Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Well over by Soldado . A minute of stoppage time.
Halftime and 0-0
Spurs dominated the first half at Goodison Park and will be frustrated that they have nothing to show for their efforts.
Spurs move up to fourth ahead of Citeh just by kicking off while Evrton remain in seventh place. It is so tight that the winner of this match moves up to second place.
The second half is underway from Goodison Park.

Pienaar has a shot blocked by Dawson , who is still holding his stomach. Great run and pass by Mirallis/.
Distin is down as his ankle was clipped.
He seems to be okay as Dembele has come on as a sub for Sandro. That's four Belgians on the pitch. It would be five if Nasir Chadli was playing.
Timmy gets away with his second poor clearance of the match and it actually leads to an Everton free kick in midfield.
Arsenal will maintain their five point lead if this match finishes a draw, which will delight Gooners
Everton counter with their changes Deulofeu is on for Mirallis and Ross Barkley is on for Osman.
Ross Barkley shoots over from about 25 yards.
Nice run by Delefeu and Coleman seemed to go down easily in the box, looking for a penalty. Kevin Friend was not interested.
that would have been harsh if Vertonghen would have been penalized.
Paulinho booked for a high challenge.
Siggy on for Lennon which reduces the LUFC Academy factor by one.
Dawson heads away a cross and McCarthy volleys wide
Deuliefeu to take a corner. The Spanish Under 21 international takes it short and it comes to nothing.
Nearly the lead for the Toffees as jags put McCArthy down the right and the Chunk just failed to connect in the six yard box.
Great curling effort Siggy is superbly pushed away by Timmy. Everton break and the Chunk concedes possession.
Lloris is down injured as he beat the Chunk to a long ball, but his momentum caused him to run into Lloris's head. Definitely a painful one and definitely unintentional.
Not sure why Toffees fans are calling the ref a wanker. The replay showed Lloris's head bobble on that challenge. Thankfully he walks off , but definitely woozy. Big Brad will come on in his place. Now Lloris doesn't want to come off , but his teammates finally urge him off and prevail.
Actually, Lloris prevails. He's a brave one. There should be a lengthy amount of stoppage time/
STeffan Freund consoles Brad. David Pleat a numpty as he refers to the EL as the Intertoto Cup or whatever it is. That competition went out the window a while ago.
while Sparky was being let out back, the Chunk was booked.
LLoris rushes out of his box to clear an Everton attack.
Jelavic is on for the Chunk and Bob's GBB did not take a chunk out of the GBB race today.

Great solo run by Jelavic and Lloris does well to come out and block his effort.
Pienaar has a pass deflected for a corner.
The corner from Baines is cleared.
Nine minutes of stoppage time.
Morning, MUR. I'm unhappy to hear that The Chunk hasn't scored a hat-trick yet. Come on!
Distin fouls Soldao near the corner flag as he resorts to La Liga antics.
Good morning Bob. He was subbed and has an ice pack on his knee.
Are you still in Nashville? Late night out on the town?
Siggy drags an effort wide
This match seems destined to finish 0-0, a result that will disappoint both teams as the winner would be in second place.
It finishes 0-0 as Spurs move up to fourth and Everton remain in seventh place. Next, the first ever top flight Leek Derby.
Yeah, mate. Late night out last night. Also very confused by all the time changing. I'll be glad to get back to Fred-town and normality tonight.
Will you be around for the Leek Derby or will you be flying back by then? We're back to the normal time difference from the UK and Europe.
Elizabeth wants to know if you went to Coyote Wild Or BB King's Blues Bar.
Looks like I didn't miss much this morning from Goodison.
Know - I went to the Bluebird Cafe last night for a show. That's the one often featured in the ABC tv show "Nashville."
So, does that mean the match starts in fifteen minutes?
Back for the first ever top flight Leek Derby. A heavy police presence required. And they're off rom Cardiff.
IT has started . Hope I can enjoy the pleasure of your company.
Will do - I've been turfed out of my room with the telly now. I'm down in the hotel lounge stealing their wifi for the time being.
Swansea 's plan is to keep lots of possession and take the Cardiff fans out of the match.
Any leaning in this Leek Derby?
First hefty challenge of the match by Shelvey on Gary Medel.
Well done, mate. I've got a soft spot for the Swans due a great experience on the exchange trip to Swansea.
Well done, mate. I've got a soft spot for the Swans due a great experience on the exchange trip to Swansea.
Team news today:
Cardiff - Marshall, Theo, Caulker, Turner, Taylor, Model, Cowie, Mutch, Whittingham, Bellamy, Odemwinge. Subs - Hudson, Campbell, Kim, Noone, Gunnarsson, Maynard, Lewis.
