Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Thanks for the post, mate. Unfortunately, I'll be downtown at the Occupy Fredonia Rally today. I'm going to catch up with the match later.
Come on, Engerland!
Understood. Wear a poppy, eh?
Little brothers!!
One of the few times you are able to join us and he buggers off!!!
Great t-shirt image shown
Surprising no-one, 'arry Redknapp is going to ring in the new year in the dock answering tax evasion charges.
"We gonna rock down to,
the Inland Revenue,
and have a laugh at 'arry!"
Bailiff, take him down... into the Championship!

We're off
Hiya Stevie
Is it a 4-3-3??
What a result for Ireland yesterday!
Think so, Bent in the middle, Walcott and Milner forward on the wings, no?
Wales beat Norway today 4-1.... good on em
AFC Totton beat Bradford PA 8-1 in the Cup
Incredible. I haven't listened yet, but a friend sent me the Irish feed to the highlights with the commentator going absolutely mental.
Jones and and who on the outside?
Lamps and Parker are both central players
I'd love to hear that
I'll forward it.
Jones and Johnson operating as attacking full-backs.
How times have changed
Lamps first appearance for England was against Spain
A ho-hum three nil victory
England worse... Spain... slightly better!!
Uh, but it's not working. The Spanish are just a whisker away from springing Iniesta there
Johnson and Cashley are the full backs
Why can't England pass like Spain
Hmmm, they started out 4-3-3, but the shape now is 4-5-1. Possibly already frightened of what their middies can do.
Get the ball over Johnson!!!
Spain is the best national 11 at the moment, but I think it's less about their passing than their work-rate. I don't know of any team that is so confident going forward and so tenacious in getting the ball back.
Is Torres even in the squad?
I hope Bob is freezing his Ghoolies off right now!
I agree with you about work rate but their passing is like the Arsenal of old... except these guys actually score too!
Wonder when the appeal for Rooney is going to be decided
Martin just said it could be decreased OR increased!
I expect Fernando is in the squad. Del Bosque is pretty patient with him, but he really doesn't fit.
In fact, I'm not sure that Silve fits with Xavi. I think they'd be better off playing the 4 Barca middies with Cesc fitting in the Messi role, Villa up front. I know that sectarianism is part of the Spanish equation though. For me though, it would be only Casillas and Ramos from Real that would get in the starting 11. The rest, Barca.
Here are today's subs
Carson, Walker, Baines, Cahill, Terry, Barry, Rodwell, Johnson, Downing, Zamora, Welbeck, Sturidge, Stockdale
Valdes, Albiol, Puyol, Torres, Fab, Monreal, Mata, Liorente, Santi Cazorla, Jesus Navas, Reina
I'd like to see Sturidge and Welbeck get a game
Nice of you to say, but I've never seen a team hunt in packs so tenaciously and then tik-tak-tik into an attack.
I remember in the late seventies where England played an almost entire all conquering Liverpool... they were hopeless!
I am going to Google it
Mata, Torres and Fab can't even get a front row seat on the bench!!!
Completely agree. Sturridge and Wellbeck are the future and we know what Bent's about. I'd like to see Rodwell and that young winger at Villa. And Ashley Young, too, though presumably if it's not a friendly, he's third on the team sheet at the moment.
True, but we were deluding ourselves that Liverpool were unbeatable. Barca are in a class by themselves. If they play their game, unbeatable. You have to match them for defensive tenaciousness, and score with better than 30% of your chances. It's an extraordinary coincidence that so many of them are collectively at their peak. They think they can continue by bringing Cesc in for Xavi's eventual decline, but that doesn't account for Puyol going gray at the same moment. They too will fade.
Six players from Liverpool started for England in a scoreless friendly against Switzerland in 1977
Clemence, Neal, McDermott, Hughes, Kennedy and Callaghan
Seven United players were on the field for few minutes together in a 3-1 WC Q game against Albania
G Neville, Becks, Butt, Scholes, Cole, Brown and Teddy
The record is held by ARSENAL
in a friendly against World Champs Italy in 1934
SEVEN started
It wasn't much a of a friendly, the game became known as "The Battle of Highbury"
England won 3-2
END OF TRIVIA!
England defending well against Spain, but when they intercept there's absolutely no pace in their counter attack.
Parker just illustrated why we can't match up with Spain. Great open field tackle, but instead of being confident of either holding the ball, or putting a short pass through to an open player, he tried immediately to spring Bent. The ball to Bent was errant, but the run he made brought both of their center-halves together to mind him. It's the work-rate, and the knowledge that patient build-up works, mate.
The colorman agreed with me
Again, another chance to break...England slow it down!
Hart should arrested wearing that shirt!
It is almost as bad as Timmy's camouflage shirt!
