Quite a Big Game
So, here we go.... the battle for the city of Manchester's bragging rights. City have been in a bit of a funk this week and long may it continue. As for United, I am still not totally pleased with this lot... I don't like being thrilled by only drawing at home to Chelsea. This, of course, is an away game. United haven't won away from Old Trafford yet. They have played Sunderland, Burnley, Leicester and West Brom..... no wins! Do we have a chance at the Etihad!!

Man City v Man Utd (13:30 GMT)
There have just got to be goals in this one. Haven't there?
Man City: Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Demichelis, Kolarov, Jesus Navas, Toure, Fernando, Milner, Aguero, Jovetic. Subs: Sagna, Nasri, Dzeko, Caballero, Clichy, Fernandinho, Boyata.
Man Utd: De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Rojo, Shaw, Blind, Fellaini, Januzaj, Di Maria, van Persie, Rooney. Subs: Mata, Lindegaard, Carrick, Ander Herrera, Fletcher, McNair, Wilson.
Referee: Michael Oliver (Northumberland)
Glad to see Rafa out because he can't defend. Of course, Valencia isn't one either
Looks like Fellaini has found his niche in the line up.
I want to see Carrick get back into the team
Who will be playing in the center of the park for United with Fellaini?
Blind and who?
Is RVP alone up front and Rooney behind him?
Will United be three at the back?
I don't like that Citeh changed their main colors to all blue instead of white shorts... there is a plus.. United don't have to wear their black shorts today
Listening to Five Live and they were talking about the other match on tap today
Aston Villa vs Spurs
They were talking about Lambert and saying he isn't in trouble They have lost five straight but after their win at Anfield they have lost to Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City... QPR was the only 'bad' loss
Of course, they haven't scored in any of them... during the same time Ronaldo has scored TWENTY!!
I hope Di Maria shines today.... he's been a bit of a fringe player as of late
Good morning, UWS. I am joining you for the Manc Derby. I agree with you that Citeh are in a funk. I think we have chance.
Hi, mate. Thanks for getting us going this morning. I'm here for the classico.
The Two Robbies had to mention that Citeh have won five out of the past six matches.
Welcome Boys
Good morning Bob. It will be quite a Sunday morning.
I think that the last 21 Prem matches are 10 wins each and a draw
Ta, UWS. Due to the time change, I feel like I have slept in a little late.
I still didn't' have a lot of sleep.. I couldn't fall asleep and also woke up early!
Since we chatted yesterday I have been thinking that this match will be a draw.
Sorry to hear that. I hope a good United performance helps you sleep soundly tonight.
This week should be okay though.
I have PD on Tuesday all day but may not go... may pull a sicky! Also, Tom's semi is on Wednesday morning so I will be going to that
Would you be happy with a draw?
I just saw a link that said Pelligrini is not ruling out a Gerrard move. IS this media hype?
A draw would be a decent result away to one of the top sides and another sign that we can compete with the best teams, something that we could not do last season.
Yes. You should take the day off on Tuesday. Have a day out with the missus then enjoy some CL footie then playoff footie the following day. It will be like a mini vacation.
Kolorov limping off the pitch. Clichy should be a perfect replacement.
That's the problem... I hate being happy with a draw.
United should go out and win every game... but not with this lot
I agree with Robbie Mustoe . We are vulnerable down the flanks. Valencia and Shaw are not exactly the best defensive players
I agree with MUR - take the day for yourself on Tuesday and enjoy Tom's match the next morning.
I agree with you, but I think you would agree that that's much better than we would have done last season , then we can improve on that next season. As we say in math, one step at a time. I am confident we will get there.
Thanks boys
No plans to leave on Tuesday
Wednesday should be easy too
How about Bournemouth? Second in the Championship. Did anyone pick them for promotion?
Belgians hugging in the tunnel... get a room
I saw your text when I was out with a some friends
What did they beat Brighton by?
Just no video nasties please!
It was 3-2. It took three attempts for that text to go through. My phone was acting up yesterday.
City players are wimps... still wearing the warm ups... United already prepared to go!!
