Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Footie Trivia of the Week

Okay, chaps, time to put your thinking caps on again. This one is a real corker of a trivia question for you. Here we go:

* There are 16 permanent managers now managing in the Premiership or Football League (i.e., Championship, League 1 and League 2) who made at least one appearance in the 1993/1994 Premiership season. How many can you name? (Bonus points if you can name either the clubs they played for in the 90s or the clubs they manage today).

Good luck!

Spot on, UWS - all five of yours are correct. Well in!

Nice additions, MUR. Rosler, Pearson and Clark are all correct.

OGS wasn't on the Five Live list but I honestly don't know why. Is there some reason why he wouldn't have been playing for United that season?

In any case, you lot still have 8 to name.

Ian Holloway QPR/ Millwall

I just realized that OGS did not join United until 1996.

Ince doesn't count… he's been fired

I said Ian Holloway, not Ince. I think Ian counts.

Holloway is correct - that's nine that you two have got. Seven to get.

I wasn't saying that you said Ince
I was saying that he would have counted if he hadn't been fired this season

You're a roll today, mate. Spot on with Robbins (who manages Huddersfield Town today), Worthington (who manages York City), and Sheridan (who manages Plymouth).

Grayson is not on the list, though. He's the current manager at Preston. Are you sure that he was at Leicester that season?

Well done UWS. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

So, just to sum up, you've so far got eleven of them.

1. Steve Bruce
2. Lee Clark
3. Nigel Clough
4. Darren Ferguson
5. Ian Holloway
6. Mark Hughes
7. Nigel Pearson
8. Uwe Rosler
9. John Sheridan
10. Tim Sherwood
11. Nigel Worthington

Can you get any of the other five?

9:45 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Just googled Grayson
It says he was on Leicester C from 92-97… maybe City weren't in the Prem that season
Just looked that up
They got promoted in the 93-94 season.. so he's out

Close but not quite there, I suppose. Good guess though. How about the other five?

I was thinking of Steven Pressley, but thought he was at Hearts until the end of his playing career.

Spot on with Neal Ardley - he's your 12th one - still four to go.

Pressley and Tisdale weren't on the list.

Paul Dickov Arsenal/ Donny

He made one Prem appearance as a sub for the Gunners that season so he counts.

Gary Rowett Everton/ Burton Albion

12:09 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Well in, MUR - Paul Dickov is correct for #12. Gary Rowett isn't on the list. Four more to get.

Both of those are spot on, MUR - well done!

The only one that you missed on the list was Mark Robins (Norwich/Hudders)

Thanks for playing.

No - I see that UWS got Robins, so I think we got them all. Brilliant job, lads!
