Springing Forward!
A very happy Spring Forward morning, chaps. I hope you're not feeling too sleep deprived to enjoy some of the good stuff from across The Pond. Keep in mind that we're now, only four hours behind our friends in Blighty. That means that this morning's FA Quarterfinal between Spurs and Millwall pops up on FS1 at 10am. That's followed with a sole Premiership clash between Liverpool and Burnley at noon. Join me for all of the spring action this morning, won't you?

It's Sunday afternoon in England, so Tottenham must be at home. They’ve made short work of Stoke and short-ish work of Everton at White Hart Lane on the last two weekends – but can they do the same against Evil Millwall today?
Celtic and Rangers are wrapping up the Old Firm Derby on FS1 as I tune in. 1-1 currently.
The teams now warming up at Shite Fart Lane:
Tottenham: Vorm; Trippier, Alderweireld, Dier, Vertonghen, Davies; Wanyama, Winks, Alli; Son; Kane. Subs: Lloris, Walker, Wimmer, Eriksen, Onomah, Sissoko, Janssen.
Millwall: King; Cummings, Craig, Williams, Webster; Wallace, Thompson, O’Brien, Cooper; Gregory, Morison. Subs: Girling, Hutchinson, Romeo, Butcher, Ferguson, Worrall, Onyedinma.
Good morning, Bob. I just got back from walking Sparky and have some coffee brewing on Spring forward morning.
The Old Fir Derby finished 1-1 with old man , Clint Hill , getting the late equalizer that ended Celtic's 22 match winning streak in the SPL.
Morning, MUR - how's your weather today?
This is the final ever FA Cup match at SFL , where the Spuds are unbeaten, so the Evil Lions will have their work cut out for them .
It's pleasant , but overcast. We are having a break from a really prolonged Indian Summer. It's supposed to be in the low 70s today, which is a break from the tropical weather we have been experiencing. How is it in WNY?
Bitter cold - down in the single digits. We're meant to get half a foot tomorrow night into Tuesday morning. A last blast of winter, I hope.
I hope that you and Elizabeth had a relatively peaceful time yesterday. My thoughts are with all of you.
The Evil Lions were scheduled to play at Bramall Lane at L1 leaders, the Evil Blades, but are playing at SFL instead. Either way, they had an evil fixture scheduled.
I sure hope so. It's rather late in the season for this nonsense. Wishing you Spring sooner rather than later.
This evil FA Cup fixture is underway from SFL.
Morning boys
And we're away. Spurs in their usual kits and Millwall in a garish all-yellow number.
Morning, UWS - how are you, mate?
Good morning, UWS. Welcome to Spring forward even though it may not feel like it.
Just saw that Fox had the Old Firm derby on before this match
It was a difficult day yesterday, but after the service we had a BBQ with some ale, so it ended on a positive note. An emotional roller coaster. Glad to be here chatting on the LOB.
I'm cold!!
Can't believe this weather...especially our weather a couple of weeks ago!
Our garage door has to be fixed so it doesn't close... too cold for all this
Just to let you both know, I've invited along to the LOB a guy named Doug Fusella who was at Feltwell Junior High in the mid 70s with us. I remember the name but not much else about him, I have to admit. He's a Leeds fan who lives in Dallas now. I've been chatting Leeds stuff with him on Facebook.
Glad you got thru everything
Yes they did. I watched the end of it where Old man, Clint Hill , scored a late equalizer to end Celtic's 22 match SPL winning streak.
I'm with you, mate - we went out last night and it was bloody freezing. We're scheduled to get another blast of lake effect snow tomorrow and Tuesday. I'm over it.
Thanks, UWS. I appreciate it.
We're happy to have you on board with us this morning, mate. Give Elizabeth a hug for all of us.
All Spurs at the start
He sounds like a good addition based on what I've read on FB. I don't remember ever meeting him
Kane got behind the Millwall defense and shot from an acute angle. He's down getting treatment now - a worrying sight for any Spuds fan.
I sure will. Thanks.
Oh dear. Kane is staying down...just in time for England !
I haven't seen him sign in to the blog yet but I'll let you know.
The corner from Winks was headed away to Number One Son., who played the ball back to Winks and his shot was saved by King at the near post.
Now it's Son weaving his way into a shooting angle but King saves again. The Lions keeper will be a busy chappy this afternoon.
King with another near post save. The announcer said that he's already made fiver saves. How long can they withstand the Spuds pressure.
Kane limps down the tunnel - not a good sign.
Kane is done for the day
Harry Kane goes down the tunnel. That will be a huge loss for the Spuds.
King in the Evil Lions goal is finding the Spuds to be a royal pain.
I didn't see anyone come on for HK - did they?
So Christian Erickson has come on for Kane. Not sure why the Scandinavian wasn't on from the off.
