The Prem is Back with a Bang
After what seems like an interminably long break, the Premier League is back this weekend ...and with a real bang! We've got two of the biggest derby matches in English football to enjoy this weekend. It starts with the North London Derby, which has added spice as it's first against third right now. Which side will blink? We'll see in the morning. That's followed by the 10am fixtures, including Liverpool v. Brighton on USA. Finally we've got a relegation battle between West Ham and Wolves on NBC at 12:30.
See you in the morning, chaps!

Subs: Forster, Doherty, Skipp, Sanchez, Gil, Sessegnon, Spencer, Sarr, Bissouma
We are off
Good Morning Dave. Here to join you for the North London Derby as I have a pot of coffee brewing. They're off
Le Sox in the booth...Dixon couldn't handle it
Morning David
How have you been?
Much different weather in London than SW N Carolina
Doing well, Dave . Thank you for asking . How have you been?
OH Lloris turns around a shot from Martinelli off a cross from Saka
The Arsenal have really started on the front foot
Martinelli hits one off the back post with Lloris getting a touch
A rubbish corner to follow
Horrible corner from Martinelli curls out of play
Spurs can't get the ball over the halfway line
My week has been ok, starting to tutor more
Xakha Khan back heels a volley out of plays off a cross from Saka as the cross was behind him
Sound slike a good week. Glad you fgot some tutoring jobs, I think. Sounds like good news.
It's ok...good to have the money coming in....tho I have to wait until the next month to get paid
I will only be around for this match today because Elizabeth and I are going to an Indian Summer Festival with a neighbor . I think it's supposed to do with Indian Summer, not Indians
Would floodlights help get rid of the shadow in these early matches?
Sounds like fun
It's a shame, that you have to wait till next month to get paid , but am sure the extra money really helps.
Yes we're looking forward to it and am hoping the weather cooperates
Are Spurs just riding the storm...or just not going to do anything
Is the weather supposed to be ok
Were you supposed to get some of Ian's wrath before it went more east?
Free kick chance
Two or three Spurs players could get a touch. Richarlson...saved by Ramsdale
OHJ! Free kick from Son well saved from close range by Ramsdale from Rich Arlison
That's correct. It's a gloomy , overcast Lakenheath type day. It was supposed to rain all day, but currently not. Was also supposed to be windy , but none right now. . All due to Ian going further east than expected.
Long range shot from Xakha Khan not too far wide
My two brothers live in Orlando and said they got a lot of rain from Ian , but not any damage
My brother-in-law in Ft Laud got rain and wind before Ian hit land but were fine
GOAL
What a great goal by Partey!!!
Morning, boys - just settling in. Looks like there is a nice cut an thrust to this one so far.
Oh my! What a hit by Partey!
Morning Bob... nice timing!
GOAL ! PARTEY TIME IN THE STREETS OF ALEX AS THE GUNNERS TAKE THE LEAD
We've got the morning feed to do, so I'll be in and out for a bit.
Is Steve having a Partey in the street right now!!
Good morning, Bob. Perfect timing
NO ONE can beat Arsenal....apart from one team!!
Nice run down the right by Saka , who passed back to Ben White, who passed back to Xakha Khan , who scored with a nice , powerful shot from 25 yards out
Nice ones, Dave. Steve Paretying it up and a great team beast the Gunners
Spuds undefeated heading into this match
I think Arsenal play is far more entertaining than City
Should the FA sack Southgate and make Arteta the England manager? He sure gets more out of Saka and Ben white and would start Ramsdale , who is in better form than Pope and the injured Pickford.
Yes definitely nicely more fun to watch than Citeh even though Pep mentored Arteta
Perisic.....rubbish effort
Perisic slices a shot well wide . Played wide left and cut in , and a player of his quality should have done much better
Saka was impressive at Wembley when he came on. He changed the game!@
Spurs have a chance....now they have a penalty!
