A Yorkshire Derby to Start the Weekend!
Happy Friday, everyone! Is there a better way to start the weekend fun than a cracking Yorkshire Derby between two old enemies? I'm here at work and will be dialing up the ESPN+ link in about half an hour. Last time up, we got handed out first loss by an improbably vanquisher, Birmingham City. Bielsa and the boys need to bounce back from that unexpected defeat with a solid win today. Come on, you Leeds boys. MOT!
261 Comments:
Good afternoon, Bob. How have you been? Hoping for a memorable Leeds win at a bitter rival.
Wahay! I've got the link going and the players are in the tunnel coming out. Nice to see you, mate. To see you - nice!
Looks like some excellent away support tonight. MOT!
The Leeds starting XI: Peacock-Farrell, Ayling, Jansson, Cooper, Douglas, Alioski, Saiz, Philips, Klich, Harrison, Roberts.
Got the match on at Evil Hillsborough
We're still missing the injured triad - Kemar Roofe, Pablo Hernandez and Patrick Bamford.
Good afternoon. Looking forward to a memorable Leeds win
Lots of ex-Leeds interest tonight. Our old skipper Tom Lees is in the backline and of course you know I'll be gnashing my teeth about the presence of Barry "Bloody" Bannan.
Bob will not be pleased to listen to the locals chanting.
They're off from Hillsborough/.
MOT!
"Hi Ho Silver" is ending and we're about to get started. Not a Big Club get us underway, wearing their horrible stripey number. We're in all-White as God intended it.
Great to see both teams wearing their traditional colors as it should be in this heated rivalry
To right - I'm always disgusted to hear a Steel Town accent. MOT!
Nice control of mid-field in the early going.
Agreed, mate and great to hear" Marching on Together." Great away support.
Oh - Ali seemed to be in but there was a late flag on it.
Jon Champion just reminded us that Bristol City vs Villa kicks off in a few minutes. I'm sure he's not guilty of idle gossip.
Foreestieri with an extravagant dive there. Referee not buying his nonsense.
Forestieri was through that went down in typically evil fashion. As if you needed an excuse to hate these mugs.
Let's hope that Bristols will be held tonight.
I'd be more likely to buy swampland in Hillsborough County than NY NONSENSE FROM THESE MUGS.
Clumsy forward's tackle by Roberts gives Not a Big Club a cheap free kick.
Tyler Roberts concedes a free kick to the striped side.
Bannan swings the free kick in and its nodded away by the skipper.
Free kick from Barry Bloody Bannon headed away by fellow Scot, Liam Copper as it's driven to a safe parking spot.
Cammy Dawson saves a close range header for a corner off a Pre Saiz pass.
Oh - Douglas came on to a lovely dinked chip cross from Saiz. Had to be saved.
Bit of argumentative chat between Saiz and Ali. We don't need that, lads. Just get on with it.
Agreed, mate. A Bristol City win is not a good result for Leeds. I'm not trying to gossip.
Leeds players lining up for that chance but the ball just wouldn't fall to any of them. But we're playing well so far. I'm happy with that.
Two good crosses from Barry Douglas. One cleared and caught Ayling by surprise.
Agreed. It's been a promising start.
Leeds playing as if they're the home team even though I wouldn't call Sheffield home.
Kal Phillips needs to watch himself.
Definitely not!
The match from Ashton Gate is underway
Ali wins a cheap free kick out wide left.
Baker overcooks a challenge as he fouls Ali near the corner flag.
Keep me abreast of the gossip from Ashton Gate. ;-)
Forestieri flops over to win a free kick off a challenge from Klick.
I sure will , mate.
Forestieri is a floppy sod, isn't he?
Jansson clears for a corner to the Not So Big Cub
Pontus concedes a needless corner there. Sloppy from the backline.
And P-F punches clear.
BPF punches away a corner from Forestieri.
He seems to be early doors, making him a perfect fit for these mugs.
Stephen Fletcher with a speculative volley that went well wide. Not a Big Club's first real chance of the match.
Steven Fletcher volleys well wide from just outside the box.
We've dropped off the pace a bit in the past ten minutes. I want to see us attacking some more.
Too many of these crosses are being overhit!
Nice Leeds move as Harrison just overcooks a cross off a nice move involving Klich and Ayling
Agreed It's been quite since the first few minutes
Ah - too bad. Douglas had a chance there but couldn't control the through ball on the volley.
I wouldn't say that Leeds are Ayling, but it's not been Kliching completely.
It's all being playing in Wednesday's half. Better end product and you'll be in.
Still 0-0 at Ashton Gate
Good Afternoon, Steve. How have you been?
Oh - nearly a cracking own goal there by Baker!
Welcome, Gooner! I agree. The final ball has been the only thing lacking.
Oh - how did that stay out!?
