The Championship is Where It's At!
Let's be honest, chaps - with the exception of yesterday's Chelski v. Citeh match, the Premier League matches since the restart have been a been of a damp squib. Not so, the Championship, though. We had some rip roarers last weekend and I'm looking forward to more this weekend.
It all starts today with what promises to be a cracker. It's fourth place Brentford v. table topper WBA. As you can imagine, I'll be hoping for a draw, which would give us a chance to pip the Baggies for the top position with a big win against Fulham tomorrow.
Join me for all of the action on ESPN+ and here on the LOB!

Hi Boys,
I am in and out today doing stuff and probably going for a dip
COME ON YOU DRAW!
Wahay! The link on the Plus is working like a charm and we're just about set for this crucial fixture.
Afternoon, Dave - it's a gorgeous day here in WNY. Enjoy your swim, eh?
Some Bee hurt himself during warm up....not a smart thing to do
I've got it on for a bit
Slow start to this one - suits me!
am I watching the Prem?
Tomorrow Norwich v Unite FA QF match up on ESPN
Sunday Blades vs Gunners also on ESPN
I was very mature posting the Liverpool thread
LOL! It does look like one, doesn't it?
Yes, you were, mate. I was happy for them. Not so happy with all of the celebrating at Anfield - no masks, no distancing. Yikes!
"neither keeper trouble yet"
Says it all
I didn't say I was happy for them
Yep - I'm loving it!
Oh dear.... Leeds to go top but gap closes
GOAL! Brentford take the lead - Ollie Watkins with the goal.
Not good at all for us - that puts Brentford within five points of us, obviously with a game more played.
The Baggies are still top, albeit with only a two goal advantage on GD now.
I know...but Leeds WILL go top
I figure that tomorrow is a Must Not Lose, not necessarily a Must Win. I'd take a draw, which would keep us seven points ahead of Fulham and Brentford (if this ends a draw).
That would leave us with 14 points to get from seven matches.
Quite a round of games
4th vs 1st
2nd vs 3rd
Drinkies on board at Brentford now.
Is it a 10 o'clocker?
Good Afternoon, Bob and Dave Here to join you for the big Championship match.
It is; this is really the last biggie that we've got. After this it's:
Home to Luton (24th)
Away to Blackburn (8th)
Home to Stoke (18th)
Away to Swansea (9th)
Home to Barnsley (23rd)
Away to Derby (12th)
Home to Charlton (19th)
Finally got the link to load
Free kick to the Bees now....
Headed wide thankfully. The Baggies have done nowt so far.
That 's a great schedule for Leeds
Hiya, David - great to have you on board today. How are things?
Welcome David....not much to comment on
Yeah - tomorrow's match is at 10am.
A corner for the Bees
Useless cross by Phillips....modern day crap
Oh - Phillips finally got behind the Brentford back four back he couldn't find his mate Robson-Kanu.
I heard that Kate won't be playing in the match at ER, so that Leeds will win
I might be old school but I think this passing and triangles really boring to watch!
Slaven's glasses look identical to my reading glasses
The shortest distance between two points is a straight line not three vertices
WB with a break chance...atrocious pass
That's a studious look, mate.
It depends on what the end result is. I like a good passing game rather than just lumping it. But the Mourinho way is to deny the other team the ball as a first priority rather than actually trying to score.
Matteus Perreira down for the Baggies off a challenge from Ethan Pinnock
Sadly too many teams are using tactics similar to Jose. If it results in goal scoring opportunities then why not
Perreira magically back up. Was it the magic sponge?
Free kick chance now for the Baggies. I'd love to see this one go in.
Free kick to the Baggies. Floated in by Perreira and headed away. Raya catches the cross and his long punt leads to a Bees counter, but Benhrama with an awful final pass. An LOB blogging trio of stoppage time minutes
It's getting a bit testy out there now - half time could come at a good time here.
Dianghana down for the Baggies
ht....zzzzzz
I could be swimming
Rubbish free kick and then the Bees break. Fortunately, it comes to nothing.
And that's half time - Brentford go in 1-0 up. Let's hope the WBA can level it up in the second half.
Off you go into the pool mate!
Norgaard booked for a rash challenge on Perreira. Marcondes down for the Bees claiming foul play by Roaine Lettuce Sawyers
Halftime with the Bees one up
Slavan Bilic didn't like what he saw in that first half so he's ringing the changes at the interval. Let's hope it makes a difference.
And the Baggies are straight into the action from the off.
The Baggies make a double change and like for like as Kenneth Zohore is on for Hal Robson-Kanu and Phil Krivinovic on for Matty Phillips.
