Some Crucial Tests
Every weekend in the Premiership throws up some critical tests of teams, but we start with just a test. Last season, Liverpool's title run came apart when Steven Gerrard's slip allowed Samuel Eto'o to slip in and score a crucial goal. This season they're a long way off the title and this match is about stopping Chelski's momentum and turning Liverpool's season around. We start there and then at the 10am hour we've got United v. Palace. We end the day with a chastened Citeh away to QPR. That and the Championship slate of matches makes for a crucial day - don't miss it!

The team news is fascinating, with Brendan Rogers criticized in mid-week for resting players in the Champions League clash against Real for this one. And his regulars are back in the side today:
Liverpool: Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno, Gerrard, Can, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Balotelli.
Subs: Brad Jones, Toure, Lambert, Lallana, Lucas, Allen, Borini.
Chelsea: Courtois, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta, Matic, Fabregas, Ramires, Oscar, Hazard, Costa.
Subs: Cech, Luis, Zouma, Drogba, Mikel, Remy, Willian.
Referee: Anthony Taylor (Cheshire)
Good morning Bob. I read about that and the criticism came from his mentor and his supposed friend, Jose.
I am watching an all Midlands Championship promotion encounter on BEIN as Derby County hosts Wolves.
Morning, MUR! How are you, mate?
Nice moment of silence for Remembrance Weekend.
Now then....what kind of match will we have now.
Diego Costa's got his wee blue gloves on - must be a bit parky at Anfield today.
And Liverpool get us underway; they'll be attacking the Kop End in the second half.
Emre Can has a go early on and wins a corner. Gerrard to swing it in. Collected by Courtois.
Oh - Hazard's run has Liverpool scrambling and he nearly slipped in Costa.
Good pace in the match right from the off.
Oh - Balotelli's was well found and took the ball down beautifully but just couldn't find Can in the middle.
Surely they can't keep up this intense pace.
GOAL! Yes - a deflected shot from Can loops up into the Chelski goal. Great start to this match - it will really open up now.
Can tried his luck from about forty yards and got his just rewards. It cannoned off Cahill who was twisting a bit and should have stood up to the shot more strongly. The wicked deflection gave Courtois no hope.
1-0 Reds
Oh - Costa got the better of Gerrard and was nearly in. Wins a corner.
Hey Bob
I just came downstairs
The goal was scored soon after I turned on the TV upstairs
Sorry for being a sleepy bum
Chelsea tie it up
Goalline technology at work
GOAL! Chelski have scrambled an equalizer. It was a bit unclear but Anthony Taylor blows for the goal.
Costa's initial headed effort was saved well by Mignolet but he couldn't keep Cahill's effort out. Spot on by the referee.
1-1!
Cracking match so far - I hope it keeps up.
Not even a hello
Good morning Bob and UWS. I must be half asleep because I was commenting on UWS'S post. I have been watching the whole match
The Rams have gone three up vs the Wolves.
Balotelli has the ball in the net but he was well offside. Went too early.
The goal line technology paid dividends as Mignolet superbly saved a header from Costa off the corner from Fab, but couldn't keep out the rebound from Cahill that was barely over the line and for only a mili second.
Sorry, UWS - this match has been so fast paced I didn't notice you coming on. Morning!
Pool were doing the Can Can for a while as they took the lead . Can he score? Yes he Can.
Corner to the Pool.
A training ground routine nearly came off as Chelsea blocked two shots off the corner and it led to another./
Big shout for a penalty - I might have given that one as he stuck his elbow out. Taylor gives a corner instead.
The next corner from Stevie G is headed away by Costa./
I will only be around for this match and maybe some of United's match with Palace
We are off to Oneonta for the SUNYAC Final
The Battle of the Red Dragons ended 2-2 in the regular season
Oneonta are ranked third in the nation and Cortland are ranked 24th
Boom boom, MUR - I was trying to think of a tin can joke but you beat me to it. Well in!
Best of luck to Tom and the Red Dragons today!
Te Rams are three up vs the Wolves at the half in of those vital promotion matches.
Shove in the back by Costa and now the handbags are out. Referee Taylor intervening. No cards dealt.
Ta, Bob. He finally gave me a chance.
