It's Dahlgren Derby Time!
Morning, boys! After a dull Saturday with only three goals on the telly, we need some fireworks. It all starts with the Dahlgren Derby at 9am on Peacock. I have to admit that I don't expect much out of this one. Everything about the form of our two teams points to an away win and I'd be more than delighted with a hard-earned point. At the same time, United are on USA at home to Newcastle. Also Villa play Chelsea.
The late one is the marquee match of the weekend, with the two favored title contenders at the beginning of the season battling it out at Anfield. Liverpool have had a terrible start to the season but a win against Citeh's hot shots would possibly turn it around.
Join me for all the fun.

Morning, guys - I'm settling in with little Macy to enjoy the opening matches this morning. I hope you're having a good weekend.
Good Morning, Bob. Thanks for getting us started. Here to join you for what should be an action packed Sunday.
I just got back from walkies with Trooper during what I think is the peak of the Fall Foliage.
The team news out of Elland Road:
Leeds United: Meslier; Kristensen, Koch, Cooper, Struijk; Roca, Adams; Aaronson, Rodrigo, Harrison; Sinisterra. Subs: Klaesson, Ayling, Firpo, Bamford, Summerville, Llorente, Gelhardt, Greenwood, Klich.
Arsenal: Ramsdale; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomiyasu; Partey, Xhaka, Odegaard; Saka, Jesus, Martinelli. Subs: Turner, Tierney, Nketiah, Holding, Cedric, Vieira, Lokonga, Nelson, Marquinhos
Sounds like a perfect morning - welcome, David!
Morning Boys
Good Morning, Dave. Getting ready to turn on the COCK for the Dahlgren Derby. USA is already on.
I am just tuning in Goal Rush. I will change to the Dahlgren derby if the match is the same as the telly
USA started at 7am! The Fanfest is crazy
It's our first Autumn in WNC , but I think it's the peak of Fall Foliage over here
I was still asleep , but turned on the fan fest around 7:45. My neighbor iOS from Philly, so I will ask here if she's familiar with Dillworth Park
Of course, Goal Rush is just loading!!
PeaCOCK sucks
Thanks for the tip, Dave. I'll change to Goal Rush
Come on, our Uniteds!
I have a friend who is a Philly guy and is going to the Eagles game tonight. He didn't know about the Fest....he's a Toon fan!!
He should have gone!!
He didn't know that the park in front of City Hall was called Dillworth
SAF embraces CR 7 and De Gea rewarded for 500 appearances for United
GoalRush just loaded and it is the United match!
So stupid to do the same match that is on the telly
YIKES! Poor form from your friend, LOL! The steps are from Rocky?
I have wandered off to ER
United attacking the Stretford End in the first half...not preferred
Definitely horrid form from NBC
Arsenal in all black... funny how red and white didn't clash with white in the 72 Cup Final
We are off at OT
They're off from OT and ER.
COME ON MAN UNITED!
United took 35 seconds to get the ball into the opposing half...for two seconds
I wonder if the Gunners are wearing all black because they're in a state of mourning
United have a chance to go over half way...Ronaldo decides to go backwards and out of bounds
I don't care for the Toon kit. Too pepperminty for my taste. Looks almost like mouthwash
United get the ball in the box...why does the ball always fall to Fred!!!
Useless effort!....he's Brazilian!
A delay at ER due to technical difficulties with officiating team
Ref having wardrobe problems at ER
You don't sound very positive about the outcome of this match, LOL!
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
JM doesn't look too amused about the explanation from Olly Twist
No reason for the Newcastle change!! Didn't clash when I was there!
How much stoppage time will there be at ER?
Fred with another chance...blew it
STILL having problems at ER
I hope Bruno starts playing well...he has been rubbish so far this season!
Poor pass by Sancho
CR 7 wins a United corner . it started with a tackle won in the Toon half
The drop off of the pitch has hurt him!
Morning, Dave!
Schaar , not Sonny down after twisting his ankle out of play
This is ridiculous at ER...and the clock is still running!!
