The Premiership Home Stretch
I'm up and about after a trillion hours of sleep and emerging from the fog of illness. I hope you'll join me this morning as we enter the final stretch of the Premiership season. With three matches to come, every kick is vital. We start with the 3pm GMT kickoffs, including Newcastle v. Palace. Then we end up the day at the Emirates with Arsenal v. Norwich.

Alan Pardew returns to the club where mention of his name still polarises opinion, in charge of a Palace side who may have reached the FA Cup final but remain on a shocking league run.
Good morning, mate. I hope you're felling better,
It finished Desmond between the Blue Noses and the Teesiders yesterday while already relegated Bolton defeated Brucey's , who will be a playoff team no matter what. The result was 1-0. Wigan won 0-4 at the Tangerines to clinch a return to the Championship while the Tangerines are in danger of being relegated to L2
Morning, MUR - thanks for the well wishes. I am feeling a whole lot better after a trillion hours of sleep.
The Toffees vs the Cherries is on NBCSN while The Toon vs Palace is on USA, which features an interesting return to SJP for Alan Pardew.
Great to hear, mate. for some reason, I didn't get too much sleep, but I'm not too tired.
I'm going to be watching the Newcastle v. Palace match on USA, which has more at stake than Everton v. Bournemouth on NBC Sports Network. How about you?
Hi guys
Bob, You'd be kicked off the english radio if you called the league the Premiership!
Naughty boy..
Good morning, UWS. I'm watching both matches simultaneously, but I guess the main one will be The Toon vs Palace.
The teams are out on the pitch at SJP:
Newcastle
XI: Darlow, Anita, Mbemba, Lascelles, Dummett, Townsend, Tiote, Colback, Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Cisse
Subs: Woodman, Taylor, Mbabu, Shelvey, De Jong, Perez, Mitrovic
Crystal Palace
XI: Hennessey, Ward, Dann, Delaney, Souare, Jedinak, Cabaye, Puncheon, McArthur, Bolasie, Wickham
Subs: McCarthy, Mariappa, Kelly, Ledley, Sako, Gayle, Adebayor
Morning, UWS!
What am I supposed to call it, the Barclays Premier League?
Celtic won 1-3 at Hearts earlier today. If Aberdeen drop points vs Well then the Hoops will be SPL Champs
It's the Potters vs the Black Cats on NBCSN , not the Toffees vs the Cherries.
Both matches are a Geordie team fighting relegation vs a team that is safe and nothing to play for.
Correct
It is the Premier League
Andy Goldstien and Robbie Savage would correct you every time
I'm watching the match at SJP
That's funny because it was listed as the match at Goodison on my channel info. Still watching the match over on USA but I may switch back and forth.
If you think FOX is a bunch of amateurs then how about BEIN , who started coverage of Bolton vs Hull City 29 minutes in because they were airing reruns of motorcycle racing?
And I would tell Robbie Savage that he was a useless player that was on the worst Premiership side ever. So there!
I have both on at the same time.
That is poor form from BEin.
Early corner for Palace...cleared out.
You are a master of technology, MUR.
I'm not related to Andy unless proven wrong by ancestry.com
I saw that too
Stoke and Sunderland do nothing for me
II want Sunderland to go down... i'm fed up with him and Big Sam
Cheers mate. It's the PIP option on the remote and changing to single mode
I think it's also a return to SJP for Cabaye
Unfortunately, it's looking as if Fat Sam and co might stay up at Norwich's expense. They need something out of their match at the Em today. Sunderland still have a game in hand.
Well you're both United fans!
Fred concurs with UWS. I haven't a bloody clue where he is
And Pardew, of course. I'm sure that he got a hot reception from the Toon Army when he appeared.
WOW ! Great info, UWS
Norwich host United next week too
I want Newcastle to survive
Mbemba with a clumsy one there - yellow card.
Mbemba booked for obstruction on fellow Congolese international, Bolassie
I'd love to see Norwich survive - Newcastle and Sunderland can go.
Half chance for Puncheon - he bobbles it wide. Mostly Palace pressure so far.
Raffa vs Pardew is a rematch of the 2006 Cup Final, the last ever one played in Cardiff.
