Independence Saturday!
Is it Saturday? These days it is hard to tell. Not going to work AND football on EVERY DAY! A full slate of matches today on docket. Norwich/Brighton have already started a "watch if you're up" match. The Clough derby(including Derby) has started as well. Of course, the two Uniteds both have games at 3 o'clock...will they get 3 points? Man Utd are on the telly... but no coverage of Leeds Utd!

Morning all,
Slept in a bit this morning...of course I didn't miss a goal in the Premier League
Forest take the lead at Derby...not the score we want
I am hearing voices from inside the commentary box...it is echoes !
Delayed!
Saw an article yesterday on FotMob about Pogba and Bruno bumping into each other and each getting hurt...Bruno more!
It was originally from the Mirror
I haven't found it ANYWHERE else so who knows!
I join the match at Pride Park right at drinkie poo time
This would bring Forest back to within 4 points of the Baggies
Good morning Dave. Happy Fourth to you and your family. Have been watching the match at CR since kickoff
Haven't heard about Bruno and Pogba. That would be horrible for United
I was in the loo ... Brighton have taken the lead at Carrow Road
I agree with you about the E Midlands Derby. Forest closer to the promotion spots and the Rams need to move into a playoff spot so I can get two more PPP points
Morning David
I feel the same about the story. I can't be true if it is only on Fotbmob and in the Mirror
Welcome back. Canaries coughed up the ball and were caught on the counter. Nice pass from Aaron Mooy and good finish from Trossard
Agreed, Dave. Sounds like gossip
Strange watching Prem footie on the Fourth. Never thought we would be
I Just looked at the other L1 semi score. Wycombe won 1-4 t Fleetwood and have all but booked a trip to Wembley
Looks that way....hate Joey Barton!!
Of course, Northampton lost at home to Cheltenham in the L2 playoffs 0-2 at home...won 3-0 away and then won the Final 4-0!
Speaking of play offs...I am going to be texting you a video my cousin shared with me. It is a video that his shown at Fratton Park every match
Can't seem to forward it... sorry
WOW ! Didn't think Northants would go up. I was rooting for Colchester. Maybe next season
Derby fail to get a shot off....ala Premier League
I will definitely read the text once I get it
Roon must not be very influential so far
Into stoppage time at CR and a pair of two Daves stoppage time minutes
I hate Joey Barton too. Glad to read about his team getting stuffed
2 added minutes at Pride Park
The Seagulls are one up at the half bring the Canaries closer to being relegated and the Seagulls very close to clinching safety
I'm taking Sparky for walkies. Will be back soon
HT and Forest 1 nil up away from home
HT and Albion 1 nil up away from home
Panel talking about both teams wanting possession...Grrr
At least Robbie says it doesn't make a goal
Pukki and Cantwell on the bench....why on earth is Norwich doing that!
United arriving at OT.... Ole better not rest players.... go for the win!!!
I will be taking a walk during the second half of the early match. Be back and ready for the UNITEDS
Canaries have lost 34 of their last 35 matches when losing at half time
Off we go for the second half in East Anglia
Morning, boys! Happy 4th to you both. I had a bit of an Independence Day lie-in.
I see that the Canaries are up against it again. This must be a must-win for them, right?
Off again in the Midlands
Back for the second half
Morning Robert...welcome
We want the score at Pride Park to change too
Good morning, Bob. How are you? Canaries all but down of they lose and Seagulls all but safe if they win
Agreed about Pride Park.
Oh - Dan Byrne nearly snuck a second goal in there from a backward header off Mooy's delivery. That really would have torn it for Norwich.
Come on Wazza...show us some magic
Yeah - Forest have been on a tear similar to Brentford since the Restart. This would be a third win on the trot for them. Would love to see a Derby win in that one.
So how are you lot celebrating the 4th today?
I'm celebrating by watching Prem footie. How about you too?
Sorry. You two
How's your weather Bob...we have had so much rain this last week.... storm after storm after storm....did it come from your direction?
