Saturday's Here Again!
It's been a long, long first week of the semester for me, so I can't wait to put up my feet with a cuppa by my side and several hours of footer on the telly. It's a good line-up, too. Liverpool v. Swansea right off the bat. Can the Swans bounce back or will it be a Reds clinic? Then we've got the usual 10am EST kickoff array, including ManYoo at Stoke. At 12:30, we'll need a split screen to catch Man Citeh v. Spurs and my beloved Leeds at Barnsley. Get comfy - it's going to be a good 'un. Join me!

Good morning. I'm up for Liverpool vs Swan Dive.
They're off from Anfield where the Swans have never won, but desperately need one
The first chance of the match as Emre Can Not find the target , heading over a great cross from Hendo as Pool were stroking the ball around
Fernandez heads out a cross for the first corner of the match off another long possession.. Pool keep possession off the corner.
Lallana with a really horrible cross as Pool won the ball deep in their own half and went on a great counter.
Another Pool as Fimrino turned Alfie Mowson off a pass from Clyne, but Lallana volleyed well over.,
Paul Clement must feel like he's at the beach dealing with a Red Tide.
A rare Swansea attack and Tom Carrol has pass come off of Loeveren and off the Side of the post for a corner that is taken by Siggy and headed away. Minnie was fooled by the deflection.
Not a Fer challenge as Pool win a free kick.
Back from the bog to discover that I did NOT miss a goal. Oh yah, I don't suffer from that curse.
Firmino has a shot blocked for a corner by Alfie Mowson off a tackle by Coutinho. The corner from Milner was headed out by Llorente.
Klavan is booked for fouling new signing, Martin Olsson, on a counter as he went on a solo run from a tackle he won.
The free kick from Siggy was just too long for Mowson and he shot harmlessly out of play.
Hendo has had a really poor first half as he's continuously passed to a white shirt.
Firmino heads well wide off a cross from Lallana after Pool won the ball in midfield.
My apologies for the late start, mate. I overslept my alarm after a late night date night with the missus. Thanks for getting us started this morning. I'm enjoying your comments.
It seems like from your comments that Liverpool have been making heavy weather of this unusually compact Swansea defense. We saw a hint of that last week at the Liberty against the Arsenal.
A minute if stoppage time.
Good morning, Bob. Great to have you on board. Glad to help out. You are correct on your assessment as it's 0-0 at the half.
A poor Liverpool first half comes to an end. Klopp's Liverpool attack have been thoroughly frustrated by Clements' Swansea defense.
Morning boys,
Glad I slept in for a goalless half...Im here for the second half
Good morning, UWS. You and Bob did well to sleep in late. Now that we are on board, it will hopefully be a more entertaining second half.
The teams for today's encounter at Anfield, btw:
Liverpool (4-3-3) Mignolet; Clyne, Lovren, Klavan, Milner; Can, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Lallana, Firmino, Coutinho.
Substitutes: Karius, Sturridge, Moreno, Lucas, Origi, Matip, Woodburn.
Swansea (4-2-3-1) Fabianski, Naughton, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson; Carroll, Cork; Routledge, Sigurdsson, Fer; Llorente.
Substitutes: Nordfeldt, Rangel, Amat, Fulton, Dyer, Borja, McBurnie.
Referee Mr Kevin Friend.
it's the dreaded box as Robbie Earle uses the Box Theory to describe why Pool are struggling to break them down
Liverpool need a draw or win to reclaim the second spot from Spurs. Swansea are about to get us underway.
The second half is underway.
I'd like to stick Robbie in a box and mail him to the North Pole!
We are off the second half
No shot on target by Pool?
The diagram from Robbie Earle reminded of the times I have taught hyperbolas . The box is Swansea and the hyperbola is the way Liverpool have been attempting to attack the Swans.
There is too much made up talk about tactics these days
Just get the ball forward, get the ball in the box, shoot the ball
YES!!!!!!!!!!!
SWANSEA TAKE THE LEAD!!
GOAL! My goodness! On their first attack, Fernando Llorente has scored!!!
Loveren heads out a cross from Fer for a corner and
GOAL!!!! LLORENTE WITH A SMASH AND GRAB EFFORT . FERNANDEZ HEADED DOWN THE DEEP CORER FROM SIGGY. POOL HESITATED AND FER PASSDED TO LLORENTE , WHO SMASHED HOME FROM CLOSE RANGE
He toe poked it thru his teammate's legs
Routine corner in and the Liverpool backline, especially Lovren really make a meal of clearing it. It drops fortuitously to the Spaniard who sticks it away. Is that his first goal for the Swans? It might be!
