Derby Day in the Premiership!
Whoever scheduled this day of Premiership fixtures must be having a birthday. It starts and ends with a bang. We've got the Merseyside Derby early doors and then end the day with the North London Derby. Strangely, it's 11th v. 14th in this year's topsy turvy Premiership. Still - it's the Merseyside, innit? You know you're going to watch it - join me here for some LOB banter.

Good morning , Bob. I will be around for part of the morning. I am delighted to have the pleasure of your company for these massive matches.
Morning, mate - it should be a cracking day. Glad to have you around.
The teams lining up in the tunnel now:
Liverpool - Mignolet, Lovren, Gerrard, Henderson, Moreno, Manquillo, Lallana, Sterling, Skrtel, Balotelli, Markovic.
Everton - Howard, HIbbert, Baines, Jags, Stones, Barry, McCarthy, Besic, Mirallas, Naismith, The Chunk.
It's odd to have a Bacardi commercial on at 6:40 in the morning. Gooner hates that commercial.
Steven Gerrard has had a rubbish start to his season but does Brendan Rogers have the bottle to drop his most famous skipper?
Everton in deep trouble with Hibbert their best option at right back. That said, if Hibbert scores, we riot!
I'd rather walk alone.
Good morning!
Morning boys!
How are all of you?
Busy as ever here.I will be here for the two early matches but will be at Matt's game for the London derby.
Of course, I'll be switching back and forth to the Ryder Cup as well
Martin Atkinson will be officiating.
Good morning Someone and UWS. Great to have you lads on board.
I will be leaving at halftime of the Man Yoo match.
Doing marvelous, UWS - great to have you around this morning.
And good morning, Someone. Best of luck to your Toffees this morning.
The Toffee fans trying to drown out YNWA... it aint working
I was actually going to comment that with three England internationals in their side (Jagielka, Stones and Baines) Everton's backline would seem to be one of the most solid around. However, the record doesn't suggest that. What's going on there?
It wasn't just Hibbert, who is playing for the first time in ages. Mohammed Besic is there to add steel to the midfield in the hopes that the team stop leaking goals.
The Reds get us underway, then.
They're off from Anfield. Best of luck Someone.
Jagielka is very out of form and Distin has aged overnight. Not much depth back there and the goals allowed has showed.
I do like the signing of YNWA but I don't think they used to have Gerry and Pacemakers blaring out as well
It does sound good though and that's hard to say coming from a Red Devil
The Toffees would do well to provoke Balo.
Lallana draws an early free kick from Barry. Stevie G. will fancy this one.
Gareth Chopper Barry with the first foul
Barry fouls Lallana just outside the box.
Early yellow card for Gareth Barry.
Barry booked for that.
BOOM BOOM or CHOP CHOP, UWS?
It's taking forever to take the kick... right in the wall
Yellow to Barry, first of many cards flashed today. Besic should be getting one too by the match's end.
No - it's Balo with a soft chip into the top of the wall. Rubbish.
Into the wall by Balo.
Timmy's been in poor form this season - I blame the beard.
Good point, UWS. The red section were definitely on top when chanting YNWA. Don't know about Gerry and the Pacemakers. They are one of my favorites.
Didn't he have the beard last season?
Did Moreno take a chunk out of Lukaku?
Talking about United's poor start... it hasn't hurt them that much except for already playing some weak teams.
Chelsea are the only ones that have opened a lead
Timmy saves easily at the near post from Raheem
Raheem has a first stretch of the legs but his final shot was tame into Timmy's midriff.
The beard is the problem
Balo seemed to be through on goal from Henderson's ball but he was flagged offside. Early warning for Everton's backline.
But for that weak start they would be challenging Chelsea. They really need to stop leaking goals to the point where they will need a plumber.
Two blocked shots by the Toffees and a shout for handball , I say ball to hand on Barry.
Barry better keep his cool.
Huge appeals for a handball by "Chopper" Barry. Definitely seen penalties given for that. His arms were well up.
And now he's charged in on Balo. How is Barry still on the pitch?
Ref doesn't give a pen as it hit Barry's arm... he said he was protecting his face
Now Chopper Barry could have been sent off after another foul
Barry with a chop on Balo. More of a hook. Pool fans want a second yellow. It would be harsh, IMHO.
Timmy pushes a sneaky free kick from Balo around the post.
Great save by Beardy
Timmy superbly saves a header from Lallana off the corner from Stevie G then Martin Atkinson blows the whistle to the relief of the Toffees.
Hibbert leaving Lallana unmarked, Howard more than makes up for his error.
Someone will not be pleased that his Toffees are playing like Nobody.
Agreed, Someone. He's more than a little rusty
Liverpool definitely in the ascendancy here. The Toffees just trying to weather the onslaught.
We need to congratulate Bob on his publishing contract. I wonder if it will have any footie themes in it.
Wouldn't call it an onslaught
Last season's Pool would be at least two up by now
Another corner for Liverpool. Everton really under the cosh.
