Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The team news today:
Arsenal: Ospina, Bellerín, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Coquelin, Ramsey, Walcott, Cazorla, Özil , Giroud. Subs: Szczesny, Gibbs, Gabriel, Chambers, Flamini, Rosicky, Akpom.
Aston Villa: Guzan, Hutton, Okore, Clark, Richardson, Sánchez, Delph, Cleverley, Weimann, Gil, Benteke. Subs: Given, Baker, Bacuna, Sinclair, Agbonlahor, Westwood, Cissokho.
Referee: Anthony Taylor
Well, that was simple enough, wasn't it? After early scares involving Theo Walcott, a simple ball was linked through to Giroud, who dinked it into the corner.
1-0 Gunners!
Arsenal are all over Villa now - its a shocking defensive show from the Midlands side.
Arsenal's new signing Gabriel is shown on the bench next to an Arsene Wenger who has managed the zip on his long blue jacket today.
Villa seem to have settled into something of a rhythm now but it'll be a climb back into this one.
Good morning Bob. Absolutely. The Gunners are one up as Giroud scored with a nice finish past Guzan. They could have easily been three up
Villa have a terrible scoring record in the Premiership this season, even at home, so this will be a tough one for them to get back into. Arsenal are in full party mood this morning.
Morning, MUR - thanks for joining me!
Gooner, dad, Melanie, Eric, and Simon should each celebrate with a vanilla ice cream cone for a victory over Aston Vanilla.
You're right - the Gunners could easily be three up.
My pleasure, mate. Vanilla don't just have a poor scoring record in the Prem, but my understanding is that they're the lowest scoring team in the top seven divisions!
A soft serve may be better because Aston Vanilla have a very soft centre.
A correction is that Aguero did not score. His shot was deflected in by Silva, who was credited with the goal. You should be pleased.
For a vanilla side, it's a rocky road for them this morning.
I'm thrilled to hear that - Costa winning the GB is one of my key strategies to bringing home the Shield this season.
Oh - off the ball from Caz!
And Caz gets the White Stripes treatment from the Emirates faithful for that effort.
Caz got past Okore and his shot came off the Sunday roast
ON A SUNDAY!
Agreed , Bob. You need some points in the cups as well because it's close enough for someone to pip you t the end.
I'm hoping to avoid relegation to the Championship.I'm already out of the FA Cup. Just the CL and EL and I'm not counting my chickens there.,
Ozil scores , but it's disallowed. The soft serves were fortunate as he was well onside.
An Old Firm Derby for the first time in three seasons as Celtic have an early lead in the Scottish League Cup semi.
Celtic are now two up. Leigh Griffiths and Kris Commons with the goals.
It's going to be a nail biter in the PPP for sure, but I think that if I've got Chelsea winning the title and Diego Costa winning the GB, that gives me a real fighting chance. I've still got Spurs in the League Cup.
Ozil needs a goal to improve his confidence level.
I cannot believe that Paul Lambert is trying to build his side around Fab Delph at skipper. He's just got a new four year contract. I love Fab, as he's an LUFC Academy product, but I never thought he was better than a journeyman Premiership footballer.
Another great hit from Ramsey that is beaten away by big Brad.
Guzan beats away a shot from Ramsey as the vanillas were torn apart again
Ramsey wins a corner off of Delph
I think Delph is better than that. He had a great season last year and even made an England debut. He should be playing for mid table Prem year in and year out. There's enough in this team where they should be mid table with halfway decent coach and they shouldn't be the lowest scorers in the top seven divisions. Again , they should be mid table in that category
Crikey - Scott Sinclair was a Citeh player? I don't remember him playing for him at all!
My GBB got on the score sheet yesterday. I think that was his second of the season, so a goal and a half a game the rest of the season should get me points in that category.
The lanky Giroud is down off a challenge from the muscular Okore.
I'm okay with him playing regularly for Villa but I don't want Fab Delph anywhere near the England squad again.
With the signing of Boni, there wasn't even a spot for Sinclair on the bench. He made a few appearances of the bench , but that was about it.
I finally bit the bullet and ordered a new iPhone 6 the other day. Your thoughts?
A break for Arsenal after a great save by Ospina. A great tackle by Kieran Richardson on Theo to prevent another goal from the Gunnrs.
Well done mate. Elizabeth has one and says to download itunes becuase it will bve beneficial.
Agreed about Delph. That sounds about right. Still they should be mid table with the players they have. a minute of stoppage time
Coq Au Vin called for a foul on Gil
Kos heads out the free kick from Gil for a corner.
Nothing comes of the corner and the Gunners are one up at the half. Gooners will wonder why it isn't so much more.
That's the half-time whistle. Villa are only one down so theoretically they're still in it but realistically their scoring record doesn't bode well for them in the second half. Arsenal in control at the interval.
1-0!
The second half is underway from the Em.
Just wide by Beneteke off pass from Weimann and the other than the Weimann header, that was the best chance of a Villa goal
We're back on at the Emirates now for the second half. Which way back for Villa?
Richardson wins a corner with a miss hit pass. A waste of a pass.