I've switched over to the Derby v. Forest match - come on, you Rams!
The weather here has been beautiful - I've been on my bike heading for campus all week. Supposed to be like that until Wednesday.
I'll be watching the footer and spending time with the family(bar Matt) He's on a boat somewhere
My brother told me that there are fans at the Italian league matches. What a bunch of morons! Do you two agree?
Appears to be all Derby pressure now.
No rain here this week. Hot and hazy. Not smog, but dust blown from the Sahara!
Sounds nice, mate - tell Kathy that we made her famous recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookie Delight as a 4th of July treat for today.
I'll be going on a walk soon. Waiting for Kathy to get ready... also I am waiting for the United line up and others to be announced... have to see if my players are playing
The Seagulls win a right and Propper corner
Other than the footie it's a normal day for us. We will see if any channels might be showing fireworks from previous years
Lovely....will do
We'll need maximum points against Blackburn today, as Brentford are playing Wigan today and WBA are playing Hull tomorrow. I don't expect much help from those relegation strugglers. Who knows what Wigan's reaction to their going into administration and having a points deduction will be.
How did they come out?
Gotta make the Scottish tarts too
Pukki not even moving off his chair...don't get it
They're always great - we've done them several times now, always in the summer for some reason. But we made this batch yesterday afternoon and have had it chilling over night.
We'll have a quiet one here, perhaps doing some yard work after the match and then grilling up some chicken and sausages.
Lamptey went down in the box, looking for a pen. Looked theatrical.
Looked Oscar Worthy
Elizabeth might make cookies. We're just staying safe.Any comments?
Lamptey looked like a numpty
Drmic straight at Matty Ryan
Watson hits one on the volley and the keeper shovels it around the post.
Drinkie poo at CR
All fireworks shows in this area cancelled. Very few fireworks went off from people and only lasted about a minute or two. Only about fifteen minutes between the one from the first person and the one from the last person
Forest go close twice
Another good his, this time from Lolley, and another save.
Todd Cantwell and Idah on. Daniel speak with Farke Tongue and Can't well wait so long to bring on his top player
Another change for the Rams now - hope it helps.
no fireworks here either
Any fireworks going off last night in ENY or WNY?
I normally go on a boat near the casino...remember that's why I had to leave the Cottage a couple of years ago
Graham " Harry" Potter about to make double change
We have an Iraq war combat veteran with PTSD in the neighborhood so the neighbors are usually really good about not setting off their own fireworks.
Probably won't work but...
https://www.sofascore.com/blackburn-rovers-leeds-united/JsW
The usual organized fireworks down on the Lake have been cancelled here.
Bernardo and Pascal Gross on for Aaron Mooy and Connolly.
A few people bought fireworks, but very little from what I heard outside
Off to make brekkies.
Pogba and Bruno both start!
Glad there was no truth to the rumor!
United
De Gea, Obi Wan, Lindeloff, Maguire, Shaw, Pogba, Matic, Greenwood, Bruno, Rash and Martial
When I take Sparky walkies very few people are even out. Is that true for walkies with Shadow? How about the streets of Fred Town?
I am now off for walkies
Agreed Dave. Glad it was just a rumor
Enjoy ,Dave
There are usually a lot of people walking the neighborhood
WOW ! Hopefully, everyone is being safe
Vrancic on for Tettey. That's another top player on the subs bench. I don't get it
Dale Stephens on for the scorer, Leo Trossard. Graham "Harry" Potter aiming to see out the one goal lead
Alexis McAllister on too. Not sure who he replaced
McAllister and Argie of Scottish descent. Interesting.
Hope the remaining matches are better than the ones currently being played
Pukki on now. I can understand him being on the bench because he's out of form
Lamptey booked for the Seagulls. Not sure why
Todd Cantwell booked for a foul on Lamptey. Into stoppage time
Half a dozen stoppage time minutes
I am back... Shadow just suddenly stopped, looked at us and said I'm done!
Norwich hit the inside of the post!
