Love to see Pogba and Bruno to set the place on fire!!

12:58 PM

I've been wondering that as well. The PA system is a complete waste

12:58 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Wonder how much that cost the fans? Bob said Elland Road is charging £150

12:59 PM

Blogger manunitedrules said...

Dave, the Toffees are wearing bright pink shirts. Combined with the sun there is quite a glare

1:03 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Not too fun for the two Daves

1:03 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Decent move from Greenwood...shot blocked
At least we got in the other half

1:04 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

What happened to Bob. Is he at what they call work?

1:04 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Just win this FIVE NIL please.... score three often

1:05 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Blogger United We Stand said...

Almost!

1:05 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What is this "work" of what you speak

1:06 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Corner headed on then cleared away

1:06 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I need to look that word up in Webster's. It's a four letter word

1:06 PM

I was there the last time Pogba was on the Old Trafford pitch

His second half time substitute appearance

1:06 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

YES!!!!!!!!!!

Rashford sets up Martial!!

NOW SCORE MORE!!

1:07 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

WAY HAY ! UNITED KArate chop their way to the lead with a tap in

1:07 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

A simple goal. The Evil Blades failed to deal with a routine throw and and a pass from Rash was karate chopped in from a yard out

1:08 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Excellent! Let the humping of The Blades begin.

1:09 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

COME ON... WANT TO SCORE MORE!

1:09 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Good afternoon, Steve . Thanks for your support. It's a great help

1:09 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

A question for Dave and Steve. Why are the Toffees wearing pink at CR. How does blue clash with yellow?

1:10 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

United to carve apart the Evil Blades as if slicing a Thanksgiving Turkey

1:11 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I was looking on FotMob and is says that Norwich v United and Blades vs Arsenal in the Cup this weekend is on ESPN but it isn't on any of my guides!! I guess we will have to do with Plus

1:11 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United actually haven't passed that well so far

1:12 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I think that's correct. Plus has been broadcasting all the cup matches since last season

1:12 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Terrible defending from United....they just let him shoot

STRUTH....UNITED SHOULD HAVE BEEN TWO UP!!!

BLOODY HELL

1:13 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I know they have but because ESPN don't really have live sport to show...I thought there was a change... Again FotMob said it was

1:13 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

BLOODY HELL! United miss a wide open goal. Superb break and it should have been a second karate chopped goal and instead passed when he had a sitter. Rash should have scored too

1:14 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

There's no logic to the away kit usage any more. We roll out that horrible midnight blue if there's even a sniff of red in the home team's badge. I don't like it.

1:14 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I agree that ESPN should show the cup matches, but it may be part of the broadcasting rights. Poor by ESPN

1:15 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United were two down at Bramell Lane and then took the lead with 3 goals in about 6 minutes....then sat back and conceded the equalizer... they stopped playing the way they did to get three goals

United KEEP giving the ball away

1:15 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What an atrocious miss by Rash!!

1:16 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

he announcer at CR said Marco Stiepermann was the Canary that tested positive. I thought that was supposed to be anonymous

1:16 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Teams should wear their regular colors except if it clashes!

It shouldn't be home and away kits
It should be first and second kits

1:17 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Baldock fouls Bruno off a slide rule pass from Rash

1:18 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United never used to change when they didn't have to but now they are starting to!

Arsenal were a big culprit changing colors. I don't know why they wouldn't want to wear RED

Nice effort from Bruno

1:18 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Free kick from Bruno turned away by Simon Moore

1:18 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH! Rash failed to control a pass with just Simon Moore to beat

Rash should have scored again

Gotta score these chances!

1:21 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

ball in the net.. Maguire nets it... VAR to check

1:21 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Long range Canaries effort deflected an inch wide of Picks goal

1:22 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

No goal

At least, the corners have been somewhat dangerous

1:22 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

So many chances. It could already be a cricket score.

Good afternoon, Bob

1:25 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Play resumes at CR

1:25 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I agree. The red/white traditional kit should be worn by Arsenal unless there's a very direct clash.

We may end up wearing a 3rd kit of white with maroon shorts next year. That's utter shite.

1:25 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

WOW! That is a horrible kit, but nearly as bad as our salmon our camo kits.

1:28 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I just don't know where these acid induced fantasy kits come from, but I find the most fault with the club for deciding that they're ok.

1:30 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

YIKES.... is it close to the centurion kit color

1:30 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Long range effort from John Lundstram lands in Row H

1:31 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Of course it is about the $$$$
In 90s, kits last for at least two years

1:31 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

My question is why the early televised match tomorrow is Burnley vs Hornets instead of Saints vs the Gunners. I don't get that

1:33 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Why oh why couldn't Untied be three up!!

1:33 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

GOALS matter

1:33 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed, Dave. Sad but true regarding the financial greed.

1:33 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

STRUTH... Blades putting lots of pressure on United.... given so much space in the box

1:34 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

It's not been confirmed, mind. But I wonder how many of the really awful ones get sold to English fans. I only ever see the international fans wearing them.

