Thank Goodness It's Saturday!
After an especially long workweek, it's a pleasure to bunker in at the Cottage for some Premiership action. First up - a test of two under pressure managers as Newcastle take on Liverpool at the SJP. At 10am, there's the all-London clash of Chelski v. QPR and Arsenal taking on win-less Burnley. It's all an appetizer for tomorrow morning's Manc Derby. Join me, won't you?

Of course, I've blown it again with the time difference, but that means I'm up early enough to catch a rebroadcast of the brilliant "Men in Blazers" show. Luv it!
I'm starting the morning with the Brummie Derby, then.
Norwich pushed Wolves into fourth, at least temporarily, with a solid win against woeful Bolton yesterday evening.
Here's the team news for the early Premiership match coming up on NBC Sports Network.
Good morning Bob. I'm watching the Brummie Derby too. I didn't expect newly promoted Wolves to have such a good start. Kenny Jacket is doing an excellent job.
Newcastle: Krul; Janmaat, S. Taylor, Coloccini, Dummett; Sissoko, Abeid, Colback; Obertan, Cisse, Ameobi. Subs: Elliot, Haidara, R.Taylor, Aarons, Cabella, Gouffran, Perez
Liverpool: Mignolet, Johnson, Moreno, Lovren, Skrtel, Gerrard, Allen, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Balotelli. Subs: Jones, Toure, Manquillo, Lallana, Can, Lambert, Borini.
The referee: Andre Marriner
Surprisingly , the Toon may be favorites against the Pool. The Toon are in great form and Pool on a horrible run.
Morning, MUR - great to have you on board at least for part of today. I agree - Kenny Jacket's been brilliant for Wolves, who deserve to be back up in the Championship. I'm surprised that Brum have had a decent start today.
Actually , I have the pleasure of being on board all morning. Out trip to the meet got cancelled.
Big match for Leeds today - the first one with Redders as the main man. Away to Evil Cardiff. Given our current form, I'd take a draw. We start in 18th, only five points above the dropzone. That's not good enough.
Ah - that's brilliant. Great to have you around.
Morning boys
I am here as well... no games today for the Nocito boys
This is the last day of late kick offs... back to normal tomorrow
Wow - the boys are all back!
I just switched to NBSN as there will be a minute's silence for Rememberence
Fal Back for us tonight?
Nicely observed moment of silence for Remembrance Sunday.
Good morning UWS. Great to have you on board.
Correct Bob. Fall back tonight.
They're off from SJP.
Matt's team just finished their season last night
Tom's team is still on a roll and are in the semis of the SUNYACS on Wednesday
The Toon seeking a third consecutive Prem victory for the first time in year.
I'm actually already showered and shaved!!!
Well done to Cortland and Tom!
WAY HAY!!! Glad to hear Cortland are doing so well. If they win SUNYAC would they go to the NCAA playoffs ?
Did you all have lots of trick-or treaters last night?
Have you lot got a strange black goalmouth graphic on top of the picture?
Oh - now it's gone. Am I seeing things?
Loads of trick or treaters. It was my Halloween in the house, as I was at a conference this time last year.
How about Villa's run
After 4 games... 10 points and 4 goals
After 9 games... 10 points and 4 goals
Their last goal was the winner at Anfield!
I saw the graphic too
Same here. We always get a lot. I was getting the same black boxes.
I was noticing that that. Villa have been in wretched form. Even QPR thrashed them. They went from a CL spot to being near the drop zone.
Weird.
That sounds like Leeds' recent run of form. No wins in seven.
The Toon had a great win in midweek . At was a against a near full strength Citeh side.
Haven't Leeds done well in the matches where Redders has been in charge? They got a good draw at CR last week.
At least they scored!!!
It looks like Fall has finally arrived in our area. It's in the 50s with a cool touch in the air. Highs will be in the high 70s today and with near clear skies.
Why didn't he shoot!!!
Sissy was looking for it!!!
If he swung for the shot it may have been a pen
Never a penalty. Cissoko should have been booked for diving.
Great nickname, UWS. That's how he was acting.
They did have a great run under Redders after Hockaday was sacked. Then under Milanic the wheels came off.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2816775/Leeds-United-owner-Massimo-Cellino-talks-Red-Bull-possible-buy-out.html
I haven't read it, but the link sounds like great new for Bob. Let's hope it's not a load of bull.