Brentford take the lead at home to Fulham
Bob's home should be empty today because Fulham on the road
The Toffees take the lead vs the Cherries. We could have seen that. Poor by NBC
Even take the lead at home to Bournemouth
Glad the Cherries got their points early... they've been struggling
It's a local Derby being played at SUNY Fredonia.
Don't you diss my NBC.... I HAVE NOTHING BUT GREAT THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THEM!!
Clever Boy with the goal for the Toffees.
Brentford two up
Coventry two up against the Blades
Got my SS link going
Tom Cleverly with that goal for the Toffees. Do you lot miss him at OT?
The Cherries tie it up at Goodison
Palace piling on the pressure as Darlow made a great reflex save from Bolassie and a superb tackle by Lascelles on Whickham , the former Black Cat
One significant match in the Championship
That is at Hillsborough
A draw for the home side would confirm Wednesday's play off spot on a Saturday. A Cardiff win would take it to the last week
Decent chance there from Wynadum on the turn. Hennessy gobbled it up though.
Marc Pugh sniffed in an equalizer for the Cherries
Ugh - I would hate to see Not a Big Club in the Premiership.
No we don't miss Cleverley
Even though he wouldn't be also ran in this United squad
Lost my SS link
Boom boom, MUR!
IS A BIG CLUB... PREMIER LEAGUE
The key matches in the Championship are on Ban Holiday Monday with Burnely vs JFH's lads and the Seagulls vs the Rams. Those are significant since the Teesiders were held to Desmond at St. Andrews yesterday
Please don't give MUR any credit for that pun!!!!
Cheers, Bob.
I agree with UWS that we don't miss Clever Boy . He had some real stinkers for us. I disagree with him about the pun
Blacburn take the lead at Rotherham in a meaningless match
Cambridge have had a great run and has come close to a playoff spot
They were helped by Pompey beating Wimbledon midweek but still five back with two to play
Okay, okay, UWS - no need to yell.
Aberdeen take the lead vs Well. That would delay the title for the Hoops till next weekend.
Now Cambridge United I would love to see in the Premiership, much better than Not a Big Club.
Mannone does well to turn around a header from Crouchie.
Cambridge scoreless at the Abbey against Plymouth
Same with Wombles at Stevenage
I agree , mate. The evil Lions take the lead vs Oldham
Almost all the Leagues are all but decided top and bottom by the end of the season
Not sure what that round of applause was for at 17 minutes at SJP.
Northants , the title winners, take the lead vs Luton
I agree, UWS - I'm wondering what will be left to decide on the final day of the Premiership season.
The Tractor Boys take the lead vs the already relegated Fake Dons
Are we rooting for United tomorrow David?
Do we really want LVG to get another lifeline?
Do we want Leicester to win it?
Who takes the final CL places and who will be in the EL. Also the last relegation place between the two Geordie clubs
Good questions, UWS.
Premier League... I'm just impersonating Dave's brother Andy!!
I'm rooting for the Foxes . I would love to see them clinch the title at OT , which would be a bitter pill for LVG to swallow. He also stated that the Foxes will win the league due to lucky circumstances. Really horrible by LVG and this will teach him a lesson
EL is fifth and sixth because of Citeh's League Cup win
Will it go to seventh if United win the Cup? It used to be the runners up would take the spot but I don't think that is case anymore
I think he's a tenth cousin. My mom said that when her relatives emigrated to the UWS in the early 1900s that a second cousin and his family emigrated to England. You never know even though ti's a common name.
I agree
LVG said that United don't have the players with experience to win the league!!
WHAT??????
Rooney, Carrick, De Gea, Smalling, Young and more have been champions
Leicester City... NONE
Correct UWS. Last season was the first time the runners up in the Cup did not qualify for the EL
I don't think that the Europaship will reach down to 7th this season.
Newcastle have slowly been getting into this one; Andros Townsend seems to be their liveliest player.
Just Robert Huth , who a Prem medal with Chelsea in Little Joe's first spell in charge
It will if United win the Cup.
Oh - Cabaye was is there and Cardalo had to save sharpish at his near post.
Newly promoted Bristol Rover take the lead at relegated York . Rovers looking for consecutive promotions as they look set to be in the playoffs.
