Saturday Once More
Morning, boys! It's that time again. The time that we gather here to chat about the good stuff at the end of a busy workweek. First up today is Chelsea v. Norwich. My patented rubric says that this one needs to be a firing squad for the Blues - I want double-figures against the Canaries. Then we've got my beloved Leeds on the channel for the first time in weeks in a crucial one against Wolves at Elland Road. We finish with Brighton v. Man City. Another ritual slaughter there, please.
Join me for all of the fun and goals, eh?

The NBC Sports crew are doing one of those Fan Zone events in LA this morning. Looks fun - apart from the rain, that is.
Good Morning, Bob. Here to join you for the Saturday matches. Thank you for getting us started and how was your week?
The fans must be tired . Kickoff for the opening match is 4:30 Am local time.
The teams now out on the pitch at Stamford Bridge for this top v. bottom clash:
Chelsea: Mendy, Chalobah, Thiago Silva, Rudiger, James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Chilwell, Hudson-Odoi, Mount, Havertz.
Subs: Arrizabalaga, Alonso, Christensen, Loftus-Cheek, Saul, Barkley, Ziyech, Azpilicueta, Sarr.
Norwich City: Krul, Kabak, Gibson, Hanley, Aarons, Lees-Melou, Normann, McLean, Giannoulis, Sargent, Pukki.
Subs: Rupp, Dowell, Rashica, Tzolis, Sorensen, Williams, Gunn, Idah, Omobamidele.
Referee: Andrew Madley (West Yorkshire).
Morning, David - yes, Becky Lowe was just saying that the Chelsea fans were first through the door at 2am!
I'll bet you're looking forward to that extra hour of sleep on the East Coast, eh?
I was on the road all day Tuesday and Wednesday and didn't realize that Brucie won the sack race. That Saudi money really influenced that result.
They're off from SB as it's top vs bottom
And we're off - let's have some Chelsea goals early and often here.
Correct, Bob. Looking forward to the extra hour sleep and the fresh mountain air. The house closes on December 17th, my birthday, and the movers move everything in on the 18th.
Actually, Watford's Xisco Munoz won that sack race a couple of week's ago after Leeds beat the Hornets. Brucey is #2 out the door this season.
Good to see both teams wearing their traditional kits and why not?
WOW ! I'm really behind the times. That must have been when we were on vacation. Didn't realize that 70 year old Claudio Ranieri is now in charge of the Hornets.
I think I might have picked Xisco as sack race winner. Not sure though
Decent long range shot from Rudiger and Krul luck for him as it's a decent save by Timmy the keeper.
Steve must be delighted at the win vs Aston Vanilla.I hope he celebrated the win with some vanilla soft serve ice cream
GOAL !!!! NOW THAT';S WHAT A CALL A MOUNTED GOAL. NIOCE ONE TOUCH PASSING AND WELL PLACED FROM THIRTY YARDS OUT
Wahay! That didn't take too long. Mason Mount rifles one in from the edge of the area.
1-0 Blues!
Kovacic won the ball in midfield then about ten pass slater , Hudson-Odoi made a run down the left . His cross was headed out and Jorginho passed to Mount and his well placed shot from just outside the D went through Ben Gibson's leg and off the inside of the post
You will be happier than the two dave's who need a United win and a Chelsea loss this weekend. Neither likely to happen
Not sure if you saw but Leeds vs Wolves is on NBCSN today.
Chelsea are all over the poor, hapless Canaries right from the off.
I did see that! We haven't been on the box in several weeks since that win over Watford. I'm hoping for a similar return today.
Steve was really delighted by that win. Now the Gunners are safely in mid-table and can build from there.
As things stand Chelsea will finish the weekend top regardless of the other results
I know this is pending other results this weekend , but the Gunners are only a point off a CL spot. Hard to believe after losing their first three matches.
definitely so, mate. it should be a tight match vs Wolves, who are mid table , but on a good run of form
GOAL !!!! GREAT SLIDE RULE PASS FROM KOVACIC AND GREAT FIRST TIME FINISH FROM HUDSON-ODOI AS CHELSEA GO TWO UP.
