Soccer Saturday Once Again
Morning, guys - I'm up early on a very dark morning to watch Sunderland v. Arsenal, which on paper looks like a hiding to nothing for the Black Cats. Then we've got nearly a full slate of 10am kick-offs featuring the likes of City, Spurs and United. Finally, we end the day with another look at in-form Liverpool, away to Palace. Join me for all the fun and games today, here on the LOB!

Good morning, Bob. It's great to join you for the Saturday matches,.
Morning, David - nice to see you pop up as usual. How are things in south Texas?
The teams now coming out on the pitch at the Stadium of Light:
Sunderland (4-3-3) Pickford; Jones, Kone, O’Shea, Van Aanholt; Rodwell, Ndong, Pienaar; Watmore, Defoe, Khazri.
Substitutes: Mika, Djilobodji, Manquillo, Love, Gooch, Januzaj, Anichebe.
Arsenal (4-2-3-1) Cech; Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Gibbs; Coquelin, Elneny; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ozil, Iwobi; Alexis.
Substitutes: Ospina, Gabriel, Holding, Jenkinson, Ramsey, Giroud, Maitland-Niles.
Referee Martin Atkinson
A moment of silence now for to begin the period of marking Remembrance Day.
Back from making the morning cuppa to a Moments Silence impeccably observed, even by Fred
They're off from the EM
Now on with the action. Peter Drury and Jim Beglin on the microphones today as well kick off.
Everything is pretty busy. How is everything in WNY
Sunderland in their traditional red and white striped kit; Arsenal in a really crap black and day-glo yellow number.
Same here, mate. We had Advisement Week this past week. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend.
Alexis called for handball . I guess he thought he could do that because the keepers name is Pickford, who picks up a free kick
Sorry. Fred just reminded me that the match is being played at the SOL>
Arsenal right on the front foot early on; young Pickford in the Sunderland goal looks to have a busy afternoon ahead of him.
John O' Shea heads out for a corner that is cleared.
Pienaar is down needing treatment now after a nasty one with Mustafi.
Steven Pienaar is down from a challenge from Coq AU VIn, but is able to get up and hobbbles off.
Celtic is one up at Aberdeen about 35 minutes in
A lot of chatter on last week's 606 radio call-in about bringing in Fat Sam in place of David Moyes. What's your opinion on that one, MUR?
Kieran Gibbs wins a Gunners corner.
The Bangles sang about the corner that's oiut for another.
The keeper lives up to his name as Pickford picks up the corner from Beaker.
I could see that. Fred actually mentioned that a few weeks ago on the LOB, but you mentioned something about a lifetime ban. I agree with Fred unless the ban is in effect.
Ozil shoots straight at Pickford off a nice diagonal slide rule pass from Alexis. The Black Cats lack that quality
A superb tackle by Roddie on Coq Au Vin prevents the Gunners from taking the lead as the offside trap was beaten
The Black Cats are caught out by a routine long ball as Iwobi rounded Pickford, but the keeper put enough pressure on him to force a poor touch out of play.
It would seem a bit of an ethical pickle for the Black Cats unless Sam were to be exonerated. Almost as bad as signing Ched Evans.
Celtic is one up at the half at Aberdeen.
I think the SOL is one place that Fat Sam can return to unless the FA puts a halt to that
GOAL! Alexis opens the scoring for the Arsenal. That one was coming.
GOAL !!! ALEXIS GIVES THE GUNNERS THE LEAD. THIS ONE WAS COMING
The Ox roasted Duncan Watmore out wide and then whipped in a great cross which Alexis met with significant purpose, beating his man to the ball.
0-1 Gunners!
Coq Au Vin fouls Khazri just outside the Gunners box.
And the away crowd raises the old Pet Shop Boys chestnut "1-0 to the Arsenal" at that goal.
Oh - Van Arnholt not too far away with that chipped free kick. Cech had it covered, probably.
Van Arnholt takes and there was just a little too much bend on it as Cech watched it go out for a goal kick
It will be 1-0 to the Arsenal as long as Fat Sam was in the England job.
The Gunners support now reminding Alexis that he's on 49 goals - they'll want to see his half ton today.
Ball's in the net for Sunderland but it's chalked off for offside. But decent encouragement for the home side there. They've responded well to that Alexis goal.
Agreed about the goal. Ox was always going to come out on top against a less than pacy striker .A great cross , but Alexis easily beat O' Shea to a cross at the near post to score with a well placed header
Fred says that Hillary will probably do better with the FBI investigation than the Black Cats will do against the Gunners. AN accurate analysis?
