Lakenheath Old Boys

A Tale of Two Uniteds

Morning, chaps! It's a big day for our clubs, after several dormant weeks. We'll wake up for one of the biggest matches of the season - the Manc Derby. Citeh have been on a tear, with Erling Haaland scoring buckets for fun and United starting to turn their season around under Erik Ten Hag's leadership. It should be a tasty amuse bouche for the big one. Leeds haven't played for weeks now, having had two matches postponed and a home match against Villa will be a chance to get our season back on track. Let's hope for big wins for our Uniteds.

Join me for all the fun!

Good Morning, Bob. Thanks for getting us started. Just got back from walkies , so up and ready to go

8:49 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I guess the weak link for Citeh is Ake and Akanji at the center of defense

Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Just sitting own to feed the twins - come on, United!

9:02 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Good Morning, Dave. How are you feeling about the match?

9:02 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

YIKES! The Cock is 45 seconds behind. Bloody ridiculous

9:03 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Dalot in the book inside two minutes

9:03 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

If he dilly Dalot's then Diego will be booked for a late lunge on Jack Grealish

9:03 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Not feeling that confident

I hate the Cock!

9:04 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Struth...how did United survive there!

9:04 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH! Great close range save by De Gea from Haaland then a close range sgho0t from Weekend str Bernie's blocked on the line

9:05 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Good question, Dave. Not sure , then more desperate United defending

9:05 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I miss the days when Jimmy Hill or Trevor Brooking would comment every 15 minutes.

These days we have to listen to one or two numpties rabbiting on when it isn't needed

9:08 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Foden gives City the lead

9:09 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

BUGGER! FODEN GIVES CITEH THE LEAD

9:09 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I can't how they say it was a pretty goal a City goal

It was a nice move and nice finish

9:09 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

United sliced apart by Citeh one touch passing that culminated in a pass from weekend at Bernie's being put away with a first time finish by Foden

9:10 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed, Dave. The fact that United were ball watching contributed to that

9:10 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The way this has started, I fear Rash is going to be bored and be rubbish when he does get the ball

9:11 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

As I feared...Rash gets the ball in the dangerous area and miscontrolls it

9:12 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Le Sox was wrong there... Fergie was at the beginning stage as well Hence, FIRST derby

9:13 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

City are a great team. I don't like the way they play but they are good. I just hate how everyone goes GAGA over them

9:13 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Now Citeh have a free kick. KDB and Phil Foden lined up. Dilly Dalot heads away the free kick from Foden then cleared away

9:13 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Everything they do is delightful, brilliant, pretty.....

9:13 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

When Fergie won his first Man Derby neither team was good. United were in real trouble and Citeh were newly promoted and a yo-yo team

9:14 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Not everything . Pep's antics aren't pretty, LOL!

9:15 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I can't take it much more...EVERYTHING they do is OUT OF THIS WORLD!

9:17 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Free kick to City....dangerous place

9:18 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Now Martinez fouls Jack Grealish just outside the D

9:18 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Just wide... in fact hits the post

9:20 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH! Free kick from Gundogan clips the outside of the post and out for a goal kick

9:20 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

SHUT UP LE SOX!

9:20 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Rash is in one of his pathetic moods....he was player of the month...SHOW IT

9:21 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Rubbish pass from Rash too rash and a decent break comes to an end

9:21 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Foden should have made it two

9:22 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Thankfully Foden shoots high and wide as Weekend at Bernie's got behind his compatriot, Dalot as Citeh have joy down the left yet again

9:23 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Useless by McTom
United survive

Now a pathetic pass by Rashford

9:24 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

United have McTomain poisoning as they give away possession deep in their own box, but good tackle by Martinez on Grealish stops the danger then Malacia booked for p[ulling back Foden from behind

9:25 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I guess the positive side is that we're one;y 1-0 down. One goal and it's tied up

9:26 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

The morning bottle is over and I'm settling in now. Sorry about that early goal, but United are still in this one.

9:27 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

why are the City fans booing... a team passing the ball around

United player does something but it was lucky
A City player does something it is out of this world

9:27 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I am going to keep my comments to a minimum

9:28 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Everything's coming down the left through Grealish. Dalot is a liability now that he's been carded. I'd have him off at the half.

9:31 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I should turn on the NFL game!

Playing at White Hart Lane

9:32 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I know it's frustrating, mate, but keep the faith. Citeh have been more porous at the back this season. They could easily concede.

9:32 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Which NFL game?

9:33 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Not good that Varane stayed down

9:33 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH! Nice kick save by Der Gea from Jack Grealish then Gundogan has a close range shot blocked then De Gea does well to turn around a swerving shot

9:33 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Good Morning, Bob. Glad you finished the morning bottle./ Your presence may change United's performance

9:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Vikings Saints are playing at Spurs today
Fascinating to see the pitch disappear and the football field is underneath.
It is so much lower than a Spurs match

9:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

9:35 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

BUGGER! HAALAND PUTS CITEH TWO UP

9:35 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Sorry, boys - routine header for the big man.