Swansea - Vorm, Rnagel, Chico, Williams, Taylor, Shelvey, Britton, Dyer, De Guzman, Routledge, Michu. Subs - Arnat, Bony, Tiendalli, Canas, Pozuelo, Tremmel, Vazquez.
That makes perfect sense. I've got no love for Cardiff for sure, given their Ridsdale connection.
We had a much quieter evening. Had a front come through yesterday morning and have been enjoying similar weather to what I experienced on my visit to Fred Town. Went on the walking trial then the girls and I went out for ice cream and ate outdoors at a table on a pleasant evening.
The Tan ownership is more successful, but has evil business implications with the Asian Cortland theme.
I meant trail, not trial.
Michu spurns the first big chance of the match, blazing over the bar.
Gary Medel concedes possession and a short pass by Shelvey found Michu , whose powerful effort was pushed away by David Marshall.
Medel heads away Swansea's first corner of the match. then the Red dragons get the ball and cheaply concede possession.
Marshall finally catches a cross from Rangel after the Cardiff defense failed to clear several attempts.
Cardiff Red/Blues seem to be struggling to impose themselves on the match even though their at home. The crowd seems really quiet.
Swansea seem more like the home team in this match and Bellamy seems to be begging to talk himself into the book.
Long Cardiff free kick from whittingham headed on by Caulker , but nobody able to properly divert it.
RAngel heads out a cross by Don Cowie for Cardiff's first corner.
I'm still surprised that Stephen Caulker washed up at Cardiff. He seems a quality center back. I'd love him at Leeds but I'd hate to see him drop down the divisions. Surely he's one for England in the future?
A foul called on Cardiff's first corner. A shame as that was a decent delivery from Whittingham
He could be .It depends upon the depth at that position.
shelve lectured by Mike Dean for persistent fouling. This must be his last warning before being booked.
Taken by Bellamy and not far over.It 's actually been awarded as a corner.
Shelvey should start on a yellow card, IMHO.
Agreed, Bob. Have you been disappointed with this match?
Elizabeth and I would be better off having a picnic out front on a beautiful day than what NBC has served us today.
I have been - it's been rubbish.
You should and all.
I just noticed that the first match next Sunday kicks off at 7 AM EST. will you be around for that bloody early kickoff?
TA, Bob. Something to consider. One minute of stoppage time which is far too much, IMHO.
Even Mike dean has had enough as he blows the halftime whistle fifteen seconds early. Not a single Prem goal in a match and a half of play. Really horrid.
Maybe so. Depends on how things go with Kate next weekend. I'll be honest. I hope I won't be around for an early kickoff, if you get my drift. Btw, don't post anything on FB about that - we're not public up in Fred-town quite yet. It's a bit delicate.
We're off for the second half - should be around until the end, then I'm off to explore the city a bit.
Not a classic, but is anyone else amused by the sight of Medel for Cardiff? Is he or is he not the fattest little man you've seen in the top division since that butterball winger for Forest in the 70's? Hilarious.
Afternoon, Gooner. You're right about Medel. But is he fatter than Tom Huddlestone? Or Jan Molby? I dunno.
Back from taking Sparky walkies. Did I miss anything?
Good afternoon, Gooner. I think Molby wins that contest, but Medel is in the running for a medal.
Agreed, Bob. Mum's the word, if you catch me drift.
No, but Molby and Huddlestone and that pit-bull for West Ham in the 90's were giants carrying that load. This guy looks like a the fat half of Little Britain in a wig.
Which one played for the Hammers? Molby played for Liverpool in the 90s and played his part being part of their last title winning team in 1990. Also had a spell as Swansea manager. Molby wins if we go by the BMI measure, but agreed that he was definitely more talented than Medel.
GOAL !!! ABOUT BLOODY TIME AS CAULKER HEADS IN A CORNER FROM BELLAMY. THE FIRST PREM GOAL OF THE DAY
what the hell was Shelvey doing? If he was on the far post then he would have headed that header away.
Wilfried Boni on for Michu. A striker for a striker. Why not play with two as the Swans need a goal?
Julian Dicks? That's the big unit I'm thinking of.
Shelvey, he's way overrated. Even a bluffer like Rogers could see it.
This goal id doubly sweet for Cardiff as they move up to 12th, one place above Swansea.
See that's why I want Caulker at a bigger club and sniffing around the England. He's got that John Terry knack of both solid defending and also popping up with important headed goals from set pieces.
Either Michu is injured, or more likely, it's not his day and he's not willing to work if he doesn't feel it.
I agree 100% with Shelvey. My bruv , a Liverpool fan was glad to see the back of him. Julian Dicks was not a porker till later in his career. He had a spell at Anfield . How about his teammate, Neil Ruddock , who moved with him from Anfield to Upton Park?
