A Tale of Two Cities
No respect for the Leeds boys this morning at BEin; they'd rather be showing some naff infomercial about "The Miracle Machine." So, instead, I'm up early doors to watch the Dickensian battle between the two cities - Norwich and Manchester. That's followed by a couple of rubbish matches and then the Cup match between Chelski and Everton at 12:30. Join me for the day, won't you?

In recent times Norwich and Manchester City have been in dismal form, but the good news today is that they can’t both lose!
Good morning , mate. I'm starting my vacation up early and enjoying the pleasure of your company with some strong coffee brewing
The teams coming out at Carrow Road:
Norwich City (4-2-3-1) Ruddy; Martin, Bennett, Klose, Olsson; Howson, O’Neil; Redmond, Hoolahan, Jarvis; Bamford.
Subs: Rudd, Bassong, Mbokani, Jerome, Dorrans, Mulumbu, Pinto.
Manchester City (4-4-2) Hart; Sagna, Kompany, Otamendi, Clichy; Navas, Fernandinho, Fernando, Silva; Bony, Aguero.
Substitutes: Caballero, Demichelis, Kolarov, Zabaleta, M Garcia, Sterling, Iheanacho.
Referee Jon Moss (W Yorkshire)
Sorry about the shaft on BEIN. BTW, the Canaries look like they will need a miracle to survive as the teams are about to kick off at one of our old stomping grounds
The big news is that Patrick Bamford, who has already had more clubs than Tiger Woods at the tender age of 22, makes his Premiership debut for Norwich up front today.
Morning, MUR - happy Spring Break to you!
They're off from CR.
Cheers mate. When do you start Spring Break
And we're away at our old stomping grounds in East Anglia.
BOOM BOOM! Lots of clubs , but yet to play for his parent club. A footie orphan?
These teams met here in the Third Round with Citeh winning 0-3
An early lecture for Russell Martin for a nasty foul on David Silva
David Silva has the chance to whip a free kick in early doors. Ruddy bobbles it but Norwich eventually clear the danger.
John Ruddy misses the free kick, but the Canaries get away with it. An early scare.
Aguero has a shot blocked for a corner
All Citeh pressure so far. Norwich really under the cosh.
FDernandinho wins another corner , yet again off of Russell Martin
I think Danny Mills played for both teams.
Russell Martin wins a corner off of Clichy.
The corner from Nathan Redmond is headed out and one of the Olsson twins shoots over from long range.
Aguero is offside as he shoots wide with just Ruddy to beat. He looked on.
Bennett is booked for a rash challenge on Silva.
Naughty by Russell Martin , who gets away with murder, but Ryan Bennett was booked for the first foul
Gary O'Neill is called for a foul on Fernandinho just outside the Canaries box.
Ruddy tips over the free kick from Aguero
Klose clears away after blocking the header from Kompany.
Norwich are struggling to get out of their third, never mind their half.
Agreed, mate. Can Citeh does against the likes of teams other than the Canaries and Villa.
Patrick Bamford might as well have slept in this morning - he hasn't had a sniff.
Well, it's clear that Alex Neill would have taken a point at the beginning of matters.
Johnny Howson is offside after the Canaries first sustained spell of possession this match
I agree with both statements. It's hard to evaluate Bamford because the Canaries have been camped in their own half, but he's looked bloody useless on the few Canaries attacks/.
Otamendi is booked for a foul on Martin just outside the Citeh box as Martin played a nice one two.
Norwich have the rare opportunity to swing a free kick in after Otamendi idiotically gives up a foul.
The free kick from Redmond is headed up into the air by Klose and Bamford fouls Joe Hart
Nearly half an hour in and Norwich are slowly getting into this match.
Hey Boys
Good morning
I have been up and about but just settling down to the computer
Great save by Ruddy from Aguero, who made a solo run
Good morning, UWS. Great to have you around.
Have my SS link going
WAY HAY!!!! Sol Bamba gives Leeds the lead at Ewood Park
Nathan Redmond is down injured.
Bob should be delighted about the news from Ewood Park.
The modern day game is getting so bad
Just pass the ball and don't get the ball in the box at all!!
