We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!
A Bloody Early Sunday Triple Header
Yeah I am up bloody early with the roosters to watch the run in that affects all ends of the table. We start with the Canaries vs Pool followed by the cup final matchup as Hull City hosts the Gunners and we conclude with Moyes and Roon returning to Goodison as the Toffees host United.

They're about thirty seconds in at CR
Pool can have the first title in 24 years all but wrapped up with a win at the struggling Canaries , who are all but relegated. Suarez averages about a hat-trick a match vs the Canaries.
There is already a stoppage in play as one of the Olsson twins was down holding his knee. Play resumes.
GOAL !!!! STERLING SCORES A CRACKLER IN THE UPPER 90.
He went past Snoddy and shot straight as an arrow past the on rushing Chris Turner. Ruddy stood no chance.
Pool fans singing "We're going to win the league."
Morning, MUR! I'm just getting to the telly in time to watch Raheem Sterling blast home Liverpool's opener. Crikey!
And now Sterling has gone down in the area. No penalty but you've seen them given.
I love the image that you've posted, mate. Are Sparky and Fred up with you and the roosters?
It sounds as if the match is at Anfield. Pool fans chantimg and the Canaries mute as if they were eaten by Fred.
Oh - Joe Allen found his way into the box and Hooper just about clawed away his first time volley. Liverpool in full flow here.
Good morning Bob. we are. Sparky went out back and was barking. Fred ate brekkies/
GOAL! Suarez scores number two. They are slicing Norwich open at every opportunity.
GOAL !!!! SUAREZ PUTS POOL TWO UP. HEALWAYS SCORES VS THE CANRIES
Sterling went unchallenged down the left and Suarez easily finished past Ruddy.
Suarez is now on 30 goals for the season. Sterling played a super ball into him and all he had to do is side foot past Hooper. Terrific goal.
I am drinking the Eight O'clock Italian Expresso coffee that Elizabeth bought yesterday. It's strong and tasty.
Norwich don't know what's hit them but I don't know why. Liverpool and Suarez love scoring against the Canaries. Suarez already has two hat-tricks against them.
Morning, mate - thanks for posting the thread so early.
Sounds like I need a cuppa of that espresso. I had a late night out with Kate but I couldn't miss this display.
This could end up as a cricket score.
Hard to remember a Premiership side playing this well.
Wishing you and Kate a Happy Easter
Norwich at least have won a corner and a short respite from Pool's relentless attacking.
Cheers, mate.
Pool are worthy title winners. They have been the best team over the course of the season . This will be their tenth win on the trot. They are doing it the way United did and the way they did in the 80s, going on a winning run at the end of the season.
Last weekend I had an ale from Greene King called Speckled Hen. I recommend it if you haven't tried it.
A spell of pressure from the Canaries . Credit to them for not throwing in the towel.
Johnson fouls Redmond.
The free kick is cleared.
Naughty by Chris Turner on Coutinho.
Wakey Wakey Bob. It's still dark outside.
Snoddy will surely go in to the book for that one. He's been begging for one.
Naughty by snoddy on Joe Allen on a Pool break and he becomes the first player booked. He must have learend that behavior at ER!
I'll look for the Speckled Hen. It sounds familiar.
It's all gotten rather chippy out there now. Lots of fouls flying in on both sides.
I am sure your Whites will be playing the LUFC South Canaries in the Championship next season.
Silly play at the back there from Pool. They always look as if they'll leak a goal or two. But then score six at the other end.
That's too be expected as the Canaries are fighting relegation and Pool near the finish line in the title race.
Poor Canaries free kick straight to Mingolet
Sterling has bought a free kick out wide left.
Whittaker fouls Sterling and nearly talks himself into the book. Lectured by Andre Marriner.
Morning boys
I was watching the first part of the game upstairs
Liverpool are so fast!
They remind me of the United I miss
Brad Johnson heads out a free kick from Stevie G for a corner.
Ruddy easily catches the corner.
Good morning UWS . Pool definitely worthy title winners this season.
Liverpool score early and often in every game they play!
Hate to say it but you are correct
Morning, UWS - MUR was making the same point about the pace of Pool's attack. Reminds us all of that marauding United style of old.
