PSG v. Barca Live!
We may still be mourning the reality that there are no British clubs left in the Champions League this season; however, there is a big, big match to watch this afternoon, as the Quarterfinals start. PSG, flush with Qatari money, against Barca live from the Parc des Princes. It doesn't get any better. Join me this afternoon from 2:45 onward.

I'm home from my earlier class just in time to join in the festivities live from Paris.
The big news - David Beckham makes his first start for PSG in the Champions League. Cor!
The team news:
PSG: Sirigu; Jallet, Silva, Alex, Maxwell; Matuidi, Beckham; Moura, Pastore, Lavezzi; Ibrahimovic. Subs: Douchez, Sako, Van der Wiel, Menez, Chantôme, Verratti, Gameiro
Barcelona: Valdes, Alves, Mascherano, Pique, Jordi Alba; Busquets, Iniesta, Xavi; Villa, Messi, Alexis. Subs: Pinto, Bartra, Montoya, Fábregas, Thiago Alacántra, Song, Tello.
Referee: Wolfgang Stark
In the other one today, Bayern host Juve - not a bad match either!
Barca get us underway in their weird day-glo away kit.
Danny Alves has the ball in the net after some neat interplay with Messi but he's ruled out for a push.
Oh - great chance for PSG. Lavezzi has a shot rocketed off the Sunday roast. And Piquet nearly stuck the rebound in his own net. Close call!
Bayern have taken an early lead against Juve through Alaba.
Oh - Pastore lets fly with a low drive and Valdez didn't look entirely comfortable about it.
Oh - now it's Iniesta coming close with a curler that nearly found the corner.
Now Zlatan picks up a free kick outside the box from a Route 1 ball from the keeper. Piquet gets the yellow for the hack.
Strangely it's not Becks but Zlatan who tests Valdez from the free kick.
Now it's Becks with a great corner in, punched out by Valdez.
Second place Hull against third place Watford is the big match in the Championship today.
Great tackle by Thiago Silva on Mess in the area - no room for error on that one.
Good afternoon, BD.I will be around for the remainder of the first half
Lots of possession from Barca but no real directness. In contrast, PSG look dangerous every time they attack. Zlatan should have scored there but he dragged his shot wide.
I have it and it' s 0-0 as PSG counter and Zlatan shoots well wide against his former club.
Did you do the Leeds calypso yesterday? You must be delighted that the Warnker was Wrnocked.
I wonder what is up with the high aerial view?
PSG still look the slightly better side here, with real purpose to their play.
Messi ran into a cul de sac and the dangerous Lucas nearly started another counter.
I agree, BD. You must be having a great day and the sun is shining in Leeds after the events of yesterday
Again lots of tippy tap, but Barca can't get through that navy blue wall/
Two Barca shots easily blocked and PSG win a free kick.Tito Villaneuva back as Barca boss as he was absent several months due to a battle with throat cancer.
Barca really gambling with a high line. Probably because they don't feel confident that their defenders can handle the likes of Lavezzi and Zlatan one on one.
A decent PSG ATTACK, BUT lAVAZZI IS FLAGGED OFFSIDE.
Wasted free kick by Beckham as the meaningless stats were just posted.
Barca may have 68% of the possession and over 200 passes, but have they managed a shot on target???
Decent move from Barca ending with Alexis Sanchez jinking inside and firing just wide.
Better from Barca as Danny Alves wins a corner. Finally, some width.
GOAL! Messi - who else?
0-1 Barca!
The corner from Xavi was headed away, but Barca maintain possession.
Shocking defending there from PSG. They cleared their lines from the corner but then Messi was able to break the offside trap far too easily when the ball came back in from Danny Alves and Messi was able to drill home from an acute angle. Great strike.
Uphill battle now for PSG.
GOAL!!! THERE IT IS AS MESSI SCORES WITH A GREAT FINISH OFF THE CORNER.0-1 BARCA.
Afternoon, MUR - sorry, I didn't see you pop on. How are things with STAAR testing this week?
It sure was . A shame as PSG have been so organized, but Barca showed that they will pounce on any mistake.
I am still celebrating the end of the Warnock era. Did a calypso and a half last night. True MOT style.
STAAR testing is a pain in the Arse. I had one class for three hours and was in another teacher's classroom for five hours. In the interests of symmetry, I have a 50 minute conference period and a 50 minute class.Your thoughts?
Some schnops and champers too? Were you up till the wee hours?
