Early Morning Yorkshire Derby
I'm losing some precious weekend sleep again because those weak kneed among the British constabulary have decided that the fan support for the Mighty LUFC are a wee bit too difficult for them to handle at 3 in the afternoon. It's Huddersfield v. Leeds and it's the bleeding crack of dawn here in Blue Devil HQ. Join me for this one and the rest of the Saturday schedule, won't you?

I've spent the last half hour trying to find a link for the Yorkshire derby - nothing doing. So, I'm turning my eyes toward ESPN2's coverage of the London derby West Ham v. Chelski.
The Yorkshire derby has started - here are the teams:
Huddersfield - Smithies, Hunt, Clarke, Gerrard, Lynch, Arfield, Atkinson, Clayton, Ward, Lee, Church.
Leeds - Kenny, Byram, Lees, Tate, Peltier, Green, Tonge, Norris, Thomas, Becchio, McCormack.
Good morning , BD. I've been up for an hour . Just got back from dropping Melanie off at the school for the bus ride to a tennis tournament
Come on, you Whites - MOT!
Is it the usual link for the match?
A very early morning to you, MUR - great to have you on board. Hope Melanie enjoys her tennis tournament today.
Can't find a link for the Yorkshire Derby unfortunately. Must not be televised.
I don't see a link for the match
The big news out of Upton Park is that Andy Carroll has picked up a bad knee injury, which will have him out for 6-8 weeks. No wonder he looked so arsed off coming off the pitch the other day.
Elizabeth got me FSC+. Ian and Macca will be broadcasting the Hammers vs Chelsea while FSC + while be doing Harrogate Town vs Hasting United in the cup. One of those could have a dream trip to OT while you and Steve are here
At 10 AM there will be three matches to choose from on me telly. Two Prem matches and BEIN will broadcast Palace vs Brighton
Do you know when the draw for the 3rd Round is on?
What a minute - a goal out of Huddersfield.....
Bugger - to the home side. 1-0
Kick off time at Upton Park.
Just saw that. Sorry Bob. Kickoff from Upton Park
Did you see that I now have FSC+. They have Harrowgate Town vs Hastings United in the Cup, kicking off in about fifteen minutes
No goals in 180 minutes for Rafa's new look Chelski:
West Ham United: Jaaskelainen, Reid, Collins, Demel, Tomkins, O'Brien, Noble, Nolan, O'Neil, Jarvis, Cole.
Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Cole, Mikel, Ramires, Hazard, Mata, Moses, Torres.
Raffa makes his away debut as Chelsea boss.
Sounds like a cracker, mate - enjoy that battle of the minnows.
A change of venue may change that. Raffa yet to leave London as Chelsea boss.
One of those minnows will go into the hat in the Third Round for a possible dream match at OT
Inverness Callie take the lead at Ross County in an all SPL Highland Derby Cup Tie
Jarvis does well to win a corner off of Azpiecuieta with a tricky run. Cech with a weird punch off the corner, but it seems to work
The Hammers have started as the better team. I hope WHR celebrates with a victory today
Any idea when they'll do the 3rd Round draw? That will be interesting for our reunion plans.
Only four points out of the last 24 for Chelsea according to satto Ian.Their worst run since 1995, the Hoddle Days.
I am not sure. I can google that. I may watch the all non league cup tie instead of this match or do the pip option.
Kevin Nolan - so dangerous from long balls.
Wish we were going to get a crack at Chelski in this form - unfortunately our League Cup tie isn't until December 19th. Rafa might have figured things out by then.
According to Sunderland's web site it should be at 2:40 GST tomorrow, which would be around 9:40 AM EST tomorrow morning
GOAL! Rafa is off the mark with a lovely team goal and stroked finish by Juan Mata!
0-1!
GOAL!!!! CHELSEA SCORE THEIR FIRST UNDER RAFFA AS JUAN MATA GIVES CHELSEA THE LEAD
That should give El Nino some confidence. He made a lovely run and pulled it back perfectly for his Spanish mate Mata to knock in with his left peg. Mata ran straight over to him to thank him for the assist.
THE GOAL STARTED WITH RAFFA, HIMSELF! He quickly gave the ball to Azpiecuieta to take the throw, who found Moses , who found Torres and his superb pass was superbly finished by Mata
I've got the rare opportunity to play some footer this afternoon. Some of the students who were involved in the indoor tournament a few weeks back have organized a kickabout over on the campus pitch.
Raffa, El Matador, deserves credit too.
I suppose Rafa should get an assist on that.
Sounds like loads of fun, BD.
A great trivia question: Which manager assisted on his team's first goal under his leadership?
I'm off to the Pennines for Harrowgate vs Hastings. A scouting job for SAF?
