The PSV-Liverpool match is on ESPN2 starting at 2:30, with the kickoff at 2:45 EST. Enjoy!
Five Live has got live commentary (so far) of the Chelsea vs. Werder Bremen match. They're saying that Stamford Bridge is nearly a quarter empty - what a shocker!
Bugger! Five Live has just popped off.
Chelski are starting with Makelele, Essien, Lampard and Bollock in midfield. Sounds pretty congested to me.
Cashley, making his starting debut for Chelski has already made strides up the wing but so far Chelski haven't been able to link up well with the forwards.
Liverpool keeper Reina has had a nervy start after being a complete bollix in the Merseyside derby at the weekend.
It sounds like end to end stuff at Stamford Bridge, with Drogba and Klose going close for their respective sides.
Crikey, favorites Barcelona are already 1-0 up against Levski Sofia.
Top of the Coke table Cardiff are in the lead again, this time away from home to Plymouth.
Southend 1-0 up at home to Norwich.
I should mention that Stevie G. has been dropped after having a less than stellar match against Everton on Saturday.
Bollock has gone all floppy in the Werder penalty area only to see the ref whistle for a free kick to the Germans - no yellow card, though. Shame.
Southhampton now one-up at Crystal Palace.
Barnsley now one-up at Burnley in the Coke.
Chelski have taken the lead against Bremen courtesy of a low shot from Essien after some scrappy defending by the Germans.
Sounds like the Liverpool pairing of Bellamy and Kuyt are having little joy up front today. I reckon they're too similar. Go for the little and large, I say. How can you not play Crouchie on his recent form?
Olympiakos one-up at home to Valencia.
Cardiff are now 2-0 up! What on earth is Sam Hammam feeding those lads?
Valencia have equalized against Olympiakos.
Barnsley now 2-0 up at Burnley.
Norwich have equalized against Southend.
Derby now 1-0 up away to the dreaded Wolves.
Valencia have now taken the lead in Greece.
Barca has extended their lead to 2-0 against Levski.
Good old Norwich are now 2-1 up at Southend. Let's be having you!
Second place Birmingham now 1-0 away to QPR.
Wednesday and Stoke sharing the spoils at 1 each.
Luton 1 Colchester 1
Half-time score PSV - Liverpool 0-0; I suspect after the weekend's drubbing that they'll feel reasonably good about that result so far. Perhaps Kuyt can nick a goal in the second half.
I'm going to bugger off to class to lecture on Rousseau's Emile. Wish me luck!
I'll be checking in on the blog later. Cheers.
So a comfortable win for Chelski, a useful away draw for 'Pool but a show-off 5-0 for Barca and 4-0 for Bayern, who look to be two of the strongest early runners in the competition.
On the Coke side, a ding-dong match ended up 3-3 between Plymouth and Cardiff, which means that Brum sit on top of the table tonight. Leeds play tomorrow with a chance to at least get back to mid-table with a win.
