The Highs and Lows of Football
Join me this morning as we sort out a few more of the puzzle pieces in the Premiership season. First up is QPR's visit to Citeh. We all remember what happened last time around. This time, QPR need a win to survive. That's followed by Chelsea v. Liverpool. The Reds need a result in order to stay in contention for a Champions League spot. Should be an absorbing morning. Join me?

The teams for this afternoon's match:
Man City: Hart, Zabaleta, Mangala, Demichelis, Kolarov, Fernando, Fernandinho, Milner, Lampard, Silva, Aguero.
Subs: Sagna, Kompany, Dzeko, Caballero, Bony, Jesus Navas, Toure.
QPR: Green, Caulker, Dunne, Hill, Phillips, Barton, Henry, Yun, Fer, Austin, Zamora. Subs: Wright-Phillips, McCarthy, Kranjcar, Hoilett, Furlong, Grego-Cox, Comley.
Referee: Mike Dean (Wirral)
QPR kick us off wearing their change kit of black and red.
Good morning mate. They're off from the Etihad.
The Little Neviller alongside Jon Champion on the mics today.
COME ON YOU WEST LONDON CLUBS!
Morning, MUR - how was your Saturday?
It's Mother's Day and this is the perfect match for the occasion as QPR are captained by Joey Barton, who is a real mother
Rob Green blocks a close range effort from Aguero after a horrible error from Fer.
Oh - Citeh broke quickly and Silva claimed a handball in the QPR area - nothing doing from Mike Dean.
Then Citeh win a corner.
Fer can't be doing that if QPR are to survive today.
A poor corner from Kolorov is cleared by Fer.
GOAL! Aguero dances through the QPR defense and scores!
1-0 Citeh!
GOAL !!! AGUERO GIVES CITEH AN EARLY LEAD.JUST FOUR MINUTES IN.
QPR are behind after only four minutes - one nail in the coffin. That was suicidal defending.
Citeh romping through the QPR defense again.
Clint Hill and Richard Dunne having a "discussion" on the pitch about that goal now.
QPR looking like a team that is going down. It was an Argie combo and the QPR defense combined by doing the Tango as Aguero got a pass from Zaba and went too easily past Richard Dunne then Matty Phillips and Steven Caulker looked like a bunch of clowns , trying to stop Aguero, who shot past the helpless Rob Green
I agree - I can't see QPR surviving now.
It is an unhappy return to the Etihad for Joey Barton, who publicly criticized his teammates and Richard Dunne, who has not Dunne well.
The last time Joey Barton played here, he was sent off in disgraceful circumstances. Citeh defeated QPR in dramatic circumstances a few years ago to snatch the title from us. We can count on QPR
The Little Neviller is picking through the bones of this side to see who would want whom. I'd have Stephen Caulker. He didn't look so clever on that goal but I think he'd be a useful addition at the Elland.
PNE are two up vs Chesterfield in the second half and three up on aggg. They seem headed to Wembeley. Bob will not be pleased.
Oh - Zaba was in there fortunately and wasted the chance to slide a pass along the six yard box.
I think he would be a good addition . His form has dipped since he was talked about as a future England international. He could solidify your back four and that may be enough to lead Leeds to the promised land and revive Caulker's career.
Great tackle by Clint Hill on Milner.
Superb last ditch tackle by Dunne on Milner for a corner. Well Dunne,.
Sorry about thew result yestserday
Auger just a fraction offside there as he was played in.
Oh - and Milner had a chance at the backpost.
Sorry about not answering your question. It was an extremeley busy day. The orientation ended at 2 then I tutored for two hours. When I came home the girls and I went grocery shopping and went for a Mother's Day gift. The I watched three hours worth of matches that I DVRed. How was your day yesterday
Richard Dunne has a header deflected for a corner off a free kick from Dunne as Hart was caught out. Great combo by the ex Citeh players
Oh - Austin rocketed a shot off the bar but he was ruled for a foul regardless. Better from QPR though. A glimmer of hope, perhaps.
Charlie Austin had a shot crash off the bar , but was called for a foul on Kolorov. An easy decision for the ref.
Oh - now Austin heads home but again he's ruled offside. Shame - that would have been a nice goal.
Charlie Austin has a goal disallowed for offside off a great cross from the left. It was a great header, but he was a few yards off.
Austin will surely end up at another Premiership club next season - any predictions?
I'm hoping QPR will win because that would help us finish third and not have to play an awkward qualifier in August
This match has a nice open feel to it now. There could be plenty of goals. Neither side seems to be feeling any real pressure.
I agree. I'm guessing one of the clubs in the lower half of the table.
You could still have that if Arsenal stumble on their run in, right?
Did you see how my Saturday was?
