Election Night Special!
Evening, LOBers. It's a big, big night for our democracy, with the Senate on the line and lots of important governor's offices up for grabs. I'll be following it all for you here on the LOB. Please feel free to drop in for a chat if you're following the returns.

Evening, LOBers, I'm here manning LOB Central from The Cottage tonight. I'm plugged into PBS and MSNBC coverage as well as the Guardian live blog on-line and HuffPo polling.
Rachel Maddow and Chrissy Boy "Tweetie Bird" Matthews are helming the MSNBC coverage.
In the Senate, the most likely scenario tonight is for the control coming down to three races that may not be sorted out by the end of the evening - Georgia, Kansas and Kansas. Republicans essentially have to run the board with wins in New Hampshire and North Carolina, where the polls have them down, in order to pull off a win tonight. This may well go for weeks.
The reality that Democrats have a shot at winning tonight in NC, Georgia, Kentucky and Alaska - all states that went for Romney this past election cycle - shows that this will probably not be the big night that the GOP had hoped for.
Indiana and Kentucky polling has just closed at 6pm, the first states to wrap up. Most polls have Mitch McConnell holding a lead but not being quite there. It could take a couple of hours for this one to be called.
Steve Schmidt and Robert Gibbs are talking about how Democratic candidates for Senate in GOP states having been running away from Obama. Terrible strategy.
If Kay Hagan pulls out a close win in North Carolina tonight, she'll owe much of it to the GOTV efforts among the "Moral Monday" movement.
Polls about to close in most of the East Coast states, including North Carolina, Georgia, Florida and NH. Should be some news coming soon enough.
Early vote counts show Mitch McConnell with a 10 point lead over Allison Grimes.
And MSNBC is calling it for McConnell in the Kentucky race. Grimes really tanked it in the end by refusing to campaign with the President.
More bad news out of South Carolina. Lindsey Graham has been re-elected to the Senate. Nikki Haley has been elected to the Governor's office and Tim Scott has won the special election.
Still no news out of North Carolina, Georgia, Florida or NH.
With 25% of the votes counted, Charlie Crist has a 8 point lead. Still too tight to tell.
North Carolina's Senate race is "too close to call" at 7:30pm.
GOP pick up their first Senate seat of the night - in West VA.
And John Kasich has unfortunately won again in Ohio.
The Florida Governor's race is tightening now, with Crist only 5% up.
Really surprised that the VA race hasn't been called yet.
Things looking bad for Michelle Nunn in Georgia right now.
As usual the VA returns look scary early on with the small rural counties coming in early and then the more urban counties coming in later. I cannot believe that Ed Gillespie is going to pull this one off.
Down to 3% now in Florida - cor!
Things tightening up a bit in the Georgia race.
Chuckie Todd is saying things are trending toward Kay Hagan and Mark Warner. Phew!
Polls closing in a whole boatload of states now.
At the 8pm hour, MSNBC is projecting Republican control of the House. Big surprise. Single single losses for the Dems.
Too early to call in NH - Shaheen is up by 12% but not enough votes counted.
Ed Markey has been reelected in Mass, Dick Durbin in Illinois, Susan Collins in Maine.
Lots of incumbents being re-elected now.
Kay Hagan seems to be pulling ahead now.
Still tight as a tick in the Senate control race. GOP at 40, Dems at 39 (including the two Independents who caucus with them).
First big Democratic Governor pick up tonight - Pennsylvania. Tom Corbett is turfed out.
Jeanne Shaheen has pulled off the win against Scotty Brown - that's a huge win for the Dems tonight.
Coming up on the 10pm hour and the Republicans are still a long way off control of the Senate. They still need three more pick-ups.
Republicans pick up another seat in Montana. That's the Max Baucus seat that was just vacated.
Still a squeaker in Florida.
What the hell is going on in Virginia - how on earth is Mark Warner going to lose this one!
Hello, Robert. You watching our friend, John Dickerson, on CBS?
We had an interesting ballot cast in DC this year. Tight mayoral race. A new elected Attorney General position. And a Legalize It, Don't Criticize It initiative.
Looks like my votes for the DC Statehood Green Party candidates didn't move the needle much. And my vote for David Catania (Mayor) and Lorie Masters (AG)were votes cast for the person who didn't win. But my YES on the MJ initiative was with the 70 percent majority. So I got that going for me.
Good evening Bob and WHR. I finally got control of the computer. I have been watching the various races in my bedroom.
I think the NC race is going to be the backbreaker.
