The Toon one up at the end of a decent first half.Palace had the majority of the chances , but made the vital error that resulted in the Toon goal. Shelvey engineered a move that led to the corner. The corner taken by Kenedy bounced in the box past Beneteke and Milovojevic , gifting Diame an easy tap in at the far post.
OH those missed chances!Beneteke with wo and AH Zaha with one. Beneteke shot against Darlow with just Darlow to beat at 0-0 then after the goal Zaha scuffed a close range effort that came off Yeltsin that should have been a corner , but was given as a goal kick and then a shot took deflections then was saved by Darlow. The rebound came to Beneteke about three yards out, but he was out stretched and couldn't make the proper contact. The Toon had one chance other than the goal when Hennessey had to make a double save to prevent a second Toon goal.
The second half is underway from SJP
PENALTY PALACE! KIERAN CLARK CALLED FOR SHIRT PULL ON BENETEKE OFF A CROSS FROM ZAHA. VERY LITTLE CONTACT , BUT THEY'RE TRYING TO STAMP THAT OUT OF THE GAME.
GOAL !!! 1-1 AS MILOVOJEVIC SCORES FROM THE SPOT DESPITE A POOR SPOT KICK. IT WAS SOFT AND REALLY DARLOW SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER. PALACE UNEXPECTEDLY BACK IN THE MATCH.
Two Palace misses. Beneteke heads high and wide from six yards out from a corner, then Darlow misses a cross from PVA resulting in MacArthur shooting wide from three yards out.
Morning, mate - thanks for getting us going this morning. I took the strategic choice of a lie-in plus making pancakes with the missus over the Palace v. Newcastle match. Just joining it now with about 15 minutes left. It seems poised well at the moment.
Oh - Zaha had a chance to curl in the winner for the home side. Didn't quite get it right.
Oh - a mad scramble in the Newcastle box there after Zaha fizzed over a cross. Benteke's header was cleared off the line by Clark.
OH!!! Palace could have won it late on. Zaha turned Yeltsin inside out, leaving him flat on his arse. He put in a great cross and a decent header from Beneteke was cleared off the line by Clark's head, nit his shoes. Then his rebound was blocked by Darlow and over the bar.
A quartet of stoppage time minutes.
Good morning, Bob. My pleasure. Sounds like a great brekkies . Are you well rested for the late match?
Palace really have been the better side , but victory will elude them due to missed chances, primarily from Beneteke.
Former Palace player, Dwight "Crystal" Gayle, goes on a run and finds Atsu , whose long range curler is not too far wide.
I am well rested now. That was a thrilling end to that match - I'm glad that I caught it. Palace and Newcastle end 1-1. Not really what either side needed.
It's over as it finishes 1-1. I guess both teams can consider that one point closer to safety. Palace were the better team in all honesty,
The reamaining matches this weekend are Pool vs the Spuds that kicks off in about twenty minutes then the Hornets vs Chelsea tomorrow.
Next up is the big one - Liverpool v. Spurs, 5th v. 4th in the table. Both sides like to play attacking stuff and score loads of goals. Harry Kane is top goalscorer on 21 goals with Mo Salah lurking just behind on 19. Should be a cracker - can't wait!
Morning Boys
I watched some of the first one
I will be in and out for this one too
Hope it's a good one.
I hope Spurs play like they did against United
I have to go to the store and then pick up Jon right after this one starts

Morning, UWS - how are you, mate?
Teams coming out of the tunnel at Anfield
New tunnel but same old sign
The teams are in the tunnel at Anfield.
Doing well
Yourself?
Good morning, UWS. How have you been?
Doing well too. Thank you.
My brother Tony has had some problem with his breathing as of late. Been in and out of the hospital from time to time in the past few months
He is back in this weekend.
Yeah - I'm looking forward to knocking off a couple of busy days this week and then perhaps coasting for a few weeks.
