Hey ya Dave! Well, my Leeds boys have already earned a well-deserved away win against Sheffield Wednesday thanks to a David Healey. Now, I'm settling in to watch Chelski hopefully struggle with Blackburn. Anyone else out there watching the match?

Good morning.
Are we staying on this one?
We must have posted it at exactly the same time.
Well done with your lot. Another penalty though!!! Still no goals.
I am listening Villa on Five Live. I have no idea why it isn't blacked out.
Villa are two up and Newcastle's new striker has been stretchered off and United had already used all their subs.

I just looked at the timing of our postings.
There is about a 25 minute gap!! It wasn't there when I went to the page!

Blogger United We Stand said...

Chelsea playing one player up front. That it useless from the Champs

11:00 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

It looks to be the first time to see the Chelski new boys in all their glory, including Boulahrouz, the guy who kicked lumps out of Cristiano Ronaldo during the WC (I like him already!), the central midfield pairing of Lamps and Bollock, and Salamon Kalou alongside Sheva.

The Blackburn side is a whole lot less flash, although it will be interesting to check the form of Bennie McCarthy, who lit it up for Ajax all those years ago. He scored again in midweek; can he undo Chelski? Let's hope so.

11:00 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That guy is wearing a hopeless number for a left back.
9 !!!!

11:07 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Have you noticed how all the Premiership games start with a grand procession out of the tunnel these days? They come out and line up as if there will be anthems played. I half expect the bloody Duchess of Kent to come out and greet the sides!

11:08 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Here we go! Another late kickoff - 11:03.

11:09 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I'm with you, Dave. I hate the squad number system. Back in the day, you knew exactly where #2, #6 or #9 was playing. The only time I've seen #s 1-9 used properly recently was by Brazil in the World Cup this summer, and that only lasted for about two matches.

11:10 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I'm afraid we're aging ourselves with these complaints, Dave. No doubt in the future, we'll be saying, "What on earth is with this new rectangular ball - I remember when a round ball was just fine!"

11:13 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Wasn't Lucas Neill sent off last week? Whatever happened to suspensions for red cards?

11:14 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I have gotten used to weird numbers. Keane was 16, Scholes 18. I don't see why they weren't given normal numbers. They were always starting. The thing that bugs me is #9 being a full back. It shouldn't be allowed. Jose even made the joke when they introduced the player and his shirt. He said, "here is my new center forward"
Certain numbers should be for certain positions.
The NFL does it.

11:15 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

The stands behind the goal are alarmingly empty. The whole top section has no one in it! What's going on in Blackburn today? It's the champions visiting, you tossers!

11:15 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

So, you're okay with Bollock being #13? I don't know - I liked the idea of #10 being your playmaker.

11:17 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Yes he was but it was two yellows. I think that holds only an one match ban instead of a straight red that is three.
He must have sat out during midweek. The Andy Todd red card was reversed.

11:17 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh dear, that was an atrocious challenge by Robbie Savage - welcome to the Premiership Mr. Bollock. He'll be lucky if he gets through the 90 minutes at this rate.

11:18 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I agree with crowds. There are a lot of games that have empty sections. The Championship games are stunning to see.

11:18 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I've just noticed that Chelski are playing both Essien and Makelele together. Just how much bloody midfield cover do they need? It's only Blackburn. The problem is that by doing that they sacrifice the width that an SWP or Robben would bring.

11:21 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The skysports live score centre shows the live league table so as of right now THE ARSE are in the bottom THREE

11:21 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Blackburn look pretty useless.

11:22 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

They're just too expensive. I don't know what it costs to get into Leeds anymore, but I know the Prem seats are 50 pounds or more. Who can afford to take their kids to games anymore the way that we used to go with three or four of us to Highbury or Portman Road?

11:22 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

It's the worst start to the season that Arsenal have ever had under Wenger.

11:23 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I agree, Blackburn are a really poor side. I don't know how they stay up year after year. They're one of those sides that just battles and picks up points by being organized and having a brilliant keeper. Last year they got a lot of goals out of Bellamy at a crucial time that pushed them into the European spot. What a useless representative in the UEFA Cup!

11:26 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Chelsea don't look too good either

11:26 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Where is everybody else on this blog? We are the only ones keeping it going. Where is your bro?

11:27 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

OHHHH, that was close!!!

11:29 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I dunno. I know that Gooner has a logistical issue with the FSC upstairs in the living room and the family computer downstairs in the basement den, but I was hoping that Trev and Blubber might join us for a game or two. Busy, I suppose.

You know what, I enjoy it nonetheless. Glad to be here with you, mate.

11:31 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Bloody hell, Bently and Savage have had some pathetic shots. How did Bently score a hat-trick against my lot last season?

11:31 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Absolutely, I have a ball and i can always count on you being there.

11:32 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I've always liked Bently. He was one of the only decent players for the u-21s recently against Moldova.