I know that patient build up works but still do things with pace.... passing included!
England's passing is panicked. I think that the pass completion stats at the half are going to tell most of the story here. With them, there's always an outlet close and open. With us it's a 15 yard pass, poorly hit, poorly controlled and they've got it again.
See? After good work from Walcott, is there any midfielder who's screaming at him close-by? No, so he attempts a 30 yard floater right into the chest of the center half that's not Pique. That's England.
Again, has even Busquets hit a ball that slack yet? No, and they wont.
And there, Lammpard hustles to intercept, but his control goes back to the goalkeeper. If that's Alonso, Xavi or even the odious Biscuits, he's got that ball under control and an outlet within 10 yards.
Milner in the book for a foul against Ramos.. who went down like a sack of potatoes!
Good morning lads. I am chatting from Starbucks because the Internet is down at mu house for The Bloomin' Friendly. How is everyone?
Just great David. Getting your Pumpkin Spice Latte on?
Nice try by Theo there
Sorry, it was Johnson
I am sans food and beverages. Just here for the Wi Fi.
rolandgodfrey17 on Twitter: "Can we please start referring to England's opponents as Sparcelona? I feel it more appropriate.
Ramos cannot defend. Why aren't we exploiting that more?
7MDA7 on Twitter: "Did Theo Walcott play rugby as a boy? He keeps trying to find touch."
Half time with no goals
Cue the subs!
Wow, that went super-quick. Back in a tick.
Halftime and 0-0 as the teams go into the dressing room.
I am off to store. I'll be back too
BTW, I had a nice little conversation with Joel this morning.
He said that he had seen all the Dosedel recently
I have no volume as I am using the school lap top and it is super slow. One shot on goal a piece sounds like a snooze fest.
How are Joel and the Doesedels?
Engelrund plays Sweden on Tuesday and The U.S. is in Slovenia the same day as the teams come out of the tunnel.
Liversox's Reina is on for Casillas.Cesc is on for Xavi and Juan Mata is on for David Silva.
Excellent, only 45 injury free minutes for Theo. Downing on for him.
God's chess-piece on for Xavi.
The second half kicks off from Wemberley.
Is Cesc playing only the second half because he no longer plays for ArSENAL?
We changed the beverage status. Ice coffee for yours truly and hot chocolate for Jacquelyn.
I reckon he's still behind Xavi in their estimation.
Spain are blessed, eh? Iniesta, Xavi, Cesc, Mata, Silva, all at their peak. Wow.
GOAL !!! 1-0 ENGELUND AS BENT HEADS A MILNER FREE KICK ON TO THE POST AND LAMPS PUTS AWAY AN EASY REBOUND AFTER MILNER WON THE FREE KICK.
OK, hit me with the Nostra-bleedin-damus remarks.
Bent beats defender-in-name-only Ramos and Lampard snaffled the rebound.
Piss off Don Fabio and let the Gooner sit.
This game desperately needed a goal. I hope that opens things up.
Milner deserves the credit for that great run down the left where he won the free kick and for putting in such a great free kick.
Testify! Best ball played by England of the night from Milner.
How was that a foul by Parker. He got al ball with the tackle?
I am back... WOW... ENGLAND 1-0... I'll have to rewind
phew... David Villa rounds Hart but goes to wind and he can't finish it
Welcome MUR
uh oh... bloody Barry is on
Rodwell-yes! Barry, eh?
The bloody link is acting up!
Hello UWS. How was your day off yesterday? How are Joel and the Doesedels?
The link is up and working. I missed that Spain chance when the link was acting up.
OK seriously? No props for pointing out that making Ramos defend was key?
No calls for the Gooner to take the helm? 'arry's going to be at Her Majesties pleasure for the foreseeable, and I can wind up Andy Carroll and pretend not to speak English. C'mon!
Sergio Ramos goes in the book.
Now Cesc AKA His Majesty goes in the book.
My day off was full of coaching
Joel is doing well. He said the Dosedels are doing well
Who came on for Bent?
Nearly right. Cesc's not mortal. But his heavenly elbow felled Jags pretty dangerously there. He is a vengeful God!
Free kick chance for Sparcelona
Into the wall
I have been out of touch for too many years. I have nobody to blame , but myself.
i am not wearing a poppy. I am wearing a gray tank top and gray shorts as I went straight from yoga to Starbucks.
Sturridge! Wellbeck! The future is here.
Torres, this could turn farcical.
Welbeck is on for Bent
Should it have been his goal
Torres gets booed coming on... why? We should be happy with him coming on... he sucks
El Nino is on for Busquets. I guess SPain don't want to win this match. The useless on for the mentally insane.
I'm wearing my Terry Butcher head wound shirt and flying the 3 Lions off the front porch.
