Champions League Trivia!
Here's a brain teaser to get you excited for tomorrow's Champions League Final clash between Chelski and Bayern Munich: "Only 20 players have made more than 100 appearances in the Champions League. Ten of them have made those appearances for one club. How many of those 10 players can you name?" Best of luck, chaps!

I am confused about the question
Did these players make their 100 appearances ONLY for this one club or could they have made appearances for other clubs as part of their 100?
I know of Giggs, Raul , Paolo Maldini,Scholes,Ballack John Terry and Fernando Hierro. Are those correct?
I would like to add Rio Ferdinand.
Yes, UWS - the 10 players I'm looking for made their 100+ appearances for only one club. There are 10 other mercenary types who've hopped around Europe playing for any number of clubs (e.g., Zlatan).
MUR is correct with Giggsy, Scholes, and Maldini. Ballack, Hierro and everyone's favorite racist England skipper are shy of the mark. I suspect that Hierro's Real career predated the CL a bit, otherwise he would surely have been on the list.
So that's three answered - seven to go. Any guesses, UWS? Others?
I was still confused. I thought it was ONE team that had all of those players!
Rooney?
Gary Neville has to be there
Puyol?
Oliver Kahn?
I don't think Roon would , but perhaps Gary Neville, Kahn ,and Puyol.I was thinking of Puyol. Are you sure Raul doesn't have 100 CL appearances with Real? How about Lothar Mattheus?
How about these Serie A players:
Javier Zanetti, Alessandro Del Piero,,and Inzaghi.
Morning, lads - let me start with UWS's guesses:
The Neviller is #4
Puyol is #5
Oli Kahn is #6
Not Roon - he's still shy of the mark.
And now for MUR's guesses:
Zanetti is #7
Neither Inzaghi nor Del Piero have 100 - I suspect that their careers slightly predated the CL again. Lothar Mattheus is well before the CL.
Raul is a crazy one. He's the current top appearance holder at 144; however, only 96 of them were for Real - the others have been for Shalke. Why didn't he stay at the Bernabeu for four more games!!
Still three players to guess - two of them are fairly obvious but the third one I don't think you'll ever get. No cheating, lads!
Casillas and Xavi of Barca?
Those are #s 8 and 9 - well in, UWS.
The last one is some bloke named Roar Strand from Rosenberg who I've never heard of but it makes sense. They've been perennials in the group stages for years so a standby for them would have a few caps.
I was going to say him :o