Just when Norwich were beginning to get some ideas of their own, Hudson-Odoi slips around the back and scores Chelsea's second. Lovely!
Actually, as things stand these two will be top and bottom regardless of other results this weekend
Not lovely for the two Daves. Definitely a good score for you
Chelsea are doing the business, just as the doctor ordered. Two goals inside the first twenty minutes.
Grant Hanley called for a foul on Kai the Guy
My sympathies for Yellows, who is in for a long season with his fellow Canaries
Mine, too - Richard has a season ticket again to the Yellows. They seem to rotate between bottom of the Prem and top of the Championship every other season. Must be a rollercoaster of emotions.
I was just reminded that we have an LOB birthday today. It's RD's birthday today
Definitely so, Being a Canaries fan is definitely and emotional rollercoaster
It seems like Grant Hanley still has a problem from that overextension early on. He might have to come off, even if that is a blow for Norwich.
So it is! I'll have to wish him the best on Facebook.
Nice run down the left by Hudson-Odor after the Canaries coughed up possession, then a Mounted shot went straight to Tim Krul.
Morning Boys
Sorry I am late joining...slept in a little! I knew this game would be like this!
Welcome back David
I second that, Bob. Hope all is well with him and his family.
Thanks , Steve. We're moving in to the house on December 18th.
Morning, Dave - how's your week been, mate?
Steve, Congratulations on the win yesterday vs Aston Vanilla. That calls for a celebration of some vanilla soft serve ice cream
Sorry, Dave. Thank you very much , but still moving in on the 18th even though we take possession on my birthday, the 17th
I will need to text everyone the house. The name of the street is Our Drive, so everyone must know the theme song. Street is replaced with Drive, but otherwise a very familiar early 80s song.
It's about time for another Chelsea goal, don't you think, boys?
Classic Madness song, David - is it "in the middle of our drive?"
No the two Dave's are ready for a Canaries comeback.
Not quite the middle , LOL. It's a sloping street and we're on the lower end of the street, but a classic view of the mountains and the lake. I hope you all will sing the theme song when you come to visit
Sounds lovely - will do!
Cheers and I will text you all the house today
Wahay! Reese James finishes off another training pitch move.
3-0!
GOAL !!!! REESE JAMES PUTS CHELSEA GTHREE UP WITH A SUBLIME CHIP THAT WAS WELL PLACED. IT ALL STARTED WHEN TIM KRUL CLEARED A POOR BACK PASS STRAIGHT TO A CHELSEA PLAYER
Three nil....United don't do this!!
My week has been a busy one.... doing odds and ends
Delia....Let's be havin ya
How can Norwich win two Championships and be rock bottom both times!
It was actually a sliced clearance by Timmy the keeper straight to Kovacic , who played a one two with Jorginho , who then passed to Mount and his superb slide rule pass found Reeese James for that superb finish
Nearly four up as a Mounted shot is inches over.
Agreed, Dave. That weird pattern by the Canaries threw me off when making predictions back in August
I'm wondering that, too. Brentford got in via the playoffs and are holding their own. It's almost as if they get star struck at this level. But long may it continue. I'm banking on them being one club below my beloved Leeds.
A minute of stoppage time
The Teesiders one up at Cardiff and outside the playoffs by the slightest of goal difference
Chelsea three up at the half as top really is thrashing bottom.
HT
Crazy that is raining in LA!!
This match is going right to plan - hoping for more of the same at Elland Road later on.
Love seeing all the fans of the Prem out in LA.... bet NBC didn't think they needed to worry about the weather!!
Second half underway
Teams coming back out now - let's have some more Blues goals, eh boys?