Cabaye on his return to SJP
Ciaran Clark has scored a rare goal for Villa away to Watford.
Cieran Clark gives Villa the lead at Vicarage Road as they attempt to win their first away match since the opening day of the season
Aberdeen two up vs Well. The Hoops will have to wait till next match to clinch the title
The Canaries are in a tough position with consecutive matches vs the Gunners and United. Hard to see them surviving./
The Toon fans not best pleased with Palace's delaying tactics. They're desperate for a win today.
Oh - Bolassie tried a ripper from distance - not too far away!
Bolassie not far off with a long range effort.
The Hammers take the lead at the Baggies in a West Derby
The Coyote with the goal assisted by Payet. No surprises there.
Just on the phone with a buddy
Missed some goals!
Villa, West Ham
Great save by Hennessey from Mbemeba
Yep - West Ham putting some pressure United.
Celtic 'won' the Scottish PREMIERSHIP this morning
Well, they have to lose the rest of their games, Aberdeen have to win all of their and there has to be a THIRTY-EIGHT goal swing
So, the Nocito Curse extends to the phone?
Were you blinded by the Claret and sky blue?
I thought Newcastle would be more up for this one
They have been flat. Maybe because they know that Rafa is off at the end of the season?
Ignoring the pun
Killie two up at Hamilton. That result would relegate the Tangerines. The English version could be relegated top L2 next weekend
Oh dear
Charlton have scored against the run of play at Elland Road
So the Dons are mathematically still alive despite million to one odds.
Bugger! Well, our season is over.
The Dons are going down - and rightly so.
Three minutes of stoppage time to come at SJP.
What are your thoughts on Muhammad, I mean Delle, Ali?
I hate the pundits saying "I love this mean streak", 'He's still young"
No, he's a thug!!!
Do that in the Euros and England are down to ten men!!!
You don't think the rest of Europe are watching!!
What did Becks have to go through when he did a little kick out.... Ali punched the guy!
Kicked another one on the ground earlier in the EL
It's 0-0 at the hal;f between the Potters and the Black Cats. A carbon copy of the match at SJP
I don't think he's a thug. He's young and very immature. I think this will be a learning experience for him
Watford tie it up
West Ham go two up
The Hornets tie it up vs Villa
Why give age as an excuse?
He's a professional footballer!!
Abdi , a defensive middie with the goal for the Hornets
So, I've picked the one match that's 0-0 (sigh) to watch.
Off to soak my head in the shower. Back in a tick.
What will happen in France?
He's a good player but you don't have to be an idiot to go with it
Mark Noble with a royal goal for the Hammers
I want your take on this Bob after the shower
It's 0-0 at the half at SJP
I agree, but he's young and will make mistakes. He's more an idiot than a thug. My mom hit me harder than he hit the player when she had severe arthritis. I'm sure that if he really wanted to, he could have had the player in the ER. He was just stupid.
The already relegated Dons tie it up at PR while SUNY Fredonia take the lead vs Bob and Kate. Bristol City take the lead vs Hudders in a meaningless match
Sorry. SUNY Fredonia go three up vs Bob and Kate
The second half is underway from the Brit
Fred is so excited that he's taking a cat nap in his cat bed.
The Evil Lions are two up vs Oldham while already relegated Colchester are in the lead at Barnsley
Can't be an idiot
Richard Burton have taken the lead vs the Gils. That would delay the L1 title for Wigan until next week
NBC doesn't mess about in the studio or commercials
Takes us to another game and then takes us back to the game when it starts
GOAL ARNAUTOVIC GIVES STOKE THE LEAD VS THE BLACK CATS
If, United do win tomorrow AND Spurs beat Chelsea, can you see Leicester dropping any points to the Toffees?
The second half is underway from sjp.
STOKE TAKE THE LEAD!
Do the crowd know at SJP
Merse says the crowd are aware
Villa retake the lead
Missed your score update...sorry mate
Crouchie headed on a cross from Charlie Adam and Arnautovic out muscled Kaboul to finish past Mannone. Fat Sam wanted a foul called on Arnautovic, but it was just weak defending
Jordan Ayew with the Villa goal
I don't see the Foxes dropping points vs the Toffees. It's just a matter of when, not if.