Really sorry to hear about Tony. Do you have an address for him - I'd love to send a card along.
Looks like Spurs have won the toss and turned Liverpool around. Liverpool will attack the Kop in the first half
We are off
They're off from Anfield.
Off we go - let's have some goals, lads!
Really sorry to hear about Tony. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
It's the Meadows!
5 The Meadows
Worlington, Bury St Edmunds
England IP28 8SH
Spurs suck...they didn't score after 10.6 seconds!!
I'm sure UWS is looking forward to his Winter Break in a fortnight.
That didn't take long!!!
One nil Pool!!!
GOAL! Mo Salah, of course!
GOAL !!!! BUT LIVERPOOL DO AS MO SALAH WAS GIFTED A GOAL
How was he so wide open
He was offside but the pass came from Dier!!
Terrible mistake there by Eric Dier, playing the ball back straight into the path of Salah who ran onto to it and slotted home in the right corner with ease.
Salah's 20th in the Premiership! Cor!
Liverpool have started full of vigour and attacking intent, and immediately pressure the Spurs defence.
I sure am!!! I
Picking up my niece Laura next Sunday at Newark. She'll be here for the week before and the break
It was a poor back pass from Vertongehn that gifted Salah the goal . A long clearance from Karius was headed on by Hendo then Mane, then back passed from Vertonghen to Slah, who finished well past Lloris, who did not stand a chance.
Come on Spurs... attack
I clocked the goal at 2:14. My mistake on the back pass. It was a real Dier that , as a result, made Salah onside.
I have a three day weekend that weekend with Spring Break in five weeks.
Is Laura from Portsmouth? She may find the ENY Winter weather a tad nippy.
I have the winter break President's Day week then a spring break the week after Easter
That is an early spring break so the run to the end of the year... end of June is going to be long!!
No, she lives in Cambridge
No Winter Break here - it's a long slog to Spring Break in about six weeks time. No worries, though. Enjoy your breaks, gentlemen. Sound like you've got some exciting plans.
Another bit of Spursy defending. Mane has a pass cut out for a corner.when he could have found a wide open player for a two goal lead
I have to go to the score
I'll be back... probably before the half time break
TTFN
I have a four day weekend during Easter. UWS, it sounds like you are better off having Easter fall later in the school year.
Cheers, UWS. Look forward to seeing you in the second half.
Number One Son has a shot blocked for a corner as the Spuds start to threaten.
Cheerio, UWS!
Oh - Milner was in there for a half-chance. The deflection on the shot nearly took the ball into the side netting. Just wide.
OH!!! Then Pool as it's just wide by Milner from an acute angle off a chipped diagonal pass from Emre Can.
This Spursy performance is similar to United's on Wednesday at Wembuhlay.
This match has a lovely cut and thrust to it now, with Spurs just starting to get into the match.
Bobby F heads wide off a nice cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Oh - Bobby Firmino ghosted in at the near post to get onto a cross from Alexander-Arnold, Not enough on it.
Now it's Salah down the left - his cross was just about plucked out of the air by Lloris.
Back from a trip to the bog. I din't miss a goal, but did anything significant happen?
Then Lloris punches away under pressure from Firmino.
A free kick from Milner is headed by VVD and easily saved bu LLoris.
Oh - great move from Spurs but ruled offside by the linesman in a tight decision.
I am back
Same score
How's it been?
Vertonghen clears at the near past as Loveren whipped in a decent cross.
A long, high crossfield pass finds Lovren – this is not a misprint – scampering down the right wing. His hard, low cross is well cleared by Vertonghen – Phil Jones would have scored there.
Welcome back. Both teams attacking, but the final pass has been off.
I'm thoroughly enjoying the match - both sides really want to attack. I'm surprised that it's still 1-0.
Hendo heads away a Spuds free kick then Karius holds on to a long range effort from Dembele.
LOL, Bob. I have always thought of Jones as being Spursy, especially that bit of so called defending at Wembuhlay!