OH!!!! Baker nearly gifts Leeds Leeds as he just missed scoring an OG off a cross from Jack Harrison
Nearly a storming own-goal and then chaos that ends with the ball loose. C'mon!
And then Pontus nods into the keeper's hands from the resulting corner.
OH!!! Barry Douglas with a free header off a Pre Saiz cross that came off the post then he headed to Ayling , who volleyed just wide.
The game's come to life again in the past few minutes. Some sterling sweeping work by P-F.
Leeds had several chances to take the lead.
Really not enjoying Forestieri's antics.
Michael Hector well wide with a long range effort off a Leeds headed clearance.
Baker, nearly the own goal hero, is down for treatment now. Water break ensues.
He's a real cheat, making him a perfect fit for this so called team/
He was more like Tammy Fay with that bit of defending.
Bristol City takes the lead. Wish that were idol gossip.
Josh Brownhill with the goal.
Half an hour gone. We really should be a goal up.
Oh - Harrison works his way into the area but then shanked his shot wide.
Nice run and cross from Ayling, but the header didn't quite Klich
What's the gossip, mate?
Jon Champion should stop ignoring my updates. I was two minutes ahead of him!
Bristol City have taken the lead through a goal from Josh Brownhill.
Free kick chance now for us. Marcelo prowling the technical area in a really ominous looking anorak.
Forestieri reminds me of a former Swiss international whose name escapes me. Playing in the Bundesliga but I never rated him. Same head-down running, also not very robust, always looking for the whistle to go his way.
Nasty clash there between Penney and Ayling. Penney picks up a yellow card for that one.
No dropped a penny pun, El Prez?
Feeney booked for a typical Sheffield challenge leaving a Leeds defender Ayling.
Oh - another chance goes begging.
Not yet, Steve. May do later,.
There's joy to be had in their keeper. Flappy is his name-Oh.
Fletch is losing his mind again as he fouls. Should be booked for that.
Seem to be, for sure, Gooner.
I misread the jersey. Thought it said Feeney, not Penny.
I can hardly wait for it, El Prez
Their keeper, Cameron Dawson playing more like Les.
Oh - Baker tries one from distance but P-F saves well.
BPF turns an round a shot from Tammy Fay Baker.
I'm sure Bob wouldn't even donate a Penny towards a Sheffield cause. A penny for your thoughts!
Saiz buys a free kick out wide left. We can swing one in from there. Bring the big boys up.
Not worth a farthing.
More flapping from Dawson. That is very promising for us.
Another Not a Bog Club player loses his mind. Not the ref's fault if the challenges are anything but Pre Saiz.
Ah - Klich had a chance from 12 yards but blasted over.
Actually Dawson tipped over for a corner. Cleared from the corner.
Cross from Harrison headed away and a shot from Klich tipped over by Cammy Dawson, not Les.
Not A big Club penny pinching as they earn a cheap free kick
This first half has gone by rather quickly.
Horrible ball out from Kal, but Bannan was wasteful with neither a shot nor cross. Phew!
It has. I'd be happier if we were to go in 1-0 up. Come on!
Oooh, Pre Saiz. Reeling from that one.
Kal Phillips with a poor clearance and Barry Bloody Bannan with a long range effort that nearly causes one of the security guard to shed blood.
Barry Bannon was anything but unless hitting a security guard is worth a goal
Oh - Ali nearly in on that through ball from Cooper. Shame.
ALi just fails to connect on a long ball as he was just a few yards from goal
Stick a toe-out Ali.
Bugger! A shot out of the blue that goes into off the post.
BLOODY HELL! NOT A BIG CLUB TAKE LEAD OFF A LONG RANGE EFFORT OFF THE INSIDE OF THE POST FROM ADAM REACH. LOOKED A MISS HIT. FLETCH HEADED DOWN A THROW AND REACH SCORED WITH A LUCKY EFFORT.
Such a fluke! Not memorable except as a hit and hope that somehow hit the mark.
Sorry, Bob. I find it hard to believe he meant that
Nothing else to do but to get it back. Come on, you Whites!
So does Peacock-Farrell. Totally out of his Reach.
BOOM BOOM! Funny despite the score.
Perhaps time for one more chance for us. Come on!
That shot was a reach at best
I thought you might like it. Gallows humor.
Oh - Cooper with a speculative effort that Dawson didn't look comfy with. Too bad it didn't drop in.
1-0 at the interval.
Mini Cooper with a long range effort driven and flapped at by Dawson then caught. Halftime and Not a Big Club really lucky to be one up at the half.
This commentator! He should know better than to keep going on and on about that unicorn goal.
Really too bad that you're not 1-up or at leave even. I'd prefer it if Dawson's many yippy moments had been deservedly punished.
Villa have tied it up at Ashton Gate with a goal from Bjarnasoon . That's not idle gossip.
Now halftime at Ashton Gate
Hertha Berlin two up vs Bayern with about an hour played.
Second half underway from Hillsborough.
COME ON LEEDS! MOT!