1:34 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The Evil Blades win a corner off a long spell of possession. Don't like it

1:34 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I'm not sure , but that's a great question about those dreaded kits

1:35 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

At least this game has had a goal.... all the others... WHAT IS GOING ON!!!

1:36 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Bugger.. Bruno is being attended to on the side lines...he better not be hurt

1:36 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

He's back on..phew

1:36 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The Evil Blades win another corner

1:37 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Thankfully, the corner is over cooked and goes out of play

1:38 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Play stops down for the Evil Blades

1:39 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

McBurrnie to come on in his place

1:39 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Play resumes . Not sure if that change was made

1:41 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

SHOOT... why didn't Bruno shoot

Then patheticness by Pogpants

1:41 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

So many teams play at walking pace in possession
Serie A from the 80s and 90s

1:43 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

YES!!!!

MARTIAL WITH HIS BRACE!!!

Bruno could have or should have scored

1:44 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

WAY HAY! UNITED GO TWO UP WITH YET ANOTHER KARATE CHOPPED GOAL

1:44 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I never gave any credit to the idea that the restart would be anything like the football before they stopped in March. Pre-season and early season games are always a bit rubbish before sides click into their groove.

1:44 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Long United possession that culminated in a pass from Obi Wan being karate chopped in against the Darth Vaders

1:45 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

That was so easy. Sheffield's defenses cracked open with ease. Please pile it on.

1:45 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I second that emotion

1:46 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I agree Steve. It will take several matches to approach the standards before the break. Also, without fans it has the feel of a friendly

1:46 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Into an LOB blogging trio of stoppage time minutes at OT and a pair at CR

1:47 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I third that emotion. Sorry Smokey

1:47 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

another chance.... United had another chance but didn't get the ball over!!

1:48 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It's 0-0 at the half at CR

1:48 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

United two up at the half

1:49 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Actually, the matter of an Evil Blades corner. Now halftime

1:49 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Half time... United two nil up but should have been more

Please score more in the second half United!

1:50 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Int's 0-0 at the half at SJP and 0-0 at Molineaux in stoppage time

1:50 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Now halftime at Molineaux and 0-0

1:50 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

2-0! Lovely. I'm hoping you score a truckload in the second half. I'd take 8-0 against these clowns.

1:51 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Don't sugarcoat it... no goals all the time!!
Not good enough

1:53 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I dunno. Look at how the Blades are set up. They are anti-football which sort of requires that Manu control the ball with a patient build-up before cracking their thing open.

If you simply ran at them, it would be the naive stuff that's got Norwich a trip back to the second tier.

The way the Blades set up is why I wish them a hasty return to the C'ship. But setting up as rigidly as they do is the way a very inferior side can be just a bit better than the relegation fodder.

Maybe you won't agree, but sides like Sheffield, Burnley, Brighton, Soton, and their ilk make as strong an argument for a 16-team Prem that would allow a winter break as there is.

1:53 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I agree but all teams want to pass it about and not get the ball in the box... it's the 'way to play'...it drives me nuts!

The crossing of the ball is a lost art. Having more than two players making runs into the box almost never happens!

BLOODY PEP

1:56 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I hate how they are going gaga about Liverpool!

There is City and Pool and the rest are just eeehhh

The years United and Arsenal were winning, there were some good teams

1:59 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Pep's shit can be beaten. His tiki-taka doesn't make the better German teans cringe. What's needed are better teams in the Prem that punish that kind of approach.

I take your point however that against a slight but stolid side like the Blades, you would like to see more adventure. I would too.

2:00 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I also think the 5-subs accommodation has been a bust. The entertainment value of that many fresh players has not been evident.

2:03 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Get the grins off your face until it is FIVE NIL

2:04 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Entertainment....was is that of what you speak!

2:05 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Off we go...United attacking the wrong end for the second half!

COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U

2:09 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

please score another

2:11 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Now UNited win a corner

2:11 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United corner....at least beat the first man! Was it Becks to Scholes...sadly no... United go backwards

2:12 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed. We want Simon to concede Moore goals

2:12 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Everton take the lead a Carrow Road

2:13 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL !!! MICHAEL KEANE HEADS IN A CORNER TO GIVE THE TOFFEES THE LEAD AT CR

2:13 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Entertainment is that thing that Little Joe snidely dismisses as casually as the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy whenever his approach is challenged. If the Spurs-Fanboy media weren't so interested in a place at Little Joe's cool-kids lunch table, you'd have real journalistic discussion of why matches like this one, which could and should be a thrilling rout, aren't.

2:14 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

pisspoor cross by Obiwan...ball fails to get into the box again

2:14 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

ooh...Greenwood with a shot deflected just wide

2:15 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH! Inches wide by Mason Greenwood

2:16 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The useless corner is back

2:16 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The match between Spurs and Hammers was a match consisting of two managers who were sacked by United and showed us precisely why that was the case

2:16 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Blades ONE shot on target in 2.5 games...what is the point of the sport!!