A beautiful sunny day in the Pennines ,. Elizabeth is delighted.
One team in black and yellow stripes, the other wearing maroon shirts and white shorts.
I love it. AN old fashioned, muddy pitch with boot marks.LOVELY!
I'm with Macca - I expected the Hammers to have more of an "up and at 'em" approach to this match but they've been shellshocked by that early goal.
Just like AYA woth long throws down the touchline. Is Hastings from Kent. If so, a long journey for a non league team
YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!! LEEDS TIE IT UP
YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!! LEEDS TIE IT UP
Another goal out of Huddersfield......
1-1! YESSSSSSSS!
Michael Tonge with his fourth goal of the season.
And another!!!!!! 1-2!
Becchio with his 15th!
Oh - Torres had a half chance there but lofted it easily over the bar. Should have done better.
Well done, Leeds!
Well done, Leeds!
Wow - that goal lifts us five places to 10th - that's how densely packed the mid-table is in the Championship - lots of sides around 27, 28, 29 points.
Becchio's goals have been priceless to us while Ross McCormack has been injured. He's back in the starting 11 today - hope he gets on the scoresheet. Still - Luciano is on a rate to finish with 30+ goals this season.
Harrowgate Town are definitely the favorites as they are in the Conference North, the 6th tier of English footie while Hastings United are in the Isthmian PL, the 7th tier of English footie. Also Hastings, which is midway between Brighton and Dover is a long journey up to the Pennines for a team playing regional footie.
Me too. Leeds should be near a playoff spot. The other big match is Palace vs Brighton on BEIN at 10 AM.
Chelski playing it about for fun now.
Bugger! 2-2 at Huddersfield. Wish I had a link for it. It looks like a right old ding-dong there.
Harrogate nearly took the lead as a player was through with just the keeper to beat , but the Hastings keeper made a save at the player's feet. Good keeping even by EPL standards.
And of course it's our old boy Adam Clayton who's scored Huddersfield's second with a penalty. Becchio gave away the pen. From hero to villain.
WOW! Desmond at Huddersfield as they approach halftime.
Shame I'm going to miss out on the MLS Cup final - I've got to pick up a friend at the airport after my kickabout.
Harrogate of the 6th tier starting to dominate Hastings of the 7th tier . Prior to now it hard to tell which team was higher up the pyramid.
The ball's in the net for Kevin Nolan but James Collins is penalized for a climb.
Sorry Bob. I was going to ask you about blogging it, but that will give me extra family time
Half time at Huddersfield after a thrilling first half.
Desmond!
Harrogate's best chance from a great passing move, but the shot from the D was a couple of yards wide.
Now I have both matches on
Is one of these teams on a hiding to nothing if they get their dream draw tomorrow?
Looks a lot like Mildenhall Village in the Pennines on a nice sunny day
Getting physical on a cold sunny day as the ref lectures a Harrogate player. Their keeper has been in the wars as he has been down injured twice and has made a great save.
Chelski are cutting through the Hammers like a hot knife through butter. I blame WHR for his absence from the LOB this morning. What could he be thinking?
Great through ball by Ramires. but just too long for Cashley
Great through ball by Ramires. but just too long for Cashley
Naughty from WHR and UWS. I woke up at 5:30 AM after a long week teaching
Naughty from WHR and UWS. I woke up at 5:30 AM after a long week teaching
Peter Cech is penalized for a punch outside the box. Yellow for that. Could have been red. Came from a nothing long punt up the pitch. A nice oppo for West Ham here.
Nearly the lead for visiting Hastings as there were two blocked shots in a congested six yard box.
A late chance for the Hammers. Naughty Pietr.
Collins over this one to smash it....
Oh - and a great save from Nolan's header!
Superb tip over by Cech from a Jarvis header after the free kick from Collins came off the wall
Sorry, Nolan;s header. Halftime and Chelsea lead 0-1 at Upton Park. They have yet to concede since Raffa took over, but came close about a minute ago.
Still scoreless in the Pennines. Hard to tell which is the 6th tier team and which is the 7th tier.
Still only one televised goal. Two channels at once not better than one?
I think the second half is underway from Huddersfield. It's all happening in North and West Yorkshire.
Hastings have a free kick just outside the box.
The free kick is headed out to the halfway line. A lot of pace, but not height on the free kick
We're back on for the second half at Huddersfield. I've just finished a bit of the Leeds United Calypso. MOT!
Jayne Mansfield take the lead at Abe Lincoln City in an East Midlands Derby all Conference Cup Tie
Did you feel a little Desmond?
Underdog Hastings, have had few problems with Harrogate
GOAL !!!!