Just stop it!!
Play resumes. Welcome back, Bob.
Long disruption at ER
Morning Bob
Not sure if you all agree with me, but I have noticed more commitment from United players than in previous seasons. That's where you start with improving the team in my opinion. It's about the attitude
How much time will be added!!!
Who cares if the ref can't communicate!
It happened for 150 years without it
Chelsea takes the lead at Villa Park
They scored from a Mounted effort from a Mason of a player
Agreed, Dave. They should be able to play with out the technology.
Chelsea already one up at Villa
Mount with the goal
Two postponed matches in four days for the Gunners? Will they abandon this match?
STILL nothing at ER
Postponed matches?
The announcer mentions the 3-1 win at OT last month
United give the ball away in an awful place
Knock it off
Gunners vs Citeh Wednesday to play a make-up match in the EL. Today ?
Sending them off the field!!
It can't be that big of a deal!!!
The match has been suspended . This is becoming really farcical
I guess it's time to switch to Goal Zone
I don't understand
There is a full slate of matches this week. I think it was scheduled
Shot from Sancho high and wide.,
The match has been suspended with the clock at 10 minutes or so. I think it stopped after a minute...they should just start the match at the 1 minute mark and not add NINE minutes to the half
Both teams going forward at OT
The Gunners play PSV in the EL on Thursday, so the match vs Citeh will be rescheduled. The match vs PSV was originally postponed due to the passing of QE2.
The announcer said that 23 seconds had been played. I guess set the time clock at 23 seconds.
Oh, I see what you mean
Thanks for the explanation
Villa missed a sitter. Should have tied it up. Leon of the Old Bailey heads off the top of the bar with a free header from a yard out. Dave would have buried that
Crazy cancelling the TOP TWO CLASH
No problem, mate. Steve must be none too amused,.
Agreed, Dave. Bloody UEFA to blame for that
United's subs bench include a seventeen year old academy player and a nineteen year old Iraqi.
Saints take the lead vs the Hammers
Roman Ross perraud gives the Saints the lead vs Hammers with a long range deflected shot
Davie Moyes will not be pleased that the ref blocked Jarred Bowen when he tried to block the shot. Not a quality weekend form the officiating crews.
Fred fouls fellow Brazi, Fred in the D on a Toon break
Free kick chance for the Toon
Saints out of the drop zone and replaced by Wolves , who won a relegation six pointer yesterday
Trip to take....he could be the first choice in the WC with the James injury
Into the wall....Joelinton....hits the woodwork TWICE
Yikes . After the free kick from Trip was blocked , Joe Linton hits the upright twice in as matter of seconds. Should have given the Toon the lead. Dave would have scored those
Toon go very close again from the corner!
How did Villa not equalize....great double save by Kepa
If Reese James i s fit I would picjNice double save by the Chelsea Kepa to prevent Villa equalizing. One pushed on to the post
If Reese James is fit I would pick him and Trip as the two right backs and put TAA on standby. Even Ben White could play there.
CR 7 offside off what Shaw was a nice through ball. Tried to chip Nick Pope but finger tipped away
Cheers for the finishing comment
No probs, Dave. Gareth should keep you in mind for Qatar
United are so poor at the simple passing
The KING(original) is in the stands
Another great save by Kepa
This delay suits me just fine as I was in the middle of feeding Macy when the match started. Now I can concentrate more on the match.
Back from a trip to the bog. Thankfully no goals were missed.
Welcome back. I think M&M are more efficient than the officiating crew at ER
No attempt on target by United 34 minutes in
Looks like we're just about to get going again at ER.
Definitely more efficient in the poop department. LOL!
Was it Macy that pulled the power plug in Leeds?
Naughty by Chilly on Leon f the Old Bailey. Too hot to handle
LOL, Bob and Dave. Plenty of poop with the officiating crew at ER!
Ref checking the goal line tech
JM is still complaining to the fourth official. I don't know what they can do about it.
Newcastle being more dangerous....Antony gets a shot off..saved
Nice kick save by Nick Pope from Antony off a pass from Sancho.
