A Battle For a European Spot and a Relegation Six Pointer Sunday Double Header
It's the typical Sunday Premier League Schedule with a 1:30 PM GMT kickoff followed by a 4 PM GMT kickoff. First, it's the Hammers vs the Swans where the winner will be in a European spot . The hammers will be in a CL spot if they win. The late match is a Midlands Derby/ relegation six pointer as inept Villa host the hapless Foxes. A Villa win actually moves them up to a mid table spot, but if the Foxes win then they will be only one point away from safety. Join me.

The Hammers vs the Swans is about to kick off at Upton Park. Andy Carroll starts up front for the Hammers .
They're off from Upton Park amidst a sea of bubbles.
The first corner of the match as Koyate wins a corner from Ki. The corner from Ten Downing Street is headed away by Ki.
Kevin Nolan shoots just wide off a pass from Private Jenkinson.
Just over a quarter of an hour has been played and the Hammers have dominated with their high pressure , high tempo game. The Hammers have two thirds of the possession, have completed more passes than the Swans ( 90 to 50 ) , and are more accurate ( 81% to 66%). The Swans have been forced out of their comfort zone.
GOAL !!!! THE SWANS TAKE THE LEAD AGIANST THE RUN OF PLAY AND WITH A TYPICAL SWANSEA GOAL. THE FIRST TIME THIS MATCH SIGGY AND MONTERO WERE ABLE TO GET ON THE BALL AS SIGGY PASSED DOWN THE LEFT TO MONTERO AND BONI FINISHED EASILY FROM CLOSE RANGE. THE FIRST TIME THIS MATCH THAT THE SWANS EVEN GOT BEHIND THE HAMMERS DEFENSE.
Moments before the goal, the Hammers nearly scored with a free kick that was a training ground routine. A long free kick from Ten Downing Street and Kevin Nolan made a nuisance of himself as Flappy punched away then Thompkins had a a close range effort blocked as the Swans frantically cleared.
Gateshead go two up against Warrington in stoppage time of an FA Cup Second Round tie.
Enner Valencia has a shot blocked off of Ashley Williams for a Hammers corner.
A nice corner from Ten Downing Street that confused Ashley Williams and went out for a goal kick since nobody could make a connection.
Siggy has a shot punched away by Adrian then blocked by Reid as the Swans caused problems for the Hammers defense again.
Gateshead are in the draw for the Third Round as they have defeated brave Warrington of the 8th tier , 2-0.
Just wide from Boni from about 25 yards out as Siggy superbly won a tackle then fed Boni. Adrian was completely beaten.
A long cross from Ten Downing Street is headed straight to Flappy by Aaron Cresswell.
Kevin Nolan has a shot blocked for a corner after a miss kick from Ashley Williams . Flappy punches away, under pressure for another corner.
GOAL !!! 1-1 AS ANDY CARROLL SCORES WITH A TYPICAL HEADER. GREAT CROSS FROM PRIVATE JENKINSON.
A great time for the Hammers to score as the former Arsenal connection paid off. Song found the Private down the right and his cross was superbly headed in the corner by Andy Carroll as he out jumped the normally reliable Ashley Williams. Flappy was rooted to the spot , but did not stand a chance against the superbly placed header. The Hammers pressure paid off and Fat Sam was delighted.
Bradford City take the lead vs Dartford in the Cup.
Two minutes of stoppage time.
It's 1-1 at the half. Anything can happen in the second half.
The second half is underway as Fat Sam has made a substitution. Sakho is on for Valencia as it's one forward for another,.
Downing wins a corner off of Rangel, headed away by Bartley.
Bradford City are now two up vs Dartford.
Routledge becomes the first payer to be booked as he fouls Winston Reid.
Kyle Bartley is down after a clash of heads with Kouyate.
Scunny take the lead vs Worcester City, who recorded a shock defeat of Northoventry in the previous round.
Eastleigh take the lead at Southport as one of those two teams could face a big club in the Third Round.
Southport tie it up vs Eastleigh in first half stoppage time.
Swansea counter and nearly score against the run of play again. Their first attack of the second half as Routledge found Boni on the break and his shot from just outside the box went off the top of the bar and out for a goal kick.
It's halftime in some FA Cup Second Round matches. Bradford City are two up vs Dartford, Scunny are one up vs Worcester City , Southport and Eastleigh are tied at one each. It's 0-0 at the half of five other matches.
GOAL !!! THE HAMMERS LEAD 2-1 AS ANDY CARROLL SCORES WITH A FREE HEADER OFF A CORNER FROM TEN DOWNING STREET. SAKHO WON IT OFF OF ANGEL RANGEL WITH A TRICKY RUN.