Stonewall Pen
PENALTY SPUDS ! ANTHONY TAYLOR POINTS TO THE SPOT AS GABRIEL WAS A SLEDGE HAMMER, TRIPPING FELLOW BRAZI, RICHJ ARLISON
Kane to take against his England squad mate
His Wembley pen was brilliant....up he comes....1-1
GOAL! HARRY KANE AN ABEL TO TIE IT UP AS HE PUTS IT DOWN THE MIDDLE
I saw the match and not sure if you agree with me , but Saka needs to be starting. I guess Southgate was experimenting. I would start Ramsdale in goal
Very risky at the back there from Arsenal...I still hate it!
He needs to be starting but not at wingback
I think Pickford will start
Dangerous corner there...punched away
I think Pickford will start too, but Ramsdale would be my choice. I would also start Ben White. Based on this match White's partner in the center of defense, Saliba, should start for France.
Saka has a cross blocked for a Gunners corner
Saka now has a decent corner...whoda thunk it...beat the first man!!
Dangerous corner , not convincingly punched boy Lloris then cleared then the Spuds break then Perisic offside off a poor pass from Rich Arlison
White should play....because of his Leeds training!
I guess the mystery question is who starts at right back for England. TAA or Reese James. Southgate seems to favor the Chelsea player
Great reasoning, Dave
If this Derby finishes all square then Citeh goes top if they win the Manchester Derby tomorrow
I would stat Three First Names against Iran. They will sit back and he can put in some dangerous crosses. I would play James when more defending is needed
Nice run by Gabriel then forces a close range save from Lloris
I missed the Tottenham pen - good call or bad?
If Spurs win, they will got top until City
If Arsenal win, they will stay on top...beaten only by one side....who was that?
Def pen
I'm guess ing that all of England's opponents in the group will sit back. They need to be prepared for that. I think on current form that Iran may be Elngland's toughest opponent. They have more players playing in Europe than in the past
Useless by Richarlson
A great United side defeated the Gunners
Iran beat Uruguay over the break
I remember Scotland only drawin g1-1 against Iran in the '78 WC after losing 3-1 to Peru....then the Archie Gemmel Goal in the 3-2 win v Holland
It's 1-1 at the end of an entertaining half
That half went quick
All square
I remember this matches. That was the first WC I watched. Brilliant Gemmel goal.
Second half in full swing now.
Goal! Lloris bobbles, Jesus nets!
I am back from the Loo as Jesus puts the Arsenal back on top
Not good by Lloris
My first World Cup that I remember was the 74 version in West Germany. The Final was on my 10th birthday
My first FA Cup Final that I remember vividly was the Dahlgren brother's derby when Bob's lot won 1-0 in '72
Jesus with a chance with a header...I think it came too fast for him
He has to score there
League 1 is exciting
Two weeks ago, the top four all played each other and both ended 2-2. Last week, Plymouth went on top as they came from behind to beat Ipswich 2-1. The Town keeper almost scored a last minute equalizer.
Today, Town host Pompey
Red card for Royale....it was a foul and a booking but a red?
Why do refs have to ruin games
It was a YELLOW
It wasn't high. Those happen all the time!
Of course, Martinelli is perfectly fine now
It was a yellow
The red on Royale seemed a bit harsh to me. He did come down on Martinelli's ankle but yellow for me.
3-1 Xman extends the Gunners' lead
My experience is the same as yours, Dave. I do remember hearing people talking about the 1970 World Cup where we were living in Germany, but I don't think I watched any of it. 1974 is really vivid for me, as is the 1972 Cup Final. We had just moved to Feltwell.
Great move and finish by Xhaka sorts this one out. Arsenal definitely a better side this season than in the past few years.
Back from walkies and looks like I missed quite a bit. Glad I recorded the match
Looks like the Gunners will finish he weekend top of the pops
Long range shot from Odor Guard not too far wide. I doin't smell a fourth Gunners goal with that attempt
Like for like as Kieran Tierney on for Zinny.
Young Olly Skipps on for Hoy Berg in a like for like switch . I guess we can Conte on Antonio to concede this important match
I smell some Gunners substitutions . Eddie for Odor Guard and Fabio Viera for Jesus
Spurs to lose
City to lose?
No more undefeated sides left!
Welcome back, mate - how was your walkies? Are you getting any action from Ian?
