Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Are England Really That Good?

Apologies for my lack of activity on the LOB during this international break. I was leading an Open House over on campus while England were playing yesterday. From what I gather from reading the reviews this morning, the boys were rather good, responding immediately to the unfortunate Henderson own goal. That's four wins out of four now in qualifiers. So, here's my question: is this England side really that good? Or is the group weaker than we'd anticipated and England will inevitably disappoint in France in eighteen months?

Your thoughts, gents?

Great question Bob. I did not see the match , but unfortunately, have to go with the latter. England got lucky and ended up in probably the weakest qualifying group. I realize that they are just a few wins from qualification, but it hides England's weaknesses that have not really been addressed. They lack depth, don't have real leadership on the pitch, and cannot deliver against top quality opposition. WOY was spot on when he stated that the Jocks will be a real test on Tuesday.Strange as it may seem, they are England's toughest opponent since the WC debacle. I don't know why the Swiss have capitulated other than Hitzfeld left. I expected better from Slovenia too. I think England will falter when they face real opposition in France.
