The Toffees vs the Baggies
I called in to spend the day with my girls, who are off today. we are back from a family outing and ready for a Monday night football match . It's the Toffees vs the Baggies . A draw doesn't help either team. The winner moves up to a mid table position while the loser gets sucked into a relegation battle. The Baggies should be more organized since they hired Tony Pulis while the Toffees are called the Toffees because ???? Well they have a soft centre. we shall see what gives.

The Toffees have won one of their last nine matches. The main news for the Baggies is that it's a return to Goodison for Victor Anichebe and Lescott while Berahino is banned from driving for a year for a DWI. The Toffees need to be more solid in defense.
They're off from Goodison Park.
Tonu Pulis is in the shell suit and baseball cap on a chilly evening. Advantage Baggies.
Everton need this win today. The West Ham tie was encouraging, let's see if they can build on that.
Baines shoots straight at Foster from long range. The Toffees have dominated early doors while the Baggies are sitting back.
Good afternoon Someone. It's been a good start. The Toffees need to work on being more solid at the back. If they do then everything should fall into place.
They've had a few chances from distance, but Everton have to get a bit closer to allow Lukaku to get involved.
A reckless challenge from behind by Craig Gardener on Ross Barkley. I'm surprised it was a lecture instead of a booking.
They will have to be patient to break apart a typically well organized Tony Pulis coached team.
I think I may need to brew a strong pout of Java this one is about to put me to sleep like everybody else in the house.
Baines goes on a solo run and is fouled about 25 yards out by Yacoub
Not much happening here besides coma.
Free kick to Everton in a dangerous area that Foster makes a save on.
Mirallis curls it around the wall, but Foster is well positioned and easily gathers it.
Corner to Everton that is played short then offsides. Wasted.
A long Everton possession and a long range effort from Besic is deflected for a corner. A bloody waste of a corner as Baines takes it short and the offside flag is immediately raised.
Craig Gardener is offside , but Joel Robles does well to block . Nice cross.
The Toffees have 78% of the possession, which signifies Pubis's tactics as much as anything else.
Besic has a long range effort heading harmlessly wide , but it took a wicked deflection off of Naismith and wasn't far over. It all stemmed from Wisdom, who looked none too wise with that clearance and is the weak link in the Pubis scheme this match
Everton unable to complete passes or get a shot off. Barkley has no confidence and Naismith is way out of touch.
Gardener completely whiffed on a chance on net. Weak and wide.
Some crowd scenes for a new Sly Stallone movie will be filmed at the half. That will probably be more entertaining than anything we've seen so far.
Penalty to Everton. Lescott got the ball with his arm in the box. Clear penalty.
Mirallas taking the penalty instead of Baines.
And he cocks it up....
PENALTY TOFFEES DUE TO A FOOLISH HAND BALL BY LESCOTT. COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY.
BLOODY NORAH!
THE PENALTY FROM MIRALLIS WA MILES WIDE. DANNY MILLS ASKS WHY BAINES DIDN'T TAKE. I HAVE THE SAME QUESTION
Sorry Someone. That was an excellent chance . Cursing in the streets of Columbus, Ohio?
Too many questions Everton. Too many.
It's 0-0 at the half of this snoozer. The best chance was a penalty for the Toffees a few minutes ago that was gifted to them by former Toffee, Lescott, but Mirallis shanked it miles wide.
The second half is underway
Oh boy. Mirallas subbed out for Orviedo at the half. Getting ugly in that locker room.
Bryan Oviedo is on for Mirallis, who has paid the price for that missed penalty. I wonder if he took the penalty without permission and received the hairdryer treatment from Roberto at the half.
Going to be an interesting post match interview.
Gareth Barry shows why he's the most booked player in the history of the Premier League as he fouls Berahino on the break. That's number 102 for Barry
The Baggies first corner of the match is headed away
It would seem that way. Martinez made the right move if so.
It should be. Whether Roberto tells , the truth , the whole truth , and nothing but the truth will be a matter of interpretation.
I agree. Roberto needs to send a message and he did so loud and clear.
Bryan Oviedo is booked for a nasty foul from behind on Craig Gardener.
Wisdom looks none too Wise as he took a Chunk out with that foul. The free kick is cleared as the Toffees maintain possession.
Besic with a curling effort easily caught by Foster
Besic showing more offense than most of the team today, which is not good.