Are Arsenal title contenders? I have to think that they are now. I still expect Citeh to dominate anyway because of Haaland but they'll be there or there abouts.
Bob, you were watching Downton Abbey on Britbox. Did you watch the whole thing?
Kathy had suggested years ago but we never watched it. We started....and LOVE IT! In fact, we have already gone through all six series and the two films!
Don't know why I didn't watch it when it was on!
Tommy Ya Sue on for Ben White
Thanks, Bob. It was a good walkies.
Lloris does well to turn around a shot from Kieran Tierney
AN LOB blogging trio of stoppage time minutes
Hope fully Citeh lose and yes I think the Gunners will be there or about. I still expect Citeh to win the title, but not sure how far ahead of the Gunners they will be
Singalong time for the Gooners now who are using "Tequila" for their new boy Saliba.
Free kick from Martinelli inches over, bouncing off the top of the net
Bob, did you see my question ?
Final Whistle.... Gunners well on top
United to keep their gap the same? Doubt it
It's over and the Gunners win 3-1 tin the North London Derby and an added bonus is that they hand the Spuds their first league defeat of the season. The Gunners will remain top no matter what the result of the Man Derby tomorrow.
That's it for me. I will be around tomorrow. Great chatting and hope you all enjoy the day.
CHEERS!
Have a great time David
Bob, are you going to be around or are M&M going to keep you busy. The matches aren't that great anyway
Congrats Steve...well deserved
I'm off to get Kathy some coffee. I'll be back to check to see if Bob answered my two questions
I'll be back
No answers from Bob
So, United beat City and they would be two points behind with a game in hand.....back to the late nineties or early noughties with the Red Devils and Gunners fighting it out
What a great thought!
Big game in NYS....Cortland hosting Fredonia!
Come on Red Dragons!!
I will be here watching Palace/Chelsea on the telly, Pool/Bright on Goal Rush and listening to the same match on 5Live. It will be ahead of the Cock but I like to hear all the score updates
Potter's first Prem League game as he moved DOWN the table to join the Blues
Portman Road is buzzing
Over 28,000 there
Ipswich are 2nd and Pompey 3rd.... alphabetically!
Goal Rush still loading....Peacock sucks!
I'm just back from a FaceTime with the Gooner. He's of course cock a hoop about that derby win and Arsenal's form in general.
BRIGHTON HAVE SCORED AT ANFIELD!!!
So he should be
Hope you said I said congrats
So, we've got Graham Potter's Chelsea side away to Palace on USA now. Another London derby. Here's the team news:
Crystal Palace: Guaita, Clyne, Ward, Guehi, Mitchell, Eze, Doucoure, Olise, Ayew, Edouard, Zaha.
Subs: Milivojevic, Tomkins, Mateta, Schlupp, Hughes, Johnstone, Ebiowei, Riedewald, Gordon.
Chelsea: Arrizabalaga, Fofana, Thiago Silva, Chilwell, James, Mount, Jorginho, Kovacic, Sterling, Aubameyang, Havertz.
Subs: Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Bettinelli, Chalobah, Broja, Ziyech, Gallagher, Koulibaly, Azpilicueta.
Referee: Chris Kavanagh (Lancashire)
You're ignoring my questions!
Goal Rush STiLL not working!
GOAL...Palace take the lead!!
Love it that Chelsea and Liverpool are both behind!!
Great cross!
Fulham are down to ten men!
Brighton almost in again!
Wellbeck should have double the Seagulls lead
Palace almost scores again too!!
Wilson gives the Toon the lead vs 10-man Fulham
TWO NIL SEAGULLS!!!
I guess losing to Brighton at Old Trafford wasn't that bad!!
The ref at Brentford went to the screen and kept his original decision!!
Sterling misses a poke from close range....he is so overrated!
Lovely - I'm just back from an emergency diaper change and see that Palace are 1-0 up.
Palace should have done better there!
Who went off for Fulham? I'm betting bad boy Mitrovic.
And Liverpool 2 down
Our loan boy Tyler Roberts has added a second for QPR.