High and reckless by Trent Alexander-Arnold on Ben Davies. A booking, not a ed probably because it was a one footed challenge instead of two.
Alexander-Arnold picks up the first yellow card. I'm ticked off with these new players with their hyphenated names. I'm all in favor of the modern feminist trend toward having both family names, but it does mean a lot of extra typing. Maybe we can come up with a snappy nickname for the kid?
How did United look yesterday?
Too slow?
Too much possession?
I thought United were decent . The Terriers were really thuggish, intent on trying to injure United players instead of playing football. I think they had about eight players booked. Not a vintage United performance , but professional and a deserved win. The Prem is better off without the Terriers and will receive no sympathy from Yours Truly if relegated/
Half time
Pool one up at the half. The score accurately reflects the passage of play.
Teams out for the second half
The second half is underway from Anfield.
I'm back for the second half now. I thought United looked quite solid yesterday. They were never in danger and could have run out bigger winners. They just don't have the swagger of Citeh or Liverpool (or occasionally Spurs). They're good but a bit boring, but that sums up Mourinho, right?
Next Saturday starts with the North London Derby in the Prem. Two Yorskhire Derbies kick off in the Championship at the same time with Leeds trip to Bramall Lane on ESPN 3.
Quite right, mate. They should have won by more , but were professional against a really poor side.
Hate the boring part Bob!!
From what I've seen, the game isn't as good as I hoped it would be
I don't want United to be professional
I want them to go for the jugular and hammer teams
I was listening to the BBC on Saturday evening on my walk with Shadow
A Leeds fan says he wants Monk back
You?
Next Sunday United at SJP kicking off at 9:15 with a return to St. Mary's , for Loveren, Mane, Lallana, and VVD kicing off at the same time this match did. I'm skipping the noon kickoff as the doomed Terriers host the Cherries.
Well, I'll just say that United are boring but at least you weren't tonked 1-4 by Cardiff managed by one of your ex-managers, featuring some of your ex-players. Oh - and we had yet another player sent off. And one stretchered off.
So...count your blessings, lads.
Not looking forward to that derby match next weekend.
Monk returning may be a decent option. Is that correct, Bob?
I can't believe that these days managers want players to play around the back with there being a chance to give the ball away in a VERY dangerous position
What about.. when in doubt... kick it out!
Again, I won't be on LOB next Sunday for United.
Son with a chance..saved
Two chances for Spurs there - first Son's effort is saved by Karius and then Ali goes wide.
Karius does well to block from Number One Son, who was through on goal then Delle Alli Sandwiches the rebound wide.
I'm not sure I want Monk back. I quite like TC; I just don't think we've got a good enough squad. We need to stop selling our best players.
You will be missed, but hope Laura has a safe trip from Cambridge. A great city where I've been by the University, driven by the Abbey ,and driven by the scenic Rover Cam. Hope she has a great time in ENY.
Did you see that Pep named only six subs yesterday
What a joke... poor City... have no subs
Chelsea play on consecutive Mondays. At VR tomorrow then host the bottom club a week from tomorrow. A week from Friday they host the Tigers in the Cup.
Citeh must be facing a financial crisis.
Spurs need to stay onside
They are all starting from offside position... numpties
Kane is flagged offside off a free kick as he diverts the free kick from Eriksen straight to Karius.
Agreed about Leeds. Also, they need to give managers moire than a season to make an impact so as to have some continuity.
The Ox and Winaljdum on for Mane and Hendo.
Ox for Mane and Wijnaldum for Hendo as there is hand klopping from Pool fans during that double substitution. Hendo or Jergens decides that an LUFC academy product gets the captain's armband. Did Bob make that decision.?
I guess I want a draw here to keep them further away from United
I do want Spurs to knock Chelsea out of the top four
Delle Alli booked for diving.
Deli Alli flops in the area and picks up a deserved yellow for simulation. He's got a reputation for that that he'll need to shed.
