Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Bugger,
Chelsea score a late first half goal.
Bloody Lampard. Why couldn't he have done that for England

8:52 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Chelsea are two up.
I just saw that The Blades missed an early penalty.
BUGGER AGAIN

Looking forward to the ten o'clock game.
The Pool v The Villa.
Of course, I wish it were the game at the Reebok but I will be listening to that on manutd.com

Good to have you. Bit too cold for footie already in upstate New York? 75 degrees here this morning.

For once I'm rooting for Chelski. Did you know that I hate the Blades? Thought so.

9:49 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Shut up with 75 degree garbage!!!!
Not too cold, the school doesn't want the Rec soccer ruining their field because of the rain.
Do your lot play today? Who?

9:56 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yeah, it's that relegation dogfight - Leeds vs. Southend - second time in a week. I hope we can do a better job with them this time. Another loss would just be too depressing. Might just have to feed myself to the gators.

10:00 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I will be rooting for Southend.
Right?

10:00 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

So Chelsea have extended their lead at the top by defeating Sheffield United 2-0. Another nail in the Blades coffin.

That puts the pressure on United against Bolton. What do you reckon, Dave?

10:01 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Here's the United line-up for Bolton:

1. Edwin Van der Sar

2. Gary Neville

5. Rio Ferdinand

15. Nemanja Vidic

3. Patrice Evra

7. Cristiano Ronaldo

16. Michael Carrick

18. Paul Scholes

11. Ryan Giggs

9. Louis Saha

8. Wayne Rooney

No Smithy leading the line? No Ritchie Jones? Hmmmmm....

10:04 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

SHUT IT!!!!!!!

10:06 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yes, I want you rooting for the Shrimpers. Don't need your Lancashire charity, mate. We Yorkshiremen stand on our own two feet, while wearing rosettes and eating pies to the tune of Dvorak.

10:06 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Who do you like for this match - Pool or Villa? I reckon a draw.

10:08 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Same again as Tuesday.
I can't stand Wise so I will root against them with somep oomph

10:09 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

definitely rooting for Villa.
Let's hope that Pool struggle.
What do you think about Rafa changing his line up for the 99th time in a row.
Is it a big deal? I don't think that the fact that he is changing a player here or there but it is when he drops a player after having a blinder.

10:10 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I'm searching in vain for the presence of Jeremie Aliadiere in the Arsenal line-up for Everton today. Apparently he's too tuckered out after his exertions on Tuesday against WBA. Only one player survives from that win - Johan Djourou.

10:12 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Colchester already one-up against Soton.

10:13 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United are dominating.
Still no goals

10:14 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Best name in the Premiership - Watford's Danny Shittu.

10:15 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Well named with the way he and his team plays

10:16 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United are all over them.
Pool should have scored there

10:16 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Headed off the line from Saha.
BUGGER

10:17 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I agree - sounds like your lot are all over Bolton. I love it - hate Bolton.

Kuyt should've stuck that one in. I know a certain striker of an Italian extraction who would have roofed it in his day, eh?

10:17 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United should be three up
This is not a good sign

10:17 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

ONE UP
ROONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10:18 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Finally - good old Roon! I'd love to see him recapture his form.

Leicester one up at QPR - that helps us.

10:19 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Good to see Crouchie starting. Love him.

10:20 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Hearts are one up against Dunfermiline.
Lucky for them.
Did you hear that the owner was going to sell them if they lost.

10:21 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Arsenal are losing and Pompey are winning

10:22 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Everton have taken the lead at Arsenal. Well, well, well.

10:22 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Life is good so far

10:22 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Come on Freddy Eastwood. Get a goal for the Southenders

Is that what you want?

10:23 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

ROONEY AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

10:24 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

The boy's on fire! Well, we did ask for it last weekend, didn't we?

Yes, keep up the support for the Shrimpers, Dave.

10:26 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I don't think VanDS has touch the ball.
It has been allllllll United.
Bolton are THIRD!!!

10:27 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Nick and Steven were talking about how lucky Bolton have been to date, with a lot of jammy last minute goals and an easy schedule. They really should be mid-table. They're rubbish.

10:29 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Good to see Eddie Lewis back in the line-up for us today. He'd fallen out of favor with Blackwell, but Wisey obviously rates him.

10:30 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Norwich are losing

10:30 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

He hasn't been playing?

10:31 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

free kick for Bolton.
Fingers crossed. They are always dangerous with these.
Comes to nothing

10:32 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

No, he's been out of the team for the better part of a month. He did play on Wednesday, though. He's got to be a bit depressed. You've got half a dozen Americans playing in the Premiership. He must have fancied his chances when we made the playoffs last year.

Stoke now one up on Norwich.

10:32 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Everton's scorer was Cahill again. Is there a more dangerous midfielder?

10:33 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yeah, he's kind of the Kevin Nolan of this season. You'd have to have an on-form Frank Lampard up there on that list.

