.
ooh, Tevez goes close within 30 seconds!
BTW, I hope Rooney is okay
Citeh attack immediately and Tev shoots just wide.
Millwall are three up
Good news for Bob
Cardiff losing at Ashton Gate
Good news for Bob
Cardiff losing at Ashton Gate
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson on his side's win at West Brom: "Wayne Rooney was exceptional. He drove us on and he was out of this world. He's off the mark and hopefully he'll be on a run now. I thought it was a penalty when Gary Neville clashed with Graham Dorrans in the first half."
West Ham and Wolves playing a vital bottom of the table clash
The Hammers go close early
Millwall now lead Palace 3-0 as Jason Puncheon has scored a hat-trick.
Gossip from England
Leeds want Jonathan Woodgate on loan until the end of the season with the 30-year-old Tottenham defender having returned to fitness following a string of injuries that nearly ended his career. Cardiff and QPR are also interested.
Norwich have taken the lead against QPR and the Blades have taken the lead at Burnley.
Norwich beating QPR
Leicester beating Hull
Sheff Utd beating Burnley
That is some interesting news,UWS. I have never been a Woodgate fan as he is often injured, but he would certainly strengthen the leads defense.
Hart with a nice save! Blackpool could be in the lead here!!
Hart saves well from Taylor- Fletcher. Corner to the Tangerines . Citeh fail to clear the corner and Adam nearly catches Hart at the near post.
Charlton losing at Colchester
Citeh put on the early pressure without creating any real scoring opportunities. Now Blackpool are coming into this match.
Of course, it also said that Woody could also go to Celtic
Sunderland lead Blackburn through a goal by Danny Wellbeck.
I missed that Red Devil Welbeck scored for Sunderland against Rovers
Great minds think alike
Charlton have tied it up
I could see Woodgate going to Celtic.QPR seems realistic as they seem certain for promotion.
Silva shoots just wide after a great one-two with Tev.
Oldham are playing today for the first time since November!
Forest losing at home to Barnsley
Citeh fans thought they were in the lead
Sunderland double their lead with a Bent header
Woody would only move on loan
Sotton take the lead against Exeter
Gerrard off after injuring himself while committing a foul
Stoke take the lead against Everton through Jones
I would love to see Norwich and Bristol City hold on to their leads.
Afternoon, UWS! Very happy with that last ditch Luciano Becchio goal at Elland Road. Yes, two more dropped points at home but still...
We're third, on 41 points, nine from safety.
I take that back.. Gerrard replaces some bloke that hurt himself
Local derby in Cambridge today
United vs Histon
Still scoreless
Kolorov shoots a free kick into the Tangerine wall and Barry cross to nobody.
Morning, lads, and Happy New Year. Any news on West Ham this morning?
Welcome back Bob
You have to happy where you guys are standing
Apparently, they could have won it at the death
When are you going to stop this charade.... PROMOTION MATE... NOT RELEGATION!!
I CALLED IT
Lots of empty seats at Anfield.
Good morning WHR. I think it is 0-0 against Wolves.
Moring John
Still scoreless at Upton Park against Wolves
Afternoon, WHR. 0-0 at Upton Park so far. I'm pulling for you lot big time.
First things first, UWS. We need safety and survival in the Championship first. That's 50 points. Then we can start talking about the playoffs.
West Ham go very close to finding the net
Cole misses a sitter!
The Hammers have been the better team
PROMOTION!!!
Burnley tie it up against the Blades
I agree with UWS. Go for promotion.
Liverpool are 12 points away from the Champions League but 3 for the drop zone
Citeh have done nearly all the attacking, but have not had any shots on target.
Kingson tips over from Tevez.
Tev just had one saved
I feel like a tangerine!
Tevez wins another corner for Citeh.
Citeh take the lead... Johnson from way outside the box
GOAL 1-0 CITHEH AS ADAM JOHNSON SCORES FROM LONG RANGE AS THE CORNER IS HEADED CLEAR.
The Manchester Clubs extend their lead at the top.... London, it's your turn!!
Penalty to Citeh... Yaya gets fouled... Varney can't keep his body off him. Not much of touch
Tevez... misses!
Penalty to Citeh as Varney fouls Yaya. Was the initial foul outside the box?
Tev shoots wide from the penalty. Still 1-0 Citeh.
I've just had a tangerine and my Golden Boot boy has missed a penalty as a consequence! Bloody hell!
Manchester have a five and seven point lead over the London trio as I type
How is Merseyside doing?
Leeds at present have scored 45 and conceded 41. Top of the scoring charts but only the bottom two sides have conceded more than we have.
Of course, Bolton is in Greater Manchester. They're in seventh!
Burnley have tied it up against the Blades as ex United player Eagles scores.
Agreed but your goal difference is +4
QPR and Cardiff are 28 and 11 but the rest are close to your guys
Cardiff are two down
As it stands, the Championship looks like this:
QPR - 47 pts
Norwich - 42
Swansea - 41
Leeds - 41
Cardiff - 40
Reading - 35
Two big games in the division. Norwich are currently leading QPR whilst Swansea and Reading are at 0-0.
That Tevez penalty is Citeh's third in less than a game and half
First shot on target at White Hart Lane
Goal for Bale... down go Chelsea!
There's a goal at Anfield
BOLTON!!!!
Kevin Davies with the goal in front of the Kop
Gareth Bale has given Spurs the lead against Fulham.
Taxi for Woy!
Kevin Davies has scored in front of the Kop to give Bolton a 0-1 lead right at the end of the half.
The Tractor Roys have scored at Coventry
I hope Bolton win at Anfield. I think that would do it for Hodgson, especially after criticizing the fans after the loss to Wolves.
Another slate of games coming up midweek before the Cup starts a week from today
One minute of stoppage time at Eastlands.
I like Woy
Lucas misses a sitter at the back post.
Le Tiss asks how he missed and then he realizes it was Lucas and says 'that's how"
I like Woy
Lucas misses a sitter at the back post.

Home sides both winning 1-0
Yes we do
Arsenal and Citeh play on Wednesday at the Em

Here is the table at half

White North London 36
Has Been London 34
Pretty neat that the local rivals are neck and neck
Fascinating 2011 ahead of us
Burnley now lead the Blades 2-1.
I agree UWS. It should be an exciting second half of the season.
Cambridge United and Histon are drawing 0-0 in the Cambridge Derby.Luton lead Rushden 1-0. Chrlton and Colchester are tied at 2-2 and Plymouth is drawing 0-0 with Yeovil.
Burnley lead the Blades 3-1 at halftime thanks to two stoppage time goals as they begin without Brian Laws in charge. Bob will be pleased.

Great news for John
The Hammers have taken the lead!!
Coventry tie it up against the Tractor Roys and the Blades narrow the deficit to 3-2 at Turf Moor.
Cole whiffs at a chance but OG is there to put it in!
West Ham are out of the drop zone
First time Avram would be out of the bottom 3 since 2009.. He was there with Pompey as well
Great News for the Hammers!
QPR are down to ten men
Forest are two down at home to Barnsley
Cardiff are three nil down at Bristol City
Hart saves well from Matt Phillips.
West Ham goal: How's your luck? Pretty darn good if you are a West Ham fan. The Hammers survive a flurry of Wolves chances, thanks to a couple of superb saves by Robert Green, then break down the other end where Frederic Piquionne's cross is somehow missed in front of goal by Carlton Cole, but hits Wolves defender Roland Zubar on the knee and bounces in.
I can't believe that the Hammers are only five points behind eighth placed Blackpool.
Bristol City now lead Cardiff 3-0.
Zabaletta is on for Kolorov.
Tevez misses another chance.
