Who's Ready for Some Football?
Morning, chaps. After the first week back at work in earnest, it's nice to hit the weekend and a chance to take a break. First up today is the newly-promoted Wolves against table-topping Citeh. Then come the 10am kickoffs including the Arsenal on NBC Sports. Alongside that is my beloved Leeds on a road trip to our old stomping grounds at Norwich. We end up with Liverpool v. Brighton.
I'll be in and out for the first one but will be around for the Leeds match. Then I have to jump in the car for an MLS road trip up to Toronto to see TFC in their derby day match against Montreal.

Two matches in to the season, Citeh are already on top of the league and knocking them off that perch looks a daunting task. Can Wolves do that today at Molineux. We can only hope for the sake of the Premiership season.
Good morning, Bob. I'm up and ready for some football. Sounds like you have a big day ahead of you.
Teams coming out of the tunnel at Molineux with loads of fanfare and some pyrotechnics.
Wolverhampton Wanderers: Rui Patricio, Bennett, Coady, Boly, Doherty, Neves, Joao Moutinho, Jonny, Jota, Jimenez, Helder Costa.
Subs: Gibbs-White, John Ruddy, Saiss, Ruben Vinagre, Hause, Leo Bonatini, Traore.
Manchester City: Ederson, Walker, Kompany, Laporte, Mendy, Fernandinho, Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, Silva, Sterling, Aguero.
Subs: Stones, Delph, Sane, Mahrez, Otamendi, Gabriel Jesus, Muric.
Referee: Martin Atkinson (W Yorkshire).
They're off from Molineaux.
And we're away at Molineux, Wolves in their typical gold and black and Citeh in their dark away number with bright yellow socks.
Morning, MUR - glad you could join me for proceedings.
Jon Champion and Kevin Kilbane the mouth pieces as the Champions visiting the team wearing old gold , who were gold medalists of the Championship last season
Glad to enjoy the pleasure of your company. How was your first week back?
Early pressure from the home side. They're trying to hit Citeh while their still on the bus.
It was really good but busy. We've got the largest incoming freshman class in Fredonia history - nearly 1,500 students.
The Teesiders won 1-0 with a late stoppage time winner last night as Pulis got revenge against the club that sacked him last season.
WOW! Like our school, sounds like they're trying to increase the student population.
Kompany called for a shirt pull and fortunate not to be booked.
Definitely - we did a lot of hard work with recruiting this year.
The free kick from from Jimenez straight to Ederson. Ryan Bennett blocks his punt from a foot away and is called for a foul. Isn't that legal?
Kpmpany booked as he fouls Neves this time and Martin Atkinson was neves going to let him get away with that nasty challenge and two in a matter of minutes.
Wolves have settled well here so far - they're formidable when playing at home.
Poor defending as Wolves took the free kick short and Helder Costs called offside . He was by inches.
What did you think about the result last night?
Clumsy by Fernandinho and the locals want another booking.
Now it's Fernandinho booked for a bad foul. That's two Citeh men cautioned early on.
I was hoping that the Baggies could knock Boro for seven. Sadly Boro picked up another useful win. They'll be promotion favorites for sure. Hoping for a good solid win at our old stomping grounds.
Gundogan straight at Rui Patricio, who fumbles then immediately gathers the rebound off a lobbed pass from Mnedy
Then Costa wins a Wolves corner a it starts raining.
Neves tries the spectacular - very ambitious effort.
The corner from Joao Moutinho is headed out then a long range effort is high and wide.
A big one at ER on Friday vs the Teesiders. I'll be around for the early season promotion six pointer.
Yeah - we certainly have had a tough early fixture schedule. That's for sure.
Jimenez has the ball in the net but he's been ruled offside. Shame.
Oh - off the bar from Aguero!
GOAL !!! No it's offside as Jimenez had the ball in the back of the net as Wolves broke and a fantastic through ball was played. Then Aguero has a shot come off the post off a deflected pass.
Oh - now it's Raheem Sterling with a rifled shot saved onto the woodwork - great save by Rui Patricio.
A really Sterling save from Rui Patricio off a long range effort then Aguero offside as Ryan Bennett had headed away a long ball from Fernadinho.
Will you be around for the Friday night match. It's also on ESPN+
City are beginning to press harder now. That disallowed Wolves goal has inspired quite a response, as they've taken it up a gear or two.
I should be, mate. That's the last day of the month, so we may be doing a last minute clean up.
Weekend at Bernie's fouled just outside the Wolves box on a weekend.
The free kick from David Silva is Silva , which is second rate because it was headed away by an old gold shirt.
Hope everything goes well Friday. Wolves up tot he challenge, so Citeh will have to be at their best to get three points from this match
Aguero tackled for a Citeh corner.
The corner taken short from Silva to Silva against the team in old gold and it comes to nothing.
Mendy wins a Citeh corner.
Oh - Fernandinho goes close with a shot from the top of the box.
The corner from Gundogan headed away . A cross is headed away then a long range effort from Fernandinho is wide.
We've also got Preston North End in mid-week. I'll have to miss that one as I'll be traveling up to ArtPark for an 80s blowout concert featuring Culture Club, the B52s and Thompson Twins.
An interesting fact from Jon Champion , who states that Wolves have more Portugeese players in their starting lineup then either Porto or Sporting Lisbon.
Sounds like a great concert. Thank you for a fantastic time there. The match should be while you're teaching? Looking to get one over Ridsdale?
