Premier League Footie on the Road
Greetings from Alexandria! I'm in the road this week attending a conference and visiting family in DC. After a long week of conferencing, it's a pleasure joining you for what promises to be a super day of the English domestic footer. We get started early with Chelsea v. Citeh at 7:30am. That's followed by the usual 10am EST kickoffs, including Spurs v. Swansea. And then we wrap things up at 12:30am EST with the London derby between Arse and the Hammers. Grab a cuppa and join me here on the LOB.

Less than three weeks until Christmas, and like frantic festive shoppers, teams in the title race need to get their act together. The team top on Christmas Day has won the league in nine of the last 12 seasons, so there’s no better time for a team to take pole position – particularly with a flurry of heavyweight fixtures to come, starting today.
Good morning, mate. I'm here to join you . How are things at Chateau Gooner?
Morning, MUR - I've had a great few days here and looking forward to a morning of footer with family.
Here's the team news out of the Etihad:
Man City: Bravo; Otamendi, Stones, Kolarov; Sané, Gündogan, Fernandinho, Silva, De Bruyne, Navas; Agüero.
Subs: Sagna, Zabaleta, Fernando, Caballero, Clichy, Touré, Iheanacho.
Chelsea: Courtois; Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Cahill; Moses, Fàbregas, Kanté, Alonso; Pedro, Costa, Hazard.
Subs: Begovic, Ivanovic, Oscar, Willian, Batshuayi, Chalobah, Aina.
Referee: Anthony Taylor (Cheshire)
It starts with a moment's silence due to a tragedy that took the lives of a Brazilian fooite team
It's the battle of the blues and the Motd kicks off from the Etihad.
Citeh get us underway wearing their traditional sky blue against Chelski in their traditional navy blue. Remarkable that they're able to wear those kits.
It's Sky vs Royal.
Hazard is down after an early clash with Fernandinho.
I agree or at least until it's made illegal.
Nice interplay between Hazard and Costa on the edge of the box by Hazard's shot is blocked by Stones.
Stones blocks a shot from Hazard as the royals attack early.
If this match ends in a draw and Pool win at the Cherries tomorrow then I move up the PPP table.
A shock start North of the border as Motherwell take an early lead vs Celtic
David Silva goes on a run and wants a penalty for hand ball on Cahill, but gets a corner . A penalty would have been harsh as it was ball to hand.
Citeh are dominating possession but Chelski look more dangerous when they break.
Costa wins a tackle a stones throw from goal, but Citeh get away with it as they are being troubled with Chelsea's high press.
That's a distinct possibility, MUR. I tend to favor a draw in this match.
Fred is on my desk, joining us for the early action. He wants the blue team to win.
Leeds matches are BEIN shown on the telly on a regular basis . A late on vs Villa oday followed by a Friday nighter at Brighton beach this coming Friday
Both Aguero and Moses now down requiring treatment. This one is pretty choppy so far.
Both teams have a player down naughty by Cahill on Aguero and a biblical sin by Fernandinho as he fouls Moses.
Lovely Jubbly!
A first time effort from Hazard is inches wide.
We're going to watch the late one over at Dad's where there is no wireless coverage or BEin, so we'll likely DVR the the match and watch it later. So, no updates by text please.
A couple of Championship matches have been played. A real upset yesterday as Forest defeated the Toon 2-1. On Thursday , Paul Lambert's Wolves won 1-2 at Ian Holloway's QPR. Your thoughts?
Citeh nearly capitalize on some loose play in Chelski's midfield.
Otamendi picks up a yellow card for a tackle on Costa who makes a meal of it. Harsh.
Otamendi fouls Costa and is booked. It looks a harsh one on the replay and he will be suspended for Citeh's match at the Foxes next weekend.
Courtois did well to tip over a long range effort from Aguero.
Now it's Pedro down after having his heel stamped on. It's a pattern of this match.
Pedro is now down for Chelsea, needing treatment.
Graeme Le Sox calls this "intriguing," but in truth the goalkeepers haven't been tested yet.
Courtois just tipped over a long range effort from Aguero, I guess from a tactical point of view , but not from an attacking sense.
Did you see the results that I posted at 7:46?
GOAL !!!! No, It's not as Fernandinho headed in a free kick from De Bruyne, but it was disallowed for offside then Chelsea went up the other end of the pitch as Hazard broke, rounded Baravo, but found a sea of blue shirts, sky blue not royal
Great tackle by the Side show on Aguero for a Citeh corner off a great long ball from Kolorov.
GInger Winger preparing to swing a free kick, Fernandinho nods it in and it's called back for offsdie.
Yikes ! Motherwell go two up vs Celtic.