Dear oh dear
Two nil Charlton
Stoke's goalscorer has to go off with an injury
Arnautovic is down injured and looks set to be replaced by John Walters. That change is now taking place.
Thankfully, it's a meaning less match at ER
Come on Cambridge...you need a goal
Posh are two up at the Shrews as Fat Sam will make a double change
Preston take the lead at the Mad Stad
The Gils tie it up at Richard Burton.
Still scoreless at Hillsborough
A draw would clinch the L1 title for Wigan
I'm back from the shower - did I miss anything?
Ndoye is on for Fabrini and Duncan Whatmore is on for Khazri
Pompey take the lead against Hartlepool
Arnautovic gave Stoke the lead vs Fred's lads.
I see that my beloved is 0-2 down - they're one foot on the beach, no doubt. 58 points beats our total for last season.
A Stoke and Villa goal
And my question
Congrats , UWS. Are you going to give Jeff some stick?
Northants go two up vs Luton as they celebrate the L2 title in style.
Aberdeen go three up vs Well as they try to make in dent in Celtic's goal difference.
GOAL
THE TOON TAKE THE LEAD
GREAT FREE KICK
GOAL! I was right - it's Andros Townsend with a corker of a free kick!
Newcastle 1-0 up! A crucial goal!
I went back to look at your question, UWS. I didn't see what Delli Alle did this week. I'll have to do a Google search for it.
Your thoughts Bob???
GOAL !!! TOWNSEND SCORES WITH A SUPERB FREE KICK FOR THE TOON AFTER HE WON THE FREE KICK DUE TO OBSTRUCTION BY SCOTT DANN
Wolves take the lead at the City Ground
Goal somewhere.... to Everton
That goal moves the Toon two points ahead of the Canaries and three points ahead of the Black Cats. I don't see the Canaries catching the Toon.
Was it obstruction? Was it a direct free kick
Wednesday take the lead on Saturday
They only need a draw
I see now - he was banned for three matches because of a punch in the mid-week match. I would still have him in the squad for France. No question. He's one of the brightest new England stars.
Killie three up at Hamilton. That result will clinch relegation for Dundee United.
I agree with Bob.
According to the Beeb
Newcastle have Played 36 Pts 33 GD -25
Sunderland 35 31 -19
Norwich 34 31 -25
I'm surprised that Sunderland are bollixing it up at the Brit today. That seems like a match they should get at least a point out of.
Baines with the goal for the Toffees . Will they be able to hold on to the lead?
I agree he's a star and I want him in the team but I don't want him to be an idiot!
I don't want people to say he's only young
I don't want people to say I like that mean streak
You can be really good and not a thug
I looked at the replay and thought it was obstruction by Scott Dann. He knew what he was doing
I think he will be good and learn from this stupid mistake.
I would prefer to see him start in the hole rather than Rooney.
Why is it that Leighton Baines scores regularly for Everton but can never score for England?
Bristol City two up vs Hudders in a match meaningless other than the gossip .
Bob will not be pleased to see a Not Very Big club in the playoffs, but I don't see them defeating the Seagulls, Teesiders, or Burnley
Bristol City now three up
The Tractor Boys take a 2-1 lead vs the Fake Dons
Ipswich have taken the lead at home to MK
What's this? Have Palace got a penalty?
The ref has given a penalty to Palace at SJP
The crowd is stunned
PENALTY PALACE. CISSOKHO CALLED FOR HAND BALL OFF THE CORNER FROM OLD BOY, CABAYE.
SAVED!!!
Disaster for Newcastle - SIssokho with a silly handball there. I don't think it was deliberate but Mike Dean called it.
Cabaye to take....
And saved!!!!!!!!!! WOW!
THE PENALTY FROM CABNAYE IS SAVED BY KARL DARLOW AND HOW VITAL WILL THAT BE IN THE RELEGATION BATTLE?
How big is that save - it might just keep Newcastle up!
Plymouth take the lead at the Abbey
Forest tie it up in a meaningless match
Villa down to ten men
That basically eliminates Cambridge from the playoffs.
Leeds get a goal back