9:35 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Free header for Haaland off the corner and cleared about a foot after it crossed the line

9:35 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Tjnaks, Bob. Not sure if we can come back from this

9:36 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

It was routine....but not according to the media

9:36 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

1st Down Vikings inside the Saints 32 yard line

9:38 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

And another

9:38 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

BUGGER! HAALAND AT THE DOUBLE . PUTS CITEH THREE UP.

9:38 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Haaland again. "It's getting silly," says Peter Drury.

9:39 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Varane won't last

9:39 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It started in the Citeh half . Jack Grealish played KDB wide right and his cross was put away by Haaland. KDB has assisted on both of Haaland's goals

9:40 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Long range shot from Bruno straight to Ederson

9:41 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Gooner was saying yesterday that he's hoping that Haaland gets a knock before they play Arsenal. But I have to admit, as a pure footie fan, I'm just enjoying watching him play. I don't mind if he scores six against us. It doesn't really matter.

9:41 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Kyle walker down for Citeh

9:41 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Varane is off for Lindeloff

9:41 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Lindelof on for Varane

9:41 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed, Bob. For all we know Haaland will get the most top flkgiuth league goals since Clive Allen in the 80s. Could he do it for the saints or teams of that quality?

9:42 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Bob, I agree with Pete Dreary , but instead off silly I would say farcical

9:43 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Nothing else to say!

I'll be back for the Leeds match

9:45 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

BLOODY HELL! PHIL FODENAT TYHE DOUBLE AND CITEH ARE FOUR UP. PETE DREARY Says no con test

9:45 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

How did Foden get so easily behind Malacia and an easy far post tap in off a pass from Haaland

9:46 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

SAF looks pissed.

Blogger manunitedrules said...

A pair of stoppage time minutes

9:47 AM

9:48 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

United fans pouring out of the ground now - poor form.

9:48 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Withe four up at the half. Just like the match at the Bees

9:49 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Well, that was tough to watch. Sorry, boys. I'm off to fix the official LOB brekkies. Back in a tick.

9:49 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Cheers, Bob. Your brekkies sounds better than this match.

10:01 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Not Shaw what bringing on cool hand Luke will accomplish. Not Shaw it's what United needs

10:04 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Second half underway

10:04 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

It is delicious - the United performance, not so much. I wouldn't be surprised if Dave bailed out at this point.

10:05 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

De Gea makes a near post save from Foden after he Shaw picked Luke's pocket

10:05 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

He Shaw came on for Malacia in a lie for like switch

10:06 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Welcome back, Bob. Dave seems to have indicated he's bailing till your United kicks off.

10:07 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It may be poor form on my part , but I'll only be around till halftime of the late match. We're headed to Asheville to watch our neighbor play the piano in a classical music concert.

Kate thinks that Grealish's floppy hairstyle is "absurd." Her comment for the day on the way to the shower.

10:09 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOA!~ MARK ANTONY PULLS ONE BACK FOR UNITED

10:15 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

GOAL! What a strike from the new boy Antony!

One back for United - 4-1!

10:15 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Nice diagonal long ball from Eriksen then a top drawer finish from Antony

10:16 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

LOL,Bob. This shower must have made Kate think of the shower. Grealish has always been know for that 80s type hairstyle that may cost him a job as a studio analyst once he retires

10:17 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Like for like as United have been struck by McTomain poisoning . Casemiro on for Scotty

10:18 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - Haaland nearly in at the near post for his hat-trick.

10:22 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

BUGGER! HAALAND WITH A HAT-TRICK FOR THEIR THIRD PREM L;EAGUE MATCH IN A ROW MAKES IT 5-1`

10:24 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh my - that was good from Citeh. A great team move rounded off by Haaland for his hat-trick. First player to score three consecutive home hat-tricks. Fourteen goals in eight matches now.

10:24 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

VAR checking to see if Sergio Gomez was onside when he made the pass for that finish

10:24 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

YIKES! It stands . Last hat-trick by a Citeh player in the Manc Derby Was Franny Lee in December 1970. Jimmy Rimmer was the Villa keeper that day. Last by a Unite player in the Manc Derby was Kanchelskis in 1994 when Brian Horton was the Citeh manager

10:26 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

He'll have 70 league goals at that rate.

10:26 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I remember both of those players well. Jimmy Rimmer was in goal for Villa when they played Norwich in that notorious match when we were in the middle of a fan disturbance.

10:27 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Fred being prepared to come on now.

10:28 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Fred on for Sancho and will probably line up in the same spot as Sancho.

10:29 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I remember Rimmer as a Villa keeper. Was mainly a reserve keeper at United , but did split playing timer with Stepney for a couple of seasons. Then moved to the Gunners to replace the legendary Bob Wilson. Moved to Villa when they signed Pat Jennings to replace Budgie Burridge.