Agreed. It's frustrating to watch at times.
Leeds is one up at the half.
Congrats to the Whites... on fire!!
Celtic is one up at the half in a Glasgow derby.
Morning, UWS - great to have you on board. And great news about the Leeds boys!
Agreed. If they win today then they are just one win from clinching safety
Sol Bamba with the Leeds goal. A win today would be three on the trot and mid-table safety.
Matty Jarvis wins a corner off a long Canaries possession
Wes Hoolihan is offside from the corner. That's a wasted opportunity
can you say play offs!
Great shot by the Canaries!!
Hart was beaten!
Oh - Bamford nearly scored with a cracking half volley - struck the bar!
OH!!! Off the bar from Bamford with a piledriver from 25 yards out
Nah - we'll end up just slightly below mid-table, something between 55 and 60 points.
Leeds need to stop talking about safety
12 points clear of safety
NINE points off the play offs
DO THE MATH
Palace is the first team in the semis as they won thanks to two late goals at the Mad Stad.
It's an outside chance for the Whites if they can go on a run
Citeh have dominated until the last few minutes, but the Canaries have come the closest to scoring
They are on a run
Danny Mills doesn't sound like the world's greatest motivator. He would be trashing his players for holding Citeh 0-0 at the half.
With Palace making the semis is good news for United
In my memory, Palace have made the semi finals three times
1977.... lost to Southampton, United made the Final
1990....beat Liverpool, United beat them in the Final
1995... lost to United, United lost the Final
Palace can't get away from United
Dorrans is on for the injured Redmond. He's more defensive minded
Naismith is hurt but, he hasn't started recently even when he was fit
Redmond has to be replaced
That sounds correct. I think that's what the announcer stated. Wasn't the first time as a Third Division team when Big Mal failed to win promotion with them
Two minutes of stoppage time/
You would have been proud of Al Habsi in the Reading goal. Cabaye hit the penalty straight down the middle , but the keeper did not move and nearly saved it as it came off the side of his hand.
Yup, I didn't hear any commentator
I'll be happy with a mid-table finish. We're not really prepared to perform at Premiership level.
Just wide by the Canaries just before the half time whistle
All square
Jarvis has a curler deflected for corner, but they don't have time to take the corner and it's 0-0 at the half.
Norwich will be reasonably happy, going in 0-0 with Citeh.
Kyle Martino is in Austin, just a few hours away from Yours Truly.
The second half is underway from CR
Fred is reading the LOB thread. Well done for a tomcat.
Celtic are two up at the Thistles in a Glasgow Derby.
Navas wins a corner off of one of the Olsson twins
Otamendi heads just over from the corner from Navas.
Hoolihan wins a corner off a pass from Jarvis
Citeh counter off the corner from Dorrans
Gary O'Neill fouls Aguero just outside the box on that counter.
The free kick from Navas is headed out then Bamford blocks a shot from Aguero
Back for the second half now; Leeds are still 0-1 up at Ewood Park.
Otamendi is begging for a second yellow at this point.
Raheem Sterling preparing to come on. Why didn't he start?
Sterling is on for Boni
WAY HAY!!! Antenucci puts Leeds two up at Ewood Park. Welcome back and congrats, mate
Navas wins a corner off of Dorrans.
Oh - that was poor from Bamford - he had a chance there. He looks like he's running through treacle.
O'Neill fouls Sterling near the corner flag.
The free kick from Silva is headed away
Did you read the latest update from Ewood PArk
Great block from Klose on Aguero because he klosed him down.
I am back before walkies... didn't miss much!
I'd love this score to stick!
BTW, what a great ball by Adebayor for Palace's second last night
I love those type of passes
Klose fouls Aguero inches outside the box.
Oh - Aguero goes down on the edge of the box. Very close to a pen.
Welcome back. Leeds are two up at Ewood PArk and yes it was a great pass by Ade.
Free kick chance for City
Weak effort from Silva
Into the wall by Silva and hacked away
Great news for Leeds
On the ball City
Never mind the danger
That was my Stef impersonation there!!
agreed. Bob should be delighted.