Victor Moses wins a corner off of Leroy Sane.
A chrous of boos off a poor back pass from Azpi as the Side Shpw appeared to take a cheap shot on Aguero. It was not called and would have been an early bath for the Chelsea defender.
That could easily have been a red card for Sideshow. Referee Taylor not moved.
Great block from Aguero by Azpi in the box.
Great clearance now by Sideshow who might not have been on the pitch.
It's Sideshow and Aguero together again and Sideshow does well this time, conceding the corner.
Another great block by the Side Show as Citeh win another corner that yet again comes to naught.
A real upset brewing North of the border as MotherWell are two up vs Celtic at the half . Well done to them
Wow - that would be quite a result.
Aguero is just wide with a left footed volley off a great cross from De Bruyne
Another big decision for Referee Taylor as Silva goes over Conte's leg in the area. Nothing doing.
Did Kante foul Aguero in the box?
Neither Aguero nor Costa have scored. who is their nearest rival in the goal scoring race?
It would be the brave man who would predict the result in this match. Could easily be a draw but it could also be decided by one incident.
GOAL!!!!!
Gary Cahill sticks it in his own net on the stroke of halftime!
GOAL !!!! CAHILL GIFTS CITEH THE LEAD WITH A SPECTACULAR VOLLEY INTO HIS OWN NET FOR A SPECTACULAR OG OFF A GREAT CROSS FROM NAVAS.
Nice ball in from Navas and it's turned in tidily by Cahill.
1-0 Citeh!
Into two minutes of stoppage time/.
Spot on mate. Quite an incident . Aguero and Costa would have been proud of that finish. Better than any OG I scored.
To answer your earlier question, after Aguero and Costa on 10, Alexis Sanchez has 8 and then there are several players on 7 (Lukaku, Defoe, Hazard, Zlatan).
It's halftime and Citeh are one up thanks to a spectacular volleyed OG by Cahill just minutes ago. Prior to the goal It was a fairly even match
Thanks ,mate. Any one of those players are capable of catching Costa and Aguero this weekend.
Celtic have pulled back a goal at Motherwell as they now trail 2-1.
The second half is underway in the battle of the Blues Brothers
We're back on for the second half now - no changes as of yet.
The Side Show clears for a Citeh corner
Great block by Courtois from De Bruyne in a Belgian clash as he received the ball from Silva, who went on a long solo run/
Great break from Sane but Ginger Winger was a bit greedy going for goal rather than returning it.
Costa slices wide off a pass from Victor Moses.
Willian is on for Pedro.
Conte has seen enough - Willian comes on for Pedro. Why not make that change at the break?
Kante picks up a yellow card there for a bit of a stamp.
Agreed. I'm not sure what would be accomplished in four minutes and his replacement doesn't so any better as Willian slices a shot horribly wide.
Oh - Cahill clears off the line after a mix up in the Blues defense allowed Aguero in.
Gary Cahill clears off the line from Aguero that comes off Courtois for a corner after a horrible back pass.
Sure - what coach would say to a player - "I'm giving you four minutes to show me something!" It's absurd!
Which blues, LOL?
Now it's Sideshow landing on Aguero's ankle.
Aguero is injured off the resulting corner as he collides with the Side Show. Not great viewing.
Oh - how did Ginger Winger miss that absolute sitter?!
OH!!! De Bruyne misses wide open goal! Gundogan found Navas on a Citeh break and he played a great ball into the box. De Bruyne then had a shot come off the top of the bar and out for a goal kick. It was a wide open, gaping goal.
Celtic have come from two down at the half to make it Desmond at Motherwell.
GOAL! Oh - that is brilliant from Costa!
Long ball from Fabregas, but it's Costa's chest control and then ability to muscle Otamendi out of the way to make the room for a shot that is most impressive. His 11th of the season!
1-1!
GOAL !!! 1-1 COSTA SCORES WITH A NEAR POST FINISH PAST BRAVO. A FABULOUS LONG BALL FROM FAB WAS TRAPPED BY COSTA. HE TURNED OTAMENDI AND BEAT BRAVO WITH A NEAR POST FINISH. CHELSEA'S FIRST SHOT ON TARGET
Now he is solo GBB. Sorry mate.
Oh - Aguero was in there but lingered on it a bit too long and allowed Courtois to set himself for the shot.
Great close range save by Courtois from Aguero. Kante was tackled by De Bruyne , who found Aguero.
Not going my way now - I needed a Citeh win and a couple of goals from my pal Sergio.
It was a brief appearance for Desmond in the match between Celtic and Motherwell. It was Desmond about three minutes ago, but now 3-3.
What a ding dong up there north of the border!