The Baggies attack from the off and Perreira shoots well over
Another near thing for the Bees there, with panic stations in the Baggies' defense. Cleared out for a corner in the end.
Ferreira picks off a goalie clearance and then gets pushed over. Nice free kick chance now for West Brom.
Free kick...straight into the wall
Ferreira appears to be lining this one up for himself.
Straight into a Brentford defender, who's down for the count.
He should have ducked
ooh....off the crossbar
Oh - Zahore with a cracking drive that rockets off the bar.
OH! Off the bar from Kenneth Zohore off a pass from Perreira . Nearly 1-1
Emiliano Marcondes booked for a poor challenge
Romaine Sawyers more like Tom with that poor cross easily gathered by David Raya
Nice one, mate! Boom boom!
WBA piling the pressure on - come you, you Baggies!
Slaven complaining to the fourth official. He forgets some of the challenges he made as a player
Cheers, Bob. Thought you would like that literary reference
Baggies corner headed away the cleared after a couple of crosses were headed away
Always love the literary references, mate.
Josh DA Silva with a pass out for a Bees corner
A poor Bees pass lands into the farewell Kathy Griffin stand
grrrrr
The Bggies win another corner
It's now Desmond on the corner count
Another Baggies change as Harper is on for Jake Livermore who played more like Liverwurst
Perreira with a long range effort straight to David Raya
Lost my internet for a bit!
Not often a post is completely ignored...no Pool fans no LOB
It's now drinkies time
Welcome back, Dave
A double change for the Bees Mbeuema and Baptiste on for Marcondes and Fosu as play resumes
Just added a comment, mate - thanks for the post!
Shot dragged wide from Brentford...come on DRAW
Oh - poor effort from DaSilva there. Could have settled it. Phew!
No need to add comment at all...I was liking that NO ONE cared that Pool won!
I was happy that they won - they were clearly the best side this season and deserved it.
Sorry. I wasn't on the LOB after the match. I will comment after the match
I wasn't happy since Pool are our arch rivals, but as Bob stated Pool were definitely deserved winners
You lot are still top of the heap in terms of Prem wins.
josh Da Silvba should have put the Bees two up , but dragged a close rnage effort wide
That is true. It was a thirty year wait for them
Sawyers with a ridiculous hoik of a shot at the end of that attack. They've just been toothless today.
Now then...WBA have a chance to swing a free kick in....
Another Baggies change as Cally Robinson on for Daingana
Baggies need a goal...still being "patient"...WHY?
Shoot and shoot some more...you cannot score if you don't shoot!
Oh - another chance for Brentford. Into the keeper's arms.
The match is opening up a bit now - could be some late chances.
Etahn Pinnock down for the Bees, holding his head
I agree, Dave - have a go!
I am stunned how uncreative teams are these days. No imagination at all
They havne't a clue what to do
Oh - the keeper nearly allowed that backpass to trickle by him for a second Brentford goal.
A draw would have been good for Leeds and promotion but this result is good for the Title!!
A Bees win does help Leeds, especially if Leeds wins tomorrow.
6 added minutes...and a Bee goes down right away
The Baggies bloody late with a change as Kyle Edwards is on for Perreira. Half a dozen minutes of stoppage time
Well, I suppose an alternate scenario is the Baggies falling away into third but that's a big if.
again... Baggies passing it around the back and midfield...they do know they are behind, right?
What a start to the restart for the Bees....beat two of the top three
A draw would have been better to keep the gap of the chasing pack
Much prefer a two horse race than a three
Of course....Leeds...just win baby
The Bees with a free kick just outside the Baggies box. The free kick from Benhrama is well over
This result is making it more of a must-win for us tomorrow. MOT!
thro in to WBA at he half way line....they go back all the way to the keeper! CLUELESS....sorry...it's the way to play
I HATE THIS CRAP
The Baggies have only themselves to blame for losing. They have lacked originality this evening
They need to be playing ROUTE ONE... get the ball in the box...that's where a big rectangle is...you have to put the ball inside that rectangle
I agree - they've been really off the boil since the restart. Slavan will need to rattle the teacups after this one.
Throw in....going back and sideways again...finally...they kadoomphed it forward but terribly
The Bees are deserved winners if this result holds
That's it...I will not go for that swim
Talk to you guys early tomorrow morning for United's trek to Wembley
TTFN
This is a huge result for Brentford; they've now beaten two of the big sides in the division in the past week. Thank goodness we don't have to play them.
Now - we need a big win against Fulham tomorrow.
It's over and the Bees deservedly win 1-0
Definitely a must win for Leeds tomorrow.
See you in the morning, lads!