Leeds next up for Canaries
What will the Norwich board do? Is this season done for already? Do they keep their manager? He will probably win the Championship next season! Maybe have him get them promoted and then get rid fo them
Hey - what was that about things getting easier for Norwich with a trip from us next weekend? No way - we need to punish the Canaries.
Back for the second half
I thought the same when he said that about and easier game!
I'm sure Daniel didn't speak with a Farke tongue at the half. He surely didn't mince his words , but his team was in the first half
JHJ continue their tour today.... at the Corn Exchange in Cambridge! Mike's hometown gig! In front of his sisters! So wish I was going too!
It has been a great tour....every place and crowd have been great
I agree to. You need to punish the Canaries at ER next weekend and teach the Canaries and NBC a lesson
Agreed, Dave., That would have been the perfect concert to attend
Chance for the Canaries off n ice one touch passing and then berisha thought but with just Mendy to beat the keeper did well to Mend his goal
Norwich with a chance...well saved
That should have been a corner
Consecutive Canaries corners
Consecutive relegations for Sergeant Josh? Was part of Werder Bremen's first ever relegation from the Bundesliga last season and with the Canaries this season.,
A Dreary statistic from Peter. Sergeant Josh has played 26 league matches without a win. Last time he played in a league win was in March. Now that's what I call a Dreary run
Chillwell get's number four
He's scoring all over the place...for club and country
GOAL!!!! AS CHELSEA GO UP BY A BARBER SHOP QUARTET AS THINGS ARE GETTING REALY CHILLY FOR THE CANARIES
Wahay! Chilly knocks in Chelsea's fourth!
Gareth Southgate is in the stands today - I'm not sure that Grant Hanley is getting into the England squad on this evidence.
I would love to have gone to the Royal Albert Hall gig on Thursday
It all started with Reese James winning a tackle deep in the Chelsea half. He then passed to Jorginho to Kovacic then to Mount and his pass found Chillyh who scored with a finish that would have made any striker proud
LOL, Bo! Grant Hanley is actually Scottish , but I'm sure Steve Clarke is none too impressed with is performance at his former club
The RAH show is this Thursday. I know my cousin and hubby are going to that show as well as Phil Thornalley
I'm sure Mount , Reese James, and Chilly are shoe ins for the next Three Lions squad.
Agreed, Dave. Hometown Cambridge followed by RAH is a brilliant combo.
As I said....Debbie, Lisa, Jon and Laura going to the CE tonight. My friend Bruno is going to the Ipswich show next weekend
Ruddy Norah....Five nil
I think you two would agree that Sergeant Josh is not going to end his run of 26 league matches without a win
GOAL !!!! CHELSEA GO FIVE UP.
Oh dear - that is sad for Norwich. Never mind. 5-0.
Not sure if that's a mounted goal or a Max Aarons OG. It started with a clearance by Mendy then a pass to Kovacic as he went on a long run unchallenged.Hios pass found Mount , who shot from a narrow angle as it deflected off of Aarons and under Tim Krul
And now a red card....the ref didn't need to give a red!
What's the point!
Blimey - now Norwich are down to ten men!
The nightmare goes from bad to worse for the Canaries as they are down to ten men as Ben Gibson is sent off for a second b booking
The Tour is almost over
Cambridge today
10/24 York
10/25 Manchester
10/26 Cardiff
10/28 Royal Albert Hall
10/29 Bath
10/31 Ipswich
11/1 Sheffield
11/2 Blackpool
Bad to worse for the Canaries - now even I'm starting to feel sorry for them. Not really.
Where are they playing in Cambridge - Corn Exchange?
I agree, Dave. I didn't think it was a horrible tackle and as you stated the match is done and dusted
Yes Bob
IS it correct to state that JHJ will clean up on the 29th ?
Oh dear!!
Punmiester
Andrew Omabomdiele, a young irish international on for Sergeant Josh. Not exactly an Irish name
The American striker Josh Sargent hasn't had a sniff all afternoon for Norwich - and now he gets the hook.