I was listening to Talksport during the League Cup match. I know he scored in the match after coming on but...before the match...they were warming up playing 5 v 2. He refused to go in the middle and then when was kicked off the pitch by a coach
A moment's applause. I was talking to Elizabeth, so I didn't hear who it was for
Yeah - I've heard that rumor that Cellino wants out.
Not much to read but that is the headline
Leeds could be in the fast lane
Two Newcastle fans were remembered.
Not much happening in this match so far.... where's the 4-3ers
Are you talking about Balo?
Nor in the Brummie Derby . It's 0-0 at the half in that one. The Blues were hit for eight last Saturday.
Back to Cortland, it is possible that they will go to the NCAAs without winning the SUNYACs
I really hope he makes it
Kathy made the D1 tourney every year
I made it my freshman year as number 1 seed in the State... we lost to RIT and I never made it back! Always the first team to left out
Janmaat wins a corner off of Skrtel.
Loveren clears away the corner.
I wish the Red Dragons well and a great run for Tom.
yes balo
I don't know if Red Bull can bring enough dosh to Elland Road.
Overrun was running down the wing.... something went in his thigh
Bob will be pleased if Cellino leaves. Here's hoping that it's no bull and Bob can celebrate with a cold one that will provide an extra boost of energy.
He was being dangerous
Shame
Ta, UWS. That sounds like Balo. He's been playing like he couldn't give a toss. The late winner in midweek was good for them.
Agreed. It must have been an awkward landing. WOW!!! He's really injured. That's it for him. He has done well the last few matches.
Why... they're loaded!!!!
All F! teams have mega bucks
Rolando Aarons, scorer of the first goal in midweek at the Etihad, looks set to replace Ober.
It wasn't his landing... it was like if he did his hammy but it was his thigh... in full sprint
The eighteen year old Dutchman is on for Ober.
Here comes the new Newcastle sensation Aarons coming on for Over-ran.
Soccer Saturday
http://ifirstrowus.eu/watch/294565/1/watch-soccer-saturday.html
Yes. It looked really horrible.Wishing him a speedy recovery.
Cheers UWS. Is First Row finally working?
Another Toon corner.
Thanks for the link, mate. I'll look forward to it during the 11am matches.
It was a free kick near the corner flag and a poor one from Habeed.
Sparky is outside keeping Elizabeth company while she takes down the Halloween decorations. He's loving the cooler weather.
I have it on now
THey have interesting banter before games
I like to see their picks too
Well - I hope it works out but I've seen successive owners come in and not invest in the club.
I hope so too. You deserve better. Anything has to be better than Cellino.
Will he sell the club on the 17th?
Tony Cottee says this is comfortably the worst 30 minutes of Prem football this season! Not a single shot!
Classic, Jeff blames Cottee completely... says he always gets crappy games... he should cut from any game duties!
Foul throw!
THe last bloke at Elland Road lasted less than Cloughie... will there be a book and movie?
It hasn't been a classic.
Classic banter. I missed the foul throw because I was checking something in the bedroom.
Free kick chance for the Toon
I doubt it - there wasn't enough action.
Into the wall... corner
Yes. it was a dark time for Darko, the last clown that managed Leeds. I think he lasted 32 days, a dozen less than Cloughie.
Unbelievably bad corner followed by an unbelievably bad shot!!!
Wretched corner. How did it not get any lift. An atrocious finish from Sammy Ameobi that landed in Row Z.
I could have taken a better corner. I did back in the day.
Dummett wins a corner off of Loveren.
We should get some money back on our cable bills for having to watch this tosh.
The really tall stand is right behind the goal... that is the reason it was Row Z.. it would have gone out of the ground
Mini comes for the ball... doesn't get it.. saved off line
A better ine from Colback and Glenn Joohnson clears off the line . Another corner.
The whole stadium is fed up with this game
Habeed puts in a floater that has a lot of hang time. Those are never successful. A sa former defender, I always looked forward to clearing those.
Great info . Sammy definitely cleared the stadium. Shola will not be pleased.
BBC had a poll today asking who are the best goalkeeper in the Prem
Who were the three that got votes
Skrtel is down. He heads just wide from the corner. He is okay.