Great run by Lallana and Stones heads out for a corner.
Everton with little control and less pace on the ball. Home side controlling play.
Raheem wins another corner off of Stones.
Come on, Raheem - use your left foot!
What's this news
Bob doesn't share things with non BookFace people
Timmy easily catches the corner.
EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT!
Well, Pool are definitely dominating. When Pool won 4-0 it took about twenty minutes for them to score. It was the Sturridge show that rainy January night.
Thanks for the shout-out, MUR - I'm really happy with it. It's the third publisher I've sent the work to. Third time's a charm, I guess.
If you're not on Facebook, you're missing out, UWS.
The Toffees seemed to have weathered the early storm.
The pace of the match has slowed noticeably. Everton have weathered that opening patch.
Glad to do it. If you need any feedback for the book just let me know.I noticed that me missus had some feedback.
How a Big Club vs Not a Big Club? You must have been doing a jig.
A horrible miscue by Balo.
The Chunk easily went past Stevie G then shot straight at fellow Belgian, Mignolet.
Pool's fifth corner.
The corner is headed away and cleared by Besic then Moreno shoots halfway to Goodison Park.
Balo doesn't look sharp enough.
Pace has slowed a bit with the home side still in control of the proceedings.
Big mistake by Markovic allowed Baines in. The ball toward Lukaku wasn't good enough but that was Everton's best moment so far.
A timely clearance by Loveren off a pass from Baines, who too easily nipped in . The Pool defense fell asleep.
I get no news... and you guys love it
Everton's strongest challenge gets knocked aside. Baines needs to be involved more.
I agree with Jim Beglin. The pace of the game seems too much for Markovic.
Henderson with a powerful effort straight at Timmy that is beaten away.
Mirallis pulls a hamstring. Probably bring in McGeady.
Everton's transition game has been poor.
Mirallis has pulled a hammy and I know it's a derby, but really poor to cheer about that. He's obviously not faking.
Spot on Someone. You called it.
Sorry, UWS. I'm the nice one who kindly posted the news a few minutes ago.
McGeady has now come on for Mirallis.
Aidan McGeady coming on to replace the hammied Mirallas.
OH! Great cross by Moreno and if Balo had made any contact . Pool would have taken the lead.
McGeady at Mignolet when he should have passed. great tackle by Barry.
Everton have forgotten their passing drills as Besic gives it away.
Superb through ball by Henderson for Manquillo. He didn't have many options as there were plenty of blue shirts back.
The Chunk straight at Mignolet after the pass from Barry intended for Naismith had too much power.
Balotelli runs into trouble once again.
Useless pass from the Chunk.
Morning session done in Gleneagles... Euro 6 1/2 US 5 1.2
Now concentrate on the footie
Useless by Markovic , who ruined a great possession.
Markovic has been well of the mark.
Skrtel down and Kolo warming up.
More injury woes now - Skrtel seems crocked.
Something of special interest, particularly to UWS and Someone: United face the Toffees next Sunday at 7 AM EDT. A really early match.
I think he's okay.
Ian Rush - not an Elland Road legend. He was recently voted the worst striker that we ever had at LUFC.
Balo has a shot blocked for a corner,.
Yes, ridiculously early match next Sunday.
Again, I won't be around for the third match of the day.
Off to watch Matt play at home. He is a starting freshman and doing really well... his team isn't
Tom plays today at Oneonta. We went down yesterday to that one. They lost their first two matches but have won 6 in a row and have had a school record 6 consecutive clean sheets
Fredonia have no chance on Oct 11
Agreed about not being a legend , but surely he's not any worse than Connor Whickham or Michael has the Ricketts.
SS panel all go for United today
2-1, 2-1, 2-1 2-1 and 2-0
Howard has been iffy this season but great today
Raheem straight at Timmy for another Pool corner.
I agree, mate - saw our Blue Devils play the other night. They're rubbish.
Howard makes a good stop on Sterling. Too many corners to the home squad.
Corner hits the first man... they're professional!!!!
Agreed , UWS. United need to shore up that defense.
Skrtel's not only back on but also chipping in crosses now. Where does he think he's playing?
Wishing Matt and Tom the best . A great run of form. I'm sorry that I won't be up on the 11th, but financially cannot do it this year.
The Stoppage Time is being sponsored now?!
Two minutes of stoppage time./
What's next - "This groin strain brought to you by Ben-Gay!"
Not a Sterling final ball after a great counter from Moreno.
BOOM BOOM!
Home side showing some late half teeth. Everton will be lucky to escape this half level.
I won't be around for the third match either. Heading up to the in-laws for a party.
Half time
Half-time - After that furious start, the pace slowed and we're still deadlocked at the break.
It's 0-0 at the half. I'm not sure how as it's been really entertaining.
Celtic up on St. Mirren 1-0 with a lGuidetti goal.
Away we go
First corner for Everton....
Markovic goes down under the challenge of McCarthy. Appeals but nothing doing from the ref.
Slightly better attack for Everton to start the second half.