A wild one at Well. Three goals in three minutes . Celtic scored to make it Desmond then a minute later Well regained the lead, making it 3-2, but a minute after that the Hoops tied it up at 3-3. Are we watching the wrong match? Desmond stayed for a mere 60 seconds.
Clichy on for Sane. Where will he play as Citeh now have two left backs on he pitch, unless Kolorov goes to the center of defense.
Clichy on for Sane now - looks like Pep is settling for a draw now.
GOAL! Quick as you like Costa sets Willian free and he races down the pitch and finishes with aplomb with his right foot.
1-2!
The Brazilian players displaying their black armbands after that goal.
GOAL !!!! WILLIAN GIVES CHELSEA THE LEAD ON THE BREAK seconds after Chelsea cleared a ball played in from Gundogan in the Ccelsea box. the ball made it to costa, who went on a great turn and played through willian , who scored with a great finish past bravo.
Great save by Courtois from Silva
That looks a great substitution from Conte as Chelsea look set to remain top of the pops.
Willian is down after that challenge and Ginger Winger knocks is out sportingly.
Chelsea have scored with their only two shots on target while Citeh have had many on target, but only scored once.
I guess Citeh can consider themselves unlucky to be trailing, but they have been caught out and missed some really great chances.
Yaya on for Gundogan. Can he inspire Citeh to come from behind in the final quarter of an hour?
Now that Citeh are behind, Pep has to reconfigure his plan, bringing Yaya and now Ienacho on.
A striker for a defender as Ihenacho is on for Stones. Pep realizes that Citeh have to throw caution to the wind as they need to come from behind
Thomas Rogic , the Aussie international, gives a Celtic a really late lead for the first time this match. It's now 3-4 at Well headed into stoppage time.
Citeh should have had this one wrapped up in the first half.
Navas booked for a shirt pull.
Agreed. Bravo fumbles from the free kick, but gathers at the second attempt.
Yaya wins a corner off of Willian while Costa is down, supposedly injured.
He may not be faking as he asks to be substituted. He will be replaced by Nat Chalobah one of the few youngsters to make it from the Chelsea Academy.
Ihenacho heads well wide off the corner from Silva
Celtic came form 0-2 down at the half to win a wild one by 3-4 at Well with a late winner.
Silva wins a corner off of compatriot, Azpi. Silva's corner is cleared away
Pep mocks the refs in really hilarious fashion. He must be auditioning for " Carry on Ref!"
GOAL! Hazard seals an impressive win for Chelski!
1-3 - wow!
The finishing has been the difference between the sides today. Citeh had plenty of chances today but missed them all.
GOAL !!!! GAME, SET,AND MATCH AS HAZARD PUTS CHELSEA 1-3 UP WITH YET ANOTHER BREAK FROM YET ANOTHER LONG CLEARANCE DEEP IN THEIR OWN HALF. THIS TIME , MARCUS ALONSO FOUND HAZARD AL ALONE UP FRONT AND HE SCORED WITH A CLINICAL FINISH PAST BRAVO AS WE START HALF A DOZEN MINUTES OF STOPPAGE TIME.
Agreed, mate . Chelsea have been really clinical while Citeh spurned many chances.
The 10 Am matches include a trip to SFL for Bob Bradley that will be shown on CNBC while it's Palace vs the Saints on CNBC. I'm opting for the one on NBCSN
The final roll of the dice by Conte is a really late Belgian swap as Batshuyai is on for Hazard
a fight breaks out as Aguero makes a late challenge on the Side Show. It goes all wrong for Citeh late on as AGuero is sent off and will miss the next three matches.. it will be four if he doesn't go off soon.
Oh my - Fernandinho has been sent off at the end of this one.
Now Fernandinho is sent off as Citeh are down to nine and Fernandinho tries to get in an altercation with Antonio Conte. He may be in for a lengthy suspension. Fans have to be restrained as well.
It's over as Chelsea win 1-3 at Citeh , who will be without two key players the next three matches. Not looking good for Citeh. Pep and Conte sportingly shake hands.
Full-time - Chelski will remain on top another week after an impressive win for them here at the Etihad.
They're off from SFL as I just got back from walkies
Sunshine is about to be fed brekkies as his beloved Spuds kick off.
As I was feeding Sunshine brekkies, I came back to see Kyle Walker with a nasty head injury. It came off a challenge with Neil Taylor.
I'm back for the Spuds - Gooner is humoring me with watching that. Are their any other matches being televised?
Hey Boys
I have around and about today
Sorry I haven't been on LOB
I'll be for a bit
Still have to go walkies!
There is a match on CNBC
Palace Soton

West Brom one up against Watford
Morning, UWS - I'm at the Gooner's this weekend. How are you, mate?