Wahay! That's Mirco's eighth goal of the season. He's now level with Chris Wood at the top of the scoring chart for us.
Mbokani is on for Hoolihan and Cammy Jerome is on for Bamford as Alex Neill changes his striking partnership.
Will Leeds make a run to the playoffs and win promotion. Will they host United at ER or will it be Villa?
Is NBCSN showing the Stoke Sotton match next?
I'd rather watch Bournemouth Swansea... is that on USA?
A Dahlgren Derby in MLS today as Bob's Revs host Steve's DC United.
Just checked myself, the answer is yes to both questions
You are correct. That is the match on NBCSN
So, Leeds are up to 47 points and in 12th position
Brum have a game in hand and 7 points ahead. Everyone else has played the same number of games
Just six teams to overtake...easy peasy
Those are the only two prem matches today. The other one is on Monday where both teams will be interested in the outcome of this match
Agreed. Actually, I think a Not Very Big Club occupies the final playoff place.
The Thistles pull one back late vs Celtic as they now trail 1-2.
I really hope Rafa doesn't have an instant effect on the Toon
Johnny Howson is booked for a foul from behind on Fernandinho
Navas wins a corner off of Dorrans.
Mbokani heads out the corner from Navas.,
That's for the optimism. I'm happy with 12th place. We're exactly where we were points wise now with last season.
We all know the blue City will score eventually
The yellow City concede late all the time
I agree. I would love to see the Toon thrashed 10-0
Silva wins another Citeh corner. The corner from Navas is headed away
Are the Canaries lacking fitness since they are conceding so many late goals or is it a lack of concentration.
Oh Dear
1-2 at Ewood
Too little too late according to Jeff
The final roll of the dice for Manny P as Ihenaacho is on for Navas.
I sure hope so. They're about to enter stoppage time.
BLOW UP REF!
Simeon Jackson, the Canuck and former Canary, with that goal
Celtic hold on to win 1-2 at Thistle.
Norwich’s biggest problem at the moment is that, when they do get the ball, they can’t keep it for more than a few seconds. That means the defence isn’t getting any kind of respite. Ruddy has only had one hard save to make, but you’d expect another in the next 10 minutes.
Hang in there, you Whites!
It would be a shame if the Canaries fail to hold on. This would be an outstanding point.
I second that. They're in the fifth minute of stoppage time. Make that sixth
Doreans shoots well wide after a clearance from Kompany came off of Sagna.
Yikes!!!! Into the eighth minute of stoppage time at Ewood Park
BBC said it is still 1-2 in the 98th minute!
WAY HAY!!!LEEDS HANG ON TO WIN 1-2 AT EWOOD PARK. CONGRATS, MATE
LEEDS WIN!!!
Premier League... here they come
City refuse to shoot
Are they United in disguise?
The Canaries take forever to clear the ball out of their box.
Massive scramble in the Norwich box.
Thanks, mate - I am thrilled. Three wins on the trot. 47 points.
It sounds like a boring Manc Derby to conclude matters leading in to the international break
Cotten just keeps saying
Shoot shoot shoot
Sparky and Fred are showing more fight than Citeh!
Again, I will be in Charlotte next weekend and I won't bother watching... that's what LVG has done to me
Cottee... not Cotten
A late free kick for the Canaries.
Three minutes of stoppage time
Three added minutes
Lucky you. I will be concluding Spring Break watching a mind numbing derby.
Seeing the family in Charlotte or just a vacay?
A corner from Silva is cleared
City will be THREE games behind with 9 to play
It's over and Citeh are held 0-0 at CR. A disasterous result for Citeh, but it could be a priceless point for Citeh
YES!!
Ends scoreless
Not good enough for City and actually not really good enough for the other City as well... even though it is a great result
Norwich complete a handy draw there with Citeh. They're up to 25 points.
I think Citeh's title chances are done and dusted. It could be a dozen by the time play ends on Monday
Our really good friends(almost family)live there. We go down there often
I am off for walkies
City's game in hand has been played an are only TWO points ahead of West Ham
Ok, I am now leaving
The Canaries remain third from bottom , but are now behind the Black Cats on gd as Fred eyes a tasty morsel. He would love to snack on Canary stew.
