Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Pearce Wants a "Sack Window"

Manchester City manager Stuart "Psycho" Pearce has put forward a novel idea today. He's calling for a "sack window" similar to the "transfer window" in which clubs could only get rid of their managers during, say, August or January. Pearce may have ulterior motives here, given that Citeh are currently languishing in the bottom half of the Premiership, and Ian Dowie and Alan Pardew may also want sign onto the Pearce Coalition. But what do you reckon - a genius move or psycho idea?

A non-starter. A club like Charlton shouldn't be forced to hold on to the clueless Dowie. The math might be impossible to stay up by then.

But I do sympathise with a guy like Pearce who has done well up to now with the likes of Barton and Sinclair. I think that Citeh can turn the corner and be in the top half after Christmas. And I think they can do it with Pearce.

The guy I wonder about is Benitez. Sure, he's done really well by winning the CL in his first season but L'pool haven't won the league in 17 seasons now and haven't fielded the same line-up in what, 98 games? And last week he's got Gerrard stranded out on the right in a midfield of 5? WTF? They've not won 7 on the trot now and he's still faffing around with systems and lineups.

As a Gooner, I've been frustrated time to time by seeing Le Boss try to put lipstick on the pig that was Cygan and try to tell us that he was beautiful, but I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for a guy like Crouch to score cracking goals on a Wednesday night in the CL and then end up shopping at Harvey Nic's with his bint the Sunday next because he's not been even included in the traveling squad in the Prem.

I'm with you on Benitez. How does he keep his neck off the chopping block month after month. Liverpool are clearly the biggest disappointment of the season. I backed them to win the Premiership this season and they've already squandered that. His chopping and changing squad rotation program has clearly unsettled the squad and I wonder how long Liverpool fans have to wait to get shod of the clueless Spaniard.

As for Ian Dowie and Charlton, I hope they do wait until January to ship him. I'm sick of Charlton in the Premiership, aren't you? I'd be well pleased with them, Watford and the Blades going down this season.

That's nearly a dream drop squad, though I'd love to see Piltdown Sam's squad plummet through the ranks and flirt with disaster too.