COME ON YOU RED DRAGONS.
MAKE THE NCAA PLAYOFFS!
The FA Cup First Round starts this weekend and opened with a one of the biggest upsets in FA Cup history as Warrington of the 8th tier ( Division One North of the Northern Premier League) defeated Exeter City of the Football League 1-0 yesterday.
Thanks for the good luck MUR... that's if you mean the Red Dragons from Cortland and not the ones from Oneonta
What a joy it is to not have to care about the FA Cup until the 3rd Round.
Great solo run by Coutinho and a great save by Courtois, then JT hoofs away for a Pool corner.
They are close to the making the NCAAs no matter what happens today
Off to the loo, so there will be a goal
How can two SUNY schools adopt the same mascot? Doesn't seem right.
Definitely cheering for the ones from Cortland . An interesting coincidence.
Don't be flushing any budgies, UWS - it's dangerous!
Are Chelski the new Stoke? Everything from them is long ball and trying to create havoc in the box.
I'm not sure why Chelsea are playing that way. Perhaps Jose is adapting to Counteract Brendan's tactics.
Liverpool have really dropped off at this point and are letting Chelski control the match.
So far so good for UWS!
I agree about the FA Cup, but I think everyone would agree that that result yesterday was one of the biggest giant killings in the history of the FA Cup.
There has been a lot of praise for Matic this season but I don't see it. He's your run of the mill destroyer in my view.
Indeed. I'm just happy that now that LUFC aren't in L1 I don't have to pay attention to things such as the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Division.
I'm back from the loo and did not miss a goal.
They would have played in that competition this week during the international break. I thin Reddie will turn things around. It will be a dogfight to avoid the drop.
Great block by Johnson from Hazard.
What about UWS - that's an extra long sitting on the khazi. Struth!
Costa tamely to Mignolet after Henderson cheaply conceded possession in a dangerous position.
Johnson saved a certain goal there. Risky stuff from Pool.
He must be constipated.
Balo doing a nice job holding up play today. It's been a better performance but he needs a goal.
That reminds me. My annual checkup at the urologist on Thursday was a success.
Again - I might have given that penalty as Moreno moved his arms to block the shot. It doesn't matter if it would've hit his chest - if he moves arms to ball, it's a pen.
An accurate assessment of Balo.
Well done, mate - glad to hear it.
I responded to both posts yesterday. What did you think of my starting XIs? Also, how did Samlling make the England squad?
I always wish him well because he's such an entertaining character in the game.
Cheers mate.
Not so entertaining since his move to Merseyside.
Mignolet does well to hold an effort from fellow Belgian, Hazard after Pool yet again cheaply conceded possession.
You've certainly picked an experimental side from that squad but I can't fault it. That's what friendlies are for.
Costa wins a corner off of Skrtel.
It's been mainly comic relief from Balo since his return - have you been watching "Men in Blazers?" They've been having fun with him.
Mignolet punches away the corner from Fab.
I need to start watching that show.
I'm back and no goals scored!!
Sterling gets a yellow card for a block on Ramires.
Sterling booked for obstruction on Ramires. That seemed harsh.
Welcome back, mate.
How was the loo, mate? Any soiled budgies?
Loveren heads away a free kick from Fab.
England have an important qualifier vs Slovenia next Saturday at Noon Eastern. I picked a less experimental XI for that match
A minute of stoppage time.
Did you see that Jimmy Greaves, who missed out on a World Cup medal because of injury, was awarded one after a fan petition... iS NOW SELLING IT!!!
Half time
It's 1-1 at the half of a finely balanced match.
WOW!! I wonder why he would sell his winner's medal.
Jimmy has always been a scoundrel. I'll bet that he really needs the dosh.
WOW !!! The rams have gone four up vs Wolves in what is supposed to be a promotion challenge.
Did you see this Bob
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/nov/07/leeds-united-served-winding-up-petition
It's sad to hear that. I thought he solved his drinking and gambling problems. Sad to hear about one of the all time greats.
GOAL !!! 5-0 RAMS AS JOHNNY RUSSELL HAS A BRACE.
The ball was played to left back, Craig Forsyth and his superb cross was superb finished by Johnny Russell on the hour mark. The Rams are top of the table for the time BEIN.