Back from a short trip to the bog and I'm pleased to say that I did NOT miss a goal.
Sorry, I've just gone back and read it. Sounds like you had a good 'un. We were down at some outlet malls in Western PA with friends, picking up some wedding duds.
SWP , who rarely plays any more, gets a warm greeting as he warms up.
I hope it was productive and hope you are enjoying what finally seems like some great weather.
Apparently, Milner has a wobbly tummy and needs a Tums.
BLOODY HELL! TUMS needed for Milner. They didn't teach fitness at the LUFC Academy?
Oh - Green nearly dropped one in his own net. Mike Dean bailed him out.
Milner is called for a foul on Green, who was attempting to gather a deflected cross from Kolorov.
A naughty comment from Yours Truly.
A naughty comment from Yours Truly.
Definitely not Well Dunne as he fouls Aguero just outside the D.
Richard Dunne upends Aguero and sets up a free kick chance.
GOAL! Kolarov takes and scores past Rob Green in the left corner. The wall broke.
2-0!
GOAL !!! 2-0 CITEH AS KOLOROV SCORES WITH A GREAT CURLING FREE KICK. A POOR WALL AND KOLOROV TOOK ADVANTAGE AS HE PUT IT THROUGH A GAP IN THE WALL. BOBBY ZAMORA IS THE CULPABLE ONE.
QPR are being relegated in disgrace.
Zamora with a volley chance - just side footed out of play.
PNE are smoking the opposition as they go three up and 4-0 on agg vs Chesterfield with about two minutes remaining. Ridsdale's evil minions will probably face Swindon in the L1 playoff final.
Will Pellegrini keep his job if Citeh place second or third?
Great save by Green to push a shot from Aguero around the post as he got behind the defense. Great pass from Silva.
Some people say it has already been decided that Pelligrini will be sacked at the end of the season regardless of the final results. I'm thinking that
Oh - Leroy Fer chipped one onto the bar and then Zamora nodded into Hart's arms. Should have scored.
Interesting - who do you imagine coming in. Klippity Klopp?
OH!!!! how did Fer miss that ? He headed off the bar from a free kick and Bobby Zamora headed the rebound straight to Hart when he normally tucks those away. QPR cannot afford to miss those opportunities.
PNE have defeated Chesterfield 3-0 and 4-0 on agg. Sorry Bob. Hopefully, Evil Ridsdale's side will lose on the L1 playoff Final.
Klopp has had a poor season. Soccernet claims that Pep is the favorite, but I'm sure other candidates will emerge.
Austin in again but offside again. He's drifted offside too often today.
Charlie Austin is offside yet again. he wasn't far ff with the effort, but was with his positioning.
Why would Pep leave Bayern for this lot?
Yaya can't have his cake and eat it too! what a prod!
A minute of stoppage time.
The German media is claiming that Pep will be sacked at the end of this season for Bayern's failure to reach the CL Final.
Citeh are two up at the half and QPR are 45 minutes away from the final nail being put in their coffin.
I'm off to fix Yaya some birthday brekkies. Back for the second half.
Cheers mate.
The second half is underway from the Etihad.
Did you hear that , Bob? The Little Neviller confirmed what I said about Pep.
Zaba heads out a cross from Matty Phillips for a corner as a long throw was headed on.
GOAL !!!! THE FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN AS CITEH GO THREE UP IN A COMEDY OF ERRORS AS THEY COUNTERED OFF THE CORNER FROM JOEY BARTON.
I'm back from cooking Yaya's brekkies to see Aguero slot home his 24th of the season. It's official - he'll be GB and QPR are going down, down, down.
The corer from Barton was headed out to Silva and Yun took his eye off the ball as the pass from Silva came off his hell and found Aguero all alone fifty yards from goal. He ran that length and picked his spot past Rob Green
You're absolutely right, mate. Not only was the Little Neviller talking about it. So were the 606 crew from yesterday's pod who I was listening to in the kitchen.
Junior Hoilett, the Canuck, is on for Bobby Zamora.
Kolorov fouls Charlie Austin
I hope you are cooking better than QPR. Whatever they are fixing is a recipe for disaster!
Looks as if Citeh are going to win the GD competition among the CL qualifiers, unless Arsenal run riot over Swansea tomorrow.
The QPR souffle has certain fallen in the oven.
QPR will be relieved that Citeh did not score on this counter off one of their set pieces. They just about get away with it.
Lampard misses a sitter as the souffle is going rancid.
Lamps nearly signs off with another goal for Citeh!
Fred says that if the Gunners win their game in hand vs the Black Cats then goal difference won't matter.
I heard Yaya singing" Turn off the lights, the party's Over." Rather cheeky.
Better from QPR as Hart saves a long range effort from Hoilett.