I'll snatch at anything
I'm feeling a touch under the weather this morning, so I'm enjoying a lovely Lemsip. Remember those?
A win would be a morale booster for me. I have been stressing out about our roof replacement job and I am dealing with an automobile accident. A She Devil hit from behind on the 17th,that took off my back bumper.
I sure will. I hope you feel better, mate. I agree, UWS. Eagle Eyes this morning!
We're ready to go
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
You lot should come visit me. We've had lovely weather since Friday evening. Looks set to be the same today.
Talksport has exclusive rights for this match so i am going to keep my phone going with Five Live for the chatter
We're off
They're off from the Etihad.
COME ON MAN UNITED!
COME ON MAN UNITED!
COME ON MAN UNITED!
Roon has to stay up top!
Not happy that Falcao hasn't had his run to get going at OT
Free kick chance for United...oooh Rojo with a header saved... off side
Watch the boys... you're a professional
Here we go then - the "Blue Moon" routine is over and the action starts.
Oh - and it starts quickly with Rojo in for a header from a free kick. Offside indicated.
United have a free kick from the off. Great free kick from Di Maria as Hart saved a header from fellow Argie, Rojo, but he was offside.
RVP offside
United started okay here but please know the rules
RVP is offside, but United showing more life in this derby than the entire 180 minutes last season.
An atrocious pass by Rooney
Bloody hell
They may be overly enthusiasastic. Something that was sadly lacking last season.
An equally atrocious cross by Navas.
Bloody Hell... now Smalling does a piss poor cross field ball
Did you all see my earlier comment that Pelligrini is interested in Stevie G? IS that just media hype or is there something in that?
The passing from United... PLEASE!!!
BLOODY HELL!!! Citeh were 22 points ahead of us last season. I know they won't match that this season
I saw that; I can't imagine Stevie G. playing for anyone else.
Rooney is too deep
I want to se DiM involved more
I noticed that Jerko has been dropped and been replaced by Jovetic, who had a poor match vs the Toon in midweek. That's fine with me/.
Aguerro on side has a shot well saved
Citeh are looking to win their fourth derby in a row... haven't done that since December 1970
Aguero cut inside Valencia and his shot was saved at the near post by De Gea then went down too easily as Oliver twist was having none of it.
Aguero got through there and tested Twilight.
The commentator was really dissing Jerko last week at Upton Park
I hope they don't today. Arlo too late as UWS was two minutes ahead on that comment.
Kate's comment for the morning:
"I don't like the guys in light blue; they look like little boys in pajamas."
Jan with a chance... HIT THE TARGET LAD
RVP headed down a pass from, HAir Bear and Jan snatched at a shot that went wide,.
I hope Kate's comments are true today. Well in.
Struth... DiM can't dribble and then gives the ball away!
Atrocious pass by Di MAria , but UWS will be pleased with that pass by Roon and the defending by Shaw on Aguero.
WELL DONE KATE!!!
I hope you're doing your job and teaching her some stuff
Based on the date that UWS supplied, those four losses must have ALL been when Wilf McGuiness was manager.
Based on that comment, it sounds like he is. That was an awesome comment.
When did Sir Matt retire the first time
I'm going to google it
Weren't two of those four losses in the LC semifinal shortly before he was sacked?
It was at the end of the 68-69 season.
It was Wilf
He took over in the summer of 69
Left on Dec 29 70
The derby losses were the last straw!!
Then he took over from Wilf McGuiness to finish off the 70-71 season.
Cheers, mate - I'm doing my best. We just had a lengthy conservation about the word "derby."
I think the 4-4 draw at Derby County( not a Derby) on Boxing Day his last match? That was actually a decent result at was then a good side. It must have been an accumulation of things.
Hopefully first the pronunciation!
Don't tell that fact to Kate.. she jump out of the window in confusion!!
I hope she didn't mention horse racing and used the correct pronounciation.
Decent start by United but would have wanted a goal for the ball possession
Indeed. This match is being played at a furious pace with the crowd absolutely baying. But where's the quality?