OH! Header from Ida off the inside of the post then cleared away. Canaries really unlucky not to tie i t up. Great cross from Kenny McClean
6 added minutes at Derby
Welcome back. A stoppage time sub to which you will be none too pleased
Header from Todd Cantwell well wide off across from Ben Godfrey
Derby get the ball at the back...he doesn't cross...tries to cut it back... Forest break...saved!
Typical modern day football..non poem?
That's it as the Seagulls win 0-1 at CR.
Brighton have won!
Norwich is in real schtook!
Canaries all but down and Seagulls all but safe
Waghorn off for a high boot
He'll probably out for three matches... including WB and Brentford
Not good news
Bloody hell - I'm just back from making scrambled eggs, biscuits, and fruit to see Waghorn sent off. Seemed a bit soft to me.
Rams down to ten men and that should all but do it at Pride Park
Welcome back Bob. Sounds like the Rams just got scrambled
Derby have tied it up!!!
Great news for Leeds!
Right at the end of the match!
YES! Chris Martin has scrambled an ugly one over the line from Roon's free kick!
1-1!
Definitely over the line...90+7
Forest have a free kick chance...modern day delivery...no...decent...headed clear
That's it!
Great goal for the top two
Forest are still 7 points behind Leeds and 6 behind WBA
Derby are level on points with Cardiff and 3 down in the goal department
Cardiff visits Ashton Gate today
Can Wigan use the administration as an incentive?
Their points reduction will not be take place until the end of the season
They will not be docked 12 points until the end of the season, if they finish in the relegation zone, the 12 points will be docked NEXT season. If they finish outside the drop zone, the 12 points will be docked THIS season
They would be bottom but not doomed ...they need points
Great result for us indeed. It keeps Forest at bay. We just need Brentford to drop points today as well.
And of course we need three big points for both of our Uniteds. I've noticed that we usually do well when we're playing at the same time. Hope that happens today.
That link I sent... have to start a trial
Forget that
Pablo still on the bench, why?
If United get a win today, they will have FINALLY overtake Chelsea...if only for a couple of hours!
Every time they have had the opportunity...they have blown it!
Not this time please!
United vs the struggling Cherries on NBCSN. This should be an automatic three points for United
I assume he still has a knock and isn't 100% - but he's been great off the bench the last two matches.
From the Beeb
Simon Stone
BBC Sport at Old Trafford
There was a bit of a buzz around Manchester United yesterday afternoon when a story appeared saying Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba were doubts for today's game after they were involved in a training ground collision.
Evidently either the story was wrong or the collision wasn't anything serious as both are named in an unchanged line-up by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Manchester United manager told the media at yesterday's press conference to expect a couple of changes.
WOW ! That's a great result and a surprise that the Rams scored with ten men
Pablo needs to start during the promotion run in
So, if United win and Leicester lose....and there is a 9 goal swing....United go third
Foxes vs Eagles on Plus. Thanks to Dave we can watch that one as well.
Two changes to our first XI as Barry Douglas and Gianni Alioski come in for Dallas and Costa.
Here's the team news:
Meslier, Ayling, White, Coop, Douglas, Kal, Klich, Harrison, Ali, Tyler, Patrick.
Subs: Miazek, Berardi, Davis, Struijk, Stevens, Shackleton, Goots, Poveda, Pablo.
I could see United finishing third at the end of the season.
Who is the player that Bielsa found in the chicken coop? Is he from the academy
Struijk and Goots on the subs bench are unfamiliar as well
Must win for Leeds at Ewood Park against a team that has been in poor form since the restart
Am watching the match from OT on the telly and the match from the KP on Gold
Come on, the Uniteds!
They're off from OT!'COME ON MAN UNITED!
That's our skipper Liam Cooper who has recovered from a slight hammy twinge on Tuesday. Glad to have him back in the fold. MOT!
We are off at Old Trafford
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
They're off from the KP
Agreed.
