Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Good morning, Bob. Felling well rested as a strong pot of coffee is brewing
Morning, MUR - I hope you enjoyed the extra kip last night. Welcome!
Sadly, the dominant story is the helicopter crash near the KP
Thanks, Bob. Hope you did too. Sounds like you did based on the post.
This is a very sombre day in English footie after the helicopter crash at Leicester and the news about Glenn Hoddle. Expect some tributes.
Teams in the tunnel now:

Subs: Cech, Ramsey, Sokratis, Welbeck, Mkhitaryan, Lichtsteiner, Smith-Rowe.
Also, a synagogue in Pittsburgh was bombed yesterday. Hoping for a much better day today
This is a massive task for Palace today, with Arsenal on an 11 match winning run. They still haven't scored a home goal at Selhurst Park this season.
Morning Boys
The big match is tomorrow afternoon between the Spuds and Citeh. It will be interesting to see the table after that match
Good morning, UWS. Hope you got plenty of kip.
They're off from Selhurst Park.
We are off at Selhurst Park.
A full dozen?
The Gunners in all sky blue while Palace in their normal colors.
I guess the fans are the extra man, making twelve. That's my best guess. if they have the ref in their pocket too then that's a baker's dozen.
Palace yet to score at Selhurst. That's unbelievable.
Morning, UWS! How are you, mate?
The Scots League Cup semis being played today. Hearts vs Celtic coincides with this match and Aberdeen vs Rangers kicks off a half hour after the match from OT does.
Not keen at all on this turquoise Arsenal kit. It has nothing to do with their colors.
Zaha goes on a run and wins a corner off of Bellerin with Mustafi in close attendance. Bellerin heads the corner out for another.
I'm fine here... slept in far too late this morning!
Jay Leno catches the next corner and the Gunners win a free kick in the Palace half.
Jordan Ayew booked for that foul.
Me too!
No Messi
No Ronaldo
No El Classico...just El SoSo
Hazard not playing for Chelsea at Turf Moor today
That's a great way to put it, but still expecting a decent match. Will Barca remain top ?
Goal about to come
I am off to the loo
I guess Chelsea feel Burnley are a weak enough side where they can afford to rest him.
Have fun missing the goal, LOL!
Iwobi shoots well wide off a give and go with Lacazette.
El SoSo - luv it!
Oh - Zaha hits the Sunday Roast! Jay Leno was well beaten.
Oh - how did Andros Townsend miss there! Should have been 1-0.
OH!!! That goal nearly arrived . Townsend went on a great run down the right , sent in a cross that found Zaha and off of Leno's chest for a corner. Then Zaha played a one two then Townsend shot just wide off a short corner.
Naughty by Jordan Ayew on Torreira. Could have been a second yellow and an early bath.
Obi Wan Basaka fouls the Gunner's Hair Bear.
Chelsea takes the lead at Turf Moor. That's a real shocker.
Morata with the goal, assisted by Ross Barkley.
Just back... Chelsea take the lead...bugger!
Came up with El SoSo as I was typing!
Arsenal with a shot... all caused by players phaffing about with it at the back...how is it allowed!!!!
I missed the last bit of action , but read Lacazette and read that the Gunners shot just wide off a pass from Iwobi after Milovojevic was caught in possession
Bellerin took too long to shoot and his shot was blocked for a corner.
Welcome back. Technically you did miss a goal, but not in the televised match
The Gunners don't have an away match until November 25th. They sure won't have to worry about jet lag this month except for the international break.
IF and that is a big IF... IF United beat Everton today, they would only move up from 10th to 8th. They would jump over Wolves and Everton but still be behind the Big Five, Bournemouth and Watford
A bowl of lovely oatmeal has arrived at my side. Yum!
Zaha wins a corner off of Mustafi
It would be a start to turning around your season, though.
Jay Leno punches away the corner from Milovojevic .
Not sure why the Coyote and Xakha Khan are getting into it.
Just tuned in BBC World News on the website to listen to the headlines about Leicester and Hoddle
Agreed. A win would help turn around a dour start for us. Still, we shouldn't be lagging behind the Cherries and Hornets in the table.
I hear that Glenn is responding well to treatment.
I second that. Wishing him the best.
I read that he was given mouth to mouth in the BT Studio by a cameraman who also knew how to use a defibrillator
Bellerin has a cross come off the Coyote for a corner off a great attacking move.
WOW !!!! Well done by the cameraman.
Loftus-Cheek replaced Pedro because of injury
The Gunners have been a second half team this season, so expect more from them as the match progresses.
Oh - Jordan Ayew goes down too easily. That could easily have been a second yellow for him.
Jordan Ayew goes down , looking for a penalty as Mustafi was in close attendance. That looked a dive and another time that he should have had a second yellow. Woy should substitute him at halftime.
Wow - incredible story.
Morata should have had a first half hat-trick
Sloppy finishing apparently
Palace wins a corner.
Palace have a penalty!
PENALTY PALACE AS THOMKINS MISSED HIS KICK OFF THE CORNER AND MUSTAFI BROUGHT DOWN THE COYOTE.
Penalty to Palace
Surely....a no doubter.... Absolute pen
Will Palace score at home?
YES
One nil Palace!!!
Milosevic steps up and scores!
First goal for Palace at Selhurst this season.
1-0.
GOAL !!! PALACE SCORE THEIR FIRST PREM GOAL OF THE SEASON AT SELHURST AS MILOVOJEVIC PLACED IT IN THE CORNER, SENDING JAY LENO THE WRONG WAY
HT at Turf Moor
Pretty much last kick of the half
Palace one up at the half with their first Prem goal of the season scored at Selhurst
It's 0-0 at the half between Hearts and Celtic in a Scots League Cup Semi
There is a third NFL game in three weeks being played at Wembley today! The turf is getting destroyed!!
We are off
Second half underway
Second half starting up now. Lichtsteiner comes on for Bellerin. Must have picked up a knock.
Lichsteiner on for Bellerin as the Gunners have yet to lead at the half in their eleven match unbeaten run. Expect more from them this half.
That's a ridiculous number of NFL games at Wembley. That may affect the quality of that big match tomorrow afternoon.
Early free kick opportunity for the Gunners now.
Milovojevic caught in possession then commits a foul a foot outside the corner of the box. Second time this match
GOAL! What a strike!
I have the NFL game from Wembley on my link for BBC 2
It is amazing how many commercials there are in the US. Every time the game goes to a commercial, the BBC go to the panel or to the sidelines...They are there all the time
OH...Arsenal tie it up!
Great free kick....Keeper got a hand on that
Xhaka Khan hits one right into the upper 90 from an acute angle. Not a chance for Hennessy.
1-1!
GOAL !!! PALACE PAY THE PRICE FOR BEING CAUGHT IN POSSESSION AS XAKHA KHAN SINGS ABOUT SCORING A SPECTACULAR FREE KICK IN THE UPPER 90 FROM A DIFFICULT ANGLE.
Arsenal...second half team... is at it again
Now 1-1 as the Gunners second half success continues.
Arsenal with the momentum now.
Celtic take the lead vs the Queen of Hearts in a Scots Cup semi
GOAL! It's been given! Aubama has fired Arsenal into the lead!
GOAL !!!! PRESIDENT AUBAMA GIVES THE GUNNERS A 1-2 LEAD.
GOAL.... Arsenal turn it all around
Abum with the goal... goal line technology
The Gazette handballed it....did he?
Corner in there, Lacazette seemed to touch it on with a Hand of God and Aubama arrived at the back stick to shove it in.
2-1!
Celtic take the lead against Hearts in the Cup Semi Final
They are playing the match at Murrayfield. Home of Scottish RUGBY!!
The stadium is yards away from Hearts home stadium
Should the goal have been allowed? Looked like handball by Lacazette off the corner from Xakha Khan as the 44th President shot the ball off of Hennessey from a yard out and just over the line.
Did you see Roofe's HoG yesterday Bob?
Chelsea go two up at Turf Moor.
Ross Barkley, who has been in fine form recently , with the second Chelsea goal. He assisted with the first goal.
Barkley has doubled the Blues lead
Palace change now - Meyer on for McArthur.
Now Willian has made it three nil
Cometh the hour , cometh the changes as Max Meyer is on for General MacArthur as Uncle Woy makes the first Palace change
Great to see Ross Barkley in such great form for the Blues.
Scored last week... the bugger
The rout is on at Turf Moor. So much for being exhausted for playing an EL match
Bit fo argybargy now between Zaha and Lichtsteiner now. Atkinson wants a word.
That was a bad foul by Lichtsteiner but why wasn't Zaha booked for the retaliation?
Lichsteiner with a nasty foul from behind on Zaha and a ticking off from Martin Atkinson.
OH!!! Off the side of the Sunday roast on a Sunny Sunday by Max Meyer
Oh - Meyer, the sub, hits the bar from an acute angle. His first touch let him down.
The German has certainly injected some life into the Palace effort.
As it stands, Liverpool on top, Chelsea second, Arsenal third and City down to fourth.
If Spurs beat City tomorrow, they would drop behind Spurs into fifth
When I was talking about the Wembley turf, I was thinking of England matches not Spurs playing there TOMORROW!!!
The pitch is going to be all chopped up AND have all the lines and logos on the pitch
Meanwhile Sorloth came on for Jordan Ayew , which will add a more physical presence in the Palace attack
I agree with you. The pitch needs to be reserved for England matches, but sadly ,it's all about making a profit.
Lacazette is being replaced by Welly. Nope - it's Beaker trudging off now.
Celtic two up
Wellie on for Ozil, who throws a tantrum like an unhappy Beaker.
That's at Murrayfield, the rugby stadium.
yes....I posted that already
Neither of you read my posts
Bob is the worst at not reloading
Midweek, I posted TEN message before he twigged it that I was on the thread!
I did read your post. That's where I got the information about Murrayfield, otherwise I would not have known
Celtic three up at Murrayfield
United's line up has been announced....some changes!