Any chance of Pool winning 3-5 and one of the Canaries strikers with his back to goal, Flicks up the ball in the air and thrashes the ball in the upper 90?
Sterling is fast and dangerous. Could he be a big star for England this summer
Even if Pool win their 19th this season, you've still got #20 in the bag, right?
Also the Pool that we saw during our LHS years
Sure . Number 20 is on it's way.
I hope so. Wish we could bottle this Pool side and run them out as England in the summer. This team would rip most sides apart.
Sterling has definitely booked his ticket to Brazil.
Agreed. They would be a threat to most sides in Brazil.
Sturridge will be fit in time for Brazil, right?
The only way United could do anything in Brazil would be to blame it on Rio. Michael Caine will sub for Moyes.
I hope so. surely, he and Roon will start up front. Otherwise Connor Wickham will be forced to deputize!
Joe Allen wins a corner.
Saco heads wide from the corner.
Don't get me started on Connor bloody Wickham.
Or Ross bloody Barkley.
To be honest, it's been a decent performance by the Canaries since the second goal.
Wickham only played five times for Leeds and the Whites were on a poor run of form, so he may have been starved for service.
Oh - Coutinho tried a bender but didn't quite get it right this time.
Did you hear about that avalanche on Mt. Everest?
That studio bloke on NBCSN, the yank footie player, is on that expedition that has killed 13 guides
The name of the expedition is NBC Everest Expedition.
Did they say anything about it today before the match?
Ross Barkley should be on the plane to Brazil. I blame Evil Neil for poor management, not the player. Look how Roberto has handled him.
True - it's just that every season we get a bunch of fancypants loanees in around January and it always corresponds with a dip in form. I think it might unsettle the dressing room to have these Premiership types about.
Chris Turner booked for a foul on sterling.
Two minutes of stoppage time.
I had not heard about the expedition . I promised myself to stay as far away as possible from that type of danger.
Add Michael Ricketts to the list. No goals in 25 appearances.
Pool two up at the half thanks to those two early goals and they can smell that Prem title.
Half time
Liverpool well on their way
They always start VERY fast but seem to fade
Can they keep it up in the second half
Time for brekkies.
Half time comes. Liverpool got off to a blistering start but then somewhat took the foot off the gas. They're simply too good for Norwich, though.
0-2.
Brekkies has been dispatched and now the first signs of daylight.
The second half is underway from CR.
Second half starting up at Carrow Road. Would you recognize this ground as one you visited as a kid? I wouldn't.
I would not . It's been modernized. I only recognize it when I see an aerial view and the cathedral in the background.
Oh - another cracking drive from Raheem Sterling.
Just over by Sterling on the break.
The one stand across from the camera hasn't changed much
I was google earthing a while back and I went to Carrow Road.
I found that corner where a moped crashed and vann of coppers jumped on him.
Do you remember that Bob?
That interview by Jose was a disgrace yesterday. Blames the refs, but nothing about his assistant having to be restrained, the error from Schwarzer, the sluggish performance, the error from Azpi, the fact that Jozy and Connor gave his side fits, nor the fact that they were lucky not to be down to nine men. Mike Dean did him a favor but no mention of that. Your thoughts!
GOAL! Norwich are back in it! Hooper!
Goal for the Cannaries!!!
Useless by the keeper
A real howler from Mignolet as a nothing cross came looping over. The bobble allowed Hooper to tap home and give Norwich (and Pool's rivals) some hope.
GOAL !!! GARY HOPPER PULLS ONEBACK FOR THE CANARIES. MIGNOLET DROPPED A CROSS FROM WHITTAKER AND HOOPER EASILY TAPPED IN.
Totally agree with you about Jose!
I HATE HIM
Have some class!
What about the 'penalty' you got against WBA
About Liverpool not playing in Europe… hence playing less games
Text us on 81111
Richard: Bored of hearing this no European football an advantage thing. Tell me the last club who won the league without playing in Europe? Exactly.
Arthur: All the people saying Liverpool are winning because they haven't played European football. Why doesn't that happen every season then?
Tonie: A busy schedule is part of being a successful, it clearly made Liverpool's run-in easier, but you still have to win games!
I don't remember the moped incident, no.
Hooper's first BPL goal since Boxing Day and about bloody time. Has Wickham been any worse than Hooper?