0-1!
I think that was the first shot on target by either team.
Morning, UWS - how are you, mate?
Problem is we are talking modern day football
Swansea will now just sit back and try and hold on... and fail because they stop playing
The gangs all here now and UWS and I brought an early goal which should open this one up.
The closest either team came to scoring in the first half was when a cross by Tom Carroll deflected off of Loveren off the side of the post. Otherwise, both teams didn't have their shooting boots on.
Im ok Bob..another long week at school
Interest BOE meeting this wee in Schenectady. Teachers stood up and talked about the schools being unsafe, the way teachers are treated and there being no consequences... I hope things change
Another poor Pool pass that is representative of Pool's play in the first half.
GOAL! Bloody hell! Llorente has done it again!
Oh my giddy aunt
TWO NIL
LOOK WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PUT IN. A GREAT CROSS
GOAL !!!! BLOODY HELL!!! LLORENTE AT THE DOUBLE AS HE SCORES HIS AND SWANSEA'S SECOND OF THE MATCH TO PUT POOL TWO UP.
Nothing fortunate about that one - a superb move from the Swans out wide right, great ball in and a towering, crashing center forward's header from the Spaniard.
0-2!
Swansea..keep attacking
Liverpool are really up against it now. This could be a turning point in their season - and Swansea's. This will totally open up the relegation race again if this result holds up.
I guess that moves the Swans out of the drop zone.
I agree, UWS, but I don't expect them too.
GOAL! Firmino has got one back for the Reds!
GOAL !!!! FIRMINO PULLS ONE BACK FOR THE REDS./
Bugger... that goal came too early
Boy we have made a difference for this half
Carbon copy on the end other from Liverpool. Great ball over from LUFC Academy and Firmino crushed the header.
1-2 Game on!
Why couldn't they have held on for a bit longer... a 3-2 Liverpool win here coming up
We certainly did. Apologies to the punters at Anfield for sleeping in past the alarm.
Sturridge is on for Coutinho
Sturridge on now to replace Coutinho. This could get interesting.
Absolutely , Bob and Dave. I always figured that a complete trio would result in goals.
Hendo has a long range effort easily saved by Flappy.
Sturridge was really horrible in the Cup replay at Argyle Sweater. Klopp will be hoping for better today
Klavan might be in trouble here - he's already on a yellow card. Routine obstruction I would say. Still....
A poor foul by Klaven on Llorente. He's already been booked . Will that be his second yellow?
I agree, Bob. He's got away with highway robbery.
Ref have bottled that
Didn't call anything because it would have been a second yellow
Bob will be pleased about that great cross from Milner. The second Swansea goal came as the Swans won a tackle in their own box. Clyne was caught out of position as the two new boys combined . Martin Olsson put Tom Carroll down the left and his great cross was headed in by Llorente.
Interesting comment about the schools. I will be retiring in tow years, so I don'y know if I will notice the effect. I hope things do improve, but based on what I've heard, not much will change in Texas and I've done okay so far. It may be more noticeable in the blue states and even then may not be noticed for at least three to four years.
Bloody hell - Swansea would leap from bottom to 17th and clear of the relegation zone with this result. What a turnaround! Palace supporters will be praying for another Liverpool goal.
I always hope for change in schools, too. I'm not confident about the leadership out of Washington, though, after watching Betsy DeVos' hearing. She knows nothing of what we do.
Also, Be wary of a new movement called schools of innovation or something of that type. Do NOT approve that. It calls for school districts to get exemptions from the law . Some are okay, but some such as messing with the school calendar and control over teacher contracts mean a district could make teachers at will employees, pending school board approval.
QPR still leading Fulham 1-0... good news for our Bob
She mentioned that she wants more choices such as magnet and charter schools, but we already have that, so how will that change things here? I have taught at a magnet school the past eighteen years. It doesn't sound like too much will change. I expect her to delegate most of the responsibility.
Bloody Hell
Desmond
GOAL! Desmond arrives at Anfield - Firmino again!
GOAL !!!! DESMOND'S IN THE HOUSE AS FIRMINO SCORES WITH A WELL PLACED VOLLEY.
3-2 here we come
Wijnaldum chipped up a lovely little cross but Firmino still had a lot to do to bring it down and then crash it past the keeper. Great goal.