Naismith once again heavy on the passing. There is no playmaker on this team, especially with Eto'o headed to Italy.
Jim Morrison is booked for a foul on Barry about a yard outside the box. He looked more like Toni Morrison there.
Lescott falls, the ball gets to Barry in the skirmish. Morrison pulls him down just outside the box and gets booked.
Barkley taking this free kick instead of the usual by Mirallas 0 and gets the corner, which is cleared by West Brom.
Ross Barkley has the free kick deflected for a corner taken by Baines and headed on by Jags and Barry before being cleared.
Coleman Mustard has a cross cleared by Mrs. Baird's Bread for a corner.
Pulis already playing for the draw.
Yacoub and Naismith lectured. Yacoub caught Naismith on the head, but Naismith made it look worse than it was. The corner is cleared.
I agree with both your statements. Pulis has been playing for a draw the entire match, but I wonder if he senses that he can catch your Toffees on the break.
Lescoot clears from the Chunk for a corner.
Baines takes and Brunt heads away. The Toffees get it back. Besic has a shot deflected for another corner.
Baines takes and it's headed away by Anichebe, the first man.
Besic with another shot that deflects for a corner. They're trying to put the pressure on but unable to test Foster.
Pulis makes a change as Jim Morrison can hum a tune while he's replaced by Sess.
I agree with you about the play maker, but not Eto'o. He's a striker that hasn't panned out and seemingly is on his way to Serie A. I was thinking more of Ross Barkley, who had quite a season last season and hasn't been quite the same this season.
This match reminds of United vs the Saints last weekend when neither team looked like scoring then the Saints got one out of nothing to win. I hope the same doesn't happen to the Toffees.
Barkley was hurt early and has not regained his stride and is sorely lacking confidence. This match is dreadful.
The Chunk sure didn't act like one there when he was offside due to laziness.
It's obvious what Pubis is thinking as he replace Berahino with Dorrans.
I agree . This one has been horrible.
A shot from Besic is deflected wide for a corner. It wasn't too far wide.
Besic with another shot that forces a corner that West Brom takes care of.
Jags heads on the corner from Baines then it is hoofed away by Pubis's pawns.
Oviedo with a poor cross to the keeper that had the appearance of someone who had been drinking too many Fosters the night before.
Is Barry doing things at his own pace Martin Tyler's way of saying he's as slow as a snail?
Couple of nice passes strung together that Lukaku could not put in. Better from Everton
The Chunk is wide open , but shoots well wide as Barkley found Naismith , who laid it on a plate , so the Chunk could shoot wide like his fellow Belgian waffle.
Besic booked for a foul on Sess. That seemed a soft yellow.
Sess is down receiving treatment off that challenge.
Besic carded for pulling down Sessengnon. West Brom making their third sub, looks like we're not seeing Samaras today.
Kone coming on for Besic, and the crowd at Goodison does not approve the removal of who has probably been the best player on the pitch for the home team.
One Nigerian striker for another as Brown Ideye replaces Anichebe on his return to Goodison while Boos ring around as Arouna Kone is on for Besic. The Everton fans didn't want Besic replaced.
Kone was brought on to score and instead has been playing useless pass from out wide.
Barkley unable and unwilling to pull the trigger.
Orviedo with a high cross that Foster picks out of the air.
Weak effort despite the high possession time.
I should have watched Broadchurch.
I was thinking something similar.
Andre Wisdom foolishly booked for a foul on Baines. A dreadful free kick from Baines is cleared. Four minutes of stoppage time.
Horrible free kick by Baines. The lack of urgency is contagious.
The booking was for Dorrans, not wisdom.
Yacoub heads out a cross from Coleman for a late corner.
Foster easily catches the corner from Baines and that should do it and it does as it finishes 0-0.
Last corner for Everton as they put the pressure on. That Foster takes easily.
Match over. Horrible point.
One positive: clean sheet for Robles. Did he even face a shot?
Sorry about the result and the performance, but it was great enjoying the pleasure of your company. Enjoy the rest of the day.
CHEERS!
That is true. At least they got a clean sheet. Your Toffees will be off this weekend, so that will give them a chance to work some things out on the training ground as well as changing some attitudes.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
You do the same.
Thanks for keeping the home fires burning this afternoon, chaps. I'm sorry that I didn't have a chance to join you, as I was deep in some plumbing issues. Got those resolved and happy to get it done before heading back to work tomorrow.