Dele Alli in the book
So bad of a dive
Why didn't he stay on his feet and shoot... he was on the inside of the defender!!
Such a punk
Lamela on for Davinson Sanchez.
I really worry about Dele - he's got so much promise for England but his character is just so poor.
Here we go again.. Spurs phaffing about with it in their own box... SO DANGEROUS
With managers so worried about not losing instead of winning, I don't see how they want this time of tactics
Bloody Barca
I've been watching Youtube matches from days gone by... it was a better game!!
I'm not sure what the point of Eric Lamela is.
The second half has been really poor. Only three goals so far today. All from basic errors.
Well, to answer that, I can remember WHR, who does youth coaching, complaining about England during the Euros merely hoofing the ball out of defense at the first sign of danger, with the obvious result being that they would lose possession and have to defend all over again. So, obviously he's influenced but the "modern" notions of coaching.
Useless by Spurs
When it doubt... kick it out
NOTHING is wrong with a long ball
Liverpool always look dangerous when they go forward.
More passing around in the box, this time from Bobby F, who gets and F for a poor pass in stead of shooting. Great counter led by Salah after he nicked it off of Dembele.
Precisely. I don't know why commentators shy away from calling him out for it more. Alli is a cheat. As promising a hope for this summer for England, he's at heart a cheat.
Also, why don't the commentators call out the lack of technique displayed in that attempted clearance by Liverpool that went straight up in the air to land giving a Spud the chance to slide in a ball on goal? I thought, bloody hell, I could do that. You know what? I'm right and that's why I was never picked.
Nothing personal but the more skillful player is usually playing up front or in midfield
Defenders are as good
Hiya Steve
The final roll of the dice from Jergen as Matip is on for Milner. Who will be Pool's third skipper of the match?
I agree with you; it's just interesting that even our friends have been influenced by the new ideas. I've had endless argument about "Total Football," which I think is a myth, with the Gooner.
Wanyama in for Dembele. I don't get that. Why put on a water carrier when you're trailing late in the match?
Welcome, Gooner!
WOW... WHAT A SCORCHER!!!
One one
GOAL !!!! A COLLECTOR'S ITEM AS WNAYAMA, OF ALL PEOPLE, TIES IT UP WITH A RARE GOAL
GOAL! You've suffered the commentator's curse, MUR. Moments after coming on, the "water carrier" has ripped one into the top corner. Wow!
Hi Boys, fair warning, if the Spuds equalize, I'm off. I can't wait for the wheels to come of their tricycle of Erikson, Alli, and Kane.
Jesus! What rubbish keeping.
I was just about to agree with you, too, MUR. I didn't see the point of Wanyama. Then woof!
There goes Steve!!
Liverpool would be a threat if they could bring in a keeper that wasn't a recent Ringling Bros. graduate.
My idea a team for me
4 4 2
A great two man partnership up top working off each other
Having players playing wide, overlapping runs by the fullbacks, decent crossing, at least three players inside in the box to attack the cross
Good afternoon, Steve. I agree with you . Poor technique by Liverpool led to the goal. First the Pool clearance gifted the Spuds possession . Several passes later poor technique as Karius poorly fisted away an innocuous cross from Eriksen, but great technique by Wanyama with that cracking screamer of a finish
To be fair, Gordon Banks on stilts wouldn't have saved that shot. What a scorcher! And you know, he could try that in training and 999 out of 1,000 would go into the stands.
Kane thru... brought down
Penalty!!
Oh, bloody hell - now Karius has upended Kane in the box! Penalty to Spurs!
PENALTY. STEVE CALLED IT WITH MORE rINGLING BROS KEEPING AS KARIUS TRIPS KANE
Ref talking to linesman
Consultation now between Jon Moss and his assistant. Did Kane play for that - probably so. Was he offside? Probably that too.
John Moss and hiss assistant waiting for the results of VAR?