I was listen to sports radio last night in the car and this american bloke who apparently loves the world cup says he won't watch the 2022 WC if it stays in Qatar.
There are stories of hundreds of people dying in construction of stadiums and they have slave labor from North Korea doing the work
Has anyone heard anything about this?
I just read the story and it's the last thing Bob and his fellow Leeds United fans need. It's really unnecessary and should have been solved outside of court.
I know that Qatar have a reputation of hiring slave labor for all types of jobs and have been accused of many human rights violations. They have supposedly kidnapped people and refused to let them leave the country. That is why they should never have been awarded the World Cup. That story does not surprise me. Sad and tragic news.
Wow, they are showing the Southampton match and not United at ten!
Well they are second in the league
I would have normally been upset but I can watch any match in the 400s
Teams coming out for the second half
NBC there to see it... Fox would be having a commercial for shamwow
Away we go
The second half is underway
Agreed with you about Fox. You are a lucky bugger. I can see why NBC would show the Saints. They should easily defeat the struggling Foxes.
Bob will be hoping for a comfortable Leeds win vs bottom club, Blackpool.
I'm back for the second half.
Yes. I double checked both on the telly menu and on the Dish web site.
Did you read the comments during half time
I don't want them to slip by
Ivanovic booked for a foul on Sterling. That seemed harsh.
That sucks MUR
I wonder why?
welcome back, Bob.
I'm not sure, but you have Time Warner, so it must be a special TW policy.
I commented. Sad stories about both Leeds and Qatar.
Costa with an overhead kick.. almost
Don't like him.. he should be sent off every game
I'm just getting through the half-time comments, which I missed while I was waking Kate up and making us bagels.
What's your issue with Costa?
I saw your comments... I didn't want Bob to see it too
I still think that Qatar will be a summer tournament - or that it'll be given to another country. The domestic leagues won't stand for a winter tournament.
He is is dirty and a jerk
Sterling with a shot saved
Chelsea break.. blocked shot
Great save by Courtois from Sterling. Then Stevie G blocks a shot from Hazard for a Chelsea corner.
Sorry UWS. Bob, I hoe the WC is given to another country.
Leeds better win today.. home to the Tangerines
Yeah - we need a big morale-boosting win.
MUR
Do we want Chelsea to win today?
I hate them but they are too far ahead of United already... we would want to finish above Pool for CL spot
I just checked the channel list on the Dish web site. I keyed in my zip code and picked the multi sports pack. It's mainly PPV channels and regional Fox channels in the 400s. I think you might get the extra matches due to living in the Northeast. I guess Texas residents aren't that lucky.
I want Pool to win for sure. It would open up the title race. Plenty of time to overtake Pool for fourth. we have to do our part with or without Smalling!
I would have thought NBC would have them will all the cable/Dish companies
Agreed,UWS. Leeds should be able to defeat the Tangerines even if Hockaday was still in charge.
I'm not sure that the winding-up order is going to be of much consequence for us. The major issue we're dealing with off the pitch is with Cellino. Will he stay or will he go.
I think it depends upon the market.Prem footie is more popular in the Northeast than in South Texas.
Hopefully he goes on the 17th!
It's currently the same score as Chelsea's CL match in Slovenia.
More handbags between JT and Can.
Balo is offside as Pool play on while Ivanovic is down. Why is JT starting a fight. Doesn't he know that it's up to the ref to stop play and not the players? Even Le Saux agrees with me.
JT should be arguing with Cahill for playing on, not doing the Can Can!
Kate doesn't like the look of Diego Costa - thinks he looks sinister.
Great song by the Chelsea fans
Balotelli Ballotelli
Balotelli your a twat
Balo booked for a stupid foul on Oscar. Learned from the Smalling School of Defending.
See... I was right... well in Kate
I agree with Kate. You should tell her that he acts like he looks.
Bloody hell... he scores!
GOAL! Diego Costa puts the knife in with his 10th goal!
GOAL !!! COSTA GIVES CHELSEA THE LEAD.
Any way back for the Reds now?