Eriksen is on in Kane's place. Not exactly what the Evil Lions were hoping to see.
I guess Poch figured that the Spuds can rest a few players and advance. It seems to be the case.
A wasted free kick by Winks. He would do well to pass on that duty to Eriksen.
Eriksen has a low shot blocked almost instantly. Millwall really haven’t got out at all yet.
Who is the last English manager left in the FA Cup?
Ben Davies wins yet another corner.
First Spurs corner earned then. Erickson to swing one in. Out for another.
Morison, the Evil Lions striker back to head out for another corner that is headed out to Winks.
Good trivia question, mate. Let me give it a think.
Harry Redknapp?
One way traffic here at the Lane, for sure.
A weird play as Delli Alli beat the offside trap and the ball was sandwiched between him and King t, the Evil Lions keeper. Neither got it and it was hacked away .
Sorry, mate. I meant this season.
I believe that's Steve Morison, who we swapped for Lucciano Becchio and did nowt for us before we loaned him out to Millwall. I've got no love for him.
Who is the last remaining English manger in the FA Cup this season?
He's the loan striker for the Evil Lions. You will get the satisfaction of knowing that all he's going to do today is chase and run without touching the ball.
A rare Evil Lions attack and Wanyama concedes a free kick just outside the Spuds box.
Wanyama heads out the free kick for the first Evil Lions corner of the match
Millwall's home's kit is West Brom-like
Didn't they used to wear blue like Leicester?
Well - that has to be Neil Harris, Millwall's gaffer, right?
Worm easily gathers the corner.
They wore blue in the '04 Cup Final
Well done, mate. He's Millwall's all time leading scorer, who had two spells with them. Would you have picked him?
The yellow kit is crap.
Ive googled their shirts... they did used to wear blue and then a darker blue and now this...stick with your team colors!!
That was around the end of Harris's first spell with the Evil Lions. I don't think he played in that final because then manager, Dennis Wise, deemed him surplus to requirements.
I saw then wear blue and white against the Foxes. This must be their away kit.
Do Spurs have any other proper strikers than Harry Kane in their squad? I can't think of any. They used to have a useless Spanish bloke who never scored. But I think they offloaded him.
This yellow reminds me slightly of the Spurs old away kit
Much better than their muddy color this season
Typical effort from Morison - well wide of the mark.
The seldom used Vincent Janssen is a striker for the Spuds.
It's actually worse in close up - an orange and yellow horizontal striped monstrosity.
That's the closest the Evil Lions have come to scoring. It looked closer on the replay by the graying striker.
The Spuds win another corner that is headed away and snatched over by Vertonghen.
That's some deep anoraking, MUR. I can't remember Janssen ever getting a match - maybe in the EFL Cup? My point is that they're fairly light in the striker department.
When I see someone like Morison playing, I reckon - "I could do that?" I'm grey around the chops, can trundle up and down a bit for 90 minutes looking interested but not doing much of anything. And I can guarantee you that I would balloon my shots into the stands, just like Morison does. Sign me up, Neil Harris!
Neil Harris did play in the 2004 FA Cup Final He was substituted after 75 minutes. That must have been his last match in his first spell with the Evil Lions.
Goal... the sub finally gets the Spurs on top
GOAL! HK's replacement Erickson opens the scoring for Spuds!
GOAL !!!! ERIKSEN PUTS THE SPUDS IN THE LEAD.
Great turn and swing at the volley from Erickson as the ball dropped to him in the area.
1-0 Spuds!
This one was coming and it was surprising that it took so long. A cross from Trippier was headed away and chested by Delle Alli . Eriksen stepped in front of him and smashed the ball in the corner with a first time finish.
It looks like four heavyweights in the semis with all four teams in the top six.
It does indeed - I'd like to see those two derby matches.
Number One Son has a pass come off of Cooper for a corner.
Spurs hit the bar
OH!!!! Wanyama heads the corner from Eriksen against the bar.
Oh - off the bar from Wanyama from that Erickson corner. Could easily have been 2-0.
When Spuds fans sing we're going to Wembuhlay, you should reply not till next season!
So, your predictions... will the semi finals be an all London affair with a guest from the Northwest invited or will it be a North London/Manc party
I just checked on Steve Morison . Born in London, but a Welsh international. He's scored 25 goals in the past season in a half in L1. As loathsome as he may be, I don't think I could emulate that.
Will all the Cup ties end in home wins...hope not...I fear yes
TWO NIL SPURS
GOAL! Number One Son adds a second for the Spuds!
GOAL !!!! NUMBER ONE SON PUTS THE SPUDS TWO UP WITH A CRACKING FINISH!
Son was allowed to drift in on his favored left foot and curl one beyond King. Easy peasy.
Why are Spurs fans singing Wemberlee Wemberlee...they should be scared stiff.....they play there often and SUCK
Nasty challenge from Wallace there on Wanyama - into the book.
Your prediction? I asked the question but was lost during the goal
LOL! That is true. But it would be their first semi in five years.
The move started deep in the Spuds half with Dier winning a tackle just outside his own box. The ball broke to Delle Alli, who went on a long solo run.. He passed back to Dier , who passed to Number One Son. He miss controlled the pass, but recovered to score with a cracking finish.
I reckon that United are up for an upset tomorrow - I'll be watching!
Leeds get another mention
Citeh won at the Riverside yesterday, so all the Cup ties cannot end in home wins. I'm predicting a penalty shootout on Jose's return to SB.
Two minutes of stoppage time.
Ossie's going to Wembley - his knee's are all a-trembly - la la la la; la la la la.
Me too... because of the hour change I will only miss the first five minutes instead of the full half
I really don't think United have a shot
Hope Im wrong
Who is this plonker doing the color commentary?
The match is being viewed by a parade of former Spuds legends. They must be pleased with proceedings.
I'm off for a shower.
It's David Prutton.
The Spuds are two up at the end of a dominant half.
Tottenham Tottenham
No one can stop em
We're gonna do it like we did last year
We're gonna do it again
We won't give it up
We're gonna bring the Cup
Back home to White Hart Lane
The second half is underway from the soon to be demolished SFL.
The can only hope because they haven't done so for 26 years.
Neil Harris made a substitution at the half.
Ben Davies goes on an unusual solo run , but scuffs a shot side with his weaker right foot.
King is forced to push away a powerful long range effort from Eriksen.
Eriksen with another effort, but it lands in Row G this time.
A rare Evil Lions chance and it lands in Row T. Not sure why the player is laughing about it.
Cooper clears for a Spuds corner.
Three nil
GOAL !!!! NUMBER ONE SON PUTS THE SPUDS THREE UP WITH HIS SECOND GOAL OF THE MATCH
You both know about my thoughts on modern day football
Another pet peeve I have.... how teams collect trophies!!
The way it has been done and should be done is the team comes up the stairs..the trophy given to the captain
Today's footballers....captain comes up and everyone else comes up and it is all congested and then the Cup gets delivered... I HATE IT
It Started at the back with several short passes then all of a sudden a long ball from Trippier was volleyed by Number One Son past Tom King at the near post.
The first time I can remember the new way was the 1999 CL Final... that was okay because it was on the pitch and there was room but still annoying because players were touching it before it was delivered
I'm just back from the shower to see Son rattle in Spurs' third goal.
I agree. I prefer the way they did it in the past.
Welcome back. Correct that the Lion Tamers are three up.
Dele Alli takes some more abuse now. Potch should really consider withdrawing him. The last thing they need in to lose him to injury.
Music to Bob's ears as the announcer says that Steve Morison has been replaced and that it hasn't been his day. A 20 year old is on in his place.
I thought that challenge on Harry Kane should have been a penalty and at least a card . It was really wreckless.
Son - on a hat-trick - tries one from a wide angle. Blasts well over.
Back to the nursing home for Steve.
A bit more life about Millwall now but it’s too late for them, really. They’re not Barcelona.
Even Wanyama has a pop at goal as his long range effort is deflected for a corner.
LOL. They really are facing the lion tamers.
This one is done and dusted...I am going to challenge the wind and take Shadow for walkies
Ill be back for the match at Anfield
Not sure about that. Morison is only 33 years old, so what would that make us?
Cheers, UWS. Hope to see you back match fit.
Sunshine has a couple of puns. He says that the Spuds opponents are Lion down and that they are lion if they say that they are going to win.
The final roll of the dice for Neil Harris as Jeff Wallace is replaced by Northern Ireland international, Shane Ferguson.
Not a patch on your puns, mate.
Serie A may be traditionally low scoring, but don't tell Inter , who lead Atalanta 7-1.
GOAL !!! DELLE ALLI PUTS THE SPUDS FOUR UP.
GOAL! Dele Alli pops up at the back stick to knock in Spurs' fourth goal - over and out for the Evil Lions.
A great team goal and far too easy for the Spuds. Harry Winks found Trippier down the right and he passed to Eriksen , who found Delle Alli unmarked at the far post as he smashed home to make it 4-0
Vinny Janssen is on for Delle Alli.,
Cheers, Bob. I will tell Sunshine as he sits on his lofty perch with his head held high.
Tom King does well to push away a long range effort from Wanyama.
The final roll of the dice from Poch as Sissy is on for Wanyama.
GOAL! Crikey - Janssen has even scored!!!
GOAL !!!! JANSSEN SCORES HIS FIRST EVER GOAL FOR THE SPUDS FROM OPEN PLAY AS HE PUTS THE SPUDS FIVE UP , BEATING TOM KING AT HIS NEAR POS
This matches the Gunners business like performance against Linked In City.
Ben Davies wins a Spuds corner.
The goal just seconds after Dier got away with a defensive error in his own box. He got up, found a player down the left and several passes later Number One Son cut in and laid it off for Janssen to score with a first time finish.
OH!!!!! Janssen thought he had another goal, but his header off a cross from Vertonghen was easily saved by Tom King.
Janssen has a shot deflected for a corner.
Winks has a shot land in Row Q off the corner.
CRICKEY! The Spuds have out shot the Evil Lions 26-4.
Good idea bringing on some hungry players like Janssen on a day like this.
This has been real humiliation for the Evil Lions. You can understand this from Linked In City , who are in the Conference, but I would have expected better from a L1 side than a Conference side.
He's Hungry Like the Wolf!
Will it be like the match vs Linked In City where there won't be any stoppage time?
Spuds fans having a nice sing-song now about going to Wembley and the Millwall fans responded with humor.
They replied with we're going to Shrewsbury. Will it be the taming of the Shrews after facing the Lion tamers?
Two minutes of stoppage time as a long range effort from Winks was just wide.
GOAL! Son has his hat-trick, assisted by King.
6-0 Spuds!!!
GOAL !!! NUMBER ONE SCORES HIS FIRST EVER SPUDS HAT-TRICK TO PUT THE SPUDS HALF A DOZEN UP FOR HIS FIRST EVER SPUDS HAT-TRICK . GREAT CROSS BY ERIKSEN AND A SOLO RUN BY SISSY.
And that's that. An emphatic win for Spurs, then. They're on to a Wembley semi final. Never in doubt.
It's over as the Evil Lions have been tamed a half dozen to nil.
Next is the Prme and NBCSN as Pool host Burnley.
Back for the late Premiership match - here's the team news out of Anfield:
Liverpool (4-3-3) Mignolet; Clyne, Matip, Klavan, Milner; Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana; Mane, Origi, Coutinho.
Substitutes: Karius, Moreno, Lucas, Woodburn, Wilson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez.
Burnley (4-4-2) Heaton; Lowton, Keane, Mee, Ward; Boyd, Barton, Hendrick, Arfield; Gray, Barnes.
Substitutes: Vokes, Brady, Westwood, Agyei, Tarkowski, Robinson, Darikwa.
Referee Craig Pawson.
Burnley win the first corner of the match despite a quick start from Pool. The corner from Scott Arfield is headed away by Wijnaldum and volleyed over by George Boyd.
GOAL! Ashley Barnes has shocked Anfield with an early goal!!
GOAL !!!ASHLEY BARNES GIVES BURNLEY A SURPRISE LEAD AT ANFIELD.
You have to say that Burnley have earned that one. Matt Lowton with an excellent ball in there and Barnes latched on to it expertly with his right peg to steer it home.
0-1!
That will be welcome news for United and Arsenal fans. Arsenal are a mere three points behind Pool now with two matches in hand. United are four points behind with two matches in hand. You'd have to say a loss today would put Pool odds on for missing out on the top four.
It was a superb through ball from Matty Lowton, but horrible Liverpool defending as three players stuck out a leg and completely missed the ball , allowing Ashley Barnes to smash in at the far post.
Emre Can with a poor foul just outside the Pool box.
George Boyd well wide off the short free kick as Burnley aim for their first double vs Pool since the 1929-1930 season.
Lovely Jubbley....boy that wind is 'orrible
Agreed, Bob. A promising Liverpool season has gone horribly wrong and I would think they're a long shot to make the top four.
Oh - Mane did well there to bring down a long ball beat his man and chip a cross over toward Origi. Just too much weight on it.
A bit breezy here too and now drizzly.
Welcome back, UWS. I thought you'd like this scoreline.
What about the Cup scores...
Winning Teams 13 Losing Teams 0
How will it go tomorrow
Yes.Great news and as I was telling Bob, Pool look a long shot to make the top four.
Just saw on the BBC that Shakespeare has been appointed until the end of the season
I'm not looking forward to my Sunday errands in the bitter cold this afternoon. But we've also got a dinner party to look forward to this evening. It all balances out.
Hope he got it in writing
Breaking news: Classic literature as Craig Shakespeare is named Foxes manager till the end of the season.
I was happy with the time change that I will be able to watch United on Monday but I have a damn faculty meeting on Thursday!
BOOM BOOM, UWS. Is that the opening act or the closing act?
Beat ya MUR
Hope the dinner party warms you up after the errands.
It's not just that Pool have been sluggish today; Burnley have been really positive. They're a decent side.
Sorry about the faculty meeting. Hopefully, United do better vs the Russians than Hillary.
You two punsters!