Oh - David Silva was in for the fourth but Rob Green redeemed himself with a good save down to his right.
OH!!! Green superbly turns a shot from, Silva around the post as he got too easily through the QPR defense.
Zaba picks up a free kick on the edge of the box as Joey Barton to add to his collection of Etihad cards.
Some more puns for the lucky Bob. Some more away day blues for QPR and the QPR soufflet is not well Dunne
Kolarov over this one again - and pulls a good save out of Green again.
Green superbly saves the free kick from Kolorov.
Boni is on for Lampard, who gets a standing ovation.
Lampard gets a good hand on his way off to join up with the Citeh-sponsired New York FC side in the MLS. He won't even have to change his shirt, as the NY side play in almost identical ones.
Phillips upends Silva in the box and he might be off now.
PENALTY AS THIS IS BECOMING FARCICAL. A RIDICULOUS CHALLENGE BY MATTY PHILLIPS ON SILVA. HE COULD HAVE BEEN OFF.
Aguero to take for his hat-trick.
Scores - #25.
4-0 Citeh - embarrassing for QPR now.
GOAL !!!! AGUERO HAS A HAT-TRICK AS HE SENDS GREEN THE WRONG WAY FROM THE SPOT AS QPR ARE GOING DOWN IN DISGRACE.
I hear the Fat Lady singing opera in the West End.
Aguero is on the hunt for his fourth goal now. Offside.
QPR are in danger of losing by a cricket score. Green pushes away a shot from SIlva, who was called offside.
You're right now - it's "A Little Night Music" time for QPR. They're done.
Bob will be interested to hear that Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be making his first Prem start for Chelsea, not QPR.
Do I know Ruben Loftus-Cheek?
A kick save by Green from Boni at the near post for a corner as the QPR back four were torn to shreds yet again
GOAL !!! MILNER PUITS CITEH FIVE UP FAR TOOEASILY.
GOAL! Citeh have 5 as LUFC Academy scores at the backpost.
QPR fans have seen enough today - they're off for the train home to West London.
Where was the marking? Boni headed on a corner from Kolorv that was played back by Silva and Milner was unmarked, tapping in from three yards out.
They might as well. It was a wasted trip for them . Sad that is.
He's from the Chelsea Academy , but I thought you would be interested in the hyphenated name because it's named after QPR's ground, yet he 's a Chelsea player.
Another pun: If Citeh score one more then we can say game, set , and match.
It's party time and Yaya gets great applause as he comes on for Fernandinho.
That QPR effort was too Fer off as has been their season, especially in away matches.
QPR are becoming a yoyo club.
Yaya shoots straight at Green.
Krancjar is on for Fer, but this match is too Fer gone for QPR.
OH!!! Yaya shoots wide with a shot from the outside of his boot.
A poor corner from Matty Phillips is cleared by Zaba , the first man , and another counter. Nearly punished as Boni had a near post effort cannon off the post then Milner shot wide.
The final roll of the dice from Pelligrini as Navas is on for Milner. The LUFC Academy Boy may have an upset tummy, but it's a nauseating performance from QPR.
The Little Neviller blaming Harry for QPR's predicament and rightly so.
A warm ovation for SWP as he comes on as a sub for QPR on his return to the Etihad.
SWP is immediately in the action as he has a long range effort easily saved by Hart.
GOAL !!!! GAME ,SET ,AND MATCH AS SILVA SCORES TO PUT CITEH SIX UP.
Same story as QPR were torn to shreds again. It went down the Citeh left as Aguero found Boni, and his cheeky back heel made it to Silva , who rounded Green and slotted it in the back of the net.
Are Citeh thirsty enough to go seven up? Boni was wanting a sip as his shot was blocked.
Mercifully for QPR, only two minutes of stoppage time.
QPR are down to ten men as Caulker goes off injured and they have no subs remaining.
Citeh win a a late corner. Caulker is back on.
Mnagala has a header blocked and that's it as Citeh defeat QPR 6-0 as they are relegated in disgrace. United look set for a qualifier in August . Sigh.
That's it for me as I am up to visit the in-laws for Mother's Day. It was great chatting with you. Cheers mate.
Cheerio, mate - I'm going to stick around for the late one.
Hey Bob
I am back from trying to go out for breakfast but ended up just bringing some donuts home
How are you doing mate?
Teams in tunnel
Liverpool to go out first and make a Guard of Honor for the champions of England
I am a big Chelsea fan today... they better not lay an egg
Liverpool fail to win and United are in the top four
Here come Liverpool... to some boos
A blue carpet there for the Champs to come out to
What is the biggest derby of the day today?
The New York derby!!!