Most dangerous fullback - Jon Arne Riise?

10:36 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Saha hits the post

10:38 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Goal at Anfield. Still waiting for the TV to catch up

10:40 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

See that Leeds agree a settlement with Chelski for those youngsters.
Did they let the Blues off the hook

10:41 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

1-0 Liverpool - it's that boy Kuyt. What a lovely volley!

10:42 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Good goal for Kuyt
Wish it wasn't so delayed

10:43 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yes, we always let the big boys off the hook. We did also pick up Graham Stack from Reading this week. In fact, I think he might be in goal for us. Certainly Neil Sullivan has been letting bucketfuls in these days.

10:43 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I want United to get another.
Two nil isn't enough for the domination

10:44 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yeah, I don't know why they do that on FSC.

10:45 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Not many goals in the Coke so far.
Wolves, Stoke, Colchester and Leicester are the only scorers.
Oh, Wednesday just tied it up with Wolves

10:46 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

another at Anfield.
Do you know it before the TV?

10:47 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

More good news for us - Wolves have taken the lead against Wednesday - nope they've evened it up. Still, if we can scratch out a win today, we could easily climb out of the relegation zone.

10:47 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Good news at Anfield.
Liverpool were three nil up against Reading in midweek and only won 4-3

10:48 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Palace are losing at home to Plymouth

10:48 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh, lovely strike from Crouchie. Why doesn't he start every game?

10:49 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Did you see how far behind Crouch that Finnan ball was? He just stuck his freakish leg out and wrapped it out the ball to knock it in. Astonishing.

10:50 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Stoke have extended their lead over the poor Canaries.

10:51 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

YESSSSSSS! Ian Moore rifles home Leeds's first goal. We're in this one!

10:57 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Unfortunately we're still third bottom, no doubt because of our horrible goal difference.

11:12 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Unbelievable how dominant Liverpool are today. Villa had looked at least well drilled by Martin O'Neill up to today. What happened?

11:16 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Now Sami Hyppia's popping up in the area with a blast over the bar! Crikey!

11:17 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

A mad scramble denies Gerrard Liverpool's fourth!

11:19 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Cardiff have finally broken the deadlock against Derby. That would extend their lead at the top of the Coke to six points.

11:20 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Agbonlahor pegs one back for Villa. Could there be a fightback? I doubt it - I reckon Liverpool will score a fourth. They look hungry today.

11:24 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Wednesday are now 2-1 up against Wolves. Shame that.

11:25 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Wow, Kanu has scored a second for Pompey - they're two nil up against Reading. I guess the Reading bubble has well and truly burst at this point. They'll no doubt sink into mid-table from here on out.

11:26 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Still one-nil at the Emirates although it sounds like the Arse are all over Everton. 10 corners to one at present. It won't be long before they score.

11:30 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Garcia should've scored Liverpool's fourth there. United still 2-0 up - they're probably settling for that. Arsenal all over Everton but still 0-1 down. And Pompey are 2-0 up! What is going on there?

11:33 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Derby have leveled it against Cardiff. That's good - the gap is back to four points.

11:34 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Football 365 reports: "Leeds are clinging on desperately to their 1-0 lead over Southend." I do not like the sound of that.

11:36 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Arsenal have equalized through a Van Persie penalty. 1-1. Can they find a winner now?

11:40 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

And Pompey have scored a third!

Cardiff have retaken the lead through Michael Chopra. He could do things in the Prem next season.

11:41 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

QPR have leveled it against QPR and Wolves have leveled it against Wednesday. Good and bad news.

11:44 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Norwich are now 3-0 down to Stoke! And they've had their goalkeeper sent off!

11:44 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

And that Portuguese winker Ronaldo has slotted home United's third. It's game over - no joy for Piltdown Sam today.

11:50 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Stoke are 4-0 up! Dear oh dear.

Wigan have taken the lead away to Fulham.

11:51 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

This is the crucial time for us - we've given up a lot of points due to late goals this season. Come you Whites! Hang in there!

11:54 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Hattrick for Roon! ManYoo 4-0 over Bolton away. That's some result for them.

11:55 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

YESSSSSS! Two nil Leeds. Robbie Blake sticking in the second. Looks like a winning start for Dennis and Gus. We'll hold off on the Wise Out banners for just a week or so.

11:59 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

And those lovely lads at Coventry have stuck one in at Barnsley right on cue to drag us up out of the drop zone. It's a Roy of the Rovers moment for the Elland Road faithful who are no doubt chairing Wisey off the pitch now.

12:00 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Well done the sheepshaggers!

I'm a bit disappointed that my lads didn't take the opportunity to unmask the pretenders that I believe Everton to be. Still, I know that the boards will be full of the usual shite about on eye on the midweek clash against CSKA which allowed, blah, blah, blah.

Special thank-you to Davey's reds for absolutely mullering Piltdown and co. Brilliant to see Rooney grab a few too.