IT GOES FROM BAD TO WORSE FOR THE SWANS AS FLAPPY IS SENT OFF AND WRONGLY SO. HE SLIGHLTY BUMPED SAKHO, BUT HE STILL ROUND THE UNFORTUNATE KEEPER AND HAD A SHOT COME OFF THE INSIDE OF THE POST. HOW IS IS DENYING A GOAL SCORING OPPORTUNITY IF THE SHOT CAME OFF THE INSIDE OF THE POST.
Leon Britton is subbed off as Tremmel, the reserve keeper is on and Chris Foy calls it back for a free kick. Why call it back if Sakho had a shot come off the inside of the post when he waved play on? Andy Carroll wanted a penalty off the free kick for minor contact by Kyle Bartley off the free kick. Thankfully, common sense prevailed.
Looking at the replay, it now looks like the correct decision from Chris Foy. Flappy definitely obstructed Sakho and Chris Foy did immediately call for a free kick.
Gomis , a striker , on for Jefferson Montero, as the Swans are now playing with two strikers.
OH!!! OFF THE POST FROM SAKHO WITH JUST TREMMELL TO BEAT AS JEZ RICHARDS MISJUDGED A LONG BALL.
Gomis has a shot deflected for a corner.
Private Jenkinson gets a standing ovation as he is replaced by Joey O' Brien. Like for like.
Jez Richaqrds has a long throw headed out for a corner by Andy Carroll.
The corner is headed out by Song for another.
Siggy has a shot blocked for another corner.
The corner is headed away as the Swans keep possession. Kyle Bartley blasts a shot over.
Worcester City tie it up at Scunny.
James Collins is on for Kouyate.
Nathan Dyer is on for Angel Rangel.
GOAL !!! 3-1 HAMMERS. SAKHO SCORES WITH JUST TREMMELL TO BEATPURE ROUTE ONE AS ANDY CARROLL HEADED ON A LONG GOAL KICK FROM ADRIAN . THE SWANSEA DEFENSE WERE AT SIXES AND SEVENS AND SAKHO TOOK ADVANTAGE.
Jez Richards heads out a cross from Downing for a corner.
Sakho has a shot cleared off the line as Andy Carroll headed down a corner from Ten Downing Street.
Bradford City go three up vs Dartford.
Five minutes of stoppage time at Upton Park.
The Real Dons take the lead at Wycombe Wanderers.
Bradford City now four up vs Dartford.
Tremmell makes a close range reflex save from Sakho.
It's over as the Hammers win 3-1 and will be in third place until the conclusion of the Saints vs Man United.
Southort have some from behind and now lead Eastleigh 2-1. Dartford score a consolation goal as they trail Bradford City 4-1.
Morning, MUR - I'm here for the late one after a glorious lie-in to try and wipe out my cold once and for all.
Leicester about to kick off now, sitting in last place and in desperate need of a big win here at Villa Park.
They're off from Villa Park
Good morning Bob. It's great to have you on board. I wish you a speedy recovery.
Villa make a quick start with Gabby Ag swinging a nifty cross over toward Benteke who was slow out of the traps.
Some Fa Cup Second Round Finals:
Bradford City 4 Dartford 1
Scunny 1 Worcester City 1
Aldershot 0 Rochdale 0
Bristol City 1 Telford United 0
Southport 2 Eastleigh1
Cheltenham 0 Dover 1
Wycombe 0 Real Dons 1
Barnsley 0 Chester 0
Thanks, mate - a late morning of Premiership footer should do the trick.
Gabby Ag sporting a new Fu Manchu style look. And it's not Movember anymore!
So, Southport and Dover join Gateshead and Blyth Spartans as non league clubs through to the Third Round while Worcester City, Aldershot, and Chester are other non league clubs that will be in the Third Round Draw.
The biggest upset today was Dover winning at League 2 Cheltenham while conference sides Chester and Aldershot held League one sides Barnsley and Rochdale to 0-0 draws. Worcester , who dispatched Northoventry in the previous Round, drew 1-1 at Scunny.
A late Fa Cup kickoff will be an East Anglian FA Cup Derby as Colchester host Posh. Kickoff is in about twenty minutes. The Third Round draw is tomorrow , an hour before Saints vs Man United kicks off.
I'll see if I can cover that draw live, as I have a lighter than usual day.
Spot on Bob, Movember has been over for a week. Just like Villa's attack his Movember look is delayed and it showed on that horrible pass that should have given Villa the lead.
Unfortunately , I will be teaching during the draw. I don't understand why they couldn't have it today.
Oh - nice effort from Benteke on the bounce. Just wide of the mark.
