Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The 4th Round draw is about to begin in a few minutes.
Leeds have got an away draw with either Sutton or AFC Wimbledon - tasty!!
The teams gathering in the tunnel at Cambridge now:
Cambridge: Norris, Taylor, Legge, Roberts, Adams, Newton, Dunne, Clark, Berry, Mingola, Ikpeazu. Subs: Williamson, Dunk, Gregory, Maris, Pigott, Davies, Darling.
Leeds: Silvestri, Berardi, Jansson, Cooper, Denton, Grimes, Phillips, Dallas, Mowatt, Doukara, Antonsson. Subs: Green, Bartley, Roofe, Wood, O'Kane, Vieira, Coyle.
Not happy with that at all - eight changes to the side that beat Rotherham last week. I'm not sure that Gary Monk is taking this match seriously enough. I understand that we've got Derby on Friday but I don't like it.
Off we go on a heavy pitch in East Anglia - both sides wearing their traditional kits.
Early fright for us with Berry getting in behind our lot. Corner.
We look nervous from the start - don't like it.
Oh - that's better. Off the post from Antonsson! He meant to cross but it fooled the keeper Norris.
Oh - more frighteners from us. Liam Cooper tried to play out of the back and Ngoye nearly caught out Silvestri at the near post. Phew!
Cambridge really closing our backline down really effectively in the early days. Will they be able to keep up the gegenpressen?
If we didn't know before, we know now that we're in for a real battle with this L2 side tonight. You can't take anyone for granted, especially on their own patch.
Good afternoon, Bob. I will be around for the second half. We were held to a 0-0 draw by the Us in LVGs first season in charge of us.
We're gradually working our way into this match. Our passing is getting the better of Cambridge.
Afternoon, MUR - thanks for joining me for the second, mate.
Free kick chance now as Luke Berry is fouled - he's the danger man.
Nice from Berry - well wide. Keep it up, lad!
MOT!!!!
Jansson's got a problem now. I think his hand was trod on by the Cambridge forward. Monk is taking the time to talk tactics with the others.
A quarter of an hour gone and we're still in a battle here. I'd like a goal about now to quieten the crowd.
Some patient build-up but no punch up front so far.
Kalvin Phillips dives in and gets a yellow card for it.
Now Jansson has fouled Berry in a dangerous position. Yellow card for him as well. Come on!
BUGGER!!!!
I had a feeling that was coming. The Berry free kick was rubbish, but it came free to Ikpezua and he turned Berardi and beat Silvestri at his near post. Really poor from us all around.
1-0 Cambridge
Now it's Berardi who's into the ref's book. Come on, lads!
We're looking really shaky now.
Half an hour gone now. We have no rhythm at all. I want Roofe and Wood on for the second half.
More frighteners from Cambridge. I'm sick of this.
Sorry , mate. MOT!
Crikey - that one went straight through the area from the corner. This is dire!
Thanks, mate - we've been shocking so far.
I am joining you for the action where it's still 1-0. Garry Monk is not being a friend to Kevin Friend as he obviously disagrees with some refereeing decisions
Kalvin Phillips fouled Ikpezua off the ball. Thankfully, the free kick came to naught
Oh - best moment of the half for us. Mowatt got the ball about forty yards out and hit a vicious dipping shot that Norris did well to tip over.
Better from Leeds as Norris tips over a long range effort from Kalvin Phillips.
Sorry. Mowatt, not Phillips.
Oh - Cooper met a great corner there and Norris saved really well. Better!
Norris with a kick save from a header off the corner. The next corner is cleared.
Welcome, mate - I'm on pins and needles here. We haven't been good so far but could have scored a couple of times there. I'd love to see us peg them back before the interval.
Better from Leeds since I turned on the link.A coincidence?
Agreed. That would be great momentum for the second half.
Antonsson is completely alone up front, given that Doukara is playing so deep.
Leeds played Cambridge in the old Second Division in the 1982-83 and 1983-84 seasons. Were you aware of that?
Two minutes of stoppage time.
A standing ovation for the Us as they lead 1-0 at the half. Hoping for some Leeds goals in the second half.
Time's nearly up now - maybe time for one more chance. Now that's the interval. Bugger!
Well, that was shocking. 1-0 down at the half. I've got a few phone calls to make now but I'm hoping that Gary Monk can inspire much, much better in the second half.
We're back on at the Abbey Stadium for the second. Come on, you Whites!!
The second half is underway from the Abbey
Coyle has come on for Berardi then. That's not the change I would have made but I'm hoping that our quality and fitness will win out in the end.
Signs that this is a lower vision stadium is evident by the fact that fans are literally inches away from players coming out of the narrow tunnel as Leeds players were poked and fans gave them their tuopence worth
We still appear to be taking this one as a training pitch exercise - I don't see any urgency yet.