HARROGATE TAKE THE LEAD WITH A SCRAPPY GOAL OFF A CORNER/ POOR DEFENDING FROM 7TH TIER HASTINGS AS THE CORNER WAS LOFTED, BOTH TEAMS MISSED THE BALL, THEN A HARROGATE PLAYER INSIDE THE BOX CHIPPED IT IN AND IT WAS HEADED IN FROM SIX YARDS OUT IN A CROWDED BOX.
Leeds or Huddersfield could have another local derby with Harrogate when you and Steve are visiting.
The menu for 10 AM:
FSC : Citeh vs Everton
FSC + Arsenal vs Swansea
BEIN : Palace vs Brighton
Which two should I pick, Bob?
The menu for 10 AM:

Good Morning Fellas
I have watched the first half upstairs. I didn't know I was missing other matches
Chelsea have looked better... West Ham have NOT
Nearly a second for Harrogate as a player shot into the side netting when a pass was a better option.
Second half about to get underway
West Ham have made two changes
Correct , UWS. Just wide from long range from Harrogate as there are three minutes of stoppage time.
I have a SS link going strong
Morning, Sleepyhead. Welcome!
Thompkins came on for Diame, but I did not see the other change.
I am watching this match and Harrogate vs Hastings on FSC + at the same time. Does anyone want a match vs Harrogate or Hastings in the third round.
Why don't West Ham by Kevin Davies from Bolton in January? That would complete the Fat Sam revolution at Upton Park.
I'll take that fixture, for sure. We usually get someone like United, Arsenal or Liverpool in the 3rd round.
Big Nose saying Liverpool should have more points because of offside decisions
Halftime and 1-0 to Harrogate.
Before I forget my manners, Good morning UWS
A bit better now from the Hammers.
That would be a fifteen mile journey for Leeds to the foothills of the Pennines
A much better half ALREADY from West Ham
Is Leeds still 2-1 up after being down
Two successive corners for the Hammers as Cech is fouled.
Oi - who you calling "Big Nose!?"
It's Desmond at Huddersfield
No - it's Desmond now.
Just heard it was Desmond... missed that update from you guys
I agree, BD. KD would be a perfect fit in Fat Sam's system
Listen.. Phil Thompson does come from Nose City
Bob at 8:15 and 8:19 and me at 8:17.
Abe Lincoln ties it up vs Jayne Mansfield in an East Midlands Fa Cup Tie.
Cahill is in the wars again; he's been heroic blocking shots today. Got kicked in the face for his troubles.
Nolan with a shot blocked and then Cole called for a foul.. he did nothing!
Nolan has a shot blocked then Gary Cahill takes one on the Big Nose.
Some advice please. I can watch tow matches at a time:
Citeh vs Everton on FSC
Arsenal vs Swansea FSC+
Palace vs Brighton on BEIN
Which two of the three should I pick?
Jarvis wins a corner off of Azpiecuietia.
I'd go Citeh v. Everton and Palace v. Brighton.
The Arsenal v. Swansea will be a bore, I predict.
Torres heads away the corner from Mark Noble.
Did you hear Darke say that Rio said there a hairy flight for United into Reading?
Decent move by Arsenal
Great block by Ivanovic from Nolan
Ta, BD. Gooner will not appreciate it, but I think you are correct.
Yeah - apparently Rio tweeted about a difficult flight through the fog last night.
Goal at Huddersfield to LEEDS!
UYESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
LEEDS LEAD 2-3 AT SIMON'S LOT.
West Ham are definitely playing like they did at Old Trafford this half
YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
2-3 Leeds!
I saw that it was foggy during a rugger match I was watching last night. It was Sale vs Northampton. Definitely not flying weather.
David Norris with the Leeds goal. Twenty minutes remaining
It's David Norris with his third goal of the season to give us the lead at Huddersfield.
From 365: "David Norris finds the net with a goal from deep inside the penalty box to the bottom right corner of the goal, assisted by Ryan Hall."
Blow up, ref!
Why do all of a sudden have FSC+ ?
I know I did last year but it was because the boys 'accidentally' ordered it!
JT and Lampard have great seats.Lucky Buggers!
I'd have Spitty Diouf on at this point to waste some time with his usual bollocks.
Talking about the MLS... Becks leaving LA... Lamps to take his place?
The missus ordered it for me on Thursday. I didn't find out until I came home.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CARLTON COLE!!!!!!
GOAL! Carlton Cole with the equalizer - and it's all they deserved!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
1-1 AS CARLTON COLE SCORES HIS FIRST GOAL OF THE SEASON.
Nice one by the missus
I am surprised the Ref didn't call for a foul
I'm not sure what Chelski have been playing at this half. They were all over West Ham in the first half and they've completely backed off them since half time.
Oh - Chelski nearly responded immediately there. Torres tried to thread the needle - blocked out.
