I'll be watching the Welsh get their hopes crushed by Belgium until it gets too sad. Join me.

Not for want of trying El Prez. Can't think of every eventuality.

Good afternoon, Steve. here for the rematch of the upset in the 2016 Euro quarters when Wales won 3-1

3:49 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Goodness, no messing from Martinez. The Belgians tonight are Courtois, Alderweirald, Vermaelen, Vertonghen, Meunier, Boondogger, Tielemans, T. Hazard, Mertens, Lukaku, Tintin.

The Welsh are Sean the sheep, his mate, his other mate, etc, and Bale.

3:52 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

More bad news for the Welsh. Joe Allen just got the heave for maybe a muscle problem.

3:53 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Al Prez, it stretches the realm of credibility that the scoreline will be similar tonight.

3:55 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Oh! Against the run of play the Welsh concoct a lovely break culminating in a goal from James, assisted by Bale.

3:56 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL! WALES TAKE A SHOCK LEAD . NICE ONE TOUCH PASSING DAN JAMES AND BALE COMBINED THEN NICE PPASS FROM BALE TO HARRY WILSON, WHO SCORED WITH A NICE FINISH

3:57 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Will history repeat itself with the Euro 2016 quarter upset?

3:58 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Sorry I thought that it was Dan James who finished that move off.

Tielemans with a volley deflected off of Ampadu for a Belgian corner

4:01 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Cross from KDP supposed to take a Chunk out of the Wales lead, not Row T. After all the shot was from two yards out

4:02 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

No problem. I originally thought it was him too. The announcer mislead us.

4:03 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Here's some interesting trivia: The managers for this match aren the two Robbie's . Page for wales and Martinez for Belgium

4:07 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Tielemans is one that I never saw coming. I've had to reevaluate my dismissal of him this year. I still think that the rules of the game have not kept up with his style of persistent fouling in areas of the pitch that the ref is disinclined to punish. But his goals have been the difference at this point. 6 from his position is no joke.

4:07 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Tintin levels the score with a scorcher from outside the box. CR-ACK!!

4:08 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL !!! KDB TIES IT UP FOR BELGIUM WITH ONE OF HIS TYPICAL LONG RANGE CRACKERS IN THE BOTOOM CORNER OFF A PASS FROM THE YOUNGER HAZARD, WHICH IT WAS FOR WALES

4:09 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

France go 1 up with a Griezmann goal over the Ukes.

4:10 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I like Tielemans as a player. we could definitely use him at United in place of someone like Pogba or our karate chopper

4:10 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Ireland leading the Serbs 1-0.

4:11 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It's all tied it up in the battle of managerial wits between the two Robbies

4:11 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Slovenia 1-up over their Croatian cousins.

4:12 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL !!! YOUN G HAZARD IS ONE AS HE HEADS THE BELGIANS INTO A 2-1 LEAD WITH A FREE HERADER OFF A GREAT CROSS FROM MUNIER. THE DEFENSE AND KEEPER GULTY OF BALL WATCHING

4:14 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

That was really poor defending from Wales letting the other Hazard head home unopposed.

4:14 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

That's a minor upset in that match of family feud

4:14 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The welsh defenders were mistaking for being Belgian because they were in a waffle

BOOM BOOM

4:16 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

All to do for the Welsh now, pinned back to 1-2. The Belgians now can choose to throttle Wales.

The Czechs have come from behind to lead 1-2 in Estonia

4:17 PM

Russia has taken the lead in Malta

4:18 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Sad to see how toothless the Dutch have become. Or maybe it's better put as remain. They may miss another finals unless they can find some magic.

4:21 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

The Belgians and the Welsh both look like they're playing in away kits.

4:24 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The Dutch have declined since Fat Ronnie went to Barca and was replaced by Ronnie the Bore, who only lasted four matches as Palace manager

4:24 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Czechs now lead 1-3 in Estonia

4:25 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

It hit me that Ramsey isn't in the squad. Injured again and out until mid-April if Footmob is any judge. I still miss him, even if our options in his area of the pitch have improved. Lovely player when he's not in the sick-bay.

4:28 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed. He's a great footballer, but the reason the Gunners transferred him was probably due to injury problems

4:30 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

An LOB blogging duo of stoppage time minutes

4:31 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Estonia didn't pick DC United forward Erik Sorga today. He's deadly in a Estonian kit... not really.

4:31 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Norway takes the lead in Gibraltar. What took so long?

4:31 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Czechs lead 10-4 in Estonia. Czech mate, mate?

4:32 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Belgium has come from behind to lead 2 -1 at the half

4:33 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

He left because Emery canceled his contract talks. One of the classic Arsenal brain farts, IMHO.