Suarez jinks wide past the defender but then scuffs his shot into Ruddy's hands.
Good points, UWS.
At least Hooper didn't show up as a loanee at Elland Road.
News from Blighty: Desmond has just left the Norwich Cathedral and is walking in the direction of CR
I do think that Pool's relative lack of fixtures has been a factor.
You don't?
How upsetting!
We were walking in a group down the road that goes from the cathedral down to the ground.
I blame the board for not changing that policy.
I don't know why teams take the foot off the gas as Liverpool have since about the 15th minute. In you're in full flow, why not just keep playing like that and rack up a huge score.
ooh, just wide by Suarez
I just remember the donor kebabs.
We have the same schedule next Sunday :
Sunderland vs Cardiff
Pool vs Chelsea
Crystal Pulis vs Citeh
A must watch
Totally agree with you BD
Ozil starts for the Gunners
I guess I want Arsenal, Everton and Spurs to lose the lot
Me too Bob.
Ozil playing for the first time since Bayern away on March 11
Arsenal, Everton and Spuds all to lose, UWS?
That doesn't exactly help the Gunners. I think I do too, UWS
Text us on 81111
Bill in Hereford: Exactly the same as last week, 2-0 up and forgotten how to control the game.
Kevin in Wirral: Liverpool are sitting too deep and are in danger of repeating the same mistake as they did with City.
GOAL
Sterling scores again!
A deflection but he is so fast
GOAL 1-3 POOL AND STERLING HAS A BRACE . NICE SOLO RUN AND HIS DEFLECTED EFFORT WENT OVER RUDDY AND OUT OF HIS REACH.
GOAL! That was brilliant by Sterling!
Okay, the deflection helped but that run reminded me of Michael Owen in 1998 at Argentina. Hope he does that this summer for England.
That was a wicked deflection off of Bradley Johnson
Any comments about next Sunday's matches? I listed them at 8:17.
Skrtel booked for an obvious push on Redmond,
Decent free kick that just eluded everyone.
Howson wins a corner off of Stevie G. Nice run.,
Mignolet turns a shot from Snoddy around the post. A shot from Johnson out for another corner
The next corner is cleared
Another great day in the Premiership next Sunday, for sure. Anyone around to watch Citeh tomorrow?
Bob and Dave napping?
Due to my teaching schedule I will only be around for Leeds vs Forest. will you be around for that one?
Chris Martin heads just over from a Canaries corner.
Howson has been begging for a yellow. If Johnson gets a yellow, is that an LUFC trifecta?
Yeah - I should be, mate. It's what we call a "Travel Day" tomorrow.
It sure is , but it doesn't surprise me as their formative days were at ER!
I am off for a bit
I'll be back from the late one… AS UNITED MAKE A SURGE TO THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!!
Victor Moses coming on for Coutinho.
It's a full schedule in the lower divisions. Two matches will be televised on bEIN. Burnley vs Wigan at10 AM and Leeds vs Forest at 1215. I will definitely be around for the late one
Cheers UWS. Keep up those positive thoughts.
Do you lot want Europa League footer for United or would you rather have a rebuilding year out of Europe as Liverpool have had?
GOAL! Norwich back in it with a cracking finish by Snoddy!
GOAL !!! SNODDY HEADS IN A CROSS FROM REDMOND OFF A PASS FROM HOWSON. WHAT A MATCH
Terrible defending by Liverpool again. Flanagan turned his back on the cross!
Van Crapswinkel on for some reason. He couldn't score in a brothel but no matter.
I would prefer a rebuilding year. The EL is a rather silly competition and the schedule is nearly impossible.
This is completely unnecessary for Liverpool. They were in complete control.
I don't get it either. He hasn't scored since opening day and at least Hopper will chip in with a few. That one stumps me.
Agger coming on with a clean back and sides. I barely recognized him.
Agger on for Joe Allen wrench.
I agree, but credit to the Canaries for making a game of it.,
Yeah - fair enough; they've kept playing, but Pool have allowed them back in.
Van Crapswinkel with a big chance and he nodded it straight at Mignolet. Typical.
The wolf has a header saved by Mignolet off a cross from Redmond. It all stems back to when Saco was too easily tackled by Redmond.
The wolf has a header saved by Mignolet off a cross from Redmond. It all stems back to when Saco was too easily tackled by Redmond.