10:30 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

BLODY HELL! NOW FODEN HAS A HAT-TRICK AS CITEH NOW LEAD 6-1

10:31 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Bloody goal - is that another hat-trick! It is, you know. Foden combining well with Haaland.

10:32 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Cool hand Luke Shaw did play Foden onside off a passs from Haaland . Nice turn and nice finish in the near post upper 90. Goal stands after a VAR check

10:32 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

VAR check to see if it had gone out of play. It stands. Sorry, mate.

10:32 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Quadruple change by Pep

10:33 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Thanks for your support, Bob

10:33 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

This are the final rolls of the dice from Pep, which means he's resting players as this one is done and dusted

10:34 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

In case anyone is interested LaPorte for Gundoigan , Cole Palmer for Jack Grealish, Mahrez for Phil Foden , and Julian Alvarez for KDB

10:35 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

A quadruple substitution for City. Aymeric Laporte, Riyad Mahrez, Cole Palmer and Julian Alvarez replace Foden, De Bruyne, Grealish and Gundogan.

10:35 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Not sure why they're keeping Haaland on at this stage. He's got his hat-trick.

10:36 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I guess Pep wants to run up the score. Currently Citeh have matched the rout at OT in October 2011 , but United played with ten men most of that match

10:39 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Martial gets another back - no celebration.

10:42 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL ! CITEH KARATE CHOPPED. THAT SHAW WA SA NCIE PASS TO FRED, WHOSE NEAR POST SHOT WAS BEATEN AWAY BHY FELLOW BRAZI , EDERSON AND AN EASY TP ION FOR KUNG FU PANDA. Now 6-2

Bruno Lage out at Wolves. That will be welcome news for my colleague Nick who's an avid Wolves fan.

10:45 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Wolves have had enough of Bruno's lagers as he's just been sacked. Will he drown his sorrows in lots of lager?

10:46 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I guess Nick is either not as fan Bruno or lager. If I were a betting man, which I'm not my money would be on Bruno.

10:47 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Edersonm pushes away a long range shot from fellow Brazi, Casemiro

10:48 AM

PENALTY UNITED! Will they pull it back to 6-3. An illegal karate chop from Cancelo

10:48 AM

GOAL ! SUPERB KARATE CHOPPED PENALTY PULLS IT BACK TO 6-3

10:49 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Martial with a brilliant pen. Is the comeback on?

10:49 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

That's that and if truth ver told united were truly second d best despite the late goals . Thrashed 6-3

10:51 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Bruno should take Dirty Diego back to Portugal in a sack. I wanted Wolves to fire him just for inviting that dirty pox on football back into the Prem.

Sorry UWS and MUR. That was uncomfortable to watch. I'll say it again, the sooner Haaland picks up an injury that keeps him out a couple of months, the better. How didn't Norway qualify for Qatar?

10:54 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed, Steve. I didn't see dirty Diego yesterday because we went to a festival , but would love to see him headed back with Bruno.

11:00 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Thanks, Steve . it was tough to watch and the toughest since the 1-6 loss in October 2011. Agreed that Norway should have qualified. They don't just have Haaland and Odor Guard, but lots of players playing ion the top divisions in Europe. They have far better players than Wales .

11:02 AM

Just a reminder I'll only be around for the first half of Leeds vs Villa

Augustinsson with an early booking on his Villa debut in October, not August

11:37 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Ta, boys. Appreciate the support except for twice a season and a couple of cup matches. I loved our performance and the exposure (again) that Richarlison is a snively spoiled baby. He's found his level of prickishness in the benighted half of north London alright.

Bob, sounds like you're describing United's first half performance or perhaps Rich Arlison

11:40 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What was Meslier doing there... gone for a walkabout

11:41 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

YIKES! Meslier was more like sing little Birdie as he lost the flight off the ball off a long Villa free kick. Villa gifted a corner

11:41 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

OOOH, entirely too flappy from Ilian there

11:51 AM

Agreed. Rooney's been whittering on about possession in his post match interviews. What good is it when the ball is in our net repeatedly.

11:52 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

11:53 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

ooh...that was close by Rodrigo

11:53 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

That'd certainly what Roon is trying to do this year. Dead last, and not entertaining at all.

11:54 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH! Just wide from Rodrigo from just outside the box. Best chance of the match

11:54 AM

Yes. I have trouble keeping g up because it changes from season to season and is light years away from traditional kits.

Kristinesen called for what looked a fair challenge on Coutinho. Free header for Olly Watkins off the free kick , but the offside flag raised. VAR checking for a short pull in the box off the free kick. Nothing doing

I HATE the shirt changing!

I think each team should be required to wear their club colors unless it clashes!

I think teams should have a second shirt that doesn't clash with a team either!

The announcers said there is bad blood form a pre-season match between these two. Wonder if Bob knows about that

Atwell needs to sharpen up and get this one back in control.

No need for a third kit!

United should wear red or blue. No white so you clash with red and white with Southampton