Pass from Klich just too long for Harrison , who was flagged offside anyway
We need an early goal. Come on!
This is where the injuries have really hurt us. We don't have a lot of impact off the bench, unless you consider Stu Dallas "impact."
Hit it, Sammy!
Nice Leeds possession ruined by a pass that was anything but Pre Saiz.
I hear there is more gossip to stay abreast of?
Jon Champion not living up to his name because he is intentionally ignoring my updates!
Again - we're controlling everything here. But I want some pay-off.
That's correct, mate. Watch this space.
Roberts with a corner.
Ali is well off the mark with that wild blast.
The corner was headed away and a long range effort from Ali reached the cheap seats , not the back of the net.
Ouch! - that is a nice Buzzcocks reference. "Leeds, Leeds are falling apart again." That stings because I fear the Sheffield lads are right.
YESSS!!!!!
Pick that one out!
Just as I join....LEEDS TIE IT UP
You're welcome!!
Nice goal
YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! WHAT CURLING EFFORT FROM KLICH . NICE FINISH AND NICE TEAM TEAM GOAL FROM, THE D.
Wonderful strike by Klich from a series of great passes.
1-1! Game on!
Good afternoon, UWS. Thanks for the perfect timing./
Welcome, UWS - you've brought the mojo!
Now 1-1 in BOTH championship matches with the away team coming from behind in BOTH matches.,
Refreshing to see both teams wearing the traditional shirts...even though there is white in the Wednesday shirt
Only one winner now - come on!
Buzzcock? Joy Division, mate.
What a hit BTW. !-1 and a better reflection of the match. It's a bit teeth-grinding that a goal that comes from a superb bit of technique rather than some hoof and hope gets much less attention from this muppet commentator.
Nice away support with MOT in full voice.
Sorry, you're right, of course. For a moment, I was thinking of "Ever Fallen in Love." My apologies.
Decent shot and save there
The muppet stated that Reach's goal was the better goal. Only true if a miss hit shot is better than an intended shot.
It's Leeds Time!
Klich is level top scorer now. Interestingly, he was on his way out of the club until Marcelo showed up and batted his eyes at him.
Baker feeling more like a short order cook as he's down for the second time this match
Jon Champion cues up another replay of the Reach goal, just to piss me off.
I just saw the Wednesday goal on Friday
Quite a hit... meant
SHUT IT CHAMPION! Not a wonder goal, but a miss hit shot that was scored ages ago,
You'll know your team's performance is off if the oppo fans start chanting "You get in a heat, you get in a sulk
But you still keep a-beating your meat to pulp"
Ian Palmer to come on for the Owls now. Any relation to Carlton Palmer? Looks a bit like him.
Liam Palmer on for Baker.
oooh, I thought that was in
I think so too, Bob. I notice the resemblance
Oh - great cross over by Douglas but Harrison nodded it back out!
And then Roberts with another curler. Just wide.
The goal from Kllich was much better. Right, Bob?
Hector is going into the referee's book. No - just a bollocking.
Michael Hector fortunate not to be booked for the foul on Tyler Roberts
An atrocious free kick...everyone comes up...doesn't beat the first man!!
Oh - Phillips tries one but it's well wide. Claims a deflection but nothing doing.
An hour gone. We need a winner! Come on!
Wonder how the Bundesliga table will be affected if Hertha old on to their two goal lead vs Bayern
Steven Fletcher down .
Let's hope Fletcher can continue. I've never rated him.
Nuhiu would be the natural replacement if Fletch can't continue, but it appears that he will.
Nuhiu is not really any better and the same type of player. Shows what Penney pinchers of
a club they are.
Sammy needs to come off - one too many wayward passes.
That pass sure was Ayling after a promising attack.
He's not been too Pre Saiz today
Steven Fletcher is still playing? I would have guess rendered into glue by now.
We've gone a bit off the boil in the past ten minutes. Need some changes.
LOL, Steve. I was thinking the same. Elmer's or generic?
BBB picks up a deserved yellow card for a ridiculous challenge on Saiz.
BArry Bloody Bannan anything but bloody Pre Saiz as he should have been booked for that thuggish challenge.
OH! He did get booked as he should have
Klich gets a yellow now as this is starting to boil over a bit.
Klich booked as Forestieri was a flopping sod yet again
Nice ball in now Barry. Come on!
Cleared out by Lees.
Oh - Cooper gets to it but no power behind the header.
Thought they had a header there... it is going to come!!
Corner from Barry Douglas headed out by Tom Lees for another Leeds corner. Next corner from Ali driven by Mini Cooper straight to Flappy Les Dawson
Fifteen minutes left to win this one. Come on!
Ayling works his way into a shooting position but his shot is weak, or as MUR would put it, Ailing.
Hertha still two up vs Bayern in the 90th minute. That would be a huge upset.
LOL, Bob. YOu know me all too well.