STRUTH... Chelsea had two chances.. saved twice
Chelsea nearly back in the lead, but a great block , then a great save from Jussi.
Mark Noble, only just back from suspension, goes in with a XXX tackle. Gets a yellow.
Mark Noble is booked for a foul
Oh - off the bar from the Mata free kick!
Mata off the woodwork!
OH! OFF THE SUNDAY ROAST FROM THAT FREE KICK BY MATA!
Big Sam really made a difference with his half time talk and changes... SAF hasn't done that as of late
Thanks, UWS. It was a pleasant surprise and I watched Sale vs Northampton or what I could see through the fog.Now watching Harrogate vs Hastings in the FA Cup
Merse is down on the Arse
Worst performance since they 'got hit 8"
It's clear that Fat Sam rattled some teacups at half. time for sure.
Which one was the worst performance - their draw v. Everton in midweek?
I agree, UWS. The replay showed that Cole climbed on Ivanovic off the deflected cross from Jarvis. Also agree about the halftime talks. Should Lady Fergie give the hairdryer treatment.
Darke says that if Chelsea don't win that will be 7 straight int he league without a win... longest streak since 94 or 95
Raffa not pleased as the Hammers have had ten corners. He is discovering that he has a lot of work ahead of him.
A little over ten minutes left at Huddersfield. Blow up, ref!
What did Chelsea do in the 93-94 season that no other team in the Prem did?
Ian said it's Chelsea's worst run since 1995, the Glenn Hoddle days!
Still no Spitty - what's Warnock playing at?
They did the double over Man United.
Never a foul, Great tackle.
Able Lincoln now leads Jayne Mansfield 2-1 in the FA Cup.
YES THEY DID... BUT WE HAMMERED THEM IN THE CUP FINAL FOUR NIL!!!
We actually did beat every other team in the league that year.
Hazard's form has dropped off significantly since the first few matches with Chelski. And he's about to be replaced by Oscar.
Speaking of Lincoln... I went with a couple buddies to see the movie last night
I enjoyed it. I did read Team of Rivals as well... not last night!!
A classic all SPL Scottish Cup Tie as it finishes 3-3 between Ross County Callie in the Loch Ness Derby. Great entertainment for Nessie.
Are Manchester United EVER going to play well and get a duck soup win?
Ta, UWS. I was thinking of seeing that movie . A great performance by Daniel Day Lewis?
He was good... he will definitely win the Oscar
Agreed, BD. Oscar for Hazard a great change. I guess he's not any better than Micky Hazard.
Agreed, BD. Oscar for Hazard a great change. I guess he's not any better than Micky Hazard.
Lincoln is magnificent. Two and a half hours about the process of passing a Constitutional amendment...and it's riveting entertainment. Towering performance by Daniel Day Lewis. Enjoy!
YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!
Becchio has wrapped up the points for us with a fourth goal. And his 16th. Wow!
A full fledged fight between Harrogate and Hastings as there were about fifteen players involved. Credit to the officials as it was quickly broken up. One player booked for a foul and the other for starting it when he thought it was simulation.
Another assist for Ryan Hall - our new loan player. He's made an impact for us today off the bench.
Wa hay... FOUR TWO LEEDS
BECCHIO!!
Congrats, Bob. About a minute plus stoppage time . That will be a magnificent result.
Ta, BD and UWS. A must watch. Talking about that it is now Desmond between Abe Lincoln and Jayne Mansfield. The score that is and nothing more.
It will be - no wins for six weeks and now three wins on the trot against decent opposition. I don't understand it at all.
But we're 10th now on 29 points from 20 matches. -2 GD. Three points now from the playoff spots.
Definite Oscar?
I am not sure, UWS. I sure hope it's victory at the Reading Railroad as United should have a monopoly.
Wins against some strong teams too!!
Oh - and Lincoln is based in part on the work of your favorite historian, Doris Kearns Goodwin, UWS.
boom boom MUR
GOAL !!! 1-1 AS HASTINGS , THE UNDERDOGS, TIE IT UP AT HARROGATE. BOTH TEAMS IN THE HAT TOMORROW?
I read Team of Rivals... did you?
I don't want Chelsea to get Bradford City at home from the draw.. how about Liverpool away.. i'd like that
Ta, UWS. Harrogate nearly back in the lead as the keeper punched away a long range rocket.
Well - it's going to be a tough competition for Best Actor this time around. I thought Phillip Seymour Hoffman was outstanding in The Master, John Hawkes is incredible as a disabled guy in The Sessions, and I'm hearing a lot of buzz about DeNiro's performance in Silver Linings Playbook - haven't seen it yet. But Daniel is one to beat - he absolutely inhabits a character that everyone knows - you completely forget that you're watching an actor playing Lincoln.