Just noticed that Everton are attacking the Kop
Wonder if Everton did it to stick it to Pool!!
Level at St Mirren.
I'm back after dropping off Melanie for her first driving lesson.
Helen Mirren will be pleased.
St Mirren have tied it up against MID TABLE Celtic
Bob never replied to my reply about Ian Rush
It's unusual to the point of Academic proportions as Callie and Hamilton are in EL spots and Dundee United top the table . Surprising indeed!
SO Ian Rush is voted worse than Connor Bloody Whickham, Michael has the Ricketts, and David Healy. Interesting.
Sorry, mate - I didn't catch it. I agree - Wickham and Ricketts were worse, but Rush came with heightened expectations.
A slow start to the second half.
The SPL is poor. I like the competition but Celtic have been very complacent, and it shows.
So, Bob, what do you think of the change over at Elland Road
They are promotion contenders as of late
Agreed, but I think his best days were behind him and some of the expectations may have been unrealistic at the twilight of his career. No probs, Bob.
A Nice lead for them in Monte Carlo in a French Riviera Derby,.
I'm delighted with the change in form, obviously, but we've still got lots of issues to deal with. We sold our top two scorers again this summer - McCormack and Smith - I'd be happy with mid-table.
Agreed Someone. How else would Celtic be behind those mugs in the table.
What about the new manager?
A frustrating afternoon for Balotelli. Markovic trotting off - Coutinho on.
Markovic well off the Mark as he is replaced by Coutinho.A correct decision by Brendan.
Shaw starting for United
Lord knows the other teams need money.
Hoping Eto'o can provide some late spark today.
Leeds has a new manager? Matty Smith left? I must be out of the loop. I thought Redfearn was still caretaker.
He's no Mowbray, which is the best I can say at this point.
So does Patty NcNair.. 19 year old
It wasn't Smith.. it was Redfern(sp?)
Great news, UWS. Agreed, Someone , if you are talking about the SPL. Etoo did against Chelsea,.
Bob said Ross and Smith were sold this summer. I know Ross went to Fulham , but am now hearing conflicting stories about Matty Smith
Baines fouls Balo just outside the box
Guidetti's brace puts Celtic up 2-1.
Free kick to the home side, and 1-0.
Yeah - Darko Milanic - a no-name Slovenian that Cellino has brought in.
Goal... great free kick by the Captain
GOAL !!!! STEVIE G SCORES FROM THE FREE KICK TO GIVE THE REDS THE LEAD.
GOAL! Stevie G.! Of course
Should Howard have got that... it wasn't in the corner
He dove too late
A delightful chip of the type that Balo attempted in the first half. Expertful done.
1-0 Pool!
Superbly curled inches over the wall and inches above Timmy's fingertips. Who wanted him dropped?
and how does Everton respond. Take out Hibbert, bring in Eto'o.
Joe Hart is starting on the bench... strange! He's been good this season!
New signing Willy Cabellero is starting
Someone will not be pleased about that goal, but will be pleased that Celtic have gone 1-2 up at Helen's club.
Lukaku almost in
THEN
Balo hits the bar from six yards out
Both Ross and Smithy were shopped to Fulham this summer.
Great cross by Raheem and Balo blasts over from two yards out. Danny would have tucked that one away.
Sterling blows by Hibbert, nice feed that Balotelli shoots high. Close.
Everton's nearing a shambles.
WOW! It's as if the front line is on strike!
Oh - Lukaku should have scored there. Totally mistimed the header.
Will anyone be around for the Baggies vs Burnley tomorrow?
Leeds ... three wins in four....let's change manager!
Stevie G has been booked.
I'll be watching the golf!!!
Technically , Leeds don't have a manager. Perhaps that's the answer.
OUCH, UWS. Taking putt putt over footie. I thought I would never hear that.
I'll be switching back and forth
Henderson straight at Timmy after Stones blocked a Sterling effort.
Browning in? WHAT?????
How about PIP. Then you don't have to switch.
A Sterling tackle on Hibbert. Browning for the Toffees Academy , is on for Hibbert to make his Toffees debut in the Merseyside Derby, of all matches.
At least Hibbert is out,.
Yes - Milanic has come in as "head coach." Don't know what the implications of that are.
Nice start by Browning, out muscling Raheem. At least Hibbert is out.
Need a goal Everton, not sure if a 20 year old defender in his first match is going to produce that.
Great control there from the Chunk but then the cross was woeful.
Who is Milanic and is his background in Serie A or B, or some sort of Italian footie?
That does seem a peculiar change.
Balo goes down as if he was punched in face... he should be booked... why let him get away with it
Balo falls over dramatically after Stones biffs him on the chin.
We should be up bright and early next Sunday as United play the Toffees at high noon, GDT. That's 6 AM my time.
Agreed, UWS.
The Pool fans really loved that bit of magic from Balo.
Pool fans applaud as Balo wins a free kick off of Barry.
The Toffees should have brought on ETo'o. Now they will.
More applause as Balo wins a free kick off of Besic,.