The Dahlgren Derby this midweek in the Cup
Double Chelsea change Ziyech on for Hudson-Odor and Ross Barkley on for Kai the Guy
LOL, Dave. Thought you would appreciate that
Nice one, David!
Looking forward to the Dahlgren derby although it may be the reserves in action and /or academy lads in action
Cheers, Bob.
Just a reminder I will be in San Marcos on November 6th and 20th. Will be watching Melanie play the Trumpet for the last time in the marching band although it's the second to last home game. On November 20th is her senior recital followed by an orchestra concert the next day.
I don't know if I knew that David
Congrats
Gibby will be suspended for the match vs Leeds at CR on Halloween. I guess Halloween came early for the Canaries this year
Thanks, Dave. I don't think I had mention that before. Not sure.
I thought that Chelsea would really want to put the hammer down now, but they've slacked off.
A curler from Ziyech from just outside the box is just wide
A tongue N' Cheek shot forces a decent save from Tim Krul
Great save by Krul....thought that was number six
OH! Nearly half a dozen upas Tim Krul does well to turn around a shot from Ross Barkley
Then from the corner a shot from Ziyech from just outside the box is tipped over by Tim Krul
Barkley was through there and only Tim Krul denied him.
I'm sure this score Tuchels Bob's fancy
VAR checking for a possible panlty to Cgelsea off the corner for hand ball in the box. I think it may be given as a penalty
That definitely looks like hand ball. Ref going to the monitor. I think he's going to say penalty
I bet this is going to be a pen... going to look
I was listening to yesterday's match... they thought it was never a pen for the Arsenal
It is a pen
VAR check for a penalty now - I think it will be given.
Gets a yellow too.... again.... no need!
And he does as expected. A booking to go along with that
And it is!
Mount to take....Saved
Mount to take. A poor penalty is saved by Tim Krul. Still 5-0.
Bloody hell... retake....off his line
JUST LET IT GO!!!
What's the point!!
I know it should be retaken but who cares
Mount to take again
Will it be retaken. Not sure why and Tim Krul is livid , and rightly so. He went only a millimeter off his line. That's ridiculous
Now he scores
Agreed 100%, Dave
Kathy and I are off for our 2 mile walk
I'll be back for the BIG one
GOAL!!! Mount scores at the second attempt , straight down the middle as Chelsea is half a dozen up.
Cheers, Dave. Wishing you and Kathy a great walk
Will Chelsea be thirsty enough to go seven up?
Let's hope so - every goal counts!
The Teesiders now two up at Cardiff and now behind the Terriers in the last playoff spot on goals scored
GOAL!!!!THIRSTY CHELSEA GOES SEVN YPO IN STOPPAGE TIME ON A MOUNTED TAP IN
Wahay! 7-0!
Reese James picked up a sloppy pass from Matty Norman Wisdom then Ziyech passed to Tongue N Cheek, who went on a run down the right then passed to Point for a really easy tap in
It's over as Chelsea thrash the Canaries 7-0
Next it's Leeds vs the Wolves and those Wolves need to be taught a footballing lesson.
Now then - where are the LA-based Leeds fans in the crowd?
The Teesiders have won 00-2 at Cardiff. The Teesiders are seventh behind the Terriers on goals scored while Cardiff is two points above the drop zone
Nice one - James Corden having a beer in the wee hours with Alan Shearer.
I didn't realize that the San Fran 49ers are bp[art of the Leeds family. Getting good luck wishes from some 49ers players
Wishing for Leeds to be miner 49ers as they pan for a win vs the Old Gold
We are back in plenty of time!!
Welcome back, Dave. Here for the big match of the day. Howe was the walk?
Thanks... two miles done in less than 28 minutes
Lovely - the Leeds fans are out in force now. Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter series has showed up in his Leeds kit.