2-2!
Swansea is back to second from bottom as it's tied up. A long possession resulted in a great LUFC Academy pass to Winjaldum and his cross was chested down and well place don the half volley by Firmino past a prostrate Swans defense.
More action in the past twenty five minutes than the entire inauguration yesterday!
Flappy just about steals it off Origi's toe there.
LOL! That is true - and a bigger crowd!
OMG... it is 3-2... but to Swansea!!!!
GOAL! Oh my! Swansea are back in the lead. We've got a right old ding dong here.
GOAL !! DESMOND IS USHERED OUT AS SIGGY PUTS THE SWANS 2-3 UP. UWS CALLED IT.
and I have to go to the loo
A bit fortunate again but the Swans deserve the good fortune for going back up the pitch. Ball deflected to Siggy who made no mistake with it.
2-3 Swansea!
You know wha that means, UWS!
Oh - that was nearly 3-3 - somehow Swansea clear it for a corner.
Still 15 minutes left - this could get to be a cricket score.
Oh - Origi turned and shot but Flappy did well again.
It all started with a long punt by Flappy. The swans zipped the ball around like we haven't seen in a while. it was one of the new boys as Tom Carroll has his second assist of the day . His pass deflected off a Pool player and was well placed by Siggy.
Leroy did a Fer job holding on to the ball there.
Did you get a glimpse of the inauguration bullocks? The girls and I had a good laugh as El Preisdente looked like Fred Flintstone on the dance floor.Tuppence and Melania were actually decent
BOOM BOOM! It's a fair Kop.
Fulham tie it up at Loftus Road
Flappy does well to tip over a long range effort from Loveren. The corner from Milner is headed away
Kate cleaning up at your neighbor's house.
Less than 10 minutes for Swansea to hold out for a historic win.
No Carrick
No Rooney
No Martial
I don't even see that match on my link.
Hopefully, no Potters goals. Are they being saved for the second leg of the semi on Thursday?
I did my due social studies diligence and watched the Oath of Office and address. Tiny crowd, Tweet-length speech, sheer bollocks.
United's line up
De Gea
Valencia
Jones
Smalling
Blind
Fellaini
Herrera
Pogba
Mata
Ibra
Miki
Bench
Rooney
Lingard
Carrick
Rashford
Romero
Schweiny
Darmian
Don't know why Rashford doesn't play
One thing about this squad that United haven't had in the previous couple of seasons... game changing bench
Borja is on for two goal hero, Llorente.
Oh - what a miss from Lallana!
OH!!! Nearly 3-3 as Jack Cork cleared on to his own bar then Lallana headed inches over the bar.
People are saying it is Chelsea's title to lose but Spur and Pool are in it but the Manc teams aren't
A win by United today would put them 2 points behind Pool
Not liking United's midfield... why play with the line up Jose
Pogba should have been benched for last weekend's performance
That's basically your team these days, with the possible exception of Carrick for Hair Bear.
Swansea have a rare free kick. Siggy takes but gets it all wrong.
Rangers tie it up at home to Motherwell in the Cup
Siggy bends a free kick well wide.
Do Liverpool have it in them to turn this around late on?
Five minutes of stoppage time - where did that come from?
It is a top 6 team losing...LOTS of added time to be added
I called it
5 minutes...why?
Something has to be done about this timing
Palace in the bottom three as I type
Bob is correct. Nearly a full strength lineup with the exception of Hair Bear. I agree with UWS that Pogba should be dropped.
Another booking do to an un Fer challenge.
AN interesting pub question could come up at the end of the season. Who is the first person to manage England and get a team relegated in the same season? Could happen.
Pool's undefeated home Prem streak is in jeopardy.
I want Sam to go down so people stop saying he's never been relegated... same with Pulis too
Don't waste time with injuries Swansea.... now it will be seven minutes
Swansea are twinning because they are riding the Llorente Express!
Fat Sam was relegated with Notts County in the Naughties, but they won promotion the following season./
They've nearly done it now.
Matip on for Wijnaldum W. What's the point of that?
Liverpool going back to keeper...modern players are morons
Flappy grabs the ball and that might just be that.
some people complaining that United did long ball stuff v Liverpool last week... don't know if they did but what's wrong with that...get the ball forward into a dangerous area... why pass it around in the midfield when you need a goal
YES!!!!!!!!!!!
Swansea have won!!
Liverpool's defense was always going to be their undoing this season. But I didn't expect that.