2:16 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Useless corner AGAIN!!!

2:18 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I think it was the first time in Prem Era

2:19 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I agree about the five subs. I thought it was a great idea at the beginning, but now see it has been more a nuisance than anything else

2:20 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Wonder when the last time it happened?
Did Big Ron play against Doc, Sexton?
Has it EVER happened before?

2:20 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Also, Not a single goal scored by the Evil Blades. Definitely not sharp, but rather like old rusty cutlery

2:20 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Martial has two chance... great dribble by Pogs

2:21 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I know you don't like it when I recommend books, but there's a marvelous one written by Jonathan Wilson of the Guardian titled Inverting the Pyramid. It's all about the evolution of football tactics from the original ideal of mad and thrilling dribblers to the cagey chess matches we have today. It's dense stuff when it's about Uruguay of the 1920s, or Spartak of the '30s, but good one-chapter at a time as it tackles the Magyars of 50's, Internationale and Estudiantes of the 60's, and the various incarnations of Brazil from their '62 win to today.

2:23 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Big Ron's Baggies against Doc's Rams in the 1977-78 and 1978-79 seasons. Big Ron's United against Sexton's Coventry in the 1981-82 and 1982-83 seasons. Sexton's United against Doc's Rams in 1977-78 and 1978-79. Not sure if I missed any

2:25 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

That's a great recommendation, Steve

2:26 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I think that means NEVER... not EX United manager has faced another EX United manager until yesterday

2:26 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I have seen all three Prem goals today. Already one ahead of yesterday, but two behind Monday

2:26 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Drinkies at CR

2:27 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Dwight Gayle puts the Toon one nil up vs Villa

2:28 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Sorry I missed the question. I was busy reading a Father's Day Man United card Melanie made and mailed to me. I'm going to text to you all once the match ends

2:28 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

A rare goal for Crystal Gayle. That music to Brucie's ears

2:29 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The drinks break is ridiculous too. I just disrupts the match.

2:30 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Nice

2:30 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Raul Jimenez gives Wolves the lead vs the Cherries

2:30 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Gayle just came on the pitch
Assisted by Carroll who just came on too

2:31 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Greenwood with a shot well wide but he SHOT!!!

2:31 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Not good by Shaw.... a corner given up... I would play Williams

2:32 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I guess it's a concession to the summer heat. I do think that the players could simply walk over to partake of a pre-set out array of drinks and the managers and coaches could stay seated so it's not a tactical break.

2:32 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Great substitutions from Brucie

2:32 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I'll be missing the second half of the Liverpool match. Picking up Kathy from work

2:33 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed, Steve. What about days that are cool, damp, and rainy. Are drinks really needed then?

2:33 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Hate the drinks break

2:33 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

YES!!!!

MARTIAL SCORES HIS HAT-TRICK!!

2:34 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

It is hot over there today...high 80s

2:34 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

WAY HAY !BRILLIANT UNITED TEAM GOAL AND A KARATE CHOPPED HAT-=TRICK AS UNITED GO THREE UP

2:34 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

First hat-trick post Fergie... RVP vs Villa... they won that league that night

2:35 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I would take upper 80s in a heartbeat

2:36 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I recall watching an ACN match once from S. Africa and they were just not doing anything but passing it around in the back for like 4 minutes, and they hadn't crossed into the other half.

All of a sudden, the referee blows his whistle, and penalizes the S. Africans. Their offense? Time-wasting.

I thought it was genius referreeing.

2:36 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

THat's a great stat and well overdue

2:36 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The refs need to call that sort of time wasting more often and even some bookings would help

2:37 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I don't think the drinks-break will continue into the cool weather.

I do have concerns that the 5-sub rule might.

2:37 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United to make FOUR substitutions ?
I would think Ighalo, McTom, Fred and James...that's my guess

My Bad... FIVE!!

Ighalo, James, Peirra, Mata, McTom

2:38 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

YIKES! This is the first time I've seen what's about to be a quintuple change. Olly will go into the record books

2:38 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

We want four! We want four! We want four!

2:38 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

It's like an international friendly now with these changes. I do not like it.

2:39 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Off comes... Martial, Pogba, Rash, Greenwood and Bruno

2:40 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Half the outfield players have changed...HATE IT!

2:40 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I would have kept on Greenwood to get him some time!

Could he be part of the starting front three?

2:41 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Here's the mammoth change:

Dan James for Rash, McTomain for Bruno, a small Mata of Greenwood coming off, Ighalo karate chopped on for the hat-trick hero, and Perreira for Pogba

2:42 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

You've got this one sewn up nicely. I'm going to go get some sunshine before the next match at 3:15

2:42 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Decent long range save by De Gea from McBurrnie. Blades just doubled the number of shots on target since the break

2:43 PM

El Mohammedy with that goal

2:44 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Villa still second from bottom, but now behind the Cherries and Hammers on goal difference

2:45 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Half a dozen stoppage time minutes at CR