Now Blind with a hopeless pass... where's the quality
Rojo upends his compatriot and Citeh have a chance to wing this one into the box.
WOW !!!! The team that scores first has won 33 of the last 34 derbies. The last come from behind win in this derby was in 1993 when United came from two down to win 3-2.Niall Quin scored a brace for Citeh.
A wasted free kick from Citeh. More of the same please.
Arlo has been really tardy today. I mentioned Stevie G ages ago,.
i remember that game well
Keane with the winner at the back post coming in late to the box
Nice take down by Kun Aguero but the angle for the shot got more acute. Twilight did well.
And again - the new haircut is working!
Bloody Hell.. that was on side... well saved De Gea
Great long ball from Fernando to Aguero. He went past fellow Argie Rojo , but shot straight at De Gea. Then a great save by De Gea from Navas.
I have not bee happy with Jan... he has been awful
Citeh break.. well saved De Gea
Oh - huge clash between Aguero and Twilight now - both are down.
Hope he is okay
Another great save by De Gea from Aguero and both players are down. Citeh starting to take the upper hand and getting behind the fullbacks./
That was a good decision by the linesman.. he was onside
He seems okay
both players are okay , but may be in pain tomorrow.
Their most dangerous attacks have all started as United pass it to them
Roon loses the ball... but a foul called.. .not sure about that
At least that collision stopped Citeh's momentum. They were starting to dominate.
Yeah - you don't want to lose him in this kind of form.
A foul called by smalling on Jovetic.
Agreed , Bob. Then LUFC Academy Boy is miles offside.
Is Fellaini going to find his way at OT?
Arlo did mention that Di Michelis is the one player on the pitch that has played for both LVG and Pelligrini.
I think he is just starting to.
Again... poor by Jan
Milner didn't learn that at Thorp Arch.
CIty has a free kick
First card of the day... to Blind
Hit it wide please or high
Blind fouls Yaya just outside the United box and is booked for that or is Rojo booked for kicking the ball away?
Blind picks up a yellow for hacking down Yaya.
Yaya.. please nono.... over
Yaya tries his luck from distance - well over the bar.
Yaya shoots the free kick over. Just as good as being wide.
Rooney is equal to the back four... GET UP THE FIELD!!!!
If Citeh lose then they will be playing the blues!!!
Roon is busy talking his way into the book, advocating for a yellow card.
Zaba fouls RVP. He should have been booked and Roon is upset at Oliver Twist about that . He is being lectured for that.
Zab with a late tackle... no card but Wazza wanted one... Ref tells him off
Ball bounced in box!!
BUGGER
Now Smalling with a stupid yellow
He will get red card later on... what a numpty
The intelligence of these players is astonishing!!
The free kick from Di Maria is headed straight to Hart by Jan. Smalling booked for impeding Hart, but why wasn't Zaba?
Great ball in there from diMaria but no one was there to poke it in.
And Smalling gets booked for impeding Hart.
United break.. Roon's pass wasn't brilliant and DiM was hopeless
Jon Jo Shelvey was a classic numpty yesterday, proving your point.
The cross from LUFC Academy is well out . More of the same please.
BBC says that RVP has only touched the ball 8 times. The fewest of anyone out there
GET UP WITH HIM ROON
Learned that type of cross wearing all white!
Pathetic from Di Maria, whose passing has been worse than Wazza's today.
Nice one, UWS!
Wazza with more words for Oliver Twist. He's begging for a card.
Smalling with a tackle and he is off
WHAT AN ABSOLUTE IDIOT!!!
Oh dear - now Smalling is off! Second yellow - United down to ten.
DAMN IT!!!! WTH WAS SMALLING THINKING? HE'S SENT OFF FOR A SECOND YELLOW FOR AN OBVIOUS FOUL ON JOVETIC. HE SHOULD HAVE JUST LET HIM PASS.
What moron!!!
I called it
I thought it would take longer!
And a dangerous free kick now.
The free kick was just too high for Kompany and went out of play.