The most interesting name in the big match yesterday. That has to go to Chelsea youngster,Ruben Loftus-Cheek. A cheeky name and named after the stadium of a local rival. Poor form that.
Thanks for the iTunes tip, mate. Just so you know, you'll be receiving a Save the Date for the wedding nuptials in Richmond in the summer shortly. Hope you and Elizabeth can make it.
A great cross by Richardson, but poor timing by Beneteke as he heads well wide.,
Yes. We will definitely be there. Should we book the flight for DC or Richmond?
Probably Richmond will be the more convenient one for you. The venue is very close to the airport.
Villa have gone nearly ten hours without a Prem goal. As we used to say, you can let them play all day and all night and they still won't manage a goal.
Thanks for the tip, mate.
Arsenal in full flow again but no end product this time.
Wenger will not be happy if Villa break their deadlock here at the Em.
GOAL! Ozil is back in business!
GOAL !!!! UNLIKE VANILLA, BEAKER ENDS HIS SCORING DROUGHT AND A COOL FINISH AT THAT
Great move from the Gunners there ending with Ozil scuffing his shot right into the corner.
Yellow for Kieran Clark there. Really took Theo out.
It was a really simple goal . Richardson stumbled and lost possession. Theo found Giroud, who turned provider as he threaded a pass through the soft centre and the Beaker shot past Guzan in the corner.
Who will Woy and the Neville be watching this afternoon? No Gibbs today for the Gunners so it's only Theo on display. And beyond Kieran Richardson and Fab Delph, there are no Englishmen on the Villa side. I suspect they just wanted the free tickets.
I guess Villa wouldn't even score if they played all day and all night. Sound about right?
I guess Theo and Gibbs. He will want to see if Theo is up to scratch. He shouldn't be considering the vanillas unless it's a soft serve or a cone.
Delph shoots and it went wide. Why did Ospina need to get a touch . A needless corner that is headed away by the Nacho. It doesn't go with vanilla.
GOAL !!!! 3-0 GUNNERS AND THEO IS BACK IN BUSINESS. WOY WILL BE IMPRESSED.
I know it's cliche, but another simple goal. A throw from Ospina found Theo , who played a one two with Giroud then sidestepped Hutton, who like Nutton. Then finished past Guzan
Too little , too late as Paul Lambert makes a double switcheroo and it's like for like.Scott Sinclair on for a Villa debut along with Gaby , who seems to have put on quite a bit of weight. Off is Not so Clever Boy and Weimann.
Carles Gil booked for foul on compatriot , Caz, who was caught on his heel.
OH!!! Nearly four as the free kick from Caz was headed off the top of the bar by Giroud.
A double switcheroo from Wenger. Rosicky for Theo and Akpom for Giroud.
Bob will be interested to observe that there was a reason for getting rid of Not so Clever Boy. I'm sure Woy was not impressed. A chance for a move to Villa Park for Phil Jones?
Bellerin tackles Scott Sinclair for a corner.
Akpom hoofs away the corner from Sinclair as Carlos Sanchez mistimed his jump.
PENALTY !!!! AKPOM ACTUALLY GOT A POOR TOUCH ON A THROUGH BALL AND IT WAS HARMLESSLY HEADED OUT OF PLAY BUT GUZAN FOUND THE NEED TO TRIP HIM.
GOAL!!! CAZ MAKES IT 4-0AS HE RIFLES IT DOWN THE MIDDLE AND GUZAN HILARIUOSLY PUSHES IT INTO THE NET.
A meaningless final roll of the dice from Paul Lambert as Ashley Westwood is on for Carlos Sanchez.
The final roll of the dice from Arsene as Flamini is on for Ramsey as the Gunners shut up shop. This one is done and dusted.,
Now ten hours since Villa have scored in the Prem. AWFUL!
Rosicky fouls Carles Gil from about 30 yards out.
Carles Gil takes and it's curled harmlessly wide.
Cieran Clark clears a pass away for a corner to prevent a Gunners fifth.
Clark heads away the corner and Akpom plays it wide to Nacho , who puts in a tasty cross and a decent header from Akpom is plucked out of the air by Guzan
Ozil took too many touches as he should have shot then Nacho has a shot blocked for a corner taken short.
westwood tackles Caxz for a corner off a run and pass from Belelrin
About to enter stoppage time. I'm sure the vanillas would take the final whistle now.
Three minutes of stoppage time.
Akpom should have scored as Caz played him through, but his shot lacked power and was easily saved by Guzan
GOAL!!! 5-0 GUNNERS AS IT'S A SPANISH CONNECTION. CAZ PAST TO BELLERIN, WHO PASSED IT INTO THE BACK OF THE NET FROM THE d. HIS FIRST FOR THE GUNNERS?
Agreat save by Ospina from a long range effort by westwood.
Blimey - even Bellerin has got in on the action - and Arsenal have hit Villa for 5!
Ospina gathers the corner and that's that as the Gunners thrash the vanillas 5-0.
I'm signing off for today to make breakfast for Katie. I'll check in with you tomorrow.
They're off from St. Mary's
Cheers Bob. Have a great day. It was great chatting with you. Have a great rest of the day