If Norwich got another back now, it would make tomorrow's match interesting.
Will Norwich make it to 37 points? I'm not sure.
He only had seven shots on target under Hughton. At least he's had a few chances under Neil Adams injusdt over a match
I don't see Norwich making it to 33 points let alone 37. Get ready for the Leeds Derby next season.
Would love it.
If Delia doesn't sell off the team they should come back up at the first attempt.
It's hard to say who will join the Canaries in the drop, but I don't think it will be the Black Cats,.
OLsson fouls Sterling by the corner flag.
Actually the other way around.
Four minutes of stoppage time.
Snoddy should have had a foul there and a chance to have a pop at Mignolet's goal.
That looked a foul by Saco on Snoddy. I don't blame him for fuming.
Oh - how did that one stay out?
OH! What a save by Ruddy from Lucas , who shoots the rebound well wide . Great work by Suarez.
A late free kick for the Canaries.
One last big chance for Norwich - Ruddy is up!
Well, Pool made their fans bite their fingernails nervously at the end there for no real reason but they were just about good enough going forward to grab all three points from a troubled Norwich side who might well be going down. All three sides below them seem to be in better form.
Ruddy up for the free kick that is headed away then the return cross is cleared.
Pool hang on to win a thriller 2-3. That's three more points and that much closer to the title. The Canaries can take a lot out of this performance, but they need points at this stage of the season.
Next up is a dress rehearsal for the cup final as the Tigers host the Gunners.
Long and Jelavic are " cup tied" and ineligible for the final.
COME ON YOU GUNNERS!
A minute of silence. I'm not sure why . I don't think it's for Hillsborough. That was last weekend.
They're off from the KC.
Nacho clears a cross for an early Tigers corner.
Seudio catches the corner from George Boyd in traffic.,
Arteta down off a high boot from Fatty.
a stoppage as the wind blew some advertising boarding on to the pitch
Nice through ball from Ozil, but Nacho was offside.
Shane Long down with blood on his arm as Merte fouled Jelavic.
A little blood spilled by Arteta too.
SUedio does well to turn a shot from Jelavic around the post off a quick free kick. James heads well over from the corner.
Merte was booked for the earlier foul and now David Meyler is booked for a foul on Nacho.
Nap time for Bob and Dave ahead of the late match.
Harper pushes away a shot from Poldi.
SHANE Long blasts over off a nice through ball from Livermore. That was a decent opportunity.
George Boyd down with a nosebleed after being caught in a sandwich between Merte and Kos.
GOAL !!!! RAMSEY GIVES THE GUNNERS THE LEAD WITH A SUPERB FINISH, THEY DID IT PLAYING THEIR STYLE OF FOOTBALL.
It all started with an throw from Sagna .There was about eight one touch passes in the move. Ramsey passed to Ozil down the right, who passed to Caz and his through ball was tucked away by rRamsey.
OH! Aside footed effort by Livermore from 25 yards out comes off the base of the post.
Clumsy foul by el Mohammedy in the back of Giroud inches outside the box. HE would do well to shut it. atrocious free kick from RAmsey easily cleared.
I'm back from a shower late on in the first half. Great to see Ramsey back in firing form. Dad would have enjoyed that one. Gooner is on the road in NYC today.
Arsenal now firmly in fourth, four points ahead of Everton who play United next.
GOAL !!!! POLDI VOLLEYS THE GUNNERS INTO A TWO GOAL LEAD AS WE ENTER STOPPAGE TIME. GREAT COUNTER.
GOAL! That was delightful stuff from the Arsenal. Quick counter from Ozil out to Giroud. Giroud's cross was chested down perfectly into Poldi's path and voom!
0-2!
I am back as the Arse double their lead
So much for my United dream
Hull players still griping about that Arteta challenge on Jelavic. I saw nothing wrong with it.
Jelavic appeared to be fouled by Arteta and it broke to Caz who passed to Ramsey , who passed to Giroud. His cross was chested down by Ramsey and volleyed home by Poldi. Tigers players and fans feel hard done by,.
Halftime as the Gunners have a two goal lead and a firm lock on fourth place.
Mike Dean is being escorted off by the stewards as boos ring out at the half time whistle. Arsenal in the driver's seat.