Jon Moss sticks with the penalty call!
After a long talk... Pen given
I thought Kane was offside and fell down easily. So what did John Moss decide? he decides penalty
FFS! Right, cheerio. This is killing me.
Up steps Kane in front of the Kop... SAVED
Kane has a chance now to win this one....
Saved!!!!
Will Kane every score his 100th
I haven't seen the replay yet, but I suspect it was right down the middle.
Justice served, IMHO as a really poor penalty by Harry Kane was saved by Karius, but it was really straight to him.
Yep - it was. Rubbish. Please, please, please don't be doing that nonsense this summer, Harry. That was horrible.
And... I'm back. What a crap penalty
Modern day cross there by Liverpool... absolute crap
Speaking of crap... what a useless penalty from England's summer hope
LOL, Bob. I guess I was cursed. Now I see the point of Wanyama.
Was he trying a Panenka? Even so - really horrible.
I'm with you, MUR. I hate it when managers throw on a defensive middle when they're needing a goal. It makes no sense at all. But that was one in a million.
Of course, I definitely don't Liverpool to win
I don't want Liverpool to win anything
England's World Cup hopes are a real Dier. Poor back passing. Delli deserves a knuckle sandwich for being a punk and cheat. Harry Kane will not be Abel to make an impact and the Three Lions will pay the penalty for that.
The Scouse midfield has collapsed on top of their defense, There's no outlet when a ball is cleared.
That's a depressing but accurate summary, mate.
A quartet of stoppage time minutes, yet anything but a symphony.
My thoughts are that keepers should never guess
They react to every other shot in the game
GOAL... LIVERPOOL WIN IT
GOAL! Mo Salah has won it!
GOAL !!!! QUE SALAH SALAH? HE'S WON IT FOR POOL. NOW 2-1.
Where the hell is the defenders!!
Lovely! There goes the tricycle. Well in Mo'
I wanted the draw
Oh my, that was one for the ages. Salah benefited from a lucky ricochet but then he weaved through the area and lifted the ball over Karius.
2-1!
Lamella dives... no.. the linesman has given the penalty!!!!
WHAT DRAMA!!!
Delle are you watching . Salah got a pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold off a throw. He thought the Spuds had handled in the box. What did he do? He played on , went past three SPuds then blasted it in the roof of the net past Lloris.
What's this - a penalty? Oh - that is harsh. Lamella went down like a sack of spuds.
Your wish, granted UWS. That bloody liino's just stuck his nose in
BLOODY HELL . LATE DRAMA. HOW DID THE LINESMAN SEE THAT AS A PENALTY. A CKUMSY SWING BY VVD, BUT AN OBVIOUS DIVE BY LAMELA.
Kane to take it again
He does kick the guy but totally by accident!
Is the linesman's address... White Hart Lane
Kane...scores
GOAL !!!DESMOND AS HARRY KANE IS FINALLY ABEL TO GET HIS CENTURY AS HE SENDS KARIUS THE WRONG WAY FROM THE SPOT.
Desmond was a late arrival here!!!
Kane scores! His 100th. Nerves of steel. That's what we need next summer. Even Klopp applauds grudgingly.
That's the point of Lamela. Commentator's curse hits Bob?
What an end to this match - what drama! That's why we watch these matches, gents.
That's it!!!
Desmond stays for good!
The linesman is going to have to get some protection on his way back to Tottenham Court Road
Absolutely - it's 1-1 on the commentator's curse, mate. Ha ha!
It's over as it finishes Desmond thanks to an awful decision from the linesman. Pool robbed of two points.
I off to see Matt at Siena
Take boys
TTFN
I hate this game. Only good thing would be a sanctionable ruck in the tunnel. Ridiculous.
a dramatic finale, but not for the correct reasons.
Great chatting with everyone.
CHEERS!
LOL! That would be great, Gooner!
Cheerio, lads - I'm off to do the Sunday errands.