Nice....they will start at the 1 minute mark...makes sense
I wouldn't be surprised. Teams out again. We're nearly ready to go again.
Hammers nearly tied it. Header from the Package clipped the outside of the post
The match resumes at ER.
Not starting the match over again, but rather starting from the throw in.
We are off again...hopefully we will get bonus coverage of ER on USA...or will it ruin the numpties in Philly
Decent effort from Frank Sinatra
From the 1 minute mark...not from the 10 minute mark when they went off
Oh - Sinesterra with the first real shot in anger at ER. He strides forward and has a go.
Maybe that delay will knock Arsenal off their stride? I hope so!
Dan Burn booked for persistent fouling. That's all he's been doing this match
Sancho has been a real disappointment in a United shirt!!
Fred is always involved...and normally screws it up!
What did Steve have to say before the match? Any good luck wishes?
Well, we've survived five minutes without Arsenal scoring - that's something!
I bet NBC don't go to ER because of the fan fest
AN LOB blogging trio of stoppage time minutes at OT
Agreed, Dave. I think the fan fest will be priority for NBC
Bob, Buffalo area going crazy about the Bills?
Very few goals this weekend
I switched to the match at ER. Better late than never.
Absolutely, Dave - I was teaching the Monday of the home opener with the Titans a few weeks back. The students wanted me to cut the class short - and kick off wasn't until after the class ended. They wanted to tailgate at home!
I love how the best team of the season always wins the title!
Baseball Reg Season
Dodgers 111 wins OUT
Braves 101 wins OUT
Mets 101 wins Out
Padres 89 wins... in the NLCS
Phillies 88 wins...in the NLCS
It's 0-0 at the end of a decent half at OT.
Crazy stuff!
Bet you were meanie prof and said no!!
Big game today for the Bills....revenge for last season's loss to the Chiefs
Not sure about your students's priorities,Bob. LOL!
Giants beat the Packers at White Hart Lane last week!
Agreed, Dave. The playoffs always gives some of the wildcard teams the chance to call themselves champs. The same with MLS and USL.
Saka bursts through and wins a corner. Mark 'em up!
Tame header from Gabby Jesus - he was unmarked!
Yup... the Supports Shield...means nothing but should!
I guess they do get to host the Final...which shouldn't be the case for a final
I called it...they aren't going to ER
We should have got a free kick for the chop by Partey on Sinesterra but the ref played an advantage that wasn't really there.
Even game so far at Elland Road, Leeds doing a good job of getting tight to Arsenal. We seem pumped up.
I think the Supporters Shield winner qualifies for the CONCACAF CL. Is that a consolation of any sort
I'm not surprised, when there are Philly Cheesesteaks to feed to Becky Lowe.
Good effort by Sinatra...side netting
Martinelli nearly in there at the back post. Meslier did well.
OH! Just wide by Sinister Luis off a pass from Rodrigo . Cut in then a the shot hit the saids netting , but Ramsdale had it covered. It must have taken a nick as a corner is given
Must have been deflected...corner to the home side
ooh...Leeds almost score...nice save after a big of a scramble
Sinesterra looks like the danger man for us; he's got that same direct approach as Raphinha had.
Then Jesus clips a shot over with just Meslier to beat
Then down the other end....Jesus misses a great chance
Oh - that corner could have gone anywhere!
Don't think the Leeds effort would have counted...it went off two hands before. the shot
Oh - huge chance for Gabby there - I thought he'd score.
Match starting to get going now. It had a strange beginning given the delay.
I agree with you, Dave - don't think it would have been given.
Oh - Sinesterra with a good early ball in to Rodrigo. Decent effort but deflected out by Gabriel.
Teams coming out at the REAL stadium
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Of course.... this will always be MY MATCH! vs Ncastle at OT
We've made it to the halfway point of the first half without conceding. So far, so good.
Stay onside Ronny!
Decent attack there finally finds itself with Aaronson whose cross shot is neither here nor there.
I think Ronaldo was right....it was taken!!!