Oh - Skrtel missed a free header and then ran smack into a defender.
My guess is Courtois, Begovic, and Mignolet.
What a difference between the Liverpool side of one season to another.
They were so exciting last season
I was actually in their corner to win the league because their play deserved it
Many times they were two up in five minutes
I'm going for Courtois, Sussudio and Begovic.
Very true, UWS.
The results were
Courtois 55.9%
De Gea 36.9%
Hart 7.3%
Skrtel is into the book there for a foul on the edge of the box.
The Toon have a last minute free kick as Sissy was brought down... inside the D
Skrtel called for a trip on Cissoko by the D. Was it a trip ? Yes it was. Skrtel booked.
Hart seems like a sentimental choice.
Taylor got a card for standing in from on Minny for the second time
What's the point of standing there!
The free kick id in the D. Tough to score from there.
Two minutes of stoppage time.
Atrocious free kick from Cissy well off target.
The ball wall has to be just passed the spot because of the D
The wall is over the spray!!!
Useless free kick... just like the half
Mignolet nearly dispossessed , but got away with it.
Liverpool are playing so bad
They can't clear the ball!
We were one for tree. Hart didn't deserve to make the top three, but De Gea did,
no nil nillers since Bob and I were in fourth grade
Livepool have all season.
The end of an awful first half as it is 0-0.
I am off for walkies to wake me up from this crap
It's also 0-0 in the Brummie Derby with an hour played.
Cheers UWS. Catch you later.
What happened in the fourth grade?
Half-time. I'm off to whip out the smelling salts. That's the dullest half of football I've watched in a long time.
0-0
Agreed, Bob. The Brummie Derby is a replica of the match at SJP.
Wolves missed an open goal as Darren Randolph fumbled a cross from Bakary Sako and the header was tipped over by Randolph for a corner that came to nothing.
Leon Clarke heads high and wide for Wolves off a great cross.
OH!!! Dave Edwards chipped Darren Randolph and his effort went off the top of the bar and out for a goal kick. The closest either team has come to scoring.
The attendance is just over 25,000 at Molineaux.
OH!!! Just wide by Bakary Sako off a great Wolves possession. They will eventually take the lead at this rate.
A great challenge by Brek Shea as he wins a rare Brum corner off a challenge from Tommy Rowe.
Back with a strong cuppa tea, which I'm going to need as the second half starts. This is not the Liverpool of last season.
Wes Thomas on for Clayton Donaldson as the Brum corner is cleared.
Great choice, mate. That is why I am watching the rest of the Brummie Derby. At least there are some chances being created.
Sagbo on loan from Hull City, on for Leon Clarke as Kenny Jackett calls for change.
Ten minutes plus stoppage time remaining at Molineaux. Still 0-0 , but Wolves have been the better side.
Wes Thomas wins a free kick on a rare Brum attack.
A poor free kick from Welsh International, Dave Cotterill, was meant as a cross , but straight to the keeper.
Wes Thomas booked for a striker's challenge.
Oh - best chance of the match. Coutinho ghosts into the box and Gerrard finds him. Great save by Krul. Might have been offside anyway.
Liverpool seem to be turning the screw now. Balo with a decent cross into the danger area.
Nearly the lead for wolves . James Henry went past Brek Shea down the right . His pass deflected off of Darren Randolph's boot and Bakary Sako blasted over in front of an open goal.
Three minutes of stoppage time at Molineaux.
Looking forward to a better match at SJP.
James Henry of Wolves is down with cramp late on.
Oh - that was nasty from Janmaat on Balo. Yellow card for him.
Brum look set to get a creditable in their new manager's first match in charge.,
Great block from Paul Caddis to prevent a late Wolves winner.
This will not be a satisfying result for Wolves fans. They would have fully expected to turn the Blue Noses over at home today, especially after that 8-0 drubbing Brum got a couple of weeks back.
It finishes 0-0 at Molineaux in Gary Rowett's first match in charge .A great achievement after being hit for eight last week.
I'm back to SJP and Borini on for Joe Allen, is booed for his loan to Sunderland last season.
Borini and Balo did form a great partnership vs the Swans on Wednesday.