That is interesting. Wolves have become an outpost of the Portuguese league in the West Midlands.
Definitely - perhaps you can keep me posted through some texts?
Wolves win a corner. Taken by Moutinho and headed out. A cross played back into the Citeh box and a shot from Jimenez out for a throw.
I will be teaching that afternoon as well. Not sure if UWS will still be on vacation.
I don't hear much away support for Citeh - are they taking their success for granted?
Jon Champion announcing in this match up of champions. Is that correct, mate?
Rui Patricio palms away a cross then Aguero taps the rebound back to the Wolves keeper.
Conor Coady booked for a foul from behind on Aguero
Not sure about the Citeh support today. It's also the fact that the Wolves fans are really vocal and getting behind their team
Great break there through Costa who outmanned Mendy down the flank.
Wolves fans applaud as Mendy is called for a really stupid foul throw. His right foot was a yard on to the pitch. He expected to get away with that?
Into stoppage time. a minute of that
Oh - Bernie Sanders was nearly in there. Great block by Boly.
It's 0-0 at the half as Wolves have done really well to hold Citeh with a great first half performance.A deserved standing ovation from the home fans.
Half-time arrives and Wolves have done a bit better than just hanging in there with Citeh. 0-0. Off to the shower.
BOOM BOOM, Basil!
Back from walkies and then feeding time for some pets. Looks like little happening early in the second half.
Helder Costa through as he got past Kopmany ,w ho was guilty of lazy defending, but took one too many touches as Ederson tipped his shot in to the side netting.
GOAL !!!! WOLVES TAKE THE LEAD OFF THE SHORT CORNER
Wow! I'm just getting back into my chair in time to see Wolves take the lead, albeit through a fortunate non-offside call.
And now David Silva has been denied a penalty! Wow!
Then Citeh thought they had won a penalty as David Silva thought he was fouled by one of the old gold jerseys and was booked for protesting.
Fernadinho heads wide off the free kick from Weekend at Bernie's during the weekend.
The replay shows that the goal should have been disallowed . The corner from Moutinho was played short to Neves then back to Moutinho. His cross was headed in by Willy Boli off his hand and Jota, next to him was offside.
Weekend at Bernie's has his weekend cut short as he's replaced by Jesus.
This would be the first really huge upset of the season and may benefit in the PPP.
A long range effort from Gundogan is straight to Rui Patricio.
Ruben Neves wide as Jota laid off a pass after a long ball from Moutinho , who was gifted possession by Mendy.
Boli not just guilty of hand ball, but offside as Doherty had headed on the cross.
Neves guilty of a less than Sterling challenge just outside the Wolves box.
GOAL !!!! THE FREE KICK WAS FROM GUNDOGAN WAS HEADED IN AT LA PORTE , WHICH WAS AT THE FAR POST. IT WAS A FREE HEADER AS CITEH TIE IT UP. HIS FIRST CITEH GOAL.
Aguero went down , looking for a penalty, but Martin Atkinson was having none of it.
Aguero well wide from just outside the box.
Adama Traore, a recent signing from the Teesiders, on for Helder Costa. Will his pace create problems for Citeh.
Play stopped as it was clash of heads between Jesus and what looks like Conor Coady.
Jesus up and ready to come back on. The Wolves player was Doherty, who appears to have come off the worst for wear off that challenge.
Back to the action.
OH!!!! Jesus with a close range header that is saved by the knees of Rui Patricio off a cross from Aguero.
Sane on for Gundogan .
Doherty with a shot off of Mendy for a Wolves corner off a run and pass from Jota.
The corner headed away by the first man.
Helping out Kate with putting some things away now. I'll be back for the Leeds match.
Jota with a Sterling tackle, but it results in a Citeh corner. Now Jota down and Martin Atkinson none too pleased. Time wasting? Now back up.
The corner from Sane out for another.
The next one from Sane out by the first man.
Cheers . Will be looking forward to the pleasure of your company and wishing you and Kate well.
Moutinho called for a high boot on Silva , which neither a gold nor Silva medal challenge.
Each team with a substitution as Mahrez on for Sterling and some Vinagre on the dressing as Johnny Otto is replaced for a Wolves substitution.
Jota with a half volley just over off a run and cross from Adama Traore.
A kick save from Ederson as Adama Traore put a pass off the box as he skipped easily past Mendy then his rebound blocked for a corner.
The corner from Moutinho headed away by the first man
The Doherty headed wide of a Vinagre cross.
A late Citeh corner and a quintet of stoppage time minutes, which is not music to Nuno Santo's ears.
Wolves just about to seal a very creditable draw against the presumptive title winners.
Aguero wins a a free kick about 25 yards from goal off a run and pass from Sane.
OH!!!! The Free kick from Aguero clips the top of the bar and over for a goal kick. That was probably Citeh's last chance to win it.
That's that as Wolves gain a creditable 1-1 draw against the champions. The biggest crowd at Molineaux in 37 years.

A return to the EM for Wilshere as he aims to prove the Emery Board wrong by releasing him form the club where he had been since he was nine years old.
Well, that was a good start to the day. Now I'm back for the big one. Leeds away at our old favorites Norwich City. Norwich stole a few off us a few years back so there's no love lost between the clubs. Should be a firecracker.
The match on NBC Sports is Arsenal hosting cross town rivals West Ham in the first match of their season that would seem winnable.
Team news for that one:
