The First Storm of the Season
Greetings from a very snowy Fredonia, lads. We are in the midst of our first big storm of the season. What better to do but to enjoy some good footer on the telly, then. We start rather modestly with Cardiff v. Brighton. Neither side is in great form but Cardiff will be desperate for a win. That's followed at 10am with the usual Premiership and Championship of matches, none of them of particular note. The late ones are Palace v. Spurs and the big one for me, WBA v. Leeds.
Unfortunately, I'll be heading out into the snow for an Open House on campus for the late one. But I'll be warm and cozy until then. Join me?

Morning, boys. This is the first time that Cardiff and Brighton have met in a top-flight fixture. A Cardiff win would take them out of the relegation places, until 10am at least. A Brighton win would launch them into the top half.
Teams out on the pitch readying for a moment of silence for Remembrance Day:
Cardiff (4-2-3-1) Etheridge; Ecuele Manga, Morrison, Bamba, Cunningham; Gunnarsson, Ralls; Harris, Camarasa, Murphy; Paterson.
Substitutes: Smithies, Peltier, Bennett, Reid, Damour, Ward, Hoilett.
Brighton (4-2-3-1) Ryan; Montoya, Duffy, Dunk, Bong; Stephens, Kayal; Knockaert, March, Izquierdo; Murray.
Substitutes: Steele, Bruno, Balogun, Bernardo, Bissouma, Gyokeres, Andone.
Referee Martin Atkinson.
Cardiff pressing their claim early doors, mainly through Murphy out wide left.
GOAL! Just as Cardiff were starting to hope, Brighton have scored. And it was so easy. Free kick swept in and no one covered Dunn at the back post who nodded home easily.
0-1 Seagulls!
Our old boy Sol Bamba at fault on two levels for that goal. He gave away a cheap free kick to set up the chance. And then he completely lost Dunk when it came in.
Now Cardiff have a free kick chance in a dangerous area.
Camarasa wallops it over the bar.
That goal has flattened the atmosphere at the Cardiff City Stadium. At the moment Brighton, who are so strong defensively, look comfortable.
GOAL! Cardiff are Level! It was scored by Callum Paterson and made excellently by Kadeem Harris, who beat two players on the edge of the area, danced round the outside and hit a deflected cross that looped up perfectly for Paterson to head past Matty Ryan from about five yards out.
1-1!
WOW! It's all kicking off here. Dale Stephens plows into Greg Cunningham and is given a straight red. That leads to a general melee involving players from both sides.
Brighton down to ten men!
Good morning Bob. How have you been? We are having some cold weather so I had a late lion since it's a good morning for that.
Morning Boys
Sorry for the late start for me
I also have to clean up for a dinner party here with our old neighbors from Via Llino tonight
FA Cup First Round today
Pompey one up at half over Maidenhead
Quiz Time
How many can you get right?
9 out of 10 for me
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/46141785
How much snow Bob?
We had torrential rain but it was snow about 10 minutes away.
Second half underway
The second half is underway from Cardiff. Peter Drury and Leon Osmond the mouthpieces.
Good morning, uws. No snow here but overcast Drizzly and windy. England style style weather here
The FA Cup First Round started yesterday. Pompey one up at the half at Maidenhead United
UWS should be pleased about that latest Cup update
Yup...Wimbledon(Cup Minnows of the past) scored in the last minute to beat a non leaguer
Already posted it
Sorry I didn't refresh. That's why I'm missing the updates, but still pleased for Pompey
Not convincing from the Real Dons as that was an Isthmian League Harringey Borough, who actually was one of Mildenhall Town's opponents in league matches last season.
You're not as a bad as Bob for not refreshing
POMPEY TWO UP!!
Pompey two up at Maidenhead
Thanks. Glad to hear that
Did you get any snow as well? Probably chilly in ENY
Wow... didn't know that Mildenhall Town fact
MIldenhall have a little ground down by the swimming pool in Mildenhall. I use to play there but it was just a pitch. Now it looks like a little ground
Nope..just pouring rain but Jon was at friend's house and there was snow there
Hard to believe that Evil Neil turns 70 next month
WOW ! It's a definite change of seasons. Felt like Summer till yesterday. Now 50 and windy. Cold compared to what it was here
Pompey three up
Morning, guys - I just got back from doing some shoveling in the driveway. Crazy weather out there. Not that much accumulation but it's thunder snowing right now. Crazy.
OH!!!! Kadeem Harris had a curling shot crash off the bar . Nearly gave Cardiff the lead.
Good morning, Bob. Definitely crazy weather.Nice to stay inside and watch some football
I was wasting time after one of the interim tests with one of my algebra classes a couple of weeks ago. I was showing the Johnny Hates Jazz videos and also telling them about me growing up in England. One of the girls in my class said that here dad went to Lakenheath! He was in your year. Not sure of his first name... possibly Kevin or Keith but his last name was Johnson. He played Am Football and basketball
Congrats, UWS. Surely Pompey have all but clinched a place in the Second Round
Morning Bob...geez
I'll have a go at that quiz after this match ends. It's been a fairly entertaining one, if somewhat lacking in top quality.
Thanks for sharing , UWS. Sounds like Keith Johnson. He was a football player . I remember him well and he's one of my friends on Facebook.
I sort of remember a Kevin Johnson - what do you think, MUR?
Never mind.....
First corner of the match?
Really?
She came in the next day and asked if I knew Steve Sanchez. I said I played with him
Just took the quiz and scored 7 out of 10.
I remember Steve Sanchez well. MUR and I saw him at the Boston reunion.
I played with Steve and knew him as well.
Correct, Bob. He was there.
Sean Morison has had enough of a battering. Peltier is on to partner Bamba for the last quarter of an hour.
Cunnigham booked for a foul on a promising Seagulls counter.
Cunningham takes one for the team.
Great quiz, UWS. Nice to know I'm in the hat for the next round.
Junior Hoilett on for one of the Murphy twins
Neil Warnock is throwing Junior Hoilett into the mix now; Josh Murphy off.
Well done MUR with the quiz
Bob will be interested to read that the Plastic Wear Derby finished 0-0 from Bramall Lane yesterday
Thanks, UWS.
All this possession stuff and 'good play' is all poppycock if you actually don't get shots off
I was delighted by that Sheffield Derby result.
Final roll of the dice from Evil Neil. Bobby Reid on for Joe Ralls. Evil Neil going for it as a striker replaces a midfield player.
Nice on MUR... I did send a text to Our Bob about the good result from BL yesterday
United missed a pen and totally dominated
Kate's comment for the morning: "Bong thinks he's hot stuff - is he?"
A win for Not a Big Club would have been a better result for Leeds based on the table?
Sorry I didn't answer the text, mate. I forgot and left my phone at the office.
Leeds are giving everyone a head start today because they are kicking off late at the Hawthorns
Norwich and Boro have home bankers against Millwall and Wigan respectively
Derby host Villa
Did Bob reply? I read on FOTMOB and it appeared that way.
The match from the Hawthorns is probably the MOTD
All texts went unreplied last night, sadly.
I heard on the radio an interesting fact... well I thought it was interesting...the bloke that was run out for Sri Lanka for England to win the test match this week was playing his last test match. He was the last player to have played a Test Match in the 20th Century.... I AM OLD
How many footballers playing in the Premier League now played in the last century?
Milner? Who else?
I guess some keepers maybe
How about any league?
Buffon
Definitely the match of the day.
Great trivia question, mate.
Buffon played for Parma from 95
Pompey FOUR UP
I don't know many
We are old. How old is that Sri Lankan? No wonder why he was run out
Glenn Murray definitely played in the 90s - but not in the Prem.
NOT MILNER
He debuted for Leeds in 2002
Is there anyone?
Who was the last?
It was EIGHTEEN years ago
United won the Treble in 99.... are any of those guys still playing? Don't think so
I don't think Milner played last century. Perhaps some lower division or non league players have. Great quiz question.
He was in his forties... very ironic to be run out
Glenn Murray did not play last century. Last player from 1999 surely had to be Giggsy. Played until just a few years ago
Kate just noticed a bloke scratching his arse in the stands. She should be on the commentary team.
Weld done Pompey. Much better than the Real Dons, who needed a last minute winner at an Isthmian League side
Defoe made his first team debut in the League Cup vs Walsall in 2000
She sure should. Not a bong fan? Jerry Garcia sure is.
There's another fan who's impersonating the Cardiff player who has the Hitler mustache. Who is that bloke?
Matty Ryan fists around a powerful effort from Camarasa.
Jagielka debuted in 2000
Seagulls barely holding on as Cardiff press for a late winner.
Oh - what a crazy goal! Off the post and then off the bar and finally Kevin Phillips Bong stuffs it in!
GOAL !!! BOB'S BOY LOOKS TO HAVE WON IT FOR CARDIFF WITH A CLOSE RANGE EFFORT SMASHED IN
Goal... wild chances for the Blue Birds and finally Bamba Gasgoine solved the University Challenge
A quintet of stoppage time minutes.
Great footage of Neil Warnock kicking every ball on the sideline.
Cech debuted in 99 for Camel Blsany...not exactly Prem
I don't think there is anyone left
Who was the last?
Pompey four up
Bambi redeemed himself there. He gave away the free kick that led to Brighton's goal early on and has now won it for the Bluebirds.
It came from the fact that the Seagulls could not clear the corner. Sol Bamaba with a bicycle kick off the post then Patterson with an effort off the bar then Bamaba with a smashed in effort from a yard out
Oh - now it's Paterson, the bloke with the Hitler stache - who slices it just wide.
I doubt whether there is anyone left. Perhaps an ancient goalkeeper?
I was thinking of Giggsy as the last
How about Rob Green?
Walkies for Sparky on a cool, drizzly, breezy morning was this one is over. He loves this weather.
The stoppage time is up....
Trying to look it up
In 2016 people saying there was only Wes Brown, John Terry and Shay Given
Cardiff get another win...up to 16th
It's over as Cardiff make their man advantage count with a late 2-1 win . Off to take Sparky walkies
It's all over. Cardiff have done it...finally. They're out of the relegation zone at least for now.
I'm off for walkies in a chilly Scotia
Back for the Foxes vs Burnley and the first match at the KP since the helicopter crash
Back for Leicester v. Burnley. The teams are coming out with a lot of pomp and circumstance related to Vichai and Remembrance Day ceremonies.
Team news out of the KP:
Leicester: Schmeichel, Ricardo Pereira, Morgan, Evans, Chilwell, Mendy, Ndidi, Ghezzal, Gray, Albrighton, Vardy. Subs: Simpson, Soyuncu, Iheanacho, Ward, Okazaki, Iborra, Fuchs.
Burnley: Hart, Lowton, Long, Mee, Taylor, Gudmundsson, Defour, Cork, Lennon, Vokes, Wood. Subs: Heaton, Barnes, Brady, Hendrick, Westwood, Bardsley, Vydra.
Referee: Mike Dean.
A sea of white scarves now in the stands around the KP. Impressive!
Moment of silence impeccably observed .
Some of Bob's old mates starting for Burnley. Almost like an LUFC reunion
BONG! It’s 3pm in the UK, and it’s football time!
Off from the KP
That's why I hate Burnley these days.
BOOM BOOM! You're smoking hot this morning, mate
I am back.... I was wrong. I wasn't chilly... IT WAS BLOODY FREEZING!! The wind was wicked!
That makes sense. Don't blame you. It may be a return to ER for some of those players next season
Rugby on BBC 1 so Final Score will be delayed
Off to make power shakes for me and Kath
WOW! Glad you're back warm and ready for some more football.
Tangerines take the lead at Exeter
In the German Second Tier, Cologne defeated Dynamo Dresden 8-1. Smells like a thrashing
Terriers in the lead vs the Hammers as are the Ton vs the Cherries.Great news for the two teams who recorded their first Prem wins last weekend.
Settle in with a cuppa, mate. I have to head back out into the fray later for an Open House. You'd think they'd cancel but....
Joe Hart turns around a long range effort from Damari Gray
Two more corner for the Foxes.
They should cancel. Doesn't sound like the university uses common sense.
A couple of early goals in the Prem. Huddersfield are 1-0 up over West Ham in a relegation dogfight.
And Newcastle lead Bournemouth with a goal from Rondon.