That should have counted!
I did some anoraking about the CONCACAF champions League. Four teams qualify from MLS: The Two regular season Conference Champs, the MLS CUP winner, and the U.S. Open Cup winner. One tam qualifies from Canada, which is the Canada Open Cup winner. Usually, that's an MLS team. If one of the conference winners wins the MLS Cup and/or Open Cup then the best Conference runners up qualify. Hope this helps.
VAR should have taken a look at that!
Gabby Jesus wins a free kick in a dangerous area now. Come on, Ilan!
Mesler smelled an easy save from the Odor Guard free kick
Thanks Prof MLS
Odegaard makes Meslier work but he saves relatively easily.
I have no idea why that Ronaldo "goal" wasn't looked at by VAR
The ball was kicked
United go into the box....Trip stopped Ronaldo
was he tripped by Trip
GOAL ! SAKA GIVES THE GUNNERS THE LEAD
Sorry Bob
Congrats Steve
1-0 Gunners
David's definitely done some stellar peer-reviewed research on the MLS.
Did Trip get the ball?
A comedy of errors from Leeds that won't amuse Bob. Crazy long ball back pass from Rodrigo and Saka wont headed challenge with Aaronson then play a one two with Odor Guard then beat Meslier too easily at the near post
I think it was a penalty!!
Never touched the ball. Pushed over at the time of the shot
The rules are so inconsistent....whatever happened to ....there was contact
Bugger! Rodrigo coughs it up in midfield and Arsenal profit.
Saka smashed it in from close range. Meslier may regret that one.
0-1 down.
Sorry, Bob, but congrats, Steve.
Thoughts David/
Shaw...get the ball over!!!
Thanks, Bob. I used Wikipedia. Hope it wasn't too confusing
I'm reviewing that play, Dave. I had my eye off for a second with the goal
Sancho runs into the box...has no idea what to do with the ball... runs into a defender...again...there was contact. It dint' make him fall down like he did but the VAR is looking...no pen
SUCH inconsistency!!
Just recently...a toenail touching a guy and they would call a penalty because there was contact!
I think that is two pens not given!!
Pull of a shirt and Cas goes down...nothing given...I agree with that one
I finally found the play. I don't think it was a Trip trip , but a coming together and Trip out muscling CR 7.
Iff a defender accidentally sneezes oink player in the box is that a penalty? That's contact
Real and Barca just kicked off...love to see more pain on Barca after their CL troubles!
I did actually pick them to win the league
I think the challenges on Ronaldo and Sancho should have both been pens
Anybody ready for another PPP update later today?
That match will affect the PPP standings as it's very tight this year
Hammers tie it up at St. Mary's.
A min ute of stoppage time at ER.
Aaronson did well with the press there and then fed Jack who's curled effort was high over the bar.
Saints back in the drop zone, replacing Wolves
Gunners one up at the half
Chelsea goes two up at Villa Park
Both of Chelsea's goals have been Mounted by Mason
The BBC are doing stuff with a 100 years celebrations
They are asking around for different people that have been on the Beeb
Debbie's friend was on Top of the Pops in the 80s and was next to a host for one of the shots. She didn't know Debs then but got autographs of Johnny Hates Jazz that were on that day...
Today, the BBC came to Deb's friend's house today and Debs was invited too
They should make it on the telly at some time
Looks like JM has plans for Lord Bamford in the second half.
That's half-time. Strange game so far, given the technical delay. We started well but find ourselves at a deficit. Still in this one, though. 0-1.
Declan Rice with the Hammers goal. Ben Rama Said that he assisted with that goal
Hammers tie it up
WOW! That's fantastic. Glad Deb is part of this fantastic occasion.
Chelsea two up
I won't be around for the late match because Jacquelyn will busing the computer to complete an essay for psychology class. I'll be back if she finishes before that match ends.
Debs sent a picture of the autograph that Vicky had
CR 7 none too pleased at being subbed . Rash on in his place , giving United an extra striker
Typical NBC....no scoring games!
Rash on for Ron