Yeah - that is fun to say. That's my memory of the ground too.
I saw that we face Wigan at home in the Fourth Round. Surely , we should win that. Interesting that you could play at Sutton given the quiz question yesterday.
Mingola tried one there - well blocked by Denton.
Weak punch by Silvestri there but he did well to tip over the rebound.
Cambridge could have gone two up as Berardi was forced to punch away a swerving corner then had to tip over a close range effort
At this point, I'd be reasonably content with a draw and getting them back to our patch, even if it does mean adding another match to our schedule.
Then Silvestri is pressured into a poor clearance.
You could come from behind as the Gunners did on Saturday
If you go through any chance that you would hit Sutton for half a dozen as back in 1970. Will they break their record attendance that was in that match in 1970?
Hey Boys
I am back from school
uh oh
I want another change now - nothing is really working yet.
Welcome, UWS - this has been absolutely dire so far. I hope you can bring us some Nocito mojo.
That could be a tasty draw for us but I'm just concerned about getting through this tie now.
I need to tell you about a link Jacquelyn sent me on FB. It asks how much of an asshole are you. It scanned my profile and said 96%. Does that sound right?
Good position for a shot from Mowatt but he didn't get anything behind it. Weak effort.
Good afternoon, UWS. I hope you can be a good luck charm of the Whites. Leeds ha d a couple of chances at the end of the first half.
Not at all, MUR - you're a prince among men.
GREAT GOAL!!!
Great cross... great header
YESSSSSS!!!!!!!
That's more like it. Great header from Stu Dallas for the equalizer!
1-1 Game on!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
BERARDI TIES IT UP WITH A WELL PLACED HEADER. THE BALL WAS PLAYED DOWN THE LEFT AND A GREAT CROSS WENT TO BERARDI, WHO OUT JUMPED HIS MARKER.
Am I ahead of you?
You did bring us luck, lads - thanks for joining me!
Sorry. it was from Dallas, but not Texas.
Our pleasure. Now time to make it work for the winner and a possible return to Sutton in SW London.
The stadium has changed a bit
The away end is quite big now...used to be very small
The tunnel didn't used to be at the center circle. It used to further to the right as we look
The goal I ballboyed behind and where Alan Biley stepped on my toe was the goal to the left
That was the move I was looking for - Kemar Roofe on for Doukara, who has looked out of sorts tonight. Roofe will terrorize the Cambridge backline.
Bob was hoping for this change as Kemar Roofe is on for Doukarra. He may have scored here last season in the Cambridge / Oxford contest
Great memories, UWS!
ooh, almost in again
Decent save
Great save by Norris from Antonsson as Leeds are starting to dominate. This is more like it.
Oh - great turn and shot by Antonsson! Super save by Norris to keep it out. He's been brilliant for them.
I second that. Fantastic info, UWS.
We need to push for the winner now - plenty of time.
It is.. I slipped over and fell on my butt while kicking the ball back to a keeper... two teenage girls laughed at me
Their dad told them to stop
I did see you started this with the 4th Round Draw... Home to Wigan...I'll take that
Not many great ties again
Wonder what Fox will choose
Coyle wins a good free kick chance now. We can float this one in.
Leeds with a free kick chance... went short!! Sigh
More pressure now - and we win a corner.
Hate to say this to you Bob but....Leeds are decent side!!!
TWO FOR LEEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great first hear...great second touch!!
YESSSSS!!!!!!!
Alex Mowatt rises to nod home!!!
1-2!
Now then - Chris Wood was being prepared to come on. He'll likely take a seat again and rest up for Derby.
Thatr leads to a corner and
GOAL !!!! A CORNER FROM DALLAS WAS HEADED ON BY ANTONSSON AND HEADED IN BY MOWATT FROM CLOSE RANGE. NOW 1-2 LEEDS.
Shaun Derry isn't a happy chappy any more.
That match vs the Rams is BEIN shown on Friday
my last comment
Great first header and great flick on header
The first header would have been saved off the line
This is more like it. How about some more Leeds goals?
What a good luck charm I am
Been here 10 minutes and there's been two goals
The U's make a change. Dunk on.
Conor Newton is on for Harrison Dunk, whose name matches what Leeds have been doing to Cambridge the last few minutes.,
I'll miss the first half of tomorrow's semi final
Not on my tv either. Hopefully will find a link
I'll have another one, UWS. Cheers!
MoT being sung with gusto
I'll do my best
Dunk On because Cambridge have been playing like Dunk On Donuts the second half.,
We must have brought a decent amount of support to East Anglia.