Oh- I thought Kompany would nod home easily there. Didn't connect with it.
I agree, UWS. What was he thinking? Oh yeah that's right, he's a moron. How do United expect to win this match?
Carrick about to come on
I would take Jan off
UWS will be pleased that Michael Carrick is coming on. I hope he takes off Jan.
RVP is so slow with the ball on that break
Aguero should be booked for diving!
Why did United kick the ball out of play? They are not obligated to.
Ags goes down
Felaini yells at him.. forget about that... go forward
It should have been pen
Fel is an idiot too
Good to see Michael back
Jan is sacrtftced.
Carrick on for Jan. Great minds think alike as both UWS and I called for Jan to come off.
Luke Shaw clears for a Citeh corner.
DON'T CONCEDE.
Great defensive header from Hear then De Gea catches the cross from Zaba who streaked easily past Valencia.
Three minutes of stoppage time.
United have had the most players sent off in 2014
Five players have been shown the red
Smalling has completely ruined this match
He should be way down on the bench from now on
United just trying to hang on to half time.
Navas wins a corner off of Shaw off a nice cross field pass. The corner from LUFC Academy is cleared. Di Michelis is called for hand ball to end an attacking threat.
All three statements are spot on.
I hope Smalling hasn't cost us this match
One more attack...Yaya breaks thru because of a useless clearance... pen.. no
Half time
Well - could have been a penalty for Citeh with Rojo taking down Yaya. But Michael Oliver blows for half time. Phew!
I thought Rojo fouled Yaya in the box and thankfully, Oliver Twist blows for halftime as it's 0-0. As I stated, I hope Smalling hasn't cost us this match
The teams are back on the pitch.
The second half is underway.
DON'T CONCEDE UNITED!!!!
We're underway again at the Etihad.
Would I be happy with a draw?
ABSOLUTELY!
Citeh predictably attack from the off. A Citeh ends with an offside flag.
United will have to defend resolutely the entire half.
Nice turn by Wazza, but useless through ball.
Back from getting dressed
Missed the first two minutes
Always a chance that United can hit Citeh on the break.
Now LUFC Academy Boy gifts us possession and United try to find RVP, or lone striker.
Zab should have hit the target!
United should not sit back
Furious action in the United half but Zaba put the shot over the top.
Zaba shoots over as United have blocked several shots.
DiM has been disappointing today
Never a pen on Hair Bear. Ball to elbow.
I agree. He needs to keep possession if we are to have any chance.
Carrick in the back four.. I always said he could be the answer
A center midfielder moving back as he gets older
Roon loses the ball and tracks Yaya and gets the tackle in but it could very easily been a rash tackle and a red
Well done, Wazza he lost the ball to Yaya then sprinted fifty yards back to make a great defensive tackle on him./
RVP fails to come back to the ball.. work harder!!!
Citeh always have a man over now.
Navas has a cross deflect off of Shaw for a corner as United were carved apart. I thought it was a fair challenge by Di Michelis.
Rojo down from the challenge by his fellow Argie, but it was a fair one in my book.
What the hell happened to Rojo.. looks like he did in his shoulder!
He will be replaced by young McNair, being thrown in the deep end in the Manc Derby.
Nasty one now for Rojo - will have to come off.
Been given oxygen!
I think it was the landing, not the challenge that did his shoulder in.
I hope he's okay. It looks really serious.
Young Paddy Boy is on. He did well in his two starts earlier this season. I hope he does the same today.
Paddy McNair - the 19th year old - comes on for him.
The corner from the LUFC Academy is off of Blind for another. A penalty would have been harsh.
United will lose another defender!!
Both center backs are off!
on comes McNair ... he did well when he played before
United survive two corners
9th central partnerships in 10 games!!!
Poor clearance by De Gea , but great tackle y Valencia on LUFC Academy Boy.
Useless pass by Yaya. I hope he does more of the same.
I think that was another pen for Citeh!
PHEW!!!! That looked a foul on Aguero in the box and his compatriot, gets in the face of the linesman and stupidly talks himself into the box.
