Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

RIP Ferenc Puskas 1927-2006

Ferenc Puskas has died at the age of 81 today. He was a little before our time, but even the grainy images of that 6-3 hammering that his "Magical Magyars" handed out to England at Wembley in 1953 should be enough to prove to our generation that he was one of the greatest in football history. He took part in the epic 1954 World Cup final which Germany eventually won 3-2 and was an integral piece of the brilliant Real Madrid side of the late 50s and early 60s. All hail the Magical Magyar!

No more galloping for this major.

Too bad that the film of his team and his play is of such poor quality.

I wonder if technology will ever advance enough to restore some clarity to it.

I'd also like to see some decent footage of Leonidas and even Garrincha as well as De Stefano and that Real Madrid team that won all those European Cups on the spin.