There's a first: The use of John Terry's name and the phrase "solid defending."
Still trying to remember that bloke's name for Forest in the 70s. John something or other maybe?
That was a time before all of this fitness training when particularly luxury players and wingers could get away with being patently unfit. Think of Eddie Gray or Tony Currie at their heaviest.
Could be , Gooner. I was thinking that Brian Laudrup would want two strikers being a goal down.
I know you're not a fan but JT's been the heart of a Chelski defense that's consistently stingy with the goals. It can't just be the bloke who's standing next to him.
John Robertson. Not as heavy as Molby, Dicks, Or Ruddock
Alejandro Basuelo, an tacking middie, on for Leon Briton, a holding middie.
THE announcer said this was Swansea's first goal conceded from a set piece this season. The worst time to concede it and they have that plonker, Shelvey to thank for that
Great save by Marshall from Boni, who was flagged offside.
A wasted free kick from De Guzman as the offside flag is raised.
Frazier Campbell on for Peter Odemwingie as that adds one to the MUFC Academy factor.
A rainy evening in the Welsh capital.
Spot on, MUR - John Robertson - that's the heavy lad for Forest.
This Leek Derby is distinctly lacking in atmosphere or drama. I expected the ground to be rocking today. I think the Welsh are starting to take this malarkey for granted. Bring back the Yorkshire Derby to the Prem and you'll see some fireworks!
Well wide by Routledge, typical of Swansea's evening . Now he is replaced by Vasquez, on loan from Getafe.
Campbell with an effort blocked then straight to Worm
agreed Bob, but part of that is due to extreme security precautions due to incidents in previous Leek Derbies.
How many Spaniards are on the pitch for Swansea.? Seems like quite a few
So they're not letting the Leek Eaters into the ground, is that the problem?
Malky Mackay using an interpreter to give directions to Kim.
Probably so. You solved the mystery.
John Robertson. And Ruddock also was a tall man. This bloke is 5.7 or under and must go no less than 185 pounds. Robertson too was 5.7 or so and 185-190 pounds. Most of the small men you see out there are 145-150 pounds if they're in shape.
Chelsea are stingier when Terry sit on the bench and have been since at least 5 years. Every domestic honor he's won should have Ivanovic's face on it.
Peter Whitingham booked for a nasty foul on Chico Flores. Bellamy needs to keep out of it.
KIm on for the injured Medel. The Red Dragons carrying less of a load?
Marshall pushes away a free kick from De Guzman
THE corner from De Guzman headed away by Whittingham
JUST NOW!!! When that little guy was laid out and he's waiting sitting up for treatment, there's a visible roll of fat over his shorts. d
Cardiff is not a candidate for a Puma sponsored kit with him about.
I was mentioning that to someone at the reception last night because we'd both had occasions to teach student athletes on big time football teams and had remembered how enormous they were.
When I had my picture taken with Freddie Ljungberg, I had the opposite reaction. He was so slight, it was remarkable. If you look at the photo again, I look absolutely enormous next to him, obviously taller (he's probably 5'7" or so, so I've got half a foot and more on him) but also he can't go more than 140 lbs.
Agreed about Robertson, but that was Ruddock during his early days at Upton Park. By the end of his career his BMI was comparable to that of Robertson. His weight must have ballooned to a good 225 lbs by then
Not clever by worm as he rushes out of his box and is sent off for a lunge on Campbell. NOW Angel Rangel goes in the Swansea goal. That should all but do it for the Swans on a miserable evening.,
ANgel RAngel tips over the free kick by WHIttingham/.
Cardiff running down the clock as they are a minute away from winning the first ever top flight Leek Derby,
Vorm had to go there, no doubt. It'll be amusing to see Angel Wangel Rangel go in goal now. That's always one of my favorite comic elements of the game.
Will the Swans now lose Vorm for their upcoming Europa match? Who's their second string keeper?
That's it and a famous victory for Cardiff as they defeat Swansea 1-0. The only Prem goal in two matches.
Gerhard Tremmel is their backup keeper. worm is suspended for the next Prem match, not the EL match
Swansea hosts Stoke next Sunday and Tremmel is good enough to start for most Prem teams, so it should not be a huge loss forth e Swans.
This won't change much for either side, who seem good enough to survive this season in mid-table obscurity but won't challenge for much else.
Sunderland and Palace already look dead and buried, which leaves one more relegation slot for Norwich, Stoke, Fulham and perhaps the Hammers or Villa to battle over.
That's it for this one - a bit of a dull day in the Prem, honestly. I'm off to explore a bit more of Nashville now. Have a good afternoon, chaps.
Cheers . Have a safe trip home.