For David
http://worldsoccertalk.com/2013/08/15/where-to-find-premier-league-extra-time-on-your-cable-or-satellite-system/
Willian did well to find Azpi with a long diagonal ball down the left. He cut inside Coutinho and his cross broke to Costa , who made no mistakes as he scored with a great finish.
I expect Chelsea to hold on and win. Borini on for Coutinho, who was at fault for the goal and why the hell is Joe Allen on for Can as Pool need a goal. No, the little Welshman can not score vs Chelsea.
The Rams have defeated wolves 5-0.
Stay awake.. there is no excuse for being offside there
Great win for Derby - it puts them back on top.
I cut and pasted the info from the link UWS sent. Thanks for the info.
DISH was originally listed as one of the participating TV providers who would offer Premier League Extra Time, but DISH has decided to offer NBC Sports Live Extra only (in addition to NBC and NBC Sports Network, of course).
Is Lambert getting a sniff at Anfield... what a mistake by him making that move.... HE COULD HAVE BEEN PLAYING ALL THE TIME AND IN SECOND PLACE
It may be temporary for the Rams, depending upon the results of the 10 AM fixtures.
ooh... that deflection could have gone anywhere
I agree - Rickie's in the England squad but he can't get a sniff in the Liverpool side.
Borini had a shot deflect off Matic for a corner after a cross from Joe Allen was cut out
The same can be said of Loveren and Lallana. Lambert should not be in the England squad.
My interpretation of the link that UWS sent is that Dish is not showing the other matches. Thanks for the info.
One point from the last nine for Liverpool but still ahead of United!!
Hopefully United can put that right this morning
Oh - a really poor delivery from Gerrard. I can really see why Pool fans are frustrated with him.
Atrocious corner from Stevie G is hoofed away by the first man.
IT SUCKS... DISH SHOULD BE DISGUSTED WITH THEMSELVES
Here comes Rickie.... replacing Balo... COME ON LAMBS
Mario trots off - another match without a goal. Frustrating for him but he worked hard today.
Rickie Lambert is on for Balo.
BLOODY HELL! Why not take off a defensive player and play with two up front? Does Brendan want to win this match?
I agree - does Brendan really want to win this one?
I agree, Bob. I thought Balo did well today and should have stayed on.
I agree, UWS. Poor by Dish or is it Diss?
Sterling with another cynical foul - he's getting close to a second yellow.
Perhaps Brendan wants to renew his friendship with his mentor? The master is definitely teaching the pupil a lesson.
I hate Chelsea winning.. I just hate Jose so much
Will that goal Costa the Pool?
I agree, UWS. Me too.
I do too, even though their my PPP pick for the title.
Oscar deservedly booked for a stupid trip on Johnson.
STRose has no idea how he is top
I believe Strose is now top of the pops.
It's a great achievement by Strose.
He is and he has no idea how
Pool have definitely run out of ideas.
United had 17 points last season under Moyes and only 13 this season under LVG!
Of course, the United of last season got progressively worse and couldn't attack
This season... we can't defend
Well, for one thing, Matt's also picked Chelski for the title. Then he's got Citeh and Arsenal in the European slots. And Leicester and Burnley in the dropzone. And Norwich and Watford in the promotion race. Then he's got all three European leagues right.
It's official - you should have kept Moyesy.
He can check the attachment that Bob sent. He will probably discover that one or two position changes can do the trick as I have experienced in the past.
Costa booked for atypically cynical challenge.
The Gerrard of old would have buried that one
Big appeal for handball as Gerrard fires toward goal. It's Cahill again. Have to look at it again.
How was that not hand ball by Cahill? Pool should have had a penalty.
Dead cert penalty there.
That could have been a pen
Definitely a penalty because Cahill dove.
That explains why Strose is top. Great explanation.
That says it all. Pool supporters playing on their cell phones instead of watching. That would have never happened when Paisley or Shanks were in charge.
5 minutes
Five minutes of stoppage time asDrogs is on for Costa
Felipe Luis to come on to shore things up.
Well... there were no cell phones back then... that could an important fact
I hate all this time wasting substitutions... it should be banned
Into stoppage time....
Will the Champions Elect concede as they did at OT
That's your pet peeve. Mine is the obstruction that defenders get away with when they usher the ball out to touch.
