Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Nice link for Sky Sports coverage through First Row here:

Good afternoon, Bob. I will be in and out, but should be around for the U.S. vs Belgium this evening.
Team news out of Wemberley today:
England - Hart, Johnson, Cahill, Jags, Cashley, Theo, Lamps, Carrick, The Ox, Roon, Sturridge.
Subs: Foster, McCarthy, Baines, Lescott, Jones, LUFC Academy, Rodwell.
Ireland - Forde, Coleman, O'Shea, St. Ledger, Kelley, Walters, McCarthy, Whelan, McGeady, Long, Keane.
Subs: Westwood, Randolph, McClean, Keogh, O'Dea, McShane, Quinn.
Lovely - welcome, MUR. It'll be good to have you about for part of this afternoon.
Cheers Bob. I just saw that Germany went two up after four minutes in Ecuador. They will be a formidable opponent at RFK on Sunday
They certainly will be. I saw the US get tonked 1-4 by Brazil last summer around this time. I wouldn't be surprised by a similar result on Sunday.
STRUTH! Germany three up after 16 minutes.Poldi with a brace and Lars Bender with the other goal
They're underway from Wemberley at 8 PM Sharp GDT!
Ireland get us underway. Fantastic occasion as always between the two sides. Lots of empty seats at Wemberley.
Theo gets an early chance to run at St. Ledger.
First foul of the match as McLean fouls The Ox
The Ox draws an early free kick there. Possibly a chance to loft one into the area. No - played short.
Kelley gives away a first corner to England. Good, bright start - time to bring the big boys up.
Theo will be licking his chops at that matchup.Fist corner of the match to England and Ireland are now on the attack
Robbie Keane has an early half-chance. Snatched at it.
Will you be around for the U.S. vs Belgium this evening?
Lamps went with a long through ball for Roon and he tried to chip Forde. Cheeky.
I should be - what time is it on?
Germany four up in Ecuador midway through the first half. Lars Bender and Poldi both have braces
I think it's on at 8 PM EDT and I believe it's on ESPN2.
Roon and Lamps trying to bludgeon their way through Ireland's defenses.
Cheers, mate. Definitely in for that one.
It's been all route one from the Irish.
Great. Glad you will be around for that
Poor quality on the video, but it looked a great long ball to Wellie and he passed for Lamps who took too long to shoot.
Kind of a scrappy start to this match
After a furious pace in the opening few minutes, this one has settled into a pattern.
GOAL! Great headed strike from Shane Long!
Seamus Coleman fired over a great curling cross and Long timed his looping header over Hart perfectly.
GOAL !!!! SHANE LONG HEADS THE IRISH INTO THE LEAD.GREAT CROSS FROM THE RIGHT BUT IT WAS A FREE HEADER.WAS IT FROM SEAMUS COLEMAN
Now green smoke bombs go off on the pitch as Lamps gets ready to take a free kick
Into the wall by Lamps and the Irish actually win a throw.
I am home just as Ireland score
Bloody hell!!
Sturridge wins a corner.David Forde catches the corner from Lamps.
Meanwhile Bender has scored a brace to put Germany 0-4 up in 24 minutes. Cor!
Good afternoon,UWS. Perfect timing or was it?
I saw Germany are four up
Not sure what the England defenders could have done about that one - just a really good old fashioned headed goal.
Welcome, UWS - hopefully you'll bring England some luck. How has your week been?
Poldi also has a brace for Germany
England suck!!
That's what you say about United too - I would take their winning record for England. Woy would too!
The Ox does his Johnny Wilkinson impersonation
Do England internationals have the same feel as before to you guys?
They don't to me
Ecuador have a goal back on ESPN 2
Not at all - I used to love the Home Internationals especially. I know this isn't strictly one of those, but it used to feel like one.
UWS's favorite player, Antonio Valencia, scores for Ecuador but they trail Germany 1-4 at the half.
GOAL... LAMPS!
GOAL! Lamps levels it for Engerlund!
I have the same feeling about England.
Sturridge did ever so well to feed Lamps who rode his luck into the area and bundled it home past Forde.
1-1!
That's 29 goals for Frankie - only one behind Shearer. Amazing goalscoring record both for club and country.
I missed it because my link buggered and can't seem to get video
And now a corner chance for Ireland. And another.
I'm quite liking these new Nike kits with the simple crew neck collar.
What kind of cross was that from The Ox!?
Not the prettiest goal, really. Just effective.
Valencia type
I don't think I can get video. I have a class about to start, but will try in the second half. I will be around for the U.S vs Belgium this evening. CHEERS!
Pleased to see Carrick in the midfield
Now the video is back, but I missed the England goal. BUGGER!
Cheerio, mate!
Useless by Johnson
TTFN
Useless cross from Glen Johnson
I remember that John Barnes goal well from 1984.
Class is starting so I will be around later.CHEERS!
Half time between Ecuador and Germany - 1-4. Germans are strolling it.
Oh - and speaking of Valencia, he scored the Ecuador goal.