COME ON BOTH UNITEDS
Very bummed that Soccer Saturday is not on Gold
Our buddy Doug Fusella has just got back from a 50 mile bike ride in time for kick-off. Struth! I'd have to ride straight to the emergency room after that effort!
I agree - I miss all the banter. Hopefully they'll get it back.
Bruno makes a wasted pass to Pogba and he is dispossessed
Not commentary on Talk Sport or FotMob today - I'm relying on the LUFC updates.
Me too Dave. That's a big surprise and disappointment
I HATE THIS CRAP! I just don't get it!
3/11 of your team is inside your own area for a goal kick...WHY???
The Severn Derby on Plus. Not the best match out there
Not a good start for United
If I rode that far I would need an ice pack on my knee for sure plus the heat and humidity, which he rode in today
COME ON PALACE
uNITED BEING TOO CUTE IN THEIR OWN BOX BUT GET AWAY WITYH IT
As we kick off we're now two points ahead of WBA (albeit with a match in hand), six points ahead of Brentford and eight points ahead of Forest and Fulham.
Rash down for United. Collided with Nathan Ake
I knew United would come out and play like this!!
Ihenacho should have given the Foxes the lead. Headed a free header well wide off a great cross from Albrighton
Apparently some of the pubs in the UK have reopened this weekend. That sounds like an awful time, hunkering in a corner, with a mask on, trying to enjoy a sip or two lager. I'm happier watching at home.
Two chances to get the ball in the box...neither taken
Ball given away
I agree...the box is full of defenders.....get the ball wide... and makes run in the box
oooh...Bruno has a chance...missed
YESSSSS!!!!!
Patrick with an early effort that puts us 0-1 up!
LEEDS TAKE THE LEAD!
Bruno chips over past the on rushing Ramsdale
Great start!
Stoke take a much needed lead at home to Barnsley
They were in the bottom three at kick off
WAY HAY! CONGRATS, bOB. dELIGHTED FOR YOU
Come on...attack!
Attack with pace
Attack out wide
This NINE goal gap isn't going to be closed today
Potters going potty....two nil
United are trying to be too cute
Here's a bit of trivia for you boys, from the Guardian pod:
"If Leeds win the second-tier this season, that’ll be their first second-tier title win since 1990, when Liverpool were also last top-tier champions. Any historical precedents for this quirk?"
Evil Neil's lads now third from bottom
Stoke are our opponents at Elland Road on Tuesday. They're fighting for their lives.
I've pointed that out numerous times... AND...United won the FA Cup
Not sure, Bob. It's possible, but not sure
Leicester hit the woodwork
James Justin with a deflected shot off the bar for the Foxes
Bloody hell - Blackburn have hit the post!
Sounds like a right old ding dong at Ewood Park.
Bloody hell... pathetic defending by United
Sorry, chaps - Bournemouth take the lead.
Will this wake up United!
This squad always blows it when they go close
BUGGER! THE CHERRIES TAKE THE LEAD. JUNIOR STANISLAUS WITH THE GOAL. DE GEA BEATEN AT HIS NEAR POST AND HORRIBLE COMIC BOOK DEFENDING
United STILL walking
I sure hope so. United have come out flat
Free kick chance for United
They'll take it short
Pogba wins a free kick in a nice area.
Reading take the lead at Luton
Ayoze with a close range shot blocked. Pogbna wins a United free kick
Rash takes a shot...saved
Ramsdale turns around the free kick from Rash
Decent corner(beating the first man) headed over by Lindeloff
Lindelof heads the corner well over
That's Bamford's 15th goal of the season. Not a bad tally but of course in a potential title-winning side, you'd want your top goalscorer to be on 25 or so at this stage.
Reading two up vs Luton
How can Luton play like this after they played like that at ER
The Reading Railroad two up at Luton
Bamford should have scored DOUBLE that with what he misses
Every United player looks asleep
Obi Wan with a cross deflected for a corner
They came out thinking this was an easy win
I'm liking the look of the table right now - we're eight points clear of Brentford now. Come on!