Harry Kane is flagged offside and misses an open goal to boot.
Im good
Another long week at school
Very depressing
I picked both for promotion.
Fulham ahead against Reading
Did you know a game was going on at yours when you are away
When do you go on vacation? My last day is the 16th , which makes the 17th a very Happy birthday indeed.
Flappy does well to flap over a header from Harry Kane/
Decent header there by Harry Kane and it's tipped over.
All Sunderland against the Champs but no goals yet
Stoke take the lead vs Burnley
Sorry to hear that, mate - nearly Christmas break, eh?
That's breaking and entering, which is illegal. Serves Jaap's lads right for such unruly behavior.
Fred took that as an invitation to irk Sparky since he has a similar color coat to a fox. I don't see that as a valid excuse.
Thanks
The break can't be shorter tho!!
Have school all the way until the 23rd
Jon Walters with that goal for Sparky's lads. That's Hughes, nit Goldstein
El Classico has just begun... I don't give two hoots!
I hate it the way they all try and win Oscars for the 90 minutes
WOW!!!, but you probably go back later than me. I go back on Jan 2nd.
Agreed about El Classico. For some reason, you must be talking about Messi , Skippy , Neymar, and Biscuits.
Those two reds late on will really hurt City
I think we have the 2nd off but back the 3rd!
Agreed. Both are three match bans. It may be more from Fernandinho for the afters.
When are you off for break?
That's when my students come back. The 2nd is a work day for us.
My last day is Friday the 16th, my birthday is the 17th , and I go back on the 2nd. The girls last day is the 20th, Jacquelyn's birthday is the 21st, and they go back on the 4th.
Richard Burton takes the lead vs Rotherham in a battle of small Championship teams.
Wycombe Wanderers smoke their way to a two goal lead at Chesterfield in the Cup.
Goal at Selhurst.... To Palace
Le Tis is not a happy camper
Morton won by half a dozen at Beith in the Scots Cup. Stranraer drawing 1-1 vs East Kilbride while Stenhousemuir go two up vs Forres Mechanics. I won't take my car to Forres or any repairs.
I wonder if we should be watching that match
Big mistake by Forster to give Benteke a tap in on his birthday!
A swing and miss and hits his standing foot
Baggies two up against the Hornets
A must win for Alan Pardew as Palace have lost half a dozen in a row.,
West Brom have scored more goals than United this season!
Stoke two up vs Burn
Unusual for Forster.
So are you two still considering retiring in the next couple of years?
I'd love to be off that early!!
A few years back we had two full weeks off for a couple of years in a row. Christmas on a Tues or Wed is best for me
Palace TWO up
Bristol City take the lead vs Ipswich. I wish that was idle gossip.
I have four years to go after this year
Correct. Two and a half years till I retire. whatever I do after that will be outside education except for some part time tutoring.
Good news for Our Bob
Blackburn should be 4 down but it is 1-1 vs Hudders
Cheltenham take the lead at Sutton United.
James Thomkins with that second Palace goal.
Ive just heard from Luton... that my aunt is ill...no they are two down to Sullihull
Ref takes forever to make a decision... Penalty Spurs
Penalty to Spurs - that was a total dive!
PENALTY TO THE SPUDS AS NEIL TAYLOR IS CALLED FOR A CLIP ON DELLE ALLI ON THE EDGE OF THE BOX.
Don't think it was a pen
Delle caused the contact
Kane....one nil
Harry Kane converts!
1-0 Spuds
GOAL !!!!HARRY KANE SCORES WITH A WELL PLACED PENLATY , SENDING FLAPPY THE WRONG WAY
I am off for walkies
I'll be back
TTFN
I totally agree with you, UWS. Never a pen. No contact at all.
I hate the fact that Delle Alli went down so theatrically. Flappy agrees as he talks himself into the book. I'm sure Jose will have plenty to say about Mr. Moss.
Oh - Deli Alli is in again. Flappy does well to stand up to him.
Delle Alli is through , but Flappy does well with a close range block.
Cheers , UWS. Enjoy
Muniesa puts Stoke two up vs Burnley.
Donny Trump has gone three up at Stevenage, probably padded with illegal votes. Yeovil goes two up vs Crawley. Both are L2 matches.
Enjoy the lovely weather, mate.
GOAL! Great strike by Number One Son!
GOAL !!!!NUMBER ONE SON PUTS THE SPUDS TWO UP WITH A GREAT FINISH AS WE ENTER STOPPAGE TIME
Shame - I've got a soft spot for Swansea now that Bob Bradley is there. I'm hoping that they can escape the drop.