11:33 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That was nasty.
He is rolling around like he was dead!!! Now he is up and argueing

11:34 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Another nasty challenge from Savage. It's about time he went into the book. I don't know what Robbie Elliott is on about. That was horrible. He should start every match with a yellow and should off anytime he makes contact with another player. I hate him!

11:34 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Nice ball in from Bently. Someone should've been on the end of it. Bennie McCarthy's never fancied it in the air, though. He needs it played into space. Still, Chelski haven't hada sniff yet, have they? Apart from that rubbish effort from Sheva a moment ago.

11:37 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

can you believe that he has only been sent off once in club football. That was for two bookable offenses last season. The second yellow was for a deliberate hand ball in the center circle. How has he possibly stayed on the pitch.
I HAVE ALWAYS HATED HIM!!

11:37 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Isn't Sheva married to an American model? If that's the case, how come he can't speak English?

11:38 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What kind of cross was that!!!!!

11:39 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

The Chelski midfield just doesn't look right. Elliott is right for once - it's all too narrow. There's no way this these are the future champions. No way.

11:39 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What a pleasant thought

11:40 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I've often wondered about Sheva's marriage. It could be a trophy marriage where they don't have much to do with each other and travel quite a bit.

Also, it could be that she's fluent in Italian - a lot of models do biz in Milan after all - and that they conversed in Italian while there. But apparently, moving to an English speaking country was part of the Chelski equation for them.

11:41 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Looks like Rio is going to be out for a month.
So, what should England do this week.
How about playing on three defenders? Have Hargreaves hold back and have both Lamps and Stevie G bomb forward from the middle. It is Andorra

11:42 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Don't you think that you lot, Liverpool, Arsenal, even Villa! have been more fluid in their play than Chelski so far. Even in their 3-0 win against Citeh they just didn't look like the side they were two years ago with Duff and Robben ripping down the wings.

11:42 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I could see the three at the back for England - what, Terry, Young and Bridge? I don't think Hargreaves is in the squad for some reason, right? So it must be Carrick in the holding role. I still like the idea of Gerrard playing wide right instead of Lennon who can't cross the ball to save his life. Wouldn't mind seeing three real strikers up front - as I was saying yesterday, Johnson widish left and Bent and Crouch in the middle. They're all scoring, so that's a plus for us.

11:46 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Sorry, you're right Hargreaves is in the squad - I've just checked. So it's him in the holding role for sure.

11:47 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Well, this is good so far for you. You'd be happy with a draw here wouldn't you?

11:50 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Now, Terry's got a knock. Where does that leave the England backline? We'll have Titus Bramble and Zat Knight in there at this rate?

11:55 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I had to pop off to the loo.
I tried to post something a few minutes ago and it wouldn't let me.
I agree with you about Chelsea.
If United get maximum points from their next two games I will be very confident about our season. We have Spurs followed by the Arse visiting Old Trafford.
Half time. So far, so good.

11:56 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I just went back to see what I missed near the end of the first half. Hughes and Jose had some words. They had a run in last year as well

11:58 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

They are showing the goals from Villa Park. They didn't show the United goals last week when they were the early game!!!

12:00 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I just saw that Ferdinand hasn't broken his toe. It is only bruised. He is still in the squad although still doubtful.
Good news for United

12:03 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

At least Drogba can't be late coming on this time from half time.
Did you see that at all from the Boro game?

12:09 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Welcome Sir Trev.
Did you see how "my" Red Bull did?
Six goals in the second half

Your lot were unlucky yesterday

12:10 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Bloody hell, I was in the shower and I missed the penalty! Ah well, I'll catch the replay.

What about that penalty against the Arse yesterday? I would've given an indirect free kick inside the box for obstruction because I didn't think Trevor Sinclair had it under control when he was fouled by Hoyte.

12:17 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

He scored a hat-trick against United last season. He was an Arsenal youngster.
Bugger... Chelsea are going to win this

12:17 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Good to have you on board, Trev. So what was the D.C. United score then?

12:17 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I wouldn't be so sure, Dave. They've looked wobbly at the back and if Terry's carrying a knock you never no what'll happen. Blackburn look capable of scrapping out a goal here. The crowd sounds great.

Ohhh, that was nearly it - good save from Cech.

12:19 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What a save by Cech!!!
Your an Arsenal fan aren't you Bob????
Yesterday was a penalty all the way. He was clipped and brought down you plonker!!!!!

12:20 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Same again as Wednesday. Two goals in the last ten minutes for the home team

12:21 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Not an Arsenal fan, Dave. And actually, the Gooner accepted it as a pen. I thought that the ball rocketed off Sinclair's shin well beyond his control, Hoyte went diving in and brought him down but there was no way that Sinclair would've caught the ball if Hoyte had backed out of the challenge. Textbook obstruction.

Robert "CAF" Dahlgren

12:25 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Crikey, 2-5 at home! No wonder we haven't heard form the Gooner/Screaming Eagle this morning. Not a good day for him yesterday.

The problem I've got with MLS, though, is that eight sides go into the playoffs, so it really doesn't matter what happens in August. Imagine if the top six or eight in the Prem went into a playoff in May. Would anyone bother watching Chelski-Blackburn in August?