OH!!!Just wide by Benetke off a long pass from Hutton. He's Villa's only real attacking threat
GOAL! Ulloa strikes after a howler and a half from Big Brad!
GOAL !!! THE FOXES TAKE THE LEAD AS ULLOA SCORES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN TEN MATCHES.
Totally against the run of play, Leicester are in the lead. How will Villa respond?
It was a rare mistake by Brad Guzan as Mayherez went on a nice solo run, cutting inside , but a routine effort was spilled by Guzan and Ulloa easily put away the rebound as the Foxes move off the foot of the table.
Correct . Wasn't that the Foxes first shot of the match?
If you let a Fox lap up a soft serve vanilla ice cream then he will inevitably score.
Free kick to the soft serve vanillas.
GOAL !!! 1-1 CIERAN CLARK HEADS IN A FREE KICK FROM ASHLEY WESTWOOD.
GOAL! Villa are straight back in it. From the free kick, Kieran Clark with a stooping header.
1-1!
So much for that philosophy. The Foxes lead lasted all of four minutes against the lowest scoring team in the Football League. Now we know why they're bottom.
The latest out of Blighty is that the Foxes choked on a some vanilla ice cream.
Mayherez goes on another sol run, but this time Guzan holds on to a similar effort that he spilled for the goal.
Beneteke heads wide off a cross from Clever Boy, but was flagged offside.
Oh - Benteke should have done better with that cross, even if he was ruled offside.
A close call for Villa as Agbon coughed up the ball and a long ball from Cambiasso found Jamie Vardy, who tried to round Guzan , who just about saved it at his feet.
Now Guzan nearly gives away a penalty - he should consider going back to bed - this day is not going well for him.
I wonder what you make of this as it's the Vanillas hosting the Crips. Not real savory contest up to this point.
I thought it was a penalty and a sending off for Guzan . He got away with one there. Perhaps he has the same cold you do.
I'm not sure that would be a tasty flavor of Walker's.
Benteke is offside again - could be a running joke this evening.
Schlupp fizzes one just wide. Is it just me or does he not really look like a Schlupp?
Vardy with a crippling tackle on Westwood - yellow for him.
Westwood is replaced by Kieran Richardson.
Not good news for the Foxes as Leonardo Ulloa hobbles off - they're very dependent on him for goals.
Half-time - All square at Villa Park as the players troop off.
It's 1-1 at the half of a hard fought Midlands relegation six pointer. Lots of commitment and little quality
My apologies for being off for a few minutes . I was on the phone with mum.
The second half is underway as David Nugent is on for the injured Leo Ulloa.
In other words, another half between these inept sides.
Not So Clever Boy is showing why LVG sent him out on loan as he shoots woefully wide with just Kasper to beat.
No worries, mate - how's your mum?
Sissoko crosses straight to Kasper. Just like the first half, lots of Villa position , but toothless in attack.
A great break by the Foxes as DEavid Nugent does well to find Schlupp, whose shot nearly clears the Holte Ende
Agbob uses his pace to get down the left and puts in a decent cross that Kapser bravely pushes away. The corner was cleared.
Hello Bob. She is doing well. Thanks for asking.
Oh - Benteke was straight through on goal but Kasper did well.
OH!!!! Beneteke, uncharacteristically , misses a sitter. He was superbly out through by Kieran Richardson, as for once, he stayed onside, but shot wide of the on rushing Kasper.
If the Foxes get relegated, they cannot blame Kasper. He's been excellent this season.
Now Clev plays Gabby Ag through on goal but Schmeichel does well again.
Kasper does well to push out a cross from Gabby.
For once, it was a good pass from Clever Boy.
I just posted a picture on FB of Sparky and Fred sleeping together. I think you will like it.
Cambiasso takes one for the team - that's an old school Argy cynical tug on the shirt, deserving of a yellow.
Cambiasso booked for pulling back Agbon on the break as he takes one for the team.Wily by the veteran
An hour in now and time for some changes. Paul Lambert is rolling the dice with 19 year old striker Jack Grealish.
Schlupp is booked for a rash foul on Hutton .
The cards are flowing quickly now - Schlupp into the book for a slide on Hutton.
He's a graduate of the Villa academy and a local boy.
Grealish on for Clever Boy, who is running off gingerly. Did he pick up a knock. Like for like.
Did you get a chance to see my post on FB?
It's 0-0 at the half between Colchester and Posh in the Cup.
No - I'll have a look now.
The pass from Grealish to Cissokho was a little short, but Villa won a corner. A decent one from Grealish, but headed away.
Sparky and Fred resting? Very cute.
Cheers mate.