It's very rare for them to cancel events.
Alex Pritchard with the Terriers goal and a goal has Runned On for the Toon vs the Cherries.
Sounds hard core, mate.
More Cup goals. Southend take the lead vs Crawley as Yeovil vs Stockport.
I am off
No
I am back
The Tractor Boys took the lead at the Mad Stad , but the Reading Railroad ties it up a couple of minutes later.,
Tractor Boys now lead 1-2 at the Mad Stad,
Swindon takes the lead vs Dick York
Wasall takes the lead vs Coventry and Aldershot take a surprise lead vs Bradford City
Off the line from a Vardy shot
Oh - cleared off the line from Vardy!
OH!!!Vardy ha s a close range effort cleared off the line after a Hart in mouth moment for Burnley
Great defensive effort from Matty Lowton.
Chesterfield may be winless in not so sweet sixteen, but smoke their way to a lead vs Billericay
Have I told you how much I love my First One website
All the channels!!
I"m watching Only Fools and Horses right now... love it
Swans take the lead at Bolton.
well done, UWS. A great site.
Sparky really needs a win today at home to Watford
THEY JUST TOOK THE LEAD
A top of the table clash in the Bundesliga today as Dortmund host Bayern. Kickoff the same time as the match from the Hawthorns
Gabbiadini with that goal, his first in ages.
Arlo is worse than me at following your updates
Tangerines two up at Exeter while Abe Lincoln takes the lead vs Northants
QPR fall behind at home to Brentford
Bury takes the lead vs Dover as does Macclesfield at Maid Stone
The Gazelle with a header off the bar as that was another Hart in mouth moment for Burnley
Brum 1 Hull 0
You're a technological marvel, UWS!
Bury two up vs Dover while the Fake Dons take the lead at Grimsby.
Leicester are all over these mugs like a cheap suit.
Tangerines three up at Exeter
Blackpool already three up at Exeter... where do they play?
YES.. Millwall take the lead at Carrow Road!
Rochdale two up vs Gateshead
Foxes could have scored five so far... but alas... the only scoreless game in the Prem so far
Great close range block by Joe Hart from Vardy
Oh - Joe Hart saves at the feet of Demari Gray.
So, if it stays like this... Leeds still on top
Scunny in the lead vs Richard Burton
Definitely - Leicester deserve to be 2 or 3 up at least.
Great news from CR despite are loathing of the Evil Lions
Still top, for now.
No repeat of '87 this year
Coventry already two down at Walsall
With your feet up... still top
A repeat of the 2008 Final still on.
Want updates from the Hawthorns?
Southport take the lead vs Boreham Wood.
Watford lost to Newcastle
Watford losing to Southampton?
Are they taking the plunge?
I picked them to go down.
Dan Bell: Watford’s slump has started early. They’ll be bottom 6 by Christmas
Nocito Sports Center
From Twickenham
England 15 World Champs New Zealand 0
A win at the Hawthorns for us today would extend the gap between us at the top and Swansea currently in 7th to seven points. We need a win!
Maybe Coventry have a chance.. 1-2
I did too. They have always slumped after great starts since winning promotion a few seasons ago
Perhaps Bob could use a sick day today to stay home.
Accrington Stanley take the lead vs Colchester
I thought about it, but I concluded that it might be bad luck for the boys. I'll do my duty.
Scunny two up vs Richard Burton while Seventh tier Stockport County, tier it up at Yeovil
Tranny in the lead vs Oxford ..... CITY
PNE take the lead at Bristol C..not a result...just a bit of gossip
I reckon that Watford will stay up but they've been over performing until recently. You lot should take advantage with a big win tomorrow.
You're a real trooper, Bob.
Nice one, UWS. I've just heard from Luton....that my aunt is ill.
A big win n the Manc Derby sure would be a huge surprise.
Cheers, MUR!
Seventh tier Stockport have come from behind to lead 1-2 at Yeovil.
Kapser turns around a free kick that was headed wide.
Oh - Gudmondsson with a great strike! Turned around the post by Kasper.
Yeovil have a history of giant killings. This time on the losing end?
Rondon has scored a second for Newcastle!
Bury three up vs Dover.