Leeds fans in LA
Harry Potter guy as well!
Those wizards aren't that smart are they!! Picked the wrong side of the Pennines!!
The starting line-ups for the crucial one at Elland Road:
Leeds: Meslier, Shackleton, Llorente, Cooper, Dallas, Struijk, Klich, Harrison, Raphinha, James, Rodrigo.
Subs: Klaesson, Forshaw, Roberts, Phillips, Gelhardt, Hjelde, Cresswell, Drameh, Summerville.
Wolves: Jose Sa, Semedo, Coady, Saiss, Kilman, Dendoncker, Moutinho, Ait-Nouri, Traore, Hwang, Jimenez.
Subs: Moulden, Ruddy, Hoever, Neves, Podence, Trincao, Silva, Cundle, Campbell.
Free food and beer!!!
I've just tuned in Goal Rush on the Cock
Goal Rush main match is from Selhurst Park
Glad it isn't the Leeds match
Maybe not.... they were just going around all the grounds
MOT being sung with gusto!
NBCSN...on commercial of course!
That's a decent pace and sounds similar to my walking speed.
Thanks for the reminder. I'm tuning in to Goal Rush
We have been getting faster but still way behind the pace we used to go
Kathy and I were doing five miles in an hour!! 12 min miles!
Rain stopped in LA...can never trust their weather!!
Looks like they are at Selhurst Park
I so wish they kept showing Soccer Saturday
James playing as the center forward today
Wahay! The teams are out for the match and we're nearly ready to get started. Come on, you Whites!
They're at Selhurst Park. The beginning of the Graeme Jones era for the Toon or is he the caretaker?
We are off SP....no commentator so far
They're off from Slehurst Park. I bet Bob is rooting for Palace. The two Daves not concerned about this match
They're off from ER!
COME ON LEEDS! MOT!
Great atmosphere as usual at Elland Road.
Oh - nearly in there from the off. Ball was just a bit too heavy.
Late starting at ER
I was listening to 5Live on our walk and some guy was saying that teams have figured Leeds out this season...I think that is crap! Teams can figure out teams pretty quickly
I just think Leads haven't been playing that well
I think Leeds have been less gung-ho this season....to their detriment
The match on USA is the Toffees vs the Hornets.
COME ON YOU HORNETS!
Furious pace right from the start - I'm loving it. Let's have a go!
Off to Goodison.... the Toffees take a very early lead
goal !!! toffees taKE THE LEAD VS THEW HORNETS . NICE RUN AND PASS DOWN THE LEFT THEN TOM DAVIES SCORES WITH AN EASY TAP IN FROM A YARD OUT
I like that Palace and Newcastle both wearing stripes
There was some suggestion that Raph might play through the middle in the absence of Lord Bamford today, but he's started out wide right as usual.
Joao Moutinho gets an early yellow card and we've got a free kick opportunity.
TOFFEES up to fourth , far behind Citeh on goal difference. That late match will be really important
We're buzzing already - much better than last week.
Raph wins us a corner. Good stuff.
Nice run by Raph as he wins a Leeds corner
Oh - Struijk nearly in there from the corner. And we've got another one to come.
Corner headed out for another and a Wolves player dow as two Wolves players clashed heads
Oh - Rodrigo with a free header. Should have been on target!
I think a Seagulls win is better than a draw because the third place team would have eighteen points with an inferior goal difference
Bloody Hell
Leeds left people wide open
One nil Wolves
Sorry mate
Bugger! A defensive lapse and we're 0-1 down. Hwang strikes again.
BUGGER WOLVES TAKE THE LEAD! POOR CHALLENGE BY JACK HARRISON OFF A SEMEDO RUN THEN PASSED TO RAUL JIMENEZ WHOSE SHOT WAS BLOCKED AND IT BROKE TO HWANG CHUNG , WHO SCORED EASILY FROM A FEW YARDS OUT