4:33 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Portugal has taken the lead vs Azerbaijan thanks to an OG
Russia two up in Malta
Latvia took the lead vs Montenegro, who tied it up a minute leader

4:34 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The Emory Board was good for plenty of brain farts. presumably you don't miss him

4:35 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Serbia tied it up vs Ireland a few minutes before halftime

4:36 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Ødegaard is playing but I want him subbed off to start the half. No taking chances with him.

4:36 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

No, I don't miss Emery. But I have sympathy for whoever took the reins over after Wenger. Anybody was on a hiding to no-where post Le Boss.

4:38 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Norway two top in Gibraltar at the half. Both goals scored in the last couple of minutes of the half

4:42 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

If Norway adds a third goal then Odegaard will probably be subbed at the hour mark. The Emory Board was like Moyes str United after SAF, on a hiding to nothing

4:43 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

In French Wenger would be called le chef, according to the lessons I'm taking

4:44 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

The French media calls him Le Professeur steering clear of all cooking metaphors.

4:46 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I just checked and Belgium had 80% possession in the first half. For all that they only lead by a goal. Norway had 85% possession in Gibraltar in the first half

4:48 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed. That would make him the teacher, which is a good description of his philosophy

4:49 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

The Moyes comparison is apt. Only a maniac doesn't wait for the dust to settle after decades of success.

4:49 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The second halides underway as Jason the denier on for the former Gunner

4:50 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Czechs lead 1-5 in Estonia . Soucek with a hat-trick

4:53 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Those stats are similar but entirely different. You would suspect thzt if Gibraltar started giving it a real go, Haaland would come alive.

With Wales, there just isn't anyone in the squad, maybe with the exception of Bale who is remotely international class.

4:55 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The ref was a denier as Josn should have been booked for a foul from behind on Joe Morrell

4:55 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

They do have some decent , but not world class players in Dan James, Joe Rodon and Neco Williams , who can keep this from being a blowout. I wonder if Ben Davies is out injured. Tyler Roberts is a decent option off the bench

4:58 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Bosnia takes the lead in Helsinki

4:59 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Look at the way the Belgians are walking this. Roberto's been taking the Zoom classes with Pep!

4:59 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Czechs now lead 1-6 in Estonia

5:00 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It sure seems that way with Bobby Martinez

5:00 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Norway three up in Gibraltar

5:01 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

All decent club servants, but not bar Bale has a reasonable claim on International inclusion.

5:02 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Pukki ties it up for Finland vs Bosnia
Malta pulls it back to 1-2 vs Russia

5:02 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

KDB with a shot blocked for a corner

5:03 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Nice! And Ødegaard didn't return for the second half. Arteta may have had a word. He's been essential for us and the Norwegians don't need him to win handily against Gibraltar.

5:04 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Walesd has a tough group this Summer , but these players may be able to keep the losses down to close losses instead of blowouts

5:05 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed about there being no need to keep Odegaard on in the second half

5:06 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Kosovo two up vs Lithuania.

5:07 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The Ukes tie it up in Paris thanks to an OG

5:08 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

KDB with a shot that lands in the side netting after the Chunk had two shots blocked

5:10 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Lukaku really should have finished that.

On comes Bob's Roberts.

5:10 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Some LUFC representation as Tyler Roberts on for the scorer, Harry Wilson

5:11 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Jason was the Denyer because he will let the ball or man pass , but not both. He opted to let the ball pass him instead of Tyler Roberts with a challenge that was foul, not fair

5:14 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Kosovo three up vs Lithuania .Serbia takes a 2-1 lead vs Ireland

5:15 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

penalty belgium as chris mepham trips dis martens

5:16 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

The score in Portugal is not impressive at all.

Mertens wins the Belgians a pen from a really poor challenge. Lukaku takes a very confident penalty. 3-1 and pretty much all sewn up.

5:17 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL !!! THE CHUNK SCORES FROM THE SPOT, SENDING DANNY WARD THE QWRONG WAY TO GIVE BELGIUM A 3-1 LEAD

5:17 PM

Some familiar faces involved with that latest Serbian goal. Mitrovic the scorer, assisted by Tadic

Pukki at the double as Finland have come from behind to lead Bosnia 2-1

5:22 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Serbs now lead Ireland 3-1 . Same combo as listed at 5:19.

5:23 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

A striker for a winger as Kieffer Moore is on for Bale while Timmy Castagne on for young Hazard giving Belgium two many foxes on the field

5:28 PM

Ireland scores in Serbia , but trails 3-2

5:32 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Russia takes a 1-3 lead in Malta

5:33 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

A really late stoppage time substitution to ruin Dave's day as Seagulls striker, Leo Trossard on for Dris Mertens

5:36 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It's over as Belgium have defeated Wales 3-1

5:37 PM
