Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The Trip

I had the chance to catch "The Trip" on Netflix over the weekend. It features British comedic actors Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon on a road trip through the north of England sampling the wares of swanky restaurants and riffing with each other. Despite this simple premise, it had me laughing out loud for an hour and a half. Plus, the DVD features over an hour of material that was cut out of the US release because it features the two impersonating figures such as Les Dawson, Ronnie Corbett and Basil Brush who are unfamiliar to audiences this side of the pond. Stick it on your queue today. Enjoy!

I went and bought the series. Nasty, brilliant comedy. Loved it.

Bob, you saw it on Netflix.
How did you the edited bits with Les Dawson, Little Ronnie and Basil?

It was a six episode series on BBC2 (?) late last year. Brydon and Coogan rip on each other the entire time. I doubt there was much of a script to go on. You wonder where real life and the comedy began and ended in the essence of the program. They were hitting close to home with many of the cracks.

Good to know, Someone. I thought it was a one off but I did notice the BB2 tag on some of the YouTube clips. I assume the DVD version I saw was made for the American market.

On the DVD bonus section, there was about a 90 minute sequence called "Deleted Scenes," which had all of the impressions of Les Dawson, Ronnie Corbett, Basil Brush, etc. Great stuff!