I'm off to the shower, lads. May skip the 10am matches. Bit of a bore. I'll be back for the FA Cup match between Chelski v. Everton.
Enjoy , UWS.
Sounds like a plan. I second that.
I am back from walkies
Nice and sunny but a bit of a chilly wind but so mild for upstate NY
Top of the table Burnley take the lead at Hudders
I am off for some errands
Wow, there is a fire in a stand at Exeter
The stand has been evacuated just after Exeter scored
Hope it is minor
Beautiful day here in WNY, too. Just did some pruning of the fruit trees out the back. Feels like spring.
It's a beautiful, sunny day here too. I'll enjoy it because it's supposed to be hot the next three days after today
Two local derbies in the Championship where table topping Burnley lead 1-3 at Hudders while JFH's lads are one up vs the Bees. Brucey's lads are being held 0-0 by the Fake Dons
Sad about the fire at Exeter
In the Prem , the Saints are two up at the Brit thanks to goals from Pelle. It's 1-1 at the Vitality Stadium where former Leeds player , Max gradel, scored his first for the Cherries thanks to Flappy flapping at a cross then Barrow tied it up for the Swans two minutes later with his first for the Swans thanks to a superb individual goal
The second half has kicked off a the Vitality Stadium
The second half is underway from the Brit
GOAL !!! THE CHERRIES LEAD THE SWANS 2-1 . LEROY FER CHEAPLY GAVE THE BALL AWAY TO GRADEL AND HE FOUND JOSH KING , WHO BEAT FLAPPY AT HIS NEAR POST.A GOAL FROM THE MUFC ACADEMY ASSISTED BY A FORMER LEEDS PLAYER.
GOAL !!! THE POTTERS PULL ONE BACK VS THE SAINTS. A CROSS FROM BOJAN WAS POORLY CLEARED TO IMBULA , WHO FOUND PIETERS DOWN THE LEFT AND HIS PASS WAS PUT AWAY AT THE NEAR POST BY ARNAUTOVIC WITH A ROCKET IN THE UPPER 90.
Colchester have surprisingly come from two down vs Wigan to make it Desmond.
Two surprises as struggling Bolton take the lead vs Preston in a derby match and an even bigger shock as the Fake Dons take the lead at Brucey's club.
UWS will not be pleased that Newport are one up at fratton Park , but Bob will be pleased that Argyle lead at Accrington Stanley as will Jeff that his team lead Daggenham in a relegation six pointer.
Affelay with the assist, not Pieters as Fraser Forster made a great save from Arnautovic.
Barca have dozen up vs Getafe. BORING!
GOAL !!!! DESMOND AT THE VITALITY STADIUM AS GOMIS FOUND RANGEL DOWN THE RIGHT AND HE PASSED TO BARROW , WHO FOUND SIGGY IN THE BOX AND HE SCORED WITH A GREAT FINISH IN THE UPPER 90.
GOAL !!! 3-2 CHERRIES AS MATT RITCHIE PUT IN A DELIGHTFUL CROSS FROM A SHORT CORNER AND A TASTY HEADER FROM COOK LANDED IN THE CORNER.
Brucey's lads tie it up vs the Fake Dons while JFH's lads go three up vs the Bees in a West London Derby and Derby County are three up at Rotherham. Bob will not be pleased that Not a Big Club are two up at Forest
UWS will not be pleased that Newport County have gone two up at Fratton Park
League leaders , Northants are one up vs Cambridge
Flappy acrobatically tipped over a chip from Lewis Grabban
JWP nearly sealed victory for the Saints at the Brit as he curled a free kick off the bar
Four minutes of stoppage time at the Vitality Stadium
Rotherham have come from three down vs Derby County to make it 2-3 while Not a ig Club have gone three up at Forest
Five minutes of stoppage time at the Brit
WOW ! A straight red for Mane as the Saints hold on to a slender lead in stoppage time. He lead with an elbow while challenging Arnautovic
UWS will be livid that Newport County have gone three up at Fratton Park.
Further down the south Coast the Cherries hold on to defeat the Swans 3-2 and are surely safe as they now have 38 points