Iwobi tries a curler that is just over the top.
Iwobi curls a shot inches over after Van Arnholt had his pocket picked by Alexis, who found Iwobi on the counter.
Fred wants to go shopping with Van Arnholt after discovering how easy it is to pick pocket a wallet from him.
I agree; it looks as if the FBI and its director James Comey have a lot of egg on their faces over this latest investigation. With only 9 days left, I fully expect HRC to win comfortably.
Since Trump is only four points up in Texas, even the Lone Star State is in play for the Democrats - what do you think?
Alexis is fouled on the counter that started off a Black Cats free kick
My opinion is that there is a higher Hispanic turnout than normal and most if centrist, vote Democrat. It makes you wonder if the FBI and Trump are collaborating. IF HRC wins the election than will Mr. Comey walk the plank with Mr. Moyes.
Khazri was dispossessed by Ozil, whom he then fouled. Yellow card and free kick for the Gunners.
Khazri booked for a foul just outside the box.
The free kick from Alexis was curled well over.
Well over the top from the Chilean. Half-hour gone and Arsenal looking cozy.
Ndong , the smoking Bong is booked for a rash challenge.
Now it's the flamboyantly coiffed Didier Ndong into the book for a hack on Bellerin.
Gibbs cuts in and shoots straight at Pickford after Khazri was caught in possession by his own corner flag
Fred is just as cozy, lying on his back napping with his legs pointing vertically up.
The Black Cats were caught out yet again by a routine long ball as the Ox did well to pick out Ozil , who failed to chip over Pickford.
John O'Shea has a hammy problem now and has gone off for treatment. He might be done.
John O' Shea hands the Captain's armband to Dafoe as he walks off injured. Is that it for him?
Pienaaar is booked for nasty challenge on Pienaar. He could have been off with O'Shea for an early bath that I would not want to watch
Djilobodji is on for O'Shea.
Arsenal knocking it about for fun now, coming up on the interval.
The Black Cats offside trap has been beaten more often than Trump being caught lying by the fact checkers
The problem for the Gunners is that it's just a one goal lead despite dominating the first half.
Iwobi shoots well over, to the relief of the long suffering home fans.
I wonder what Kate thinks about Gioroud being a beardy
The Gunners are one up despite total domination that would suggest that this one should have already been done and dusted.
Half-time arrives and I'm off to do some dishes.
The second half is underway from the SOL.
How Davie Moyes is still in charge of the Black Cats is a mystery
We're back on at the Stadium of Light. Forty-five minutes for Sunderland to save David Moyes' career. Another bad loss today would certainly mean curtains for the Scots ginger.
WAY HAY!!!! Oxford Shoes have taken the lead vs the Evil Lions about a half hour in.
He and Mr. Comey will be the main course at HRC's first dinner, or so I hear.
I just saw that Leeds host Burton Albion at ER for the first time ever in a league match. Are you expecting three points from that match
Gibbs is called for a foul on Ndong, the Bong.
Like Donald Trump, yet another poor delivery from Khazri, who was poor from a dead ball situation, which will see Davie Moyes being a dead man walking. Any questions?
BUGGER! The Evil Lions have tied it up at Oxford.
Coq au Vin tries a pop but it's zinged out into the carpark.
Coq Au Vin showed why he's not a prolific scorer as he has an effort land in Row W in the cheap seats.
I thought that Comey et al were feasting on Weiners?
Ironic cheers as , for once, the offside trap works as Alexis is offside from a through ball from the Ox.
Nice one. Probably so, but not Moyes.
The Gunners should have gone two up as the Ox was given the freedom of the SOL. He was off to the races from a through ball from Ozil , but scuffed a shot horribly wide with just Pickford to beat
Sunderland have a penalty! Oh my!
WOW!!!! PENALTY TO THE BLACK CATS AS MUSTAFI MISJUDGED A ROUTINE PASS AND CECH TRIPPED WHATMORE IN THE BOX AND IS BOOKED FOR THAT. A LIFELINE FOR MOYES AND HIS BOYZ?
That was down to Mustafi's slip when the ball was played through by Ndong. Cech picks up a yellow for the clip.
GOAL !!!!! 1-1 DAFOE BLASTS THE PENALTY STRAIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE, SENDING CECH THE WRONG WAY
The reliable Jermain Defoe knocks home the penalty.
1-1 Game on!
AN unlikely score based on the Gunners total dominance, but they failed to put the match away and are punished for a costly mistake.
The home fans are going bonkers
Celtic have won 0-1 at Aberdeen.