A bit of a contentious chin wag between Balo and Borini now. No love lost between those two Italians.
Jordan Henderson booed for the same reason as Borini was. Three ex Black Cats are playing for Pool, who must be really unpopular with the locals.
Im back after a nice long walk with Shadow
I was listening to talksports commentary
Apparently, Balo wasn't even on the pitch as the second half got underway... didn't he see what Newcastle do last week at WHL?
I'm surprised because they had a great partnership vs the Swans on Wednesday.
Where's Lambert?
Diego Costa starts for the Blues
Welcome back, UWS. Balo isn't exactly a rocket scientist.I missed that because I was watching Wolves vs Brum on BEIN.
Oh - that was a decent effort, with a knock-down by Sterling and a shot by Borini. Should have hit the target.
Lambert has been used as a late sub this season. Great news for Chelsea , who should thrash QPR.
It'll be good to get my GBB Diego Costa back in action today. Don't like Kun Aguero sniffing around looking for goals
Henderson into the book for a pull-back and he's not terribly happy about it.
Toon fans are delighted that Henderson has been booked . It was for a push on Collocini off the ball
GOAL! Ayoze Perez with his second in two matches!
GOAL... THE TOON!!!!
Perez scores scores two prem games in a row
GOAL !!! FINALLY A GOAL AS AYOZE GIVES THE TOON THE LEAD.
Terrible defending by Moreno there dithering on the ball in the area and allowing Perez to nip in and tuck home. Toon owner Mike Ashley is delighted with that one.
1-0!
Why didn't the full back kadumph it.... cuz he can't use both feet... bloody modern day professionals!
How will Liverpool respond to that blow. It drops them down to 7th and out of the European slots again.
The run from Cissoko was identical to the run he made when he scored against Citeh in midweek. This time a poor pass from him was given away by Alberto Moreno and Ayoze scored from close range.
Oh - Cabella was straight through on goal but Mignolet pulled off a wonder save.
The Toon should have two up and AYoze was clean through and shot wide with just Mignolet to beat
Newcastle now up into the top half - what a turnaround for their season. I don't know where this form has come from!
At least our 4th grade stat lives on
Correct Bob. It was Cabella and a great save by Mignolet, but he should have put the Toon two up. A horrible back pass from Henderson and a poor error from Moreno as Cabella played a nice one two with Ayoze before that shot was saved.
A new poll on the Beeb
Where will Liverpool finish in the league?
Right now it is
Top 4 8.4%
Europa League 44.9%
Other 46.9%
Lambert is on . Who went off.
A long range effort from Cabella is wide off a great cross from Ayoze Perez.
Wow
Last time Liverpool failed to score away from home was a year tomorrow!
Coutinho came off for Lambert. Uws called for that change about fifteen minutes ago.
It could be an unhappy anniversary for Liverpool. My answer to that poll is a CL spot as Danny should eventually come back from injury.
I see them in top half but out of the European spots.
I see that Redfearm signed a 12 month rolling contract to take over Leeds
Was he the bloke that played for Barnsley(I think) in the premier league?
Only a dozen second half touches Balo. He is virtually a spectator. it would help of some of them were shots on goal.
I voted Europa League... we all voted differently!!
What do we know!
Well, one of us will be right
I hope it is Bob
Yes. I think he was a striker for Barnsley during the Prem season. I hope that helps Leeds move up the table.
Me too. Pool are usually stronger the second half of the season and should improve once Sturridge is fit.
Good cross by Balo, but nobody was there to connect and Krul greatfully gathered.
Another frustrating afternoon for our favorite parrot-headed Italian.
Another poor give away by Moreno and the Toon are on a break led by Cabella , who was fouled by Loveren by the corner flag. Loveren is booked for that
Lost my SS link... bugger
The tOON KEPPING IT BY THE CORNER FLAG THEN IT'S Out for a goal kick.
A parrot would have been more of an attacking threat today.
3 added minutes
MUR is correct. Neil Redfearn did play for Barnsley in the Prem. He's been the Academy Director at Thorp Arch for LUFC for nearly a decade now - he took over from Paul Hart - and has had two stints before this time as interim manager.
I hate this corner flag crap... you are supposed to entertain too!!!
Newcastle more than hanging on here for what would be another terrific win for them.