No it was Chalobah
ANSWER MY DOWNTON QUESTION!
Ipswich take the lead vs Portsmouth
ExPompey scores it
Wow - what's happening at Anfield?
Goal Rush FINALLY working
Salah goes very close
Blocked
Salah looked offside twice
They get a corner tho....easily caught by the keeper
Sorry, mate. Yes, we got through all six seasons and the first film on Britbox. Haven't seen the second one yet.
It was our Sunday evening routine for many moons. Now we're on to "Call the Midwife."
Who was your favorite character? Mine as Carson the butler. Such a complex character and Jim Carter is the best.
Cynical there from Thiago. Could have been red. VAR checking on it.
Liverpool get the ball in the net but the flag is up.... Will it count? 5Live thinks it will count
It counts
They say it is a fact...NO IT ISN'T.... when was the ball kicked!
Newcastle two up at Bob and Kate's
Palace want Silva to get a red for a handball..not given
I liked Mrs Carson but I think my favorite is Mosely... I liked Anna too!
We had to buy the first movie on Amazon Prime and saw the second on Peacock for free.
Loved the show
Pompey has tied it up at Portman Road
Bobby Chompers with that Liverpool goal.
Moseley is a brilliant character, too, but he was such a sad sack for the first few seasons. Love it that he found his calling in the classroom in the end.
Bugger BUM has equalized for Chelsea
They should be down to ten men!!
PEA not BUM
GOAL! Nice shot on the turn by the Arsenal old boy Aubama.
1-1!
Agreed!
Did you only see it on Britbox or did you watch it before?
I have no idea why we never watched it!!
When we finished Season Six, the first movie wasn't available on Britbox
We read the both movies were available on Peacock but the first movie wasn't there. So we had to rent it on Prime Video. The second movie was free on Peacock but supposed to leave this month
Moseley opens a new window in the second movie
We had watched the occasional episode with Steve and Melanie on PBS on trips, but had never sat down and watched the whole thing.
When it first came on, I thought, "Well, I'm not sure I'm interested in another Upstairs, Downstairs kind of thing, but it is brilliant.
Cline is taken off on a stretcher
Felt exactly the same as you
Kath and I are upset we don't have it to watch any more
I'm off to the shower ahead of half time.
Ref has called a back pass against Palace....indirect free kick inside the box
6 added minutes at Selhurst because of the injury
Such a shame that Chelsea have equalized...they should be down to ten men!!
HT at SP
Toon are 3 up at Bob and Kate's
I am back after some delicious French Toast as they kick off at Selhurst
There have already been two goals at the Dell
Saints took the lead but the Toffees equalized sharpish
Everton have scored again!!
Desmond at Anfield
Firmino scores again
bugger
Liverpool bound to score again....lots of pressure
Newcastle four up at Bob and Kate's
I'm back from a refreshing shower. Still 1-1 at Selhurst Park on the box.
Crikey - are the Toon really that good?
More rubbishness by Sterling....I don't know why people think he is world class
They have been stinking it up recently. They drew vs City being 3-1 up. Lost at Anfield with that late late goal
I think they had only won one game all season...and that was their first
Liverpool have taken the lead...what a bummer
Liverpool have come back to lead....let's hope Chelsea don't!
Welbeck almost in for the Gulls saved by Allison
Another useless pass by Sterling!! SHOOT or pass to a TEAMMATE!
Zaha with an effort saved
Ipswich back on top of Pompey
Desmond at Portmand Road
Ipswich score again
3-2
Which I was there!!
Troussard scores a hat-trick at Anfield!
3-3
WISH I was there
I'm okay with a draw in this one.
Brighton still trying to score...good for them
I want a home win at SP and an away win at Anfield of course!
Fulham get a consolation goal at Bob's place
BUGGER
Chelsea score a winner and it was Gallagher with the goal
Big player for Eagles last season and now scores against them
All over at Anfield
Ends 3-3
Wrexham come from 1-0 down and score in the 85th and ELEVEN minutes later!
They will go top
Ends 0-0 between Bournemouth and Brentford
Toon win 4-1
Chelsea win at Palace