De Gea
Young
Smalling
Lindeloff
Shaw
Fred
Matic
Pogba
Mata
Rashford
Martial
Bench
Sanchez, Lukaku, Lingard, Rojo, Herrera, Romero, Darmian
Iwobi with a long range effort deflected wide for a corner.
Three goals in the three main matches currently being played. All being led by the away team. Two at 0-3 and one at 1-2
Celtic looking set for a trip to Hampden Park in the near future. Is that the correct venue?
Now raining in South London after bright sunshine earlier on.
The final roll of the dice from the Emery Board as the 44th President is replaced by Ramsey
Who - moi?!
;-)
Lichsteiner upends Max Meyer and Martin Atkinson has had enough of his persistent fouling.
Arsenal just trying to hang on for the three points.
I was thinking the same, Bob.
Yes you Dahlgren....Pants
ANOTHER PENALTY TO PALACE!!
Dangled a leg there
PENALTY PALACE AS XAKHA KHAN DEFINITELY UPENEDED ZAHA ON A PALACE COUNTER . GREAT RUN AND PASS BY SORLOTH AFTER PALACE WON THE BALL DEEP IN THEIR OWN HALF.
DESMOND
Another pen for Palace!
Scored!
Desmond arrives at Selhurst!
GOAL !!!! DESMOND AT SELHURST PARK AS MILOVOJEVIC SCORES HIS SECOND PENALTY OF THE DAY, BEATING JAY LENO WITH PACE THIS TIME
Arsenal surrendered that one by dropping deep and trying to "manage" the match. They should have pushed for a third goal but they didn't.
I agree with Andy Townsend , Despite the leg being merely dangled, it was a stupid challenge from Xakha Khan.
I agree. The Gunners ware more than capable of adding to the lead and now may have dropped a pair of points.
PVA has a long range effort come off of teammate , Sorloth, and out for a goal kick.
The final roll of the dice from Uncle Woy as Jason Puncheon comes on for the injured Coyote for his first Prem appearance of the season.
Ramsey with a free header , but straight to international teammate , Hennessey off a great cross from Xaka Khan
Arsenal back down to fourth
City up to third
Palace has out shot the Gunners 16-6. What a surprisingly great performance.
Arsenal have thrown this one away.
A quartet of stoppage time minutes not music to the home team fans ears.
Free kick chance to Arsenal will he make it a dozen?
Free kick to the Gunners
Hopeless effort
Long range free kick from Xakha Khan harmlessly over.
Chelsea four up at Turf Moor.
Chelsea and Liverpool are tied on GD with +10(Pool have two more points)... City already ahead by SEVEN goals with one less game played
Goals matter...paying attention Jose?
Tongue N' Cheek with the fourth Chelsea goal.
So much for them being even then with Chelsea's fourth
It was a Cheeky goal at Turf Moor
It's over at both Murrayfield and Turf Moor.
Of course +16, +17, +23, +11, +9
United.....-1
Over at Selhurst Park where it finishes Desmond.
That's it...Desmond refused to leave
Off for walkies
I'll be back
Definitely cheeky, UWS
That's it, then. Arsenal drop points for the first time in two months. They'll rue the defensive posture that they adopted in the second half.
Back for the late one. What are you lot thinking about this one - confident?
Back from walkies with Sparky . I'm predicting a draw from this match
A moment's silence and black arm bands due to the helicopter crash
A moment of silence now for the victims of the helicopter crash at Leicester. Impeccably recognized.
Forgot about the match being on the local NBC and missed the first 90 seconds.
I did the same thing - we're away at OT.
COME ON MAN UNITED!
UWS must be walkies thinking United are a shadow of the teams that won titles.
Oh - was that a push on Richarlison? Close call. Corner.
Toffees attacking and a high teasing cross from Bernard out for a corner as he aimed for fellow Brazi, Richarlison.
Yash puts through Fred, but he's tackled as Yash got the ball off a throw from de Gea.
Coleman clears for a United corner that's headed away by Digne.
Smalling does well to keep the ball in play as the pass from Yash was over cooked. As I type, United cough up possession and the threat ends s Bernard fouls Yash in the United box.
I am back from a walk with Shadow smelling every leaf pile
Missed nothing?
End to end action early on.
Had the same problem with Sparky smelling every lawn.
Welcome back, UWS
Barca two up in El SoSo
This United side don't excite anyone!
Who needs Messi? A Real mess for Real.
Welcome back, mate. How's the weather your way today?
Chilly but dry
Theo has a cross deflected for a Toffees corner.
Free header from corner... straight at De Gea
HE WAS WIDE OPEN RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE GOAL SIX YARDS OUT
Free Toffees header off the corner straight to De Gea. United could have been a goal down early on.
Who is going to take charge at the Bernebeau after today's match?
Mo Po?
Wenger?
Conte?
Real B coach
Why are United sitting back at OT?
United don't DOMINATE anyone at home
Fred definitely not one with cat like reflexes.
So SLOW
Pickford should have brought a lounge chair to OT
Free header by Mata straight to Pickford off a great cross karate chopped into the box.
Mata should have done better with a header there
Should have been 1-1.
That was never a yellow card