Cor - Messi was nearly in for a second goal there. Just ghosted by a couple and his shot just curled over. Close call. The really would've been goodnight for PSG.
I think my link has been a minute behind yours. I am refreshing
That's sounds grueling mate. You know I don't cotton to that testing nonsense. Wish we could get rid of it.
I think this is one challenge too many for this current PSG side.
Udinese West have taken the lead at Hull in the big one in the Championship this afternoon.
I'm actually surprised that they've been able to get this obvious group of egos collected through Qatari money to gel as quickly as they have done.
Looks like Messi has a problem here and is calling for a sub.
There is a good chance that STAAR will be streamlined as students currently need fifteen tests to graduate. That appears to be decreasing to five starting next year, depending upon the state Senate.Pearson will not be pleased as they will be losing two thirds of their Texas revenue. That's their problem.
Ancelotti is a good manager.
Halftime and 0-1 to Barca in Paris.
Bayern leading Juve 1-0 at the half.
Half time arrives and PSG have a steep climb at 0-1 down. I don't fancy it. They would need to score about three goals without conceding another in order to have a chance in Spain.
Halftime and UW lead 0-1 at Hull City in the marquee Championship match. It is 0-0 and the three other Championship matches.
Teams out for the second half and Fabregas has replaced Messi at the interval. Could change things. PSG get us underway.
The second half is underway. Cesc is on for someone.
The second half is underway. Cesc is on for someone.
WOW! A huge loss for Barca
Talking about huge losses! a nasty pop us called Give Ugly Girls a chance as some lady the size of Kevin James was in lingerie.
Lucas easily turned Cesc. Would he have done the same to Messi
To be honest, It seems as if the pace of the game is too much for Beckham/
Nice block by Thiago Motta from Cesc as BaRC WIN A COrNER.
Poor clearance and Biscuits shoots straight to the keeper.
That seemed like obstruction by Masch and a good case for a PSG penalty, but Wolfgang Stark waIVED PLAY ON.
I really hate those pop ups. There's one for a website called "The Ex Girlfriends" with bad music that always pops when I'm watching in the office.
Not a lot of goals about the Championship today - only that one for Watford. Into the second halves.
I agree Bob. Some of these pop ups are a disgrace. Not much action in the Championship./
Barca with two consecutive corners.
Both corners have been dealt with rather easily and some great tackling by Thaigo Silva in this match
Jordi Alba has been booked by Wolfgang Stark/
Oh - Danny Alves found Alexis Sanchez open in the box but he dithered and Alex was able to recover.
A PSG counter as a one two was played with Zlatan, but a waste as the player that started the counter crossed right to Victor Valdes.
I don't really see the sense of urgency coming from PSG at this point. They're walking through this second half.
Another Barca corner easily cleared.
They seemed resigned to their fate
Matuidi goes into the book for a foul on Iniesta.
Now Menez is on for Lavezzi, who doesn't look exactly thrilled about coming off. Why replace your most dangerous player when you need a goal
I have my last class about to start. It was great chatting . I look forward to chatting with you soon. Cheers mate.
Before I leave, Bayern lead Juve 2-0. Cheers mate.
Oh - Danny Alves is inches wide with a free kick attempt. Barca could easily be 2 or 3 up at this point. They're in total control of this tie.
Cheerio, mate!
Oh - that Xavi free kick was deflected onto the roof of the net. Could easily have sailed in.
GOAL! Zlatan pokes home the equalizer!
Barca as always have tremendous trouble defending set pieces and Thiago Silva rattled the frame of the goal with a towering header. Zlatan cleaned up the rebound, albeit seemingly in an offside situation.
1-1!
Bolton have taken the lead against Huddersfield. Could be a crucial win that would lift them into 8th.
Peterboro look as if they're set to claim a valuable point away to Boro, which would bring them a point from safety.
Penalty to Barca! The keeper brought down Sanchez as he was going wide around him.
The skipper Xavi coolly slots home. 1-2 Barca!
Thiago Silva trying to gee up his teammates again but it looks as if Barca along with Bayern, who are currently 2-0 up will have the advantage coming out of these first legs.
GOAL! Oh dear - what a howler by Valdez!
Desmond!
That shows the frailties of what is considered the best side in the world. Barca are exceptional going forward but they have a clown in goal and several clunkers in defense.
A routine save for Valdez and he bollixed it.
Final whistle.