Glenn Whelan hovering over this free kick. Rubbish.
I'm never quite sure why England make such hard work of Ireland. They really aren't very good.
You mean
John "score one goal against Brazil and in the team all the time" Barnes
That's the one, mate.
St. Ledger gives up a corner. Big boys come up - come on!
Looks like Sturridge is going to have to come off - Ballhog to replace him.
What happened to Sturridge?
He got clobbered by Seamus Coleman.
Here comes Ballhog
Ballhog Defoe on for Sturridge.
Oh - great run from Theo but Coleman did well to scramble his cross off the line.
Just looking at the schedule
When England are farting around in Brazil, next weekend Montenegro host Ukraine and Moldova host Poland
What score do we want for the first match?
Maybe a draw in that first match, eh? The second one is moot.
2036:
England 1-1 Republic of Ireland
Michael Carrick is pulling the strings in the England midfield like a master puppeteer. Everything that England do goes through him.
I agree - Carrick has been integral to everything good England has been doing.
Free kick chance now. Oh - Cahill at the back post tried to nod it back into the middle.
O'Shea got away with a foul on the Ballhog right outside the area.
No it isn't
Ukraine are equal with Poland. Four points behind with this game in hand
It could be
Monty 7 17
England 6 12
Poland 6 11
Ukraine 6 8
OR
Monty 14
England 12
Ukraine 11
Polan 11
Crucial tackle by Cahill on McGeady there. All ball.
Hmmm...looks like a Ukraine win is the best scenario. And Moldova as well, but that's a vain hope isn't it.
That was the Beeb not me about Carrick
That looked like a foul by Roon on Keane
Half time and all square
If we win all of the game left, we will overtake Monty but we still have to go to Ukraine
England final four games
Moldova home 9/6
Ukraine away 9/10
Montenegro home 10/11
Poland home 10/15
three home games and away at Ukraine
The friendlies before the WC Qaulifiers
Brazil 6/2 and host host SCOTLAND 8/14
Looks like Foster is replacing Hart
Phil Jones coming on to replace Johnson as well
Jones replacing Johnson who was perhaps culpable on the first goal.
Away we go
Do England have a favorite end?
I don't think so
Roon would break a post-war record if he scored in this second half. Six goals and six games for his country.
Still 1-1 at Wemberley early in the second half
I don't think so either. Perhaps they should name one end to create a bit of buzz for the players.
Welcome back, MUR - just starting up here in the second half.
Oh - Cashley nearly in on a Theo Walcott volley.
Welcome back MUR
Thanks BD and UWS.
Useless England break. Rather predictable.
This one's gone well off the boil.
Oh - Lamp set up for a textbook drive - miscued for once.
Nice run by the Ox and dragged wide by Lamps.
Cashley troops off and hands the armband to Lamps. Leighton Beans coming on.
Off comes the Centurion replaced by a future OT man?
Cashley off and receives a standing ovation as he is replaced by Leighton Baines.
Germans seem to be settling for 1-4. Fifteen minutes left there.
Theo earns a free kick just outside the box.
Hopefully a future OT man. Definitely better than Evra.
Baines can strike this one with his left peg - would be a great introduction to this match.
Kelly concedes a free kick to England.
Into the wall....oh, dear.
Baines hits a couple of noggins in the wall
Into the wall by Baines.
Good pressure now by England but Baines shanks one well over the mark. Rusty?
Perhaps a little.Hope he does better
Corner cleared out well by England's defenders.
Coleman did well to go past Ox then it was blocked by Jags for a corner that was cleared.
Oh - Theo draws a good save out of Forde at the near post.
Ireland try to break through Long and McGeady. Shoots wide.
Galaxy man Keane's evening is over. Simon Cox to come on.
Come on, England - we want a goal!
Decent curling effort by the Ox.
Good catch from Forde from that cross.
Sorry I have been a miss for a bit
A lot of running around.... ENGLAND SUCK!
Why can't they go out there and play attacking football that is pleasing to the eye
Germans really took the foot off the gas in that second half - 2-4 in the end.
Not that good, eh Dave? I agree.
Ben Foster nearly gifted the Oirish a second and winning goal.
80,000+ at Wemberlee tonight
The Ox should have scored there!
Well saved by the Lion keeper
Oh - The Ox had a chance to win it there. Roon found him well. He hit it first time but straight at Forde.
Decent sized crowd for this kind of affair. I was worried because I saw loads of empty red seats on the side.
Another Gooner gets a shot saved by the Lion!
Oh - Forde saves another certain goal - this time from Theo.
The Ox troops off - LUFC Academy on.
England can't cross!
Bring on Coppell
2 added minutes on this one
Very disappointing in my book
I know everyone will say that it was a satisfying display... I don't agree
Well - that's that. More than a bit disappointing. We'll see what happens against the Boys of Brazil at the weekend. Off for a swim. Ta ta, lads!
That's it
Bloody useless!
Good talking to you
I am off