Djilbodji heads out for a corner after a teasing cross was put in the box.
Giroud on for Iwobi and seconds later heads inches over from a corner.
Will Jan be the man as he's on for Pienaar?
GOAL! Giroud comes on and scores with his first touch!
Why wasn't he on from the start?
GOAL !!!! GIROUD GIVES THE GUNNERS THE LEAD WITH A GREAT FINISH
Oh - Ozil should have scored there - too tentative a touch in front of goal.
Kos passed to Alexis , who went on a run and passed out left to Gibbs , whose superb cross was well finished with a great left footed volley from Giroud minutes after coming on.
Having clawed their way back into this match once, can the Black Cats do it again?
A clumsy challenge by Jan on Coq Au Vin in the D is a sore one, but a set piece chance for the Gunners
Down to the last 15 minutes now and the Gunners have a promising free kick opportunity now.
Ozil knocks a tame one straight into the wall. He seems off his game today.
The free kick from Ozil is deflected for a corner.
GOAL! Giroud again and the Gunners are rolling!!
GOAL !!!! 1-3 GUNNERS AS GIROUD SCORES HIS SECOND IN A MATTER OF MINUTES WITH A WELL PLACED HEADER OFF THE CORNER.
Simple goal there - nice ball in to the near post and a lovely near post flicked header past Pickford.
1-3!
This one has been put to bed.
1-4 Arsenal - Alexis with his brace now and Moyes is now considering his retirement options.
GOAL !!!! 1-4 GUNNERS AS THIS IS GETTING OUT OF HAND. A SIMPLE TAP IN FOR ALEXIS
That's the half-ton up for Alexis in just a bit over 100 matches. Great strike rate!
A great run by Ozil found El Neny , who walked like an Egyptian past waht seemed like a bunch of mummies . He found Giroud, whose shot came off the post ,off of Ramsey and Alexis swiveled past Djilibodji to tap in from a yard out
That's really outstanding for the Chilean since joining from Barca
Hey Guys... sorry I haven't been by the computer yet this morning
What an embarrassment Sunderland are
1-1 then....
Sunderland fans now considering nipping off for an early exit. It's a sad, sad day for them.
Morning, UWS! Great to have you on board. What do you think - will Moyes walk the plank after this one?
United Burnley on next on NBCSN...I'm surprised it's not Spurs vs the Champs
I guess United's pulling power still has some legs
BTW, on Tom's laptop in Bob's chair
2 out of 30 points is pretty dire but did anyone expect them to win this one?
"The American" - Gooch is coming on for Sunderland now.
Good morning, UWS. Great to have you on board. Surely, this is the end of Davie Moyes's tenure at the SOL. He will probably be getting a pink slip in a few minutes.
As it should be. I reckon that you should put a plaque on the wall behind that chair indicating that I sat there during the World Cup 2014.
Different chair in same spot for WC14
This chair debuted for Euro16
Should be used more by you
Of course, both of those campaigns were abysmal so maybe not!!
I hope to join you for more of the tournament action.
Not great games this weekend
Spurs Leicester is the best I think
Palace usually give Pool a game though
Monday's game belongs on halloween....Swansea and Stoke!
Yikes!
Leeds win another one at home today against Burton... could be tied for a playoff position!!
Pickford does well as sweeper there, cleaning up before Alexis gets to his hat-trick.
And that's it - Sunderland have had the worst Prem start ever, rock bottom now. Total chaos at the club. Something must change soon.
It's over... worse Premier League start EVER... worse than Derby that got 11 points all season
Yes - it's a giddy time for us - into the Quarter-finals and now with a chance of inching up into the top half.
Back from taking Melanie to school for a bus ride to a band qualifier to see if they make state.
Did you come for a Cup Final?
Top thrashes bottom with a 1-4 win at the EM
Good luck to Melanie
Hopefully both our Uniteds win as ours hosts Burnley and Bob's hosts Burton Albion for the first time ever.
Thanks , UWS
United's line up is set at Old Trafford
De Gea
Damian
Blind
Rojo
Shaw
Pogba
Herrera
Lingard
Mata
Rashford
Ibra
Subs
D3.14
Rooney
Carrick
Young
Romero
Fellaini
Schneiderlin
Back four looks bad
Where is Miki.... he's fit!
HE WAS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE THE BUDESLIGA LAST YEAR
Does Jose just put guys in a doghouse and leave them there?
Taken off at HT in the league derby and hasn't played since...doesn't even make the bench. WHY?
I'll be back for kick off
Have to do a little work out and shower
I'm off to rake some leaves before the rain comes this afternoon. Should be back in an hour or so.