Swansea win at Anfield - first loss here in 25 matches!
That Palace v. Sunderland match is now enormous!
The Swans win 2-3 at Anfield and move out of the drop zone.
Now Liverpool have Southampton coming up midweek being one down after the first leg...COME ON YOU SAINTS
Rangers score a last minute winner in the Cup north of the border
Rangers...from London... draw 1-1 vs Fulham
Now over to United... not sure I like the side!
Bournemouth hosting a free falling Watford... I think I picked them going down!
got my iPhone link going strong!
Paul Clement, the Swansea boss, is English... don't know why I thought he was French
cockney in fact
Teams gathering in the tunnels around the country now.
Is the Leeds match on BEIN?
I am watching by phone link and they will have the Leeds match on late unless the bloke turns the channel
Pompey's match at Crawley is off because of the weather
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
We are off
Pogba better have a blinder
I'm back with Brekkies for the kickoff at the Britannia.
I know I'll have to go walkies between the 10 o'clockers and the late one
Unfortunately, not. No love for Yorkshire on BEin today.
Goal at Ewood... Brum take an early lead from the spot
Zola really needs a win
Back for the matches. I will need to leave in a half hour to take Melanie All State solo and ensemble auditions. I should be around for the second half.
You should be able to watch it on the phone unless the bloke changes it
Good luck in audition
First goal of the day - and Birmingham have taken the lead against Blackburn. Lukas Jutkiewicz has slotted a penalty home to make it 1-0.
Jose has lost 2 of his 3 league visits to Stoke
come on United... attack the rectangle ahead of you
Derby are playing Reading... draw there Bob?
Huddersfield host Town
United try and break... card for Stoke
Crawley vs Pompey and the Orient Express vs Morecambe and Wise have been postponed. The Daggers vs Bromley and Woking Vs Trannie have been postponed as well. What's up with the weather in the London area?
Do something with it United... straight into the keeper's hands..he drops it... United do nothing
Arnautovic with the booking
Town lost at Conference leaders Abe Lincoln, being badly outplayed.,Surely Mick and Terry Connor and being readied for a walk down the plank.
Wally in a Brolly can talk about working with SAF while managing on the touchjline
Palace go close a couple of times vs Everton
Benteke has come close for Palace in that crucial match against Everton.
Cambridge take the lead vs Jane Mansfield
Andy Carroll heads the Hammers into the lead from a corner at the Riverside.
Andy Carroll has scored a trademark header for the Hammers against Boro.
West Ham take the lead down by the Riverside
It's all United so far at the Britannia.
Being on top of Jayne sounds very sexy. The scoreline is.
United with a corner.. it will come to nothing...I called it..Useless delivery
Thanks for the good luck wishes.
Pogba still hasn't paid me back for last week's performance
See what happens when you put in a good delivery from a corner.
Carroll with the Hammers' goal... he should still be part of the England set up... he impacts games
He still owes a few Bob on the transfer fee.
Pogpants slipping over again!
He was out injured until a few games ago. I think he was injured for the last few England matches. If he's fit then why not?
Miki a tad late on the challenge on Charlie Adam and Trevor Eve.
Barkley high and wide with an effort on goal.
Hughes was a fantastic player for United but he is one of the ex reds that annoy me. He seems to be anti United for some reason
Norwich take the lead vs Wolves
Hennessey with a spectacular save from a volley from Mirallis off a cross from Gareth Barry.
you watching Goal Zone David?
United don't get enough players in the box
Bloody Hell
Stoke take the lead
How did that go in
Two L1 matches postponed : Southend vs Bolton and Charlton vs Scunny. Every match cancelled today is in the London metro area. what gives?
Smalling OG
BUGGER! STOKE TAKE THE LEAD.
Bloody hell!
No, Mata OG
Looks to be off Juan Mata. What a nonsense! Get it back!
Come on Ibra.. stay awake
Reading take the lead at Pride Park
sigh... Mata's free kick fails to beat the first man...IT IS BASIC!!!
I wonnder if that will go down as an OG. That effort from Pieters wasn't going in prior to the deflection.
Great passes from Wee Joe and Arnautovic, bit Stoke got really lucky with that deflection which really did Mata.
Goal there in the Championship, as Reading have taken the lead against Derby, prising the Rams’ defence apart for John Swift to bag one. 1-0 Reading.
Not a good goal for us.
I don't think it was. It was going across the box
