Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Another Big Saturday

All the big wigs are on display today. Should be an interesting day.
I am here to follow every game on the computer while watching United on the tellie.
Hope to have some company.

Heya Dave, I just beat you to the post. I'll get rid of it. Citeh have already beaten Fulham 3-1 in the earlier match.

Arsenal v Newcastle

Chelsea v West Ham

Everton v Bolton

Middlesbrough v Liverpool

Portsmouth v Watford

Reading v Charlton

Sheff Utd v Man Utd

Birmingham drew with Wolves in the early Brum derby. That doesn't really help either. Also you may have seen that Cardiff had a shock away loss last night.

10:12 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Nice one, Stoke have taken an away lead against Hull, which pops us out of the danger zone without us doing much of anything. We're fourth bottom again.

10:17 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

And Plymouth have taken an early lead away to Southend. More good news. Southend look all but dead and buried with only eleven points.

Also West Brom are already 2-0 up against Burnley.

It will interesting to see how Charlton get on today at Reading with their new manager. They had a spot on Sky News about it last night, asking other Prem. managers about it and most of them said the obvious sympathetic things. Arsene even said that Dowie was a "quality manager." Really?! The only honest one was Martin O'Neill, who said, "You live and die by your results." Too right, Martin. He had to go.

10:21 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

ManYoo really piling on the pressure, with even Gazza Neville getting in on the action. Hit it straight at the keeper, though.

Where did you go, Davey. Nip off for a quick shower?

10:22 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Neil Warnock is already doing his nut with the fourth official. What a tosspot. Get the red card out, ref!

10:23 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh, bloody hell! The Blades have scored. Good header from Gillespie. Evra got skinned on the left though. Nice run from Hulse.

10:24 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

OOOH, Rooney nearly leveled it. Great stop from Paddy Kenny. He's been the goalkeeping story of the season, I think. Has kept the Blades in several matches.

10:26 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Preston have taken the lead against Leicester to go even with Cardiff at the top.

Palace have scored against Barnsley. A draw would probably be the best result in that one for us. They're both down at the bottom.

10:28 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

As expected Reading have taken the lead against woeful Charlton, who are stuck at the bottom on eight points.

10:30 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I go to the bathroom and the Blades score.
Well it is early
Chelsea just scored too

10:32 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Sheff Wed are winning again.
They are zooming up the table

10:33 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

That was a lengthy crap, mate. What did you eat - a bucket of vindaloo?

10:33 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Saha should get a card there; total dive. No, actually Giggsy picks up the card for him for the protest.

10:37 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I wasn't in there the entire time!!!!
As the scores stand, Leeds are out of the bottom three.
United should have had a penalty
Coventry have tied up Wednesday

10:37 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

He got clattered from behind!!!

10:37 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Never a penalty, mate.

10:38 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Talksport just said it was a definately pen.
ANOTHER CHANCE FOR UNITED.
COME ON, PUT IT IN THE OLD ONION BAG!!

10:39 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Some fairly desperate defending there from the Blades to keep Roon and Saha out. Where's Skippy?

10:39 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Oh dear, Leeds are down

10:40 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROONEY!!!!!!!!!

10:41 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Bugger!

And double bugger! Rooney's scored. Good goal though, great instinct.

10:41 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

THE ARSE are losing to Newcastle.
Pompey are losing to Watford

10:41 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Time for Wisey to stiffen some spines. We can't drop points at home. We're back in the danger zone with that goal. Third bottom.

10:42 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Bloody hell, this is going better for you lot. I can't believe that Arsenal will drop points against Newcastle. They're woeful.

10:42 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Go on, give Skippy a good kicking!

10:43 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Jay Demerit, the American with the goal for Watford. He can't get into the U.S. squad for some inexplicable reason.

10:44 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Who was Saha passing to?

10:46 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Looks like a penguin.....

10:47 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What do you think about this Evra? Is he keeping Heinze out of the team?

10:47 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Dive number two for Saha - get the card out, ref!

I think Heinze is injured, no?

10:48 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Wednesday have had two players sent off already, including their keeper. Why aren't we watching that match?

10:49 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

He must be short of match fitness. He HAD been playing in Carling Cup

10:50 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Shef Wed down to ten men

10:50 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I didn't know it was two men

10:50 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That was another penalty!

10:51 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Pompey has tied it up.
Another one from Kanu

10:52 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

West Brom up by three.
I better slow down with my comments before I get disabled.

10:53 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Ferg rates Evra higher than Heinze. I read that some Italian team has bid silly cash for Gabriel and he's off in January.

10:56 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Morning Gooner.
I don't like that idea. We missed Gabby a lot last year

10:57 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

70%-30% possession.
9-0 Corners
There can only be one thing that happens in the second half

10:58 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Newcastle have not been in the Arse's penalty all half!!!
Including their goal. It was taken from outside the box.
Will Arsene' Frank Bruno" Wenger bring Henry off the bench right at the half?

11:01 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

My lot have to turn it around in the second half. This just isn't good enough.

Morning, Gooner!

11:03 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Me as well. From what I can see, Evra is far better going forward than he is as a defender. Gabby's got the lot, though I haven't seen enough of him since he returned to gauge what kind of pace he's returned with.

Evra reminds me of Ashley Cole, all sparkle going forward and a nice side-line in goal mouth clearances, but a bit rubbish at the defending.

Blogger gooner71 said...

You know we've got a match on Tuesday that getting robbed in Moscow and then doing a penalty area keystone cops routine in the return leg makes quite important.