Back from walkies with Sparky on a lovely outdoor morning.
The Evil Lions have come from behind to win 1-2 at Oxford . Bob will not be pleased.
Im back after workout but no shower yet as the teams walk out at OT
Going to get my SS link on my phone now
They're off from OT
Glad to see Rash isn't hurt... he went straight down the tunnel midweek
We are off
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN UNITED!
Ibra has shot inside 30 secs... weak effort but better than conceding
Zlatan straight at former United trainee, Tom Heaton.
And off from SFL in a battle of lasts season's top two teams.
remembrance of Remembrance Day at WHL
I heard that Miki may be moving to Lazio in January. Your thoughts???
Useless cross by Lingard.. hit Ibra...he's big
United win their first corner of the match
Corner to United... score a boatload please...terrible corner almost makes a chance
Why is Blind taking it? He doesn't do it well
Ipswich take an early lead vs bottom Rotherham
Agreed. United should have done better.
Cambridge hosts Pompey. Which team will you be rooting for?
Watford all over Hull
Play up Pompey
Pompey Play up
Mata with another shot
Nice passing...again a weak shot
Great passing from United , but Mata with a weal shot straight to the keeper ,w ho started at the MUFC Academy.
I guess that was a pretty emphatic answer.
Isn't this the kid of game to put Miki in the Roon/Mata position?
Bradford City takes the lead at the Real Dons
Rotherham tie it up quick time!!
Ibra with a bad chip pass and then not a great shot to follow
Brighton take the lead vs Norwich
The cellar dwellars tie it up at PR.
Blades take lead vs Fake Dons
Chris Hughton will be determined to win this one against the club that sacked him
I t looks like Miki will be playing against the likes of Joe Hart in Serie A in January
Bob and Kate are being tough hosts today , probably because the Terriers, from near Leeds, are the visitors. Kate gives the Cottagers the lead.
I miss the way United used to play...watched some youtube stuff...they were so fast and deadly
That's what you get when you have two wingers, Scholes, partnership up front...Hughes Cantona, Cantona Cole, Cole Yorke, Solskjaer Sheringham, RVN Cole, RVN Roon, Roon Tev Berba...sign
I don't get it about Miki...surely he can't leave after having ONE start
Bolton takes the lead vs Port Vale
Reading take the lead at home to Forest...only Championship team without a clean sheet are Forest
That was a fun United side to watch
Speed up the play United
All of those Uniteds!!!
I would add Greenhoff and Pearson as well
Once Jose dislikes a player it seems that there is not a way back. Why the big transfer fee if he doesn't like the player?
City had a goal disallowed for offside... correct decision apparently
Nolito...head butts a player and gets a yellow...should have been a red
How about a front two of Birtles and Andy Ritchie?
Ibra misses a great chance...great pass by Mata
BURY IT IBRA
Great block from the former MUFC Academy keeper from Zlatan off a superb through ball from Mata
we'll forget them
Also Davenport and Brazil
Kasper does well to save a powerful; long range effort from Della Alli that felt lke a sucker punch.
Commentator says an important thing...ONLY Ibra in the box... get in the box!!!!!!!
Top of the table Plymouth are leading vs Colchester
Agreed. Possibly even Ray Wilkins , who would have fit perfectly into the current system. A potential python for mastering the silly walk of always walking sideways.
Sergio gives City the lead
Rangers takes the lead vs Killie while Nessie takes the lead vs the Queen of Hearts
Derby take the lead vs Wednesday on Saturday
I guess Steve Mac is making a difference at the Ipro
Sam Vokes catches it in the chin from a high boot from Darmian.
Real Dons tie it up
What a rise for them... well above the Fake Dons. Must feel good to go up all the tables and over take the team that took your position
That works well for Bob in the PPP.
Bolton three up inside 22 minutes
Relegation helps sometimes...just like Toon
I'm surprised that Wally returned to the Imac. He was sacked for a horrific slump that cost them a spot in the playoffs. Was that a wise choice?
Scoreless for United after 20 minutes...the norm for Old Trafford sadly
Agreed about Bolton. Real Dons fans must love their rise above their evil namesakes.
Mata with another shot....still not brilliant finishing
Barnsley take the lead vs Bristol C...that helps our Bob
Has Pogpants touched the ball
Heaton pushes away a shot from Mata and Lingard has a shot deflected for another corner. Arfield heads away the next corner and Hendrick is fouled.
Stupid foul by Ibra
Yes . Very much so for Bob. That's a fact not idle gossip. Correct?