Red Bulls vs NYFC
Chelsea XI: Courtois; Ivanovic, Zouma, Terry, Filipe Luis; Mikel, Loftus-Cheek; Willian, Fabregas, Hazard; Remy
Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Johnson, Lovren, Skrtel, Can, Gerrard, Coutinho, Henderson, Lallana, Sterling, Lambert
Preston won their home tie against Chesterfield today 3-0 and 4-0 on agg.
Beckford nutmegged a man on the half way line and then lobbed the keeper from 45 yards. He then went over and celebrated with him manager Simon Grayson!
They should have both still have been at ER
They are off
Sterling is already hurt.
It is a leg injury
A man in the book already but not sure if it was to the right man
It was a Fabregas challenge but I think it was Mikel with the card
Sterling looks to be okay
Fabregas is the one that gets the card
Better not go down to ten men today!!
Hate rooting for Chelsea
Another nasty challenge by a Blue
Some bloke called Loftus-Cheek
Shouldn't he being playing for QPR
GOAL!!
John Terry puts the Champions ahead!!
Great news for United
Hiya, mate - I'm just back from brekkies to see JT nod home Chelsea's first - good news for United.
I'm doing just fine, mate. Will you be watching the New York Derby later?
Again, anything but a win for Liverpool means United will be guaranteed a top four finish. Of course, I wold really want a top three finish so there would be no play off game but I don't think we can do it
A draw would still have Pool mathematically able to catch United but would have to make up 14 goals in two games
Not sure if I will be watching it
I will if I am around
Still no Diego Costa even on the bench. He must be done for the season. I suppose Aguero's 24 goals won't be topped this season - I've lost those six points.
Beckford's goal this morning that I mentioned earlier
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7h8uriCLeQ
You're in good shape with Sevilla
I don't know what this commentator is talking about - Gerrard and Lampard were rubbish together for England.
I agree with you about JB and Grayson. It's a shame that we lost both of them, JB particularly.
I am in good shape with Sevilla but they'll have a tough final with Napoli. Even those six points may not be enough to stop Matt.
Napoli only drew 1-1 at home in the first leg
Useless effort by Sterling... well wide... not high but horrible
I just watched the JB goal - marvelous strike from the big man. I miss him.
Should have never left!
Went backwards
Fab should have gotten a second yellow there
Fabregas might have gone off for two yellows there. Not part of the script today.
Lallana goes into the book now - this is getting a bit tetchy.
Watching old matches right now on youtube
I just watched United beat Leeds in the 77 FA Cup Semi. Now i'm watching the quarter final against Villa
Goodness knows what Leeds will look like come the start of next season.
So - what do you think of the Memphis Depay deal? Good business?
Gerrard finds Lambert in the area but Rickie is just offside.
Not exactly what we need
DEFENDERS!!!
Right full back so Valencia doesn't play
I watch the Leeds v. Soton one when Barry Davies says "it's almost cruel to watch" when we're toying with them all the time.
But right backs aren't sexy.
Steve Coppell was good... oh for a great wide man
They want to buy Clyne from Sotton
That might be a good move.
Charlie Austin will be available now that QPR are down - any interest?
Oh - Cesc got through and had a go from a sharp angle.
nah
Jose Mourinho is getting the opera treatment from the Chelski crowd now.
17 goals in the Premiership this season - better than any of the United strikers - and for a relegated side?
agreed
I'd take Benteke
He's a streaky one - I could see you getting frustrated with him. Falcao will be off, right?
He should be but there is talk of him staying
DiMaria has been even worse... I never rated him anyway
I said that during the World Cup
Diego Costa is in amongst the regular punters today.
Kurt Zouma coming off with a knock. Gary Cahill on.
Diego Costa sitting in the third tier with the fans
DiMaria was really good at Real, though. I think he might come good under the right management.
Still sucks
Awful in the WC
I still reckon that Rooney is your biggest problem - and probably England's too. His star power means that he picks himself but he doesn't do the job for you.
Diego's seen enough - he's off for a half-time pie.
Costa has been kicked out of the stands
The bloke probably wanted his seat back
Rooney has been pathetic!
Still hate the way United play
For DECADES United have been a team that attacks and goes out to win every game... not the last two years
United would never corner flag it... not the last two years
Ivanovic into the book now - he'd be a useful acquisition for you.
GOAL! Stevie G is captain fantastic for the Reds!
Bugger... Gerrard scores late on in the first half
NOT GOOD NEWS
United could still lose at home to Arsenal and away to Hull... who may have to win
Gerrard says to JT - "Anything you can do, I can do better."
That's half-time - even Steven at Stamford Bridge. I'm off to throw some laundry in.
Ht... it would be good enough but still 45 minutes left
Back on for the second half. Chelski might settle for a draw here - not good for United.
