Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Footie Trivia of the Week!

The Premiership is back at the weekend and I couldn't be happier or more excited. If you're feeling the same way, have a go at this brain teaser:

"In the 23 years of its operation, there have been 15 footballers who have claimed the mantel of top goalscorer in the Premiership for a given season. So....

1. Name as many of those fifteen as you can or

(For the ambitious) Name the top goalscorer of each year since the inaugural 1992-1993 season.

2. Which player has claimed the top goalscorer most often? How many times was that?

3. Which club has had the largest number of top goalscorers?

4. Which two players have scored the most number of goals in a given season? How many was that?

5. Which two players have scored the least number of goals in a given season? How many was that?"

Go for it, lads!

Nice effort, mate - you got seven of the 15 goalscorers. Roon, Owen and Fowler never got the Golden Boot. The others did, some of them several times.

Correct on #2 - although he actually got it four times, in 2001/2002, 2003/2004, 2004/2005 and 2005/2006.

Not correct on #3 - sorry.

Correct with Shearer but at 34 goals in 1994/5. There's one more who also scored 34 goals.

Thanks for playing!

Spot on, UWS - Super Kev hit the top spot for Sunderland in the 1999-2000 season.

The amazing thing about the Premiership top goalscorers list is that it's almost all English players up until 2000 (Teddy Sheringham, Andy Cole, Alan Shearer, Super Kev, etc.)/

When was the last time an English striker was top scorer in the Prem? Why - it was that man, Kevin Phillips!