I agree, UWS. All credit to Milner and as Gooner stated thanks to Ramos for so called defending.
Rodwell with a break... never a foul
Who's their #18? That was pretty crazy!
My Man Yoo shirt is in the car. I was hot when I left yoga and it has become warmer and more humid after a nice day yesterday.
I knew this was going to happen... I know this was said tongue in cheek but it will be said!
EbrahimDaji on Twitter: "This settles it. We are good enough to win the World Cup."
1837: If England beat Spain then do they automatically become world champions?!
My England shirt is three to four sozes too samll for me if that tells you how old the shirt is.
I do have a few England shirts but I can never wear a United or England shirt while they are playing. I will be the cause of their loss!
In fact, I can't wear anything during game time
That's the one with Styles on the back?
I am not sure about that. The same was sadi in 1975 when England beat West Germany, then they didn't qualify for the next World Cup. They have to do the businees this summer and roll up their sleeves.
In that case UWS, I'm not answering your Skype.
Understood, UWS. I do almost the same , depending upon the season.
My point is that it is always said... 'they're world beaters"
ooh, David Villa hits the post
Huh... skype?
I don't mind answering the skype. It gives me the right to do the same on skype! 0:)
That was a great strike from DV
As for Enlgand's goal, did Bent's header hit a post and then Lamps hit it in or was it going in and Lamps snatched it?
"I can't wear anything during game time"
Keep up UWS!
OH !!! off the offside of the post by David Villa. Nearly 1-1.
Bent beat Ramos, the ball hit the post and Lamps got the rebound.
Santi Carzola is on for Iniesta.
ahh... sorry... anything United... Safe enough skyping... no nakedness from Nocito!
Milner replaced by Johnson
Strewth! Villa very unlucky.
Milner's had his good day cut short. On comes Adam Johnson.
Adam Johnson is on for Milner.
Engelund concede a corner from a Mata cross.
A typical Sparcelona short corner for the next corner.
OOOOHH, a better return ball from Welbeck and Johnson was away there.
The official attendance is 87189.
I don't like to see Welbeck all alone by miles
That's not a hand-ball from Puyol?
from the beeb
1850: I forgot to tell you earlier, Chelsea hitman Fernando Torres is on. Surely, we're in for some late comedy... erm... drama.
England are becoming desperate
Why didn't Fab shoot there!!!!
I agree with the drama and the twitter statement.
England very lucky again. GCP in two minds there.
If England hold on it will be a miracle. The Armada is coming in waves now.
under 10 to go
Who's the mug commentating with Martin Tyler?
Choppy seas ahead !
The beat the Armada before!!
I don't have any volume , so I miss the banter an wit from the talking heads!
Kyle Walker on for Parker... not exactly positive!
Uh, the Irish and their sea did.
Walker on for Parker.
useless pass by A. Johnson
Kyle Walker is on for fellow Spur Scott Parker as part of Fab's contractual obligation.
Whoever it is said that Fabregas has a rep for going over easily.
Idiot.
Did you notice the Ipswich connection with the Irish? Current Tractor Boy ,Keith Andrews scored, and former Tractor Boy Jon Wlaters scored.
Why do they lose at home to Doncaster then!!!!
That's right... England will WORLD and EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS!!
Useless cross by Downing
Two Leeds players were in the bench. BD will be pleased.Irish squad. Darren O'Dea and Andy Keogh were on the Irish bench. BD will be pleased.
I am not sure. I guess the rest of the Tractor Boys suck.
Good save by Hart. Torres did pretty well to cross crisply to Cesc.
Ooof, Cesc just wide.
You reckon 4 minutes more of this?
I wonder if Doncaster are better than Estonia!
Into stoppage time. Three minutyes of stoppage time.
3 minutes. That's helpful.
C'mon, hold on ENGLAND!!!!
If we could get the ball off them, they're sending Pique forward all the time. FEED WELBECK DEEP!!!
In the final minute.
ENGLAND WIN!
NEW WORLD CHAMPIONS!
That's it . Engerlund beat the world champs 1-0.
Well Done!
SNATCH! GRAB! ENGLAND WINS!!!
Is there a trophy handy to throw under a bus?
Right lads, need to get back to the chore routine. Been a pleasure. Someone go defrost BDB!
A great win, albeit with a scrappy goal. They all count.
It was great chatting.
CHEERS EVERYONE!
TTFN
Way hay! I'm delighted with that result and I really enjoyed your comments today, lads, as I watched on tape delay.
I suppose that will mean that the Fleet Street hacks with be all about England having turned back the Armada and odds on favorites now to win 2012 (sigh).
DID YOU KNOW?
The last time England beat the world champions was in 1980 against Argentina at Wembley
We were there!!