Ikpeazu with a fender bender on Liam Cooper and not even a ticket.
Cooper is limping now so we may have to make a change for him.
Mike's comment on WhatsApp said he didn't see many Leeds supporters as he came back from London
It looks like the Cooper will need a tune up at the auto shop.
It'll probably be the former Arsenal man Kyle Bartley coming on for him. Chris Wood can have a nap now.
There is room for perhaps 2,000 away fans, which is probably far less than their normal traveling support.
It sure is as he proxys since the Mini Copper is at the auto shop
Oh - Mowatt nearly had his brace there. Straight across the goalline.
Leeds will have a return to Sutton where they won 0-6 in 1970 or a rematch against the Real Dons , who held them 0-0 in 1975 before winning 0-1 in the replay thanks to an OG by Dave Basset
Offside is called on the free kick by Dunk. Bob will take that
Just about 15 minutes left to see out. We should keep pressing for another one.
Bad news about Liam Cooper, who had to be helped down the tunnel.
We must be hosting Wigan on a Sunday or Monday since the second leg of our EFL semi is on a Thursday
Roofe picks up a free kick. Played short (sigh)...
Semi second leg is the Thursday before?
Possibly a Monday night tie
Oh - Roofe did well to deliver a ball over but Antonsson couldn't get any power in the header. You'd have had that one, eh UWS?
I'm thinking that our cup tie will be on Sunday because there Prem matches Tuesday and Wednesday that week.
Just ticking off the minutes here, hanging on to the ball.
UWS would have put the cup tie to bed.
Playing it about for fun now.
Just about ten minutes left to see out. Keep it tight, lads.
Kalvin Phillips concedes an unnecessary free kick
Cambridge have a free kick now - don't like it.
The free kick is headed away then a shot is blocked for a corner.
Yes, unnecessary indeed.
PHEW!!!! Ikpeazu heads just wide with a free header.
Oh - Impeazu had a free header there. Jansson just about put him off.
The attendance is 7,973. I'm thinking Leeds probably brought about 1,000 fans
Biggest crowd of the season for tonight's match.
Didn't like that backpass or what Jansson did there. Clear obstruction.
A miscommunication between Antonsson and Sylvestri , but he gathers the through ball just ahead of Ikpeazu
Coyle took a knock there as he cleared. We've definitely been in the FA Cup wars tonight.
Mowatt is down after being Dunked. He gets up and is able to continue.
Sorry I have been on the phone
Leed almost there
Players are dropping like flies
The commentators seem to have lost track of the substitutions now. That's BEin level quality from them. Shocking.
Hang in there, lads!
Agreed. This was always going to be a tricky fixture. We needed a replay a couple of years ago.
One last roll of the dice now from Shaun Derry. Clark goes off - Williamson comes on. Attacking move.
Bloody short free kicks
Ben Williamson is on for Max Clark as the Us make a late change.
Free kick played short again (sigh)....
Struth....that was close
Crikey - Silvestri made a meal of that one. And Williamson could easily got on that one. Phew!
Decent save on second look...lucky with rebound
Leeds got away with one as Sylvestri pushed away a bouncing effort. The rebound was cleared to safety
Come on, Marco - pull your finger out. Only a few minutes left!
Four minutes of stoppage time.
Four minutes of stoppage time to come.
Ikpeazu has a shot that came back off the stand!!!
3 more added minutes before a trip to Sutton or Wimbledon...I'd keep away from the fake pitch
Desmond will definitely not come when shots are landing in Row T
How many changes did Leeds make for this match?
Good point, UWS.
Great tackle by Jansson - what a hero!
It seemed like three or four.
Great move leads to a corner, which will eat up some time.
Bob Dalhgrenish tackle
Corner flag routine comes acropper as Stu Dallas gets flagged for a push.
Roofe tries a Pele effort. Nowhere near close enough.
What was Roofe thinking with that ambitious long range effort? He needs to run down the clock.
Stupid foul...... why give them one more chance!!
That was unnecessary from Mowatt. Gave up a late free kick. Keeper Norris will come up.
Late free kick conceded by Mowatt and Norris, the Us keeper is up
Last chance saloon...cleared....IT IS OVER
LEEDS ARE THRU!!
Congrats mate
That's it!!!!!
We're through to the 4th Round and an away tie with either Wimbledon or Sutton United!
The free kick is headed out and that's it as Leeds hold on to win 1-2 and progress to the Fourth Round. Congratulations, Bob,
Cambridge really gave us a fright there but our quality shone through in the end.
It was great chatting. I may be around for the first few minutes of the match tomorrow. CHEERS!
Your side is coming good
Congrats again
Now it's our United's turn
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
I'm off home now, lads - thanks for helping us over the line!