12:26 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

HOW CAN CORNERS NOT BEAT THE FIRST MAN!! THEY ARE PROFESSIONALS!!!!

12:27 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I told you earlier, Spurs and Reading are my Prem teams this season. I've got no love for the big four moneygrubbers.

Blogger United We Stand said...

Am I bugging you yet?

12:28 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Nice shot from Lucas Neill there. Reminds me of my efforts from distance.

12:29 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Finally, Makelele in the book

12:29 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Nah, Dave. I'm used to your needling. I don't take the bait like the Gooner.

There's your yellow card for Makelele.

12:30 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Has Sheva touched the ball in the second half.
He has not set the Prem on fire

12:30 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Do I annoy the gooner?
How lovely

12:31 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Blackburn's crosses have been hopeless

12:31 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Still waiting for you two to come to my defense and say something like, "No way, you scored some crackers from distance in your day."

Anyone...anyone....

12:31 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Ummmm, could you remind of us on ONE

12:32 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Wait a minute, I seem to remember a cracker you had once. It may have been for Forest.

12:33 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oooh, Paul Gallagher - the secret ingredient for Blackburn....not.

12:33 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That was classic by Sheva. Trips over a blade of grass!!!

12:34 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Okay, there was one. Total fluke. It was in a practice scrimmage Senior year. I cut in from a throw on the right and launched it. Just caught it right for once and it flew straight in. I was so shocked that in my celebration, I jumped and fell over! Remember that one?

12:35 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

no

12:36 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Classic celebration though

12:36 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I HATE THE SHIRT PULLING

12:37 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Was this dream... i mean goal... just during practice or against one the English teams?

12:38 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

You're right - Sheva has been rubbish today. Did you see him tread on the ball there?

12:39 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

It was during a practice. I don't think I ever scored during my high school career for JV or Varsity. The closest I came was a header from a corner - eyes closed of course - that went off the bar at London Central for the JVs. If I'd had my eyes open, I would've been able to just simply nod it back in. Oh well.

12:40 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Who was in goal for shot? Me?

12:41 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Less than fifteen minutes for Blackburn to pull this one out of the fire.

Where's Sir Trev gone? I was just starting to enjoy the silky midfield blogging skills and he's buggered off again!

12:42 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Ah there you are, Trev!

Thanks for the confidence in my scoring ability, mate. I wasn't ever paid for sticking the goals in. That was our erstwhile ManYoo supporter. Joint top scorer Senior year, wasn't it Dave?

12:44 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Bugger, Drogba's killed the game! Good strength there in shrugging off the defender.

12:45 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Bugger!!! He fought off the challenge and didn't fall down. It just makes his diving even worse. He can stay up

12:45 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Bentley's in the U-21s, but I agree he should get a look-in pretty soon, especially with Becks out of the picture and SWP not playing regularly.

12:46 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Sheva's coming off. He hasn't really earned his corn today. SWP on - nice of Jose to give the boy eight minutes of a nothing game.

12:47 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Joint Top Scorer senior year!!!! Are you nuts? As I remember, I scored more than half the total number of goals that season. Remember Stan having Man of the Match posted as you came in the main doors of the school.
I NEVER GOT ONE!!!! I scored in every game(except when I missed a pen) When we beat Alcombury 5-4 for the championship, I scored four and got an assist.
Man of the Match: Everyone!!!!!
How good was the defense that day? Kevin Collins scored everytime he touched the ball!!!

12:50 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Cheerio, Trev. Have fun with the kids today. Good to hear you've dealt with the treacherous wall.

I've got a cracker of a trivia question for tomorrow, so check back.

12:52 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I meant joint top scorer for the league, you numpty! As I remember our useless defense allowed that Tehrani kid from London Central to score a hattrick on the last day of the season, which tied up with your total.

Sorry, mate. As I remember, our hearts weren't in it that day. We'd already won the championship at Alconbury the week before, had the Prom the night before, one or two of us were seriously hungover and Tehrani elbowed me in the face for his first. Not Joel or my finest hour though, eh?

12:54 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What was your excuse for the Alcombury game?

12:56 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

This one's over, I'm afraid. United three points up on Chelski, though. You have to be happy about that. Are you afraid of Villa, though? They're off to a tremendous start under Martin O'Neill.

12:56 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

No excuses, we were rubbish that day too. I remember that Kevin Collins skinned me on the left hand side and I had a chance to hack him before he reached the area and I just bottled it. I'd have his leg off if I had it to do over again.

12:57 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I did lay on one of your goals that day, though, didn't I? And Stef laid on another.

12:58 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Villa will improve but will lose games they shouldn't.
I will take the three point gap.
As i said, United have Spurs and Arsenal at home and then Reading away for their next three games.
Chelsea have Charlton and Liverpool at home and Fulham away.
That's it,
BUGGER.
I am waiting for your Alconbury excuse

12:59 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Ok, you have answered my questions.

See you next week for England. It probably won't be on tv.