Ta, mate. They are getting along right now.
Chris Wood, the Kiwi, on for Jamie Vardy, who is on a yellow. The starting strikers for the Foxes are both off.
A draw doesn't really help either team. The Foxes will stay bottom and Villa will remain unchanged, but I guess one point further away from the drop zone.
Oh - Nugent tries a pop from distance on the volley but Big Brad tips over.
Guzan does well to push over shot from Nugent off a long ball from Cambiasso.
A decent corner from James , but Wes Morgan failed to make contact at the far post.
With Ulloa coming in as Leicester's starting striker, David Nugent has been shoved aside a bit this season. That's a shame given that his goals were key to their promotion last season.
Nugent has really injected some energy into the proceedings.
GOAL! And it's the most unlikely of goalscorers - Alan Hutton!
GOAL !!! 2-1 VILLA AS ALAN HUTTON SCORES A RARE, BUT VITAL GOAL. GREAT RUN DOWN THE LEFT BY AGBON, WHO FOUND BENETEKE AND HIS SUPERB CROSS FOUND THE UNMARKED HUTTON AT THE FAR POST WHO SHOT POST GUZAN AT HIS NEAR POST.
The Foxes win a corner.
Wasilewski has been booked for the Foxes. The corner from Mayherez is headed away
Carlos Sanchez is booked for tripping Schlupp just outside the box.
A horrific free kick from James that is a complete and utter waste. Leo Bacuna is on for N'Zogbia.
Oh - great save by Schmeichel from Benteke.
And again from Schmeichel. He's saving Leicester further embarrassment here.
Kapser superbly turns around a close range header from Benetke off a great cross from Grealish. Kasper superbly saves again off the corner. This time a header from Ron Vlaar.
This is only the second time that Villa have scored more than once in a match/ Villa have finally found a team they can dominate.
Villa old boy Mark Albrighton coming on for Leicester now to a nice ovation.
Classy by the fans at the Holte End as former Villa player, Marc Albrighton, is on for the Foxes.
Oh dear - that's nasty between Konchesky and Hutton. What will the ref do?
Alan Hutton appears to head butt Konchesky as both players get into it. Actually it's Koncshesky that is sent off. How about Hutton?
Konchesky sees red! What about Hutton? Yellow.
So Leicester are down to ten men now and probably without a hope.
Hutton gets a yellow. How did one get sent off and the other booked. I guess it was the foul by Konchesky and getting in the player's face, but Hutton should have been sent off for the push.
Correct . The Foxes had a difficult time with eleven men, let alone ten. I don't see a way back for them in a season that has gone horribly wrong for them.
The ten men win a corner taken by Cambiasso and headed out for another. The second one is headed out and Guzan does well to catch a cross under considerable pressure.
Villa break quickly but just can't get it past Schmeichel.
Grealish has a shot superbly blocked then another superb save by Kasper , but the offside flag is raised.
A miserable week for the Foxes as Wes Morgan was sent off against Pool on Tuesday and what looks to be yet another defeat. An excellent week for Villa as they get two straight wins against fellow strugglers and are actually now in a mid table position.
Route One time now for Leicester.
I would have to make Nigel Pearson the favorite to win the sack race. I don't see the Foxes next win anywhere on the horizon and they have some decent players.
A superb tackle by James on Richardson on a Villa counter to prevent an increased lead.
Cambiasso tries the extravagant and misses.
Well wide by Cambiasso with a bicycle kick.
Are we blogging the MLS Cup Final today involving your Revs?
Naughty by Agbon on Wasilewski and booked for that
Four minutes of stoppage time and no sign of Desmond.
Sorry, mate - I probably won't have a chance today.
Into stoppage time.
No probs. I will be routing for the Revs .
The Foxes have two draws and eight losses in their last ten Prem matches.
Oh - Wood had a chance to level it but he thumped it well wide.
OH!!! Just wide by Chris Wood as the Foxes go route one and that may do it.
I'll probably DVR it and watch later. It's a busy weekend, with only a couple of weeks left of the semester now.
Fireworks in the second city as Villa are about to win back to back matches and they do as they defeat the toothless Foxes 2-1.
A long conversation between Paul Lambert and Nigel Pearson. I wonder if it's about the incident between Hutton and Konchesky.
That's that now - Villa end up victorious and rise to mid-table. Leicester are down in the dumps and will probably be bottom at Christmas.
No probs mate. I completely understand.
GO REVS.
I expect Nigel Pearson to win the sack race. The Foxes need a change.
I should be around for the second half of Saints vs Man United. I will DVR just in case something comes up at work
It was great chatting with you. I will try to be around tomorrow.
CHEERS!