Newcastle are lucky to meet us at this moment in the season, but ultimately they're pishh. They'd not even be in this division if it weren't for the 10 games a season that Given won't allow them to lose. Now that he's back, they can all breath a little easier, but really now, who would be surprized if they ended 16th in the table this year? Would you?

Second half, we haven't replied by the 55th, yes, probably time for Henry. Even if he's got one eye on Tuesday, he lifts the team just being there.

The subs bench doesn't look very promising otherwise.

11:09 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Good sign. United are already out on the field waiting for the Blades to come out. COME ON YOU BLUES

11:12 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Henry is on

11:13 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

What's with the blue kit, anyway? Don't like it - it looks like Chelski with red trim.

11:16 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

No surprise that it's RVP going off. Don't know why he hasn't produced. Something about where his head is at the moment. Obviously a bright talent and only behind Henry in attacking invention, but something's missing right now.

11:16 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

They've done every other color. Wait, there's still that s**t-brown that Spurs caromed about in last week-end.

Yeah, get your Brown-on Davey!

11:18 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That was United away kit for a couple of years. It has become there third kit this season. Their white shirt is the away but of course the Blades wear Red and White
It is the classic United blue that they wore when they won the European Cup in '68

11:18 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Have you seen the Roma away?
It is grey and it shows every players sweat!! It is disgusting

11:19 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

We haven't started this half as I would have hoped

11:20 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

That sounds like that "silver" Barca number from a few years back where every player looked like they were wearing a different shade depending on the effort they were expending.

11:22 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Still 0-1 Soton in the only match I care about today. We've got our best side out and have had some chances.

Come on you Whites!

11:22 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Coventry are now leading nine-man Wednesday.

11:23 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Keano's Sunderland are now 2-0 up over Colchester. They're well out of trouble now. A model for Leeds?

11:24 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Just cross the ball Ronaldo

I can do that too CR

11:24 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Tell you another thing... Domenech was asked by Wenger to use Henry sparingly in the mid-week friendly. He and Gallas were once of 4 who played all ninety minutes. What a wanker.

11:25 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

You guys should have hired Keano

11:25 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

COME ON UNITED!!!!!!!

11:25 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Total wanker. Why would you waste those players in a friendly. Why not give some of the young Lyonnais a run out?

11:25 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I think Keane at Leeds would've been more than the fans would've been able to stomach. I suspect they might have burned down the director's boxes.

11:26 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Bugger, now Southend have equalized. They're still rock bottom but now on twelve points.

11:27 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Sounds like Shay Given is just barely keeping Newcastle in it. Arse all over those mugs now.

11:28 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Long may it continue

11:31 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Good, Bolton are losing to Everton

11:32 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Theo on at the Emirates

11:33 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Everton have taken the lead through Mikel Arteta. He'll be important since they lost Cahill last weekend.

11:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What a run from Roon but then gave it away

11:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

OH DEAR
SOTTON HAVE SCORED AGAIN
TERRIBLE DEFENDING APPARENTLY

11:36 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Saha has been hopeless today.

Now just go and score please

11:37 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Reading are two up

11:38 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

This is just not good enough for Leeds. We're starting to lose touch with the pack. A loss today would put us five points behind Palace.

11:38 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The ARSE have scored
BLOODY HENRY

11:39 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Jesus, Jagielka has been brilliant today. He's keeping the Blades in it. Great tackle on Saha.

11:40 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Oh, just as I was writing that this is not good enough and that the man needs to step up, guess what? The man stepped up. 1-1 and game on.

C'mon you Gunners!

11:41 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Come on you Hammers! I'd love to see them get one back against Chelski.

11:42 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

COME ON UNITED
PUT IT IN

11:42 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

YES!!!!!!!!
ROONEY!!!!!!!!
Another great goal from a great pass

Leeds are three down.

Sack WISE

11:43 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

From what I can tell of the last ten minutes, we've been in dangerous positions only for Manu Adebayor to lose the ball and foul in the attempt to rescue it. Very stupid.

11:43 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Rooon! What a great finish - the boy's on fire today.

11:43 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Who would take the Leeds job now, Mike Newell?

11:44 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

great cross from Evra as well.

11:45 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Derby have helped us out a bit - they're 2-0 up against Luton now.

11:45 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

How did Ronaldo miss that one?
Rosicky like

11:45 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

What a miss from Skippy the Winker!

11:45 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Fabragas should have been sent off according to Talksport.

Chelsea are holding on. West Ham have given it a go in the second half.

11:47 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Warnock throwing on a big lump - you can tell what's coming.

11:47 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Hull are down by two

11:47 AM

I can only wonder what the Elland Road faithful will have to say to Alan Green on 606 this afternoon.

11:48 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Can anyone say Rooney hat-trick?
Come on Wayno

11:49 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Bloody hell
Off the bar and then the line.
COME ON GET A THIRD.... PLEASE

11:50 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Why do you need a third - there's no way the Blades are coming back now. You've seen all their weapons. You can surely ride this one out.

11:52 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Come on you Hammers!!!!!

11:53 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I want a third

11:53 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I've just had a look at our goal difference - -17 with 36 goals conceded. Bloody rubbish!

11:54 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Skippy should be banned for life according to 99pct of the English population. Wrap up you bastrrd

11:55 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Phew with that free kick
That is why I want a third

11:55 AM

I think Phil could've scored that one.

11:57 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

11:57 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Leeds could have scored from there!!!!
Three minutes of added time

Leeds have lost by three

12:01 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Phew.
Another win.
Top of the table by three

12:01 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

The Pompey goal puts some added pressure on the Arse to get another.

Charlton are definitely going down. They basically appointed someone who should be a caretaker manager.

The question is - are Leeds going down?

12:02 PM
