Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

World Cup Trivia Time

We haven't had one of these famous LOB features for a while, but I heard a great question on the 606 podcast that I thought I might run by you:

"There are six former Premier League players who have managed teams at World Cups. How many can you name?"

Good luck!

I have three for starters. Didier Deschamps, Glenn Hoddle, and Gareth Southgate.

Spot on with Deschamps, Hoddle and Southgate.

Rob Page and Scaloni weren't on the list. I'll give you a hint. The other three are former rather than current World Cup managers.

I think Jurgen Klinnsmann is one

Yes, indeed, Klinnsmann managed the US and German squads and played for Spurs.

That's four you've got. The other two are extremely difficult.

I just thought of Rigobert Song. He played in a lot of world cups for Cameroon. Did he mange them for one as well?

Thanks for playing along with this one, David. You were able to get five of the six: Southgate, Hoddle, Deschamps, Klinsmann and Hierro.

The one that you were missing was Aliou Cisse, who played for Pompey in the Premier League between 2004-2006 and is current Senegal boss.
