Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Qatar 2022 Preview - Group H

Rounding off this series of group previews for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, here are my thoughts on Group H:

Prospects: Group H is one of the most evenly balanced groups in the tournament, with a chance for all four teams to progress. Portugal and Uruguay would seem to have the richest pedigrees, having won big tournaments in the past; however, that counts for little when it comes to the heat of a tournament. Both sides have plenty of quality and experience but there is a worry for both of them that their best days are beyond them. If there is going to be an upset in the form, it's likely to come from South Korea, who are a well-organized side under manager Paulo Bento with a world class striker in Tottenham's Son Heung-min. Son's fractured eye socket in a Champions League match may be one of the most pressing narratives in the group. Ghana's Black Stars are possibly the least likely to emerge from this group, having faced a loss of form with only two wins in the last 12 matches. However, as they showed in their playoff over a strong Nigerian side, they carry some danger with a side full of Premier League veterans.

One to Watch: Real Madrid's Uruguayan starlet Federico Valverde has been lighting up La Liga all season and could be one of the shining lights of this tournament.

Most Likely to see Red: If Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez is a bit peckish, he might well go in for a nibble again.

Most Likely to Attempt a "Panenka:" If Portuguese schemer Bruno Fernandez can pry the ball out of Cristiano Ronaldo's hands, he's game for one.

Worst Haircut in the Group: Portuguese midfielder Ruben Neves has a penchant for a shaggy man bun.

Key Match: December 2 - Uruguay v. South Korea (10am EST)

Blue Devil's Crystal Ball Says: It'll all come down to the last round of matches, as it should.
